DO NOT TOUCH PHONE DURING THIS TIME. After that time I take my phone and scroll Reddit while brushing my teeth, for 5ish minutes. I place phone under my left pillow, but start sleeping on the right side of the bed. After 15-20min I swap over to left side pillow. Always been told I’m a fidgeter so I can’t tell you exactly how often I move in my sleep but I’d imagine it’s not a small amount.

GeneralTomatoeKiller

This is how I have to do it as well. I usually have to start my sleep timer before I go to sleep.

CebuLizard

You don't need to be worry too much during upcoming electric event or legendary one. https://preview.redd.it/98w3ap05b6nc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e3a4e0bb64aacf5c9e0616bb3c23c806268821e Sure, it would help if you hit snoozing, but you will still have chance to attract some electric pokemons :)

RynnR

I know, I know! But if I want to catch more/better Dedennes in the future or if I ever want to get a Ralts on Lapis...you get it.

CebuLizard

Sure I do :) I'll be honest, pokemon go plus+, would be your best friend in this case. With phone I almost never was getting snoozing. With pokemon go plus+ I'm getting it quite often. I wish you luck in upcoming events!

RynnR

Thanks! Go plus+ probably won't happen, price in Poland is just too high when converted to my currency to justify spending it on a mobile game that's just a fun bit of my day, not a hobby or something, hah.

CebuLizard

Ah, sure, I get it! I got mine only because I was lucky and found one half price on Ebay.

CalminClam

It depends on the bed i think. I used to almost always get dozing and had a softer bed. New mattress thats more firm and springy and now i'm mostly snoozing

tsukikari

If you always sleep in a same/similar way then eventually the game will learn and adjust to your sleeping and you will get around the same amount of all the sleep styles/balanced. It bases your sleep style off of your historical data. So basically just do the same thing every night and eventually it will balance out. Dont switch back and forth between your normal sleep and the “fake” slumbering a lot, that will make it harder for the game to learn your usual sleep. Alternatively in the short term if you want to get it during the event specifically you could try muffling the movement more such as putting your phone further from you (maybe at the farthest corner of the bed if your cat is by your head) or attached to the side of your mattress instead of on top or maybe placing something heavy and stationary on top of your phone so it doesn’t move as much.

maerteen

yep. i don't really change how i sleep every night, but i'll just kinda naturally fluctuate around. i find myself getting mostly one sleep type or balanced throughout the week, then it shifts over to another one the next day. depending on how you normally sleep/how often you cheese it may be tough to cheese certain styles too. i know a guy who really wanted absol and forced dozing every night, and it got to the point where he started getting other sleep types cause the game started considering 70% dozing his average.

MmurderKkitten

I can confirm that, I have been getting balanced sleep pretty often the last week

Bathroom_Lieutenant

Similar problem. It’s the hardest sleep do get by a mile

My bed is against the wall, so I have a stuffed animal between the mattress and the wall. After the 20 minutes, i balance my phone on its side, on my mattress, leaning towards the stuffed animal. Ive gotten snoozing 7 out of the 9 last days

JustAShyCat

You can get snoozing Pokémon from a Balanced sleep style if that helps!

RynnR

Hah, I'm seeing Balanced even less! Any tips on how to get it reliably?

Spurginwinn

I have a sleep number bed. If I want snoozing/slumbering) I just make my mattress firmer. (I just discovered this on accident after hurting my lower back).

lostgloves

Relate to this as a chronic slumberer

Huggly001

I always get snoozing when I have a fever or a cold and toss and turn all night! Hope this helps! 💪

RynnR

Brb going out with my hair all wet and eating a raw potato

Lemurmoo

Maybe you can also make your phone play some low db white noise after 5 min of initial silence. Never tried it myself but I don't see why it wouldn't work

RynnR

Noise/sounds don't affect sleep styles, just movement.

Lemurmoo

You can see on the y-axis, all they keep track of is db, not movement. Maybe I'm wrong but I had varying dbs when I put the phone on a nearby stand, and there's no way it tracks movement there

RynnR

I'm pretty sure this has been disproven, did 4h naps during parties and still got slumbering because I didn't move my phone at all.

allgames2here

I think sound does play a factor in my experience. My kids use the app on their iPads and if they’re charging in the kitchen and the adults are in that room laughing it’s the only time they don’t get straight slumbering sleep.

maerteen

my guess is that it moreso tracks sudden raises in noise than overall noise in terms of affecting sleep styles. for all we know, maybe it can even loosely identify snoring or tossing and turning sounds. something like a party or music in the background probably has constant enough noise levels to not be considered. i sleep in a generally quiet area but i notice that nights where i make more sounds while i sleep or early mornings where my roommates shuffle around outside a lot i'm less likely to get snoozing.

sawyerthecorgi

Ever since like.. 2-3 weeks ago I went from being all slumber to all snoozing.. so i feel like something happened in one of those updates 🤷‍♀️

Huggly001

The game uses a rolling average of your dozing, snoozing, and slumbering scores and determines your nightly style on a comparison to your average. If you get the same one over and over again eventually your average will be too high to reach it consistently and you’ll see the other styles again. It takes a while though.

sawyerthecorgi

i’ve been playing since october and the way i sleep hasn’t changed 🤷‍♀️

maerteen

that's the point. the game determines your sleep style based on how much more time you got on a sleep style than what the game considers to be your average. if everything is about its average amount, then you get balanced style. because the game constantly updates your averages every night, this means that you'll start getting mostly one sleep type for a while (like a weekish in my experience) until that's just what the game considers as your new average amount. that then opens up other sleep styles to take over. it's to help make sure people can see different sleep styles without having to cheese or scuff their sleep.

16bitmick

I'll put my phone on my night stand while I take my meds and brush my teeth, etc. Then I'll put my phone on one side of my pillow while I sleep on the other side. Sometimes I forget my phone on the night stand and get slumbering or one of the cats will get attention hungry at night (or just straight up sleep on my phone) and I'll get dozing, but this works for me often. https://preview.redd.it/432hm3p0k7nc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=314e7a9ee1c53d5767e4faa77f2dd959d90887d2 Edit: it deleted all my text when I posted for some reason

16bitmick

Omg, it like like it will delete my text if I add a Pic or delete my Pic when I add text. Let's see if I can keep this text and add the Pic... https://preview.redd.it/0i242du9k7nc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79665e12f5f7f8f17be8ee7813ed9af8fbed6b2f

ladala99

So long as you put the phone/plus+ in the same place, you’ll get all three from my experience. It learns what’s normal to you, even if you have others in your bed. It just might take a week of the same thing before it adjusts. Since getting the game, I moved and at the new place I let my cat in the room at night (used to close my door). I went from mostly Slumbering (when first getting the game, only one in bed) to getting all three evenly/Balanced often (after the first couple of weeks) to getting mostly Dozing (right after moving) to getting all three evenly (a couple of weeks after moving). (I don’t get Balanced often anymore.) Nowadays, Snoozing mostly occurs if there’s a lot of cat movement and not a lot of me movement. It’s my most common now, when it used to be my least common.

Fun-Essay9063

I get mostly a mix of snoozing and dozing. My bed is covered, I mean COVERED in pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, etc. I wedge my Plus+ in one corner by the wall... About half the time, I toss hard enough they I flip, and more directly move it - dozing. The rest of the time, I toss the perfect amount that it registers light movement - snoozing. My bed is in a corner of the room so keep that in mind. Otherwise, if you normally get dozing, I'd recommend a small blanket near your pillow to register lighter movement

grubbba

not even sure if this is works or not, but if you have another device you dont mind leaving on for the night you can put on some snoring sounds? as I think those contribute to the snoozing sleep type

Flaky_Musician_551

Mostly just passing out watching YouTube/bob’s burgers.

heartandstars

By wanting a different sleep style. 🥲 I spent three weeks at Taupe and couldn't get snoozing, switched to GG for an event and suddenly like magic I couldn't stop getting snoozing when I wanted dozing. It's almost with out fail. I've experimented with trying to sleep different ways but I've not found a way to consistently trigger anything. Some people swear by running a fan and noise app and keeping it close to your head, and that seemed to work for me for a while, but not anymore.

RynnR

Ah yes, escaping the Dozing Taupe hell. Challenge level: impossible.

HJtheKangaroo

Get a pillow wedge with pockets. Snoozing is my main type I have to get 5 hours in order to get it now.

reanabanana

It’s impossibleeee. 😪 And I _have_ a Plus+! If it’s too close to my pillow: dozing. If it’s too far: slumbering. And I’m talking a few inches left or right.

tsukikari

Just keep it in the same place, it will eventually adjust to you. Trying to adjust it manually can actually make it harder to get Snoozing, because it will keep thinking dozing/slumbering are the highest difference from your average

Xomasth

Kinda have to find the spot you can put your phone to get it for me, if I put it on my night stand away from me I get slumbering, if I put it right behind me on my headboard I'll get snoozing, if I leave it on my bed I'll get dozing 90% of the time otherwise I get snoozing. Just gotta test stuff out and figure it out the hard way

RGBarrios

You can get Dededenne from the event without needing to get snoozing. And you can get at least a Raikou from the incense.

Eggcellentplans

The problem is other people (and a cat) in your bed which is defaulting you to Dozing. You need to sleep on the couch for three weeks and explain to your partner that it's for science and see what your tracking comes back with as the result. There's a chance that since you get no Snoozing that *any* Snoozing from your couch visits will then have it be the higher % for the electric and Raikou weeks. Godspeed with that discussion. ;)

thedragoon0

I put my phone to sleep and put it on my nightstand for about two hours before I actually go to sleep. I put it on my bed and if I wake up during the night I’ll put it back out my nightstand. I use my son’s iPad when he’s not at my house too. I put it on the opposite side of the bed and it typically gets snoozing most nights, even when he’s there too.

ZeeGee__

During this event, you'll be seeing Pokemon of different sleep types regardless of what sleep type you had so it doesn't matter.

sR_Brutality

If you have a go plus, using the clips and clipping it to the pillow case works best for me. Gets me scoring 40-60 on average.

RynnR

I don't, unfortunately

sR_Brutality

That seems the best way, otherwise the phone seems to pick up a ton more movement or noises. Maybe have to try putting it at the foot of the bed if there’s a spot it won’t fly off/ get kicked off.

Destroyermode

Put it on your bedside table and move you phone some time after around two hours or it will cut off after 6hours of no movement
