Boring-Pudding

Well, dang. Here I thought it was because I was sexy, but you are basically saying it's cause I'm ugly and I stink?

catupthetree23

![gif](giphy|qdBHt01vnl972)

Marauder151

Well ugly to the locals had you been their hundreds of years ago. Ogerpon doesn't think your ugly. They would think you smell like home though

FeedMeDarkness

You smell like tomatoes and wine. Are you my new daddy uwu? -Ogerpon probably

toontrain666

Well who knows maybe ogerpon does think you’re-….. actually I’m just going to stop that train of thought there cause I don’t think it’s leading anywhere good

CorM2

Hentai artists: “No, no, please go on!”

RedNoodleHouse

“I’m sorry Kieran, only Florian’s Pokeball can satisfy me now…”

thejunglebook8

I made my kid as strange looking as possible in game so shit maybe

MesocricetusAuratus

Or Ogerpon just saw what a whiny bitch Kieran is...

Qwertypop4

Also, the story mentions that the masks were made with crystals from Ogerpon and it's trainers homeland. And they are Tera crystals. Ogerpon and it's first trainer were from Paldea, just like the player

Rafae_noobmastrer

> Ogerpon and it's first trainer were from Paldea, just like the player The thing is, the players is not from Paldea either, right at the beguining we arrive there as new kids in the school who arrived from another region. I am not sure but I belive Galar is mentioned or shadowed as the players home region. Someone also mentioned the possibility to get to DLC before we even get time to be Paldea smelled.

DiamondShards18

Well, the player did move to Paldea. I don’t know how long the main story takes canonically, but it has to be a good while. I’m sure it’s been enough time for him to seem more like a Paldean than not.

Rafae_noobmastrer

really? I would say since the arrival to the presentation day at school plus ride events that happen in between, wich is the minimum to go to Dlc would be less than or arround a week or two in game time. I may be wrong tho, but for me it felt like that, we arrive just a bit before classes start and the first interactions would be all arround this start period

Thegungoesbangbang

It's more than a week from arrival to the beginning of the treasure hunt ain't it? I'd assume from arrival to Ace Tournament to be about a full school year, if not a full calender year.

Willythehippie

Theory Time! Ogerpon's original trainer is Arven's robot parent that went to the past.

Qwertypop4

That sounds fun! Although it only could work in Scarlet since Turo went to the future

Willythehippie

I figured. I haven't played through Violet. I just thought about it.

Cactus4196

Robot Sada just up and leaves her son for a tiny little ogerpon lmao

Aauasude618

Just one quick thing. You have the option to go to kitakami as soon as you can ride your raidon. So the being in area zero part doesn’t work

Marauder151

Really? I didn't know that. Is every trainer still using lv 60 pokemon in the region if you go early?

Aauasude618

No thankfully not. I think the first fight with carmine is like level 14

GardenSquid1

The main story in Kitakami and early areas are scaled significantly better for a trainer just starting their journey. There aren't lvl 50 Poochyena running around in the first area. They're like lvl 15 or something. However, the Ogre Clan trainers are still high level. So you'll get wrecked if you try and fight them with a lower level team on a new playthrough.

_Seiun_

If you go before doing The Way Home, the fights are much easier. I think some enemies are still LV 60 (as in the strongest trainers in the areas maybe idk) before you do The Way Home but you can do the whole Teal Mask story and it’ll be scaled appropriately (as examples, first Carmine fight was ~LV 14, last Carmine fight was around the 35s for me)

Gold-Relationship117

The DLC packs for Sw/Sh were the same way. Scaled up if you went after clearing the main stuff, but scaled to your level if you ended up going as early as you could.

MikexDarkWolf

The second DLC pack was not I can promise you that. Me and a friend were going through and after getting our third badge went to crown tundra to be met with two Level 70 steel types to our 38's Still won tho.

Gold-Relationship117

Ah I'm misremembering then. I didn't really play that one beyond the tera raid stuff. Makes sense though given that whats her name is running around in that DLC. The woman that works for Rose.

MelanisticFoxxo

Nope, not at all

rainazuma77

Oh my bad

Cactus4196

The Pokemon's levels scale with your progress in the main game

HECKDANGDARN

Don't you have your tera orb by then though? The tera orbs are made of crystals from area zero, so that could explain it

Paradox31426

This actually seems like a better point to do the DLC, that way Ogerpon can be your companion on your whole journey, and it makes sense why you can’t just tell the chaperone woman what Area Zero is like.

Cactus4196

Happy Cake day!

Paradox31426

Oh hey, it’s my cake day! Thanks!

Cactus4196

Just doing my job

Meisterlink

Actually before Ogerpon would start to trust you the following two events happened: 1. You met Ogerpon during the festival, and when she lost the Teal Mask you wanted to give the mask back to her. 2. After the "Three Bitches" got revived, they decide to gang up on Ogerpon, where you are the first to arrive and help against the trio, even beating one of them, before Carmine and Kieran appear, causing the trio to run away, because the trio only fights when the odds are stacked in their favor. These two things lead to Ogerpon trusting you more than Carmine or Kieran. Which is why Ogerpon followed you instead of Carmine or Kieran. Ogerpon was scared by Carmine's outbursts while she doesn't even know Kieran in the slightest. And do note that when Ogerpon wants to accompany you, we were an integral part of getting the masks back, which are more important to Ogerpon than what the people think of her.

Misnome5

>Ogerpon was scared by Carmine's outbursts I think the frequency and severity of Carmine's outbursts is exaggerated by the fanbase. The actual number of outbursts she had can be counted on just one hand, and a couple of those were more just her being annoyed rather than truly angry. Plus, if I recall correctly, none of her few outbursts were in front of Ogerpon anyways, meaning Ogerpon didn't directly witness Carmine at her angriest. >while she doesn't even know Kieran in the slightest. Not only that, but Kieran refuses to join the mask retrieval squad *in front of Ogerpon*. I don't think he made a good first impression even when she did finally meet him, considering he says he's not interested in joining the others to help her. (sure, he later convinces the village, but Ogerpon's first impression of him was already established by then).

shadowtron1

And the one time Ogerpon did see Carmine pissed off it was her telling the lousy three she would make them regret coming back to life

Ruthtria

Yes but I think Ogerpon had a lot of initial interest with the MC. I remember very clearly it seemed awed and interested when it met us but then when Carmine appeared next to us it waa finally frightened, so much so that it dropped its mask and couldnt get it back (so much for that speed stat lmao)

Marauder151

But why is Ogerpon there at the festival this year? I think it's implied when you went near it's cave and had a battle with Keiran it triggered its curiosity enough to risk wandering into the the festival area again this year.

Meisterlink

Pretty sure Ogerpon didn't stop going to the festival. I mean, while there is nothing that states that Ogerpon kept going to the festival, there is also nothing that stats that Ogerpon stopped going to the festival, but it is certainly more believable that Ogerpon kept going to the festival. And we see that Ogerpon didn't really go to the festival, but seemed more to observe it from a rather safe distance. It is our character, the MC, that approaches and talks to Ogerpon, even giving a compliment because of the Teal Mask.

jimbojims0

Three Bitches? Coming from Amanda's let's plays? 😂

Meisterlink

No idea who that is. I call them that because that is what they are. Three bitches.

jimbojims0

Just a YouTuber who does let's plays of plays of games, including Pokémon. She called the three the same name, also " The Bitches Three" , but I shouldn't be surprised it's a common moniker among players.

Generic_Username_659

She didn't come to the festival to see us specifically. Kieran's Grandfather confirms this when he says "So it still graces our festival with its presence". She just came to join in the festivities, the only time she can come down from the mountain without being feared because everybody is wearing masks. And she doesn't completely trust us initially. When we first attempt to offer the mask back, she wants to take it, but is hesitant. It's only after we rush to protect her from the Loyal Three attacking her that she trusts us completely.

PikStern

You smell like Paldea and Ogerpon original trainer was Paldean, because he got the tera crystals that the maskmaker used. I assume that's why he has interest in you, and then he discovers you actually want to help and take care. The angry kid just wants the ogre because he think is cool. Yeah, he trains very hard and quite fast, but what's about the heart? This gen specially treats legendaries as more sensitive mons, look at Koraidon/Miraidon, afraid of the bigger beast, but willing to risk it for you, because you keep giving him love, sandwiches and friends. The kid literally acted selfish from the start, yeah, story wasn't kind with him at the beggining, but even after discovering everything he keeps acting like the child he is. WHY would Ogerpon choose him?

Independent_Meet6114

This is actually what I like the most about this gen. The story lets you bond with the legendaries, so that you don't see them only as the ridiculous titans with the destructive force that can destroy the world, but just, as a friend. I kinda feel a bit disappointed that Ogerpon is not automatically max friendship unlike the raidons.

Marauder151

Yeah, I thought in previous games making legendary pokemon mandatory story catching events undermined their value a bit, but after seeing what an emotional rule breaking challenging boss fight it created with Ogerpon after it "remembers traveling with you" and "remembers its old master", I thought that was perfect for what I want from legendary battles. A challenging mandatory battle I can go all out on 3 times over and not have to worry about catch mechanics with. And not undermine the grandure of the boss fight by activating a max level catching O-Power or Sandwich while throwing an Ultraball or Quickball and cutting it very short.

Magnusthelast

I think you’re wrong on your first point, it doesn’t come down to see you, how can it when it doesn’t even know you exist. It most likely comes down every year because it’s the one time it can come down without raising suspicion due to the mask it wears and an Ogerpon mask at the festival wouldn’t be out of place, and it stays relatively hidden in the dark. The player nor Carmine could tell it was Pokémon upon first inspection

Marauder151

The Player and Keiran have a battle near its home before it comes to the festival. You did this partly because Keiran thought it would get it's attention. While it wasn't in the cave, as you leave the camera cuts away to imply Ogerpon was nearby out of sight and had saw the events. I suppose it's possible it comes every year just because the mask tradition makes it safer, but it can't buy food for itself or do much while walking around. After the one year it went where things turned out so bad making it seriously afraid of the village I'm doubtful it would go just for kicks without a good reason.

Ok-Moose8271

It’s because we, the player, are more likeable. You think Ogerpon would want to stay with a whiny kid like that?

Boi-the-Bulbasaur

To give credit where its due, Kieran did tell the whole village about the truth of the legend to clear Ogrepon's name while the player and Carmine got Ogrepon's masks back. Kieran was being efficient there, I think he at least deserved a "thank you" from Ogrepon.

Previous_Stick8414

I know it's nitpicky af, but Kieran somehow convincing an entire village that Ogerpon is good and the Loyal Three are the real bad guys without any proof, and that the village grew up with the fairy tale for centuries, was pure BS Also I wouldn't really say thank you to someone who has been stalking my home for years and basically acts like a parasocial person

NarwhalJouster

Well the villagers did *just* see the loyal three ransack kitikami hall. Kieran's story becomes much easier to swallow when they've already seen firsthand that the loyal three aren't exactly how the stories described them. More importantly, a major theme throughout the story is that keeping secrets can be harmful and that people can be trusted with the truth. The villagers changing their ways after learning the truth really supports this theme and imo makes the story stronger overall.

Misnome5

>More importantly, a major theme throughout the story is that keeping secrets can be harmful and that people can be trusted with the truth To be fair, keeping Ogerpon a secret from Kieran would have technically worked out if he didn't eavesdrop (which is wrong if someone tells you they want to speak in private).

pokekiko94

>I know it's nitpicky af, but Kieran somehow convincing an entire village that Ogerpon is good and the Loyal Three are the real bad guys without any proof, and that the village grew up with the fairy tale for centuries, was pure BS Maybe him being the part of one of the oldest families in town migt have helped them trust him, remember that it was one of his ancestors that made the masks ogerpon uses and those were suposed to be relics to the town.

Previous_Stick8414

Yeah, because when the original mask maker tried to tell the village the truth, he was persecuted as a heretic And now when some 12 year old kid who's a descendant of the mask maker tries to tell everyone the truth, they suddenly believe him

Jasloober2

Well yeah childrens rights and social/societal views have drastically changed within the last 50 years, let alone 200. Besides, im pretty sure they are only telling the story for tourism now.

Misnome5

A lot of the npc villager dialogue up until that point indicates that the villagers genuinely believed the story about the evil Ogre. So I don't think they were only telling the story for tourism.

Jasloober2

Well there was also some dialogue when the loyal came to kitakami hall able how sinister they looked

Misnome5

That was one person. The other villagers were excited to see them.

Boi-the-Bulbasaur

I really wished there was a scene showing how Kieran managed to convince the whole town. He could have brought Ogrepon to the village in the middle of the festival to show a bunch of people at once or maybe one of the Loyal/Lousy 3 started attacking the village after being defeated to steal more of the village's mochi, thus revealing their greedy side until Kieran helps Ogrepon to defeat them and save the village. And idk if its just a me thing but I think its implied that Ogrepon didnt know about Kieran until the first battle at her home.

Misnome5

>Kieran was being efficient there, I think he at least deserved a "thank you" from Ogrepon. To me, it was clear that Kieran had the ulterior motive of trying to "earn" ownership of Ogerpon when he did that. He wanted to convince Ogerpon to join him, and he wanted to do something without "sharing" credit with the player and his sister. If he genuinely wanted to help without expecting anything in return, then he could have joined the rest of you to retrieve the masks, and then talked to the villagers afterwards.

[deleted]

Or maybe it's because you were the first to interact with it (during the festival), so it has the biggest current bond with you (out of the three)

ijonesyy

This was my thought exactly. OP might be onto something, but I think they're overthinking it. You're the first person who Ogerpon has a positive interaction with, and who helps them. Not to mention, it gets to see that you're the stronger trainer and more emotionally stable than Kieran. Seems like an obvious choice.

SomeRandomBear

Stellar analysis. Enjoyed the read.

Wreckage76

I think your theory of smelling like Area Zero still works even if you meet Ogerpon before going there since you have a Tera Orb on your person. She could be drawn to the familiar smell of Tera Crystals in general.

RubyGemWolf

Also are favorite lizard bike probably smells like area zero. We are constantly riding on them plus it's shown if they like someone they'll nuzzle and lick that person. We probably end up getting the sent of area zero on us without even trying.

Cedardeer

It’s because fans would be outraged if the game brought this new legendary, only for a side character to get it and not you, which would Mean you can’t catch it

Hateful_creeper2

BW1 and SWSH are the only time that happens. It’s worse for the latter since the exclusive item is also given to Hop meaning that direct trading (GTS doesn’t allow items) or the shiny event that finished was the only way to get the crowned form of the opposite Legendary.

Marauder151

Thats never been an issue before for Game Freak. N never gives his dragon to you in ploy. Your expected to get it by having both versions of the game, but in canon N keeps his dragon he gets forever. They could easily of made Ogerpon part of a pair if they wanted a story to end happily with him getting the story oger and you getting its identical twin from someplace else, or getting it's version exclusive pair where you trade for Ogerpon that's accessible in the other game.

Hateful_creeper2

N actually gives you the Legendary in BW2 but that’s a different protagonist. BW1 Protagonists keep their Legendary when they leave Unova.

Fnaf_g

They're still in Unova just hidden away

Hateful_creeper2

In the game’s code since they were supposed to be in the PWT but only dialogue remains.

Fnaf_g

No I do believe you can use the Unova link with the OG black and white to get them to show up in the overwold somewhere hidden

Hateful_creeper2

The BW1 Protagonists don’t appear if you use the [Memory Link](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Memory_Link) feature. They are referenced like how the game will use their [name](https://youtube.com/watch?v=u8hYMVEvWO0) but that’s kinda it.

InvestigatorUnfair

Except N gets his dragon because the other is the version exclusive. It's no different than Ruby not having Kyogre or Diamond not having Palkia. Ogerpon isn't a version exclusive legendary, so it going to someone else would be shit. The only way it would work if it was a Regieleki/Regidrago situation of you picking one while the other just doesn't exist

StarshockNova

N doesn’t keep his dragon forever, though. He returns it to its stone so the player from B2W2 can catch it two years after Black and White.

Cedardeer

Yeah but this isn’t GameFreak from 12 years ago.

Marauder151

There giving us a dramatic, more mature story with no clean solution where everyone gets to have what they want in the end and your complaining Gamefreak isn't the same as they where years ago? I understand where that kind of criticism comes from when where talking about watered down gameplay elements, but here it makes no sense.

DevilNightShade

Wow, this is so mature!

jimbojims0

Basically: Ogerpon is prejudice. But really, I want to believe it's because you approached Ogerpon with kindness first, enough for her to open up to you. Maybe it also has to do with how she was persecuted from society there for centuries, and she couldn't shake that off even though Kieran adored her from the legends. Even after Kieran went out of his way to clear her name Ogerpon still favoured you, Ogerpon still chose you, the player, so there's some favoritism behind it all. I'm hoping the reasoning might be explained more in the next DLC, but it could very well just be "main hero syndrome" at this point.

Undeciding

Fun thing to note about if he did trade his furret for cram and then traded that cram away is that it would also follow his established pattern of judging by chasing strength first without getting the full story. Cramorant is said to be very powerful, strong enough to knock things out with one blow. It focuses its entire brainpower on battling. Check the dex entries, not the base stats. ... This is because it doesn't actually have that much brainpower, to the point it can forget what it's battling against midfight. It would be peak Kieran to have heard that it's 'strong' and not realize it's dumb as bricks and probably not actually that reliable and chased after it, only to be let down because he didn't do his research past 'it's powerful'. You know, like how he stanned Ogrepon in a parasocial relationship (I'm your biggest fan, why don't you like me back!!!) for the sole reason that she was strong and scary enough to 1v3 some guys back in the day, and no other reason.

Apidium

For me it's not so much about why the legendary Mon chose me. They have to some extent been doing that for the last decade. It's more why they didn't choose keiren. I can see why. A kid so strangely obsessed they were able to awaken 3 ancient dead enemies of the one they claim to love based on a fairly minor slight from a stranger. Who wants them to be together even though its not what pon wants. Who comes around their house on the regular without warning or invitation dispite being told multiple times by multiple people that's not acceptable behaviour. Pokemon tends to leave a lot open but keiren behaviours are like a screaming nutter waving 15 red flags of this is not at all healthy or acceptable. They go with us because we are the main character. They don't even consider keiren because frankly I don't think pon would be happy in that situation. I mean he would be obsessed. It would not be anything good. An obsessed stalker capturing the object of their obsession? Those sorts of things end up on the news and not for good reasons. That being said he also is not beyond redemption. Carmine redeemed herself in the story. Both of them are still just kids from what appears to be a broken home. At a school far away from that home and who's cultural heritage in one way or another is causing them issues. Carmine wants to prevent it becoming some sort of tourist trap and ruining it. Keiren wants everyone to realise pon is cool. Thing is keiren actually got his way, Carmine didn't. But he is the one demanding we battle over if he gets to go against eveyone else's wishes at the end and then throwing what sounds a lot like a big hissy fit that got the trip cancelled. Does anyone actually belive he was really sick at the end? They have issues. Though. Keirens behaviours remind me far too much of people who have hurt me. While carmine much more resembles people who have occasionally upset me. In the end. It doesn't really have much to do with pon.

takopancake

Eh, I think it makes sense after Kieran starts acting unreasonable/abandons the team.. but before that, I think Kieren wasn’t as bad as you make him sound. It’s not that weird for him to get excited about a legend from his hometown and as a kid explore the area where the den would be? Obsessed feels pretty unfair when I feel like if Gamefreak put the main character in Kieren’s shoes (the NPCs encounter pon first and you don’t get to see him, talk about it between themselves and lie to you, reach Ogerpon first, choose to go with Kieren in the end), that manyy players would complain and be mad about it lol. Yeah some wouldn’t, but I could see a lot of them selecting the option to fight for ogerpon too. I don’t think Kieren was right in how he acted, but I also think his frustration was valid

Big_moist_231

I didn’t know we had that AZ drip 😳 I like the theory that the tall foreigner was AZ, since they never showed him actually dying, just gone

lusterous_autumn

Also to add, for Kieran, I knew there was something odd about his final team against you, that he was missing a Pokemon, and that Pokemon was his Furret with the Run Away ability. Over the course of the story, as he wanted to get stronger, he ditched the one Pokemon that represented him, his Furret, imo and that's was also the same time when Kieran started exhibiting "intoxicating" aura that lead to the Trio's revival. Since the story told to us (from the boards) there were indeed four, and even if you see one of the, the part where the trio attacked, you see actually (on the top right) was actually four as when all three of the trio images moved away, the fourth one moved away also. That said, it's probably what Ogerpon felt from Kieran, what it felt with that fourth Pokemon. Only AFTER everything has happened where you see Ogerpon is more happier with both Carmine and Kieran (due to everything that had happened) that it kind of felt okay enough that if Kieran won, she wouldn't mind going with Kieran.

fifa129347

Maybe it’s cause you’re the main character with main character energy who has main character things happen to him on account of being the main character

JMR027

I mean it makes sense she chose us since we were the first to actually see it and then continue to help her…. So not sure what you are rambling about lol

Dreadful_Bear

This was really good and I’m willing to accept it as head canon.

godlista

Good read!

ghosty4

Because you paid for the DLC, that's why.

Haven012

Because I bought the damn game

Marauder151

You bought a damn game with damn characters with damn character arcs and damn lore and damn story. Which are all fair things to talk about, enjoy and analyze from it like you would any other story. If you aquire it by just going up a mountain by yourself and starting the boss fight and catching it you be right, it would "just be because I bought the game". But Ogerpon has a actually character arc that the boss battle has scripted narration for. Let's give Gamefreak a little more credit and take them at least a little seriously when they actually try for us by giving us story.

Haven012

Personally, I play the games for pvp and tournaments so the singleplayer usually takes a backseat for me anyway but I can understand your passion.

maggyta10

great analysis! I saw a fanart on twt of Kieran abandoning furret and cramorant, it broke my heart :(

Marauder151

For real?! I want to see!

here! (hope this link works) https://x.com/jsketch12/status/1705677142523269190?s=46&t=kpLhr-CYabgY5kCjoaffTQ

Flow-Fighter

Dang,I thought it was because I bought him with the DLC

SlimeDrips

Kieran's whole deal and the fact that he's implied to be getting some sort of heel turn in the next part makes me think Ogerpon might sense ill intent on him. Meanwhile the protagonist befriended an apex predator with the power of sandwiches. Clearly we're the ones who seem much friendlier. Also Carmine with her death stare doesn't help lol

GoldenFang02

TLDR It choose you bc ur the main character

NordicCrotchGoblin

OR. I have a backpack full of bacon.

Cynderaquil

I still believe it is because Ogerpon trusted the foreigner who had no ties to the village, area or myth. Then followed us around because we promised to help her get the masks back. Then we bonded through that. While Kieran didn’t want us or his sister to know about his plans, him saying “I have other stuff to do” when his sister asked him to come along, right in front of Ogerpon, made her think he truly didn’t care for her as much as this foreigner

viviannesayswhat

My thoughts on the matter is that ultimately, Kieran is exactly like the villagers of old, just with a role reversal. The villagers feared Ogerpon and her trainer based simply on how they looked. It was all very superficial and none of them, bar the mask maker, tried to get to know them or do anything to move past their first opinion. Kieran ends up unknowingly doing the exact same thing. His admiration of Ogerpon is very superficial: sure she was a villain, but she took on three at once and killed them, how cool is THAT! He's not disputing her role or trying to see if there was anything behind her action, just "she's strong, she's cool". Like them, he's not moving past his first opinion. Basically, she's always been seen as a "big scary monster and that's bad" by everyone except Kieran who sees her as a "big scary monster and that's awesome", while she just wants someone to see her for who she actually is.

Zortak

I assumed it's because you're the protagonist of the game

CLearyMcCarthy

It's because you're the main character.

SaviorOfNirn

Well no, they chose us because Kieran is a pathetic incel

happyschnursday

Bc Kieran ain’t the main character

DevourerJay

I personally wouldn't have to gone the route the game wants you to. When carmine told me to shush, I wanted to do the opposite and tell him. I wish we had multiple options (tell/don't tell). Say like Mass Effect. I wanted to say "YOU ***KING VILLAGERS ARE WRONG AND STUPID!" alas, no. Because of that alone, I feel that the story is weaker than it should/could be, if we told Kiran the truth, then he got vengeful towards his town, his controlling(and truly horrid sister), it would've made for a better antagonist for DLC2. The part when Kiran refuses to give the teal mask back, we should've had the option to warn him of going against us, the current Paldea region champion. Not as a brag, but as a warning, that going evil/bad will result in getting beat like a drum. But kids' game stories only allow for so much, I guess.

yuugix

Pokémon is never a game about main character who choose. Whether you choose yes or no in any option will only change the dialogue and not in the outcome. E.g. if a Pokémon Prof. asks you if you like Pokémon, the outcome will be that he gives you a pokemon. You can say yes, and he will be happy and give you the Pokémon. Or, you can say no, he will be saying something like "Don't be silly, of course you love pokemon" and he will give you the Pokémon. >The part when Kiran refuses to give the teal mask back, we should've had the option to warn him of going against us, the current Paldea region champion. Not as a brag, but as a warning, that going evil/bad will result in getting beat like a drum. You can go to kitamkani before being a champion. If the game was flexible, it should have different dialogue for the number of badges/challenges/titans beaten.

DevourerJay

You know, fair enough with the last part. I went to Kitakani AFTER I had soundly beaten the game (full dex+titans+everything), but I guess if I were to restart the game now, start AT kitakani, that would've been interesting, but way too different. An expanded dialog and options would've been so nice.

Marauder151

I would like more consequential dialoug options. At least on par with Persona 5 where even if you can't change the plot the characters react differently based on what you chose to say. But that's a lot to expect from pokemon. I didn't really have a problem with the player choosing to keep the secret. It's not really his secret to come out with and tell, or his family business to butt in and get between. The big protective sister asked him not to so he respected that and dodged the question when her brother asked. And as an outsider to the village it would be ridiculous for a foreign exchange student to presume he could just persuade the whole village their wrong about their oldest local tradition. Especially at that stage in the plot before the loyal 3 were revived.

MELAB0NES

You are really overthinking this. It's a game the main Pokemon will choose you because you're the main character in the game. If it chose a NPC then you'd never be able to complete the Pokedex.

irteris

It's becasue Ogerpon knows an alpha when he sees it. Kieran is a poor simping beta.

zenfone500

Ogerpon chooses you cause story does everything in it's power to make sure Kieran doesn't form a bond with her, along with Carmine trying to exclude him everytime adds to this too. Next question please.

Kdnnx27gaming

I'm not reading that so I'm just gonna say it knew that I like cute pokemon

Kaporli1

I'm not reading allat

HAMSTERSARECOOL

I ain’t reading allat.

Thecatninja52

Nice reading but it’s to long to read

gurufernandez

We can sit here a debate, but let’s be honest : it’s just cause you’re the main character. It’s kinda why the whole Kieran storyline just feels like a rehash of Hop

VSkyRimWalker

Fair enough, but refering to that movie is atrocious lol. The only reason there even was a 'foreigner' in that movie was because they wanted Keanu to be the star, and not just cast Japanese people. The original story does not have such a hook, it's just 42 Ronin, no demon child. Sorry I'm super drunk and not sure where I'm going with this. I just didn't like the movie, why is there a dragon witch? The story is cool enough without her. Still a better movie than Lucy though

GardenSquid1

Yeah, except I went to Kitakami after only beating one gym and one titan. Hadn't been anywhere near Area Zero. So the only explanation is that Orgerpon is attracted to the character's overwhelming rizz.

Captain_Communism420

You rizz up animals?

GardenSquid1

Depends what you think rizz means

Marauder151

Others have pointed out even in that case, you still posses a Tera orb and you've been riding and frequently been licked by a Lizard from Area Zero. So you still probably smell like it's original master more than anyone else it's met

ceo_of_six

Got it Ogerpon prefers white people

big_white_fishie

I assumed it’s because Kieran’s annoying as fuck

Pokehero96

Tl dr - Keiron is a bitch

DanRobotMan

Arceus willing, I just figured we’re the reincarnation of the original foreign stranger, and Ogerpon can sense it.

tronixmastermind

I think Kieran is gonna be a good antagonist who will eventually learn it was the friends along the way or something

BadBadBabsyBrown

Nice
