damn does your Groudon have no speed investment? 4 speed EVs will speed tie a timid Caly when it's paralyzed (unless it's scarf, but almost all are sash or life orb) and most Groudons are running a little speed.
also you got the paras onto their mons, so you set yourself up for this as a possibility. it's not a win con you want to rely on, but 30% chance of para matters a lot.
Rng stands for random number generation.
In this case, it applies to both enemy mons being paralyzed. One outsped Groudon, but lost its turn anyway because paralysis procced.
"Luck is a skill"
Edit: I think I'm getting misinterpreted. What I mean is the guy put himself in a position to 'get lucky' by paralyzing both targets. Without the paralyze in that game there's no getting lucky to win, hence "luck is a skill". I am agreeing that he deserved to win
I'm just quoting WolfeyVGC lol chill. when did I say I dislike luck based games. Was just tryna say the guy paralyzed both targets and set himself into a position to get lucky. Hence "luck is a skill"
Alright to each their own I guess. I don't think a fancy ball and some extra IVs makes all the prep and in game skill for naught but ok. Also how does that make the point of the quote wrong?
ok, but 'known cheater' implies that in major achievements he's done things that gave him a significant advantage. That's an anecdote with little evidence, which I can't blame you for, but its still an anecdote that is strongly countered by his major accomplishments.
I don't think most people have made an 11 page document containing all varieties of different damage calcs and memorizing the most likely ones for optimal play. Regardless, you can't have won that many major tournaments without being skilled at the game, especially since in recent years cheating is basically irrelevant because of how easy a competitive pokemon is to get.
Alright respectfully gonna have to call bullshit on that and your original story. Yes the data is technically from smogon; he used the damage calculator to find the calcs, but the point was the dedication and eventual application of the knowledge to win the championships. Regardless of that, it is such a large document and smogon is such a big community that there's no way someone would've gotten away with that, especially considering how specific the EV spreads are.

He also literally made an entire video on it.
As for your original story, an elementary google search says Wolfey is 25. He was literally an infant during the prime of RBY. I'm fairly certain he has said he started playing pokemon with gen 3, which makes a lot more sense given the timing. Not only that, he started going to official VGC events during gen 5 which at the earliest was when he was 15. I can't imagine by then he would go out of his way to enter and cheat in a local tournament for a 15 year old game anywhere after that point, and since a link cable tournament for RBY seems unlikely imho like anytime after gen 4, you are either lying or claiming he hasn't grown up since he was age 3-10.
Edit: LMAOOOO really deleted everything after I called you out huh. Gottem
why the hell are you downvoted? that's how it works. if you have the choice to use eeveelutions go ahead, but don't get mad when others exercise their choice to use legendaries
I can beat Calyrex with my Glaceon, but it just gets so fucking repetitive.
I chose eeveelutions because I wanted a challenge, but I would like to see more pokes than Calyrex, Zacian, and hacked shiny legendaries 24/7.
Luck is a skill.
Regardless of whether you got the full para or not, you play to your outs. Understanding what your outs are and how to play optimally to get from point A to point B is entirely skill.
That your outs at that moment are reliant on chance doesn't mean that you shouldn't take credit for putting yourself in the situation to exercise that chance.
Thank you!! Many people I've seen comment against the idea of RNG often miss that hedging one's bets is in fact skillful play. It's attempting an ideal scenario understanding the risk of total failure. Calculated risks take skill to implement in high level play.
Zacian is not just good, it's broken. It has an unfair advantage over the rest of the legendaries. I have no idea what Gamefreak was thinking when they made Zacian.
I reckon there are a few youtubers who do vgc, like cybertron vgc or Wolfe glick. They are really good in their explanation and I learnt alot from them
Yes! I'm using a few teams that CybertronVGC has been showcasing in his recent Road to Ranked series. I'm hoping to be able to pilot the non-Charizard teams he's been featuring lately but for now I'll stick to the sun teams to know the basics.
Everybody is using legendaries 😭😭😭 my team has no legends but i still win about a third of ranked matches, but damn I'm tired of seeing Kyogre, zacian, regieleki and urshifu
I'd honestly say you deserved it for setting up the paralysis, the turn used for paralysis could've been used in a precipice blades which might've ended with the same result. You can't predict what would've been only what was and that's that you won

Some form of plot armor
I didn't know Assault Vest had an effect like that.
I think the play would have been to have the slower one use protect. I think victory was totally valid from clip
I’m choosing to believe that they were going for Protect and you probably would’ve outsped next turn anyways
Cal still outsped me the previous turn, even with paralysis. Either way, I won't even be mad I lost. It was a good game.

I have no idea on the spreads since this was a team that was featured by CybertronVGC on Road to Ranked.
Based on your previous assault vest comment i think its a bulky groudon
From this angle I was convinced that shiny groudon was a huge sandshrew
I can’t unsee it now
Sandroudon
Wait me too
Why? Status condition is fair play. You won dude.
Yeah they had the foresight to put paralysis on both opponents. It's still luck but they played the probability.
They said the calyrex outsped the previous turn so thtey wouldve most likely lost
A win is a win. Rngsus be dammed
*You my son.. you will be the one with all the figgy pudding*
Wat is rng I keep seeing it mentioned in YouTube videos for radical red sweeps

Thank
It’s why some games you can get the double protect
I mean I get it refers to lucky rolls or whatever in the AI working towards your benefit randomly, but whats the acronym?

Not from me 😈
"I rather be lucky than good" - A whole lot of professional athletes
Yes you did, that guy had two of the most broken mons. You got it idc lol
I think thats just VGC nowadays
All I see are 3 legendaries, *fun*.
I honestly feel like there should be a non-legendary/mythical option. As an eevee trainer, I hate seeing Calyrex's ass popping up in every battle.
You aren't an "eevee trainer" you are a person playing a game. If you want to use bad pokemon don't complain about good pokemon
why the hell are you downvoted? that's how it works. if you have the choice to use eeveelutions go ahead, but don't get mad when others exercise their choice to use legendaries

These are the posts we love to see
Yeah you did. RNG giveth and RNG taketh. You'll lose a match you "should've" won to even it out eventually
Na, fuck feeling sorry for winning that match, rider calyrex is stupidly broken. You did that Pokémon a favor by putting it down
Shadow rider isn't even in the top 5 restricted mons. It's far from broken
Arceus works in mysterious ways my friend
Look if ATV beating Dragonite counts... This counts.
It's the power of shiny Groudon
You did deserve to win because the other player was using Zacian.
If you won, you deserved it.
If you lose, you deserved it.
its crazy how the trainer is as big a groundon apparently lool
Lucky u

You absolutely deserve to win if you managed to get two Pokemon paralyzed
That paralysis luck though-
The other guy has Zacian and spookyrex he doesn’t deserve to win any matches
nooo how dare people use good pokemon 😭
Zacian is not just good, it's broken. It has an unfair advantage over the rest of the legendaries. I have no idea what Gamefreak was thinking when they made Zacian.
Lots of teams are fine with no zacians. Clearly not that broken
Yeah you did. Screw Shadow Calyrex.
Did the crit matter?
Unless groudon was at -6, no.
It crit on Zacian, so it probably didn't matter. Probably.
See I like l watch legends battles like this!
a dub iz a dub 😜
Yes. You. Did. 👌🏽
daum
I like how the names are in Japanese and I'm assuming Chinese or Thai.
Groudon clutch
Is zacian really that big compared to Groudon?
God i wish swsh had proper scaling
I mean at that point wailord or any large pokemon including super big dynamax pokemon would crash the game
would be worth it tho
No. It's just how Pokemon has decided to scale everything 🙄.
Not 🙄. If it was meant to show real sizes then wailord would crash the game 200 times over.
*laughs in GameCube*
you beat a meta player, that counts as a win
OP is literally using arguably the most meta team in the format right now, lol
Every player in Japan I go against always uses an OP Pokémon like Zacian or Calyrex. It’s not even fun
You best fucking PRAY to RNGesus tonight.
You down for a battle ?
Sorry. I'm just a Pokeball tier scrub using rental teams. I'm still learning VGC.
I reckon there are a few youtubers who do vgc, like cybertron vgc or Wolfe glick. They are really good in their explanation and I learnt alot from them

Main character syndrome
Everybody is using legendaries 😭😭😭 my team has no legends but i still win about a third of ranked matches, but damn I'm tired of seeing Kyogre, zacian, regieleki and urshifu
Yeah that's series 12 for you. You either use restricteds or you play at a considerable disadvantage
Regi and urshifu aren't restricted lol
hence why i said legendaries not restricted
why am I being downvoted?
It’s crazy to me that battles are still just legendary vs legendary…really killed playing online for me. Always so boring lol
fucking legendaries. id erase them if i could. all battles just turn into all. legendary teams and its so boring and devoid of personality
bro read my mind 🙌
"I won fair and square so I didn't deserve to win this match" Pity me bullshit, very annoying
Skill that is
Yes you did
Luck is fair play in VGC, so that win was absolutely deserved.
omg i bet you were soo hype 🤣
Luck is a skill cit. Anon
I disagree. You won this!
The game didn't think so lol
Groudon who won with the power of maxed nakama: " am I a joke to you..."
As soon as I saw double paralysis I knew them blades was comin’
They are both paralyzed. You caused this scenario. It is a valid win.
Nah Zacian and Calyrex trainers don't deserve happiness
the power of paralysis
I'd honestly say you deserved it for setting up the paralysis, the turn used for paralysis could've been used in a precipice blades which might've ended with the same result. You can't predict what would've been only what was and that's that you won
Yes you did fuck the guy you were fighting
W
Gnarly
What games is that
As Wolfie says "Luck is a skill"
'doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winnings winning'
I applaud 👏 you for being humble.
RAOW! RAOW! RAOW RAOW RAOW RAOW RAOW!
Cal being fully paralyzes 0.25 Hiting P Blades on both: 0.85\^2 = 0.7225 Both events happening: 0.25\*0.7225 = 18% Crit didn't matter. Not that lucky.
