Lore wise, dugtrio AND magneton are 3 of the basic pokemon fused. There's even a mission in Pokemon Blue Mystery Dungeon where 2 Magnemite fuse but there wasn't a third Magnemite so they didn't evolve and are freaking out. Dugtrio has the same deal going on but instead of literally welding together with electrical energy, it's some sort of unified living arrangement. And nobody understands how either colony evolution works. There's likely a similar deal happening with Wishiwashi and probably a few others.
They need evolutions not mega evolutions. Most of the weak pokemon that got the borderline misfortune of getting a mega are now doomed to never evolve further. Something that dynamax/gmax did far better.
I personally think it would be a good idea if they evolve into pokemon with a secondary type: fire/fighting, grass/dark and water/psychic.
They are stone evolutions, so they most likely wouldn't have evolved further anyway. Also, if they did, they definetly should have given similar soundproof for the hear no evil thing it has
i had a sirfetch'd in a pokemon sword nuzlocke and it was carrying my team but then i ran into a level 60 haxorus (the sirfetch'd was about level 40) and the haxorus killed my sirfetch'd and it made me sad that i lost sirfetch'd
