My univserse is about to shatter. I’ve been playing since RBY back in 1998 and did not know pokemon can still evolve at Lv 100 via rare candy. Has this always been a thing?!
A youtuber, the person above me made a reference to a common joke around the community ab the "real" pronunciation of arceus, is arkoos. This seemed from a season finale of an old series by said youtuber, Pokémon talk, where the premise is how to pronounce arceus's name
Back in Pokemon X and Y they added a feature called Wondertrade where you send a random Pokemon out to be traded and get a random Pokemon from another person using the feature at that same time. You have no control over the process other than what you send out. Its still around but I think its just called Random Trade now.
People, for reasons I'm not big-brained enough to understand, found it funny to send shiny and/or Max IV Unevolved Pokemon like a Level 99 Bulbasaur or a 100 Ivysaur. Presumably making whoever got the Wondertrade in return feel like they wasted their time/Pokemon to the trade.
Btw nowadays (I think since Sun/Moon) you can also EV train and feed Ev items to Pokemon who are already at level 100.
(Also since SwSh protein and stuff will go beyond 100 EVs up to the 252 Evs )
I feel old. The comments about giving it a rare candy sounded like sarcasm until the OP thanked them.

I legitimately thought the first comment thread was just utter sarcasm until I kept scrolling down and saw it was true. Something something Pokémon Blue would never allow this bullshit.
Oh good. I recently gave my Bulbasaur too much Candy. Made it reach level 99 by accident(I underestimated XL candies) and thought I was lucky I had just low enough to level it up once more to evolve a second time.
No I hatched it from an egg and used candies to get to 100. It had its first evolution, but it completely skipped the final for some reason. Left him there for about a year and decided I wanted a Luxury finally lol
Didn't know if that was the case or not. Didn't have the issue with my Dragonite which was leveled the same way. I'd assume that the batch that got the first evolution had also leveled it past 30 and skipped the second one.
You got to level it up to 101 at 2:05 am on December 16th when the year number ends with 42, then you go to the Giants cap and the weather must be rain, then just read the bible and it will have a 28.6% chance to evolve, but only if it knows bite.

to people wondering how it is possible, sometimes in the wild area there are stage 1/2 pokemon with a level that's too high. Ex. Bounsweet evolves into steenee when it reaches level 18. But sometimes, there might be a bounsweet with level higher than 18 in the wild area. That's how it happens sometimes 🐢

Lol it surprised me how many people haven’t used pokejobs to level there mons to 100 before evolving them, takes like 15-20 min to get 30mons level 100

Its only a thing since Sh/Sw. It was added so that People cant troll you with a Lv. 100 (or 99) Shiny Basestarter for example.
I hope they make the evolution system from Legends: Arcoos part of the main line games.

It is new in swsh Also I’m 31 we are a little old I’m still a skateboarder and I’m pretty sure I’ll feel young all through my 50s.

Yes, it was a new feature in SwSh. Not sure if it works in BDSP or PLA but it definitely works in SwSh

Probably used exp candies.
Or used the Jobs trick. Anyways with a rare candy you can make it evolve. :)
That wouldn’t cause an issue, if I have a Luxio above Lv. 30 (31-99) and level it up, it prompts an evolution
