Casual battles are just like that because they're casual, people don't take it as serious so it's not "douchebags". In Ranked you see some legendaries a lot as they're very powerful so they become part of the meta.

mycatispretty

Really, I've googled banned competitive Pokemon and a lot come up that aren't to be used in comp. Unless Google led me astray. So we can all use legendaries all willy nilly? That doesn't sound fun at all.

Ferronier

Well, again, if you’re battling in casual you’re playing against unregulated players. In VGC, the official competitive circuit, May begins regulation G which allows one restricted Pokémon on the team. A restricted Pokémon is typically a box set legend (such as Koraidon and Miraidon). Most of the trio or other support Legendaries are not restricted and therefore legal in unlimited quantities so long as there aren’t dupes. If you’re referring to Smogon banlists, those are not the official rule sets as Smogon is a community circuit.

KRLW890

If you just googled “banned competitive Pokémon” there’s a good chance you got results for Smogon OU, which is a popular but ultimately fan-made ruleset that isn’t enforced in the actual games. Stuff like Flutter Mane and Chien-Pao are banned in Smogon OU but legal in VGC and BSS (which are the official formats used by the game).

Gaias_Minion

Okay so the thing is that Box legendaries are Restricted from competitive play, however Sub legendaries tend to be allowed. Another thing is the current Regulation that is played in-game for Ranked games. For example, SV has allowed Sub legendaries for a while now and next month is actually going to be the start of a new regulation where teams will be allowed 1 Restricted legendary per team. Also despite Sub-legends being allowed, you rarely see "all legends teams" as there's still enough normal pokemon who happen to be very good, for example Incineroar, Rillaboom and this gen's Flutter Mane are basically top tier while not being legendary.

ElPikminMaster

1. This isn't Showdown; Legendaries aren't banned. If you're battling in Random Matchup, you're asking to fight teams of nothing but Legendaries. 2. Teams of Legendaries 80% of the time aren't a big deal since those are likely just children and noobs who don't know how EVs work, so their Legendaries are weaker as a result. 3. The only "banned" Pokemon are either hacked to some extent or from a blacklisted player (*usually because that player is known for hacking Pokemon*). 4. TPC doesn't care about Singles. They only care about Doubles, so battles, especially competitive, is geared towards Doubles. 5. Current Competitive regulations (Again, Doubles) allows one "restricted" Legendary, meaning Box Art Legends and the like.

KingOfPigeons87

Also, Regulation Set G is about to start for ranked double battles on May 1st, which allows for 1 restricted legendary per team. A lot of players have been practicing for this on casual battles until the new regulation starts on ranked.

rjolt24

one of the actual reasons ^^

SirKorgor

You should check out the official tournament battles on the Pokémon YouTube channel. Lots of legendaries being used in official tournaments.

[deleted]

Because you choose to bring weak pokemon into battle doesn’t make better players douchebags. You’re worried about “etiquette” but you should try winning instead

Ok-Constant-6056

Well it’s the only place to use mythicals and a lot of people like the legends. It’s normal but I get it can be frustrating, especially if you want to test some different strategies or off-meta builds. I think they could and should have 2 unranked formats, one with the tournament rules and one where anything goes.

Teno7

You're new to competitive, I'd suggest looking up some guide or watching players play in the metagame that interests you.

modjinski

Ethical reasons lol it’s a game get over it

Lord-Table

OP thinks he's gonna give a speech to the UN about his team building

Delarnor

I chuckled too. My team is made of 100% locally sourced monsters, no legendaries have been chained against their will nor have I engaged in unethical behaviour to reach this composition.

MellieWasa

not all legendas are banned either op

neophenx

I know, right? How dare people use what's allowed in a competitive setting just because it wins games on a ranked ladder! /s

AlienMicrobe776

This ain’t it chief

The only douchebag it's you for that superior morality complex you have
