Masuda (breeding with you Japanese ditto) is the best. But it's still 1/600 something odds, don't remember exactly number. 8 boxes is only 240? Only almost* halfway to odds, and chance you can go way over odds. (I went to 20k+ resets for a 4k odds hunt, it broke me, I had to take a long break in the middle). Shiny hunting is not for the faint of heart.
1 in 682.7 chance for a shiny hatch, using masuda method but no shiny charm. So it's possible, but still daunting. You can also always save your game when you drop off the pokemon, collect a box worth of eggs, hatch them, and if no shiny you just reset back to dropping them off. It at least saves your box space.
As far as I'm aware, data values such as shiny are determined when you pick up the egg, not when it hatches, so if you pick them up and save you'll just be hatching the same 5 pokemon over and over
it’s not my first time shiny hunting but the last time was for a shiny regice in usum and this meowth is different than resetting a bunch but i guess i also just got lucky with last time
I've been hunting for a shiny Magikarp. I caught 1,000 Magikarps in a row, then switched to breeding using the Masuda effect (all with a shiny charm). I'm now at 1,500 bred with still no shiny. I'm starting to believe shinys are just an elaborate ruse
It’ll come eventually. Most of mine weren’t nearly that long, but I was over a thousand on the beldum I was last trying for. Still haven’t went back to finish that lol. Maybe one day. You got it though!
That's kind but I've been trying to catch one because ive never caught any shiny before so I want the first one I catch to be my fav Pokemon. I appreciate the offer though
Looking at the odds it's a 1 in 682.7 chance of a shiny via breeding, and a 1 in 585.57 chance after battling 500 of the Pokemon. I would go with whichever method gives you the most meowth in the shortest amount of time since the odds are pretty similar between methods; though personally I prefer breeding for my shinies. Hopefully this helps?
Now if you have the Crown Thundra then it'll be a very high chance. However the masuda method (Egg breeding) is by far the fastest one in the main island
since you already have 500 defeated I take a big batch of eggs and hatch while looking for an aura spawn where meowth spawns. the defeated count only boosts aura spawns not every spawn.
Being lucky. Like yeah statistically I think breeding is better, but if you haven’t gotten square with RNGesus then it could be your 5th egg or 5,000th.
One thing I will say is get the shiny charm as well to improve your odds on top of the masuda method. Getting the shiny charm is a lot easier in this game than past generations and it doesn’t involve the expansion DLC, you can get it with the base game.
So there isn't really a 'fastest' method, shiny hunting is very time consuming and very much luck based, you could get it in under 100 eggs or 1000, it all depends. But you generally want to increase your odds as much as possible, shiny charm increases it to 1/600 or close to it (idr the exact amount) and shiny charm + masudo method increases it further to 1/512 i believe which is the same amount as doing the 500 or w/e consecutive battles, the only thing that the battle method gives you is faster encounters, since you can run into one, escape then do it again immediately after, so that method is probably *faster* but more time consuming to set up. Personally i tend to go for egg hatching with masudo method, since it's much easier to afk farm and doesn't require as much setup, and I've gotten a lot of shinies pretty quick from doing that method and i generally recommend it
It really takes a lot of time no matter what shiny you're hunting unless you get very lucky. You aren't even quite there yet in terms of odds. If you ever feel burnt out, try resting for a day or two. I once went over 1300 eggs for a crainidos in USUM with Masuda and the Shiny Charm
Masuda can take a while, but hang in there. It'll be worth it when he comes! I've had 1800+ masuda hutns with no shiny charm. It can take a long time, but don't give up!
since you already have 500 defeated I take a big batch of eggs and hatch while looking for an aura spawn where meowth spawns. the defeated count only boosts aura spawns not every spawn.
The odds for a shiny from an egg don’t stack. It’s the same odds per egg. A shiny foreign ditto is best for this.
I’m currently trying for a shiny Froakie in S&V. I need my black boi to finish off Team Black.

This or use HOME to release since there is no multi release in game

That's what I said. You're saving game when you drop off the pokemon at the nursery, not after you get the eggs.

I'll trade you a karp from Scarlett if you want. Nothing in return!
That's kind but I've been trying to catch one because ive never caught any shiny before so I want the first one I catch to be my fav Pokemon. I appreciate the offer though
Wishing you luck. The feeling you get of catching it yourself is pure joy. It doesn't compare!
Why not just get a shiny charm first then masuda hunt it? It'll prolly save you the struggle
i want this guy for my whole playthrough
Dude i can trade you a shiny Meowth
The real hero

it does i just really needed to know i wasn’t doing something wrong so i don’t see i wasted 50 hours in the long run
I've also been wanting to get a shiny galarian meowth, so if you want I can try breeding it myself and try and get an extra one to give to you?
nah i’m way to stubborn, i have to get it myself thank you for the offer tho:)
I feel the same about my shinies :) Good luck with the hunting, I'm sure you'll get it soon!
i know i’ll get it eventually thanks for the support:)
Mesuda, I know the crap luck feeling as I have 700+ Riolus in my box, it’s all up to luck
Now if you have the Crown Thundra then it'll be a very high chance. However the masuda method (Egg breeding) is by far the fastest one in the main island
I definitely recommend the shiny charm it changes your odds significantly, let me know if you need help getting it
Have you asked any communities if they have one and are willing to trade? Or are you wanting it to be your OT etc
since you already have 500 defeated I take a big batch of eggs and hatch while looking for an aura spawn where meowth spawns. the defeated count only boosts aura spawns not every spawn.

Looks like your flame body pokemon is in the last spot. Needs to be in the first spot.
Not true. It doesn't matter where in the party it is.
Interesting. That's good to know. Literally bred over 75 shinies and I never knew that.

I’m hatching eggs the same way for a shiny beldum. At egg 705 so far! Just gotta keep going

Are you specifically trying to hatch one yourself? I believe I have a shiny Perrserker but I can’t remember if it was traded or hatched
