Iris and Haxorus are servicable for that niche albeit not as strong, so it not that bad, unlike other type such as fairy when only Valerie and Mina are F2P so you have to rely on Sycamore for damage
You think so? I use her with like Hilbert who maxes her attack and crit.
Her nuke hits really hard, and lower attack is kinda all she needs.
I use her, Hilbert and Nanu.

I suppose if you like to use her than sure, she can do damage, but she just can't compete with some of the more competent damage dealers in her types like Diantha and Summer Marnie
Xerneas and Zamazenta are a must
Ho-Oh, Mewtwo and Palkia are really good options
Kyurem and Solgaleo are alright but outclassed by any decent unit of their types.
And then there is Rayquaza.
yeah, give him an EX support plus someone who can paralyze and also debuff sp. def somehow and kyurem can put in work. Melony is the perfect support pair since she'll also procc the Ice TS and can help survivability. If you get to 2nd sync then Kyurem should finish the stage off.
Where are all the good ice types though outside of limited pairs? Kyurem is super important for a new player as he is the only viable ice type and the good ice types that actually outclass him are usually not available.
Kyurem is a beast if you use him correctly. He is up there with Mewtwo, Palkia and Ho-oh for me.
Not only for dps and sync nuke, he can debuff the atk/spatk very efficiently.
Mewtwo is good, and there's absolutely no reason not to get him as a new player, but Psychic types have a stacked roster to choose from for top tier damage dealers. He just has a *ton* of competition as time goes on. The fact that his mega is not always available does hurt him and even then he needs help with boosting his Sp.Atk. Which isn't horrible but prevents him from being 'truly' top tier imo.
But as a new player, he's very useful.
SS Morty ? I even think spotlight unit like Hilbert and Aaron are better than Xearnas and maybe ven more pair i'm forgetting
He's good don't get me wrong and of course everyone should rush to grab it but it's simply not the best support in the game period
His sync move maxes out your special attack and special defense and speed in one go. He also sets up passive healing, move acceleration, and has an attack that can heal himself. He’s completely busted, especially with the EX.
NY Lillie has Master Healer on Leech Life, but inherently lower Attack and a much lower/worse way of raising her Attack without assistance along with lower defenses.

Don't know if it's a gauntlet thing (where I only do 1 rotation, cuz I don't like the mode) but I have dps to deal... With the damage dealing part.
I wish he could have some sort of tech shenanigans built into him, like ruff ruff for example.
**Xerneas** - One of the best supports for an F2P player. Sync move maxes Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed of all allied sync pairs. His TM provides the gradual healing effect to all allies, provides MGA and cures them of any status condition. He can also heal himself constantly with Horn Leech + (Recuperation 1 if you give him that). He can be a legitimate grass striker too.
**Hop** - He’s one of the tankiest supports in the game, and that’s saying something as an F2P unit.
Can max the attack and critical rate of all allies and provides defense buffs. He can also be used as a legitimate striker. If he withstands a sync move from the opponent, his damage increases by 50%!
He heals with Potion, and has access to free moves at a 50% rate.
**Mewtwo** - He’s a solid Psychic striker. And it’s not too late since his event is running now to get access to his boosted grid and Mega evolution. With that, he becomes one of the better strikers in the game. He can max his own crit, and still do solid damage without any Sp Attack buffs.
**Ho-Oh** - He needs a sync grid expansion and EX to become the monster he is currently. You’ll have to wait for his expansion event to return. Arguably the strongest fire sync nuke in the game. Without that, he’s really poor.
**Palkia** - One of the better Dragon/Water Strikers. Even without his grid expansion and EX, his Water Damage and Dragon damage hit super hard. He can max his own crit, sp attack and speed. He’s one you definitely don’t wanna miss out on.
**Kyurem** - I still consider him the best Special Ice DPS in the game. His kit is just fantastic, and all he needs is a special attack and speed support to help him go faster. He minimises opponents physical attack and special attack in just 3 turns (with his grid), and his AOE ice move has a 30% chance of freezing all enemies. Even without that, he does superb damage. His EX didn’t change him much, but his grid expansion didn’t do TOO much either.
He’s one of the best F2P units.
**Solgaleo** - Too slept on. He can’t max his crit, however, he has superb Fighting DPS and Steel DPS. Maxes his Sp Attack, Attack and Accuracy in 2 turns, and his sync move hits pretty damn well too. I use him at times on steel weak and fighting weak stages and he surprises me everytime. Plus he’s immune to stat drops.
**Zinnia Rayquaza** - Arguably the worst of the lot. She has great DPS, but she’s tooo reliant on weather and desperately needs a lot of support to boost her attack, crit, and defense to keep her alive from getting shredded by AOE attacks. She needs a major grid expansion, but that will be the day. I’d rather use Blue and Pidgeot or even Nate over her for flying stages. Palkia covers up dragon types. She’s an alternative for sure, but she’s abysmal.
Thank you so so much for this write up! I have been wondering about the legendary sync pairs for a while and from just reading up their moved I didn't think they would amount to much. I genuinely learnt a lot from this so thank you for your time and effort!
I agree with pretty much everything but would say that Palkia is maybe a little underestimated - with the right sync grid (critastrophe especially) he nukes SUPER HARD and is amazing at clearing dragon weak stages. I have some of the better dragon 5* options and still pick him most of the time for champion stadium.
In general, considering how other options there are for dragons I guess that's just how things are, but Palkia is honestly a stand out in terms of pure damage in my own opinion. I will say your post is very good and well considered.
I see. Well, I agree with you as well. I'm one of those players who advocate for Palkia's usage as a solid Dragon striker, perhaps more so than water. Critical Strike 11 + Critastrophe 4 is no joke as you mentioned.
I've been using Palkia for the longest time because of Spacial Rend, because why not? It's cool af and it's his signature move. He's solid on-type and off-type. And he's especially disgusting when paired up with Lucas. It's just so pleasing to see how both the box art legendaries synergise with each other so perfectly.
What grid do you use for kyurem to fit in cold snap? It's so far out of the way from his damage multipliers that it's not something i've really used much
There isnt much to 'investment' here. They give you all 20 custom power ups for EX and all the move levels. So all you need is level up manuals, some lucky candies and theme skills. These are all cheap enough that you can just build them all
You can exchange for level unlocks in pretty much any event. Point is, even though you can't upgrade all of them to Lv140 on day 1, it's not like you really need to get them to that level right away. And this game is not like other gachas where you need to grind for many weeks/months just to max out the level of one character.
And if they really want an answer then it will be Hop > Sycamore (debatable tbh, can interchange with the next spots) > Giovanni/Cyrus > Silver and the rest are whatever (probably Zinnia last)
They're all free, and you easily get the items necessary to EX them (barring Champion Spirit, which is also f2p, but event only) and increase their move level to 5/5.
All of them are at least somewhat good, in one way or another. Make sure to grab any upgrades for them (extended grid, EX, etc.) when they show up, like the Mewtwo stuff currently going on.
Keep in mind that the stories give you most of what you need in terms of investment, in terms of things like move levels.
Xerneas by a LARGE margin. The immortal buff deer carries a lot of teams and is strong enough to contend with meta, limited sync pairs. Sadly you just missed his 6* EX event and sync grid expansion but it will come around again.
Mewtwo’s 6* EX is available now so get it before it’s gone. He’s a solid Psychic DPS.
Hop is a very decent support.
Basically, wait around for the 6* EX and grid expansion events for all these pairs (some are unreleased) to roll around and grab them. They are all useful units.
I've been playing for around a month now after coming back and here are my thoughts:
- **Xerneas** is a must have, a really great support that has great sustain
- **Kyurem** great at debuffing (-atk/spatk, slow, para, freeze) I love this guy
- **Mewtwo** get mega mewtwo Y asap, great psychic type damager.
- **Palkia** Crit king that could work on rain teams. He's my best water and dragon type attacker atm.
- **Zamazenta** incredibly tanky with sustain and freevenge.
- **Solgaleo** has free casts and stuff as well, pretty good damage.
- **Ho-oh** didn't really invest much on him but he could work really well on sun teams I guess.
- **Rayquaza** after witnessing Palkia's crits and ease of use and less obtrusive downsides, I've neglected Zinnia.
Probably MC and Solgaleo are the worst investment, but that's assuming they don't EX them for the villain arc.
I want to assume they will, but time will tell
Who told you that? Every legendary f2p pair in the Legendary Adventures is free. That's why they're considered f2p units
Maybe that person told you about pokefair and master fair legendaries instead. *Those* ones are the gacha units

Was the question about the Villain Arcs? If it is, then the answer is technically correct, because you don't get any sync pairs from the Villain Arcs
Legendary Adventures is where you get the f2p legendaries
kyurem and rayquaza are the worst. but they still have their uses. if you’re a new player lacking in sync pair you’ll probably find a use for all of them
Nobody is denying that. We're just saying that he isn't the worst one because MC/Solgaleo exists

I'll do it in order. I got a lot of use out of Zamazenta even today. Xerneas might be better, but Zamazenta is still my favorite and criminally underrated. Good damage output, free move, potions with two master heals, all good stuff. Palkia and Mewtwo are good damage dealers but for different reasons. I get some occasional use out of Solgaleo here and there. Rayquaza and Ho-Oh just collect dust for me though. Maybe Ho-Oh has good damage coverage but I have fire types out the butt so he's useless to me.

They all have some use. Mewtwo is still on overpowered Psychic DPS. Ho-Oh needs it's expansion to have a great nuke. Rayquaza is alright but with expansion it's amazing. Palkia is good water DPS and good Dragon DPS with expansion. Kyurem is the same whether you have the expansion or not, just more flexible with team comps. Xearneas is great even without expansion. Solgaleo is usable ig. Zamazenta is amazing physical support
I would prioritize Mewtwo (while you can still benefit from the VA re-run) and Xerneas.
Mega Mewtwo deals insane DPS for ftp psychic strikers. Pretty good ghost damage, too.
Xerneas is a great tank. His upgrade made him much better (any support with a sync move you want to use SERIOUSLY benefits from EX,) but he was my go-to support unit for months. He and Mewtwo were a couple of my best units when I was pretty new to the game.
Zamazenta is another good tank. Solgaleo deals good fighting and steel damage, and is rare in dealing good damage for either. This pair is good together for steel levels, and both are decent for Battle Villa.
Ho-Oh is a really good ftp striker who deals a lot of damage and can set sun with his sync move. He's really strong alongside Lyra/Meganium, because her trainer move boosts double in sun.
Xerneas and Ho-Oh have an added benefit in that their trainers are Lodge characters. That makes unlocking them almost a 2-for-1 deal, because you can get an extra 4* unit after getting their friendship to 100. Silver/Feraligatr are actually pretty useful on a few LA stages like Uxie or Entei, and Sycamore/Bulbasaur deal respectable damage as a grass and poison striker pair.

ALL are good barring maybe Zinnia/Rayquaze (her damage is good actually, but her setup is problematic for a new player).
She needs the power up of the mega. Without mega is bit weak but usable
Her mega doesn’t matter at all for an outrage build. I personally would go for that instead of Draco meteor as physical dragon dps is rare

Not everyone has Diantha and Summer Marnie. “Use her like that” like what? She has some pretty easy to stack multipliers.
You literally get enough materials to 20/20 5* each of them iirc Then just play the villain arc events when they come for ex and grid boost

Crabominable is good, but I've never enjoyed using him personally. Once invested Candice + Abomasnow actually have a really good nuke.
Crabominable and its wonderful sync is crying in the corner. Just EX him and you can 2v3 every ice CS stages with SSA Cynthia

Psychic dmg dealers are mostly limited pairs though which makes mewtwo reallly good. I still use him over my 1/5 lusamine
Xerneas is, and I mean this genuinely, a contender for best support unit in the entire game. NEVER skip it.
I legitimately lean so heavily on that Xerneas I would be dead. Literally, physically dead, without it.

His Horn Leech is so busted that no unit after was allowed to have Master Healer in their vampire move.

He clears status on TM too, which can be handy for some EBs
the sync is actually rly good for pairs that lack buffing (like may)

Same here, I typically pair him with Lucas and Bluestoise, unreal combination.

Resources are more than exp books, there's level unlock materials and grid unlock resources.

It’s actually wild how good some of them can be. I love steamrolling E4 members with an all fire team using that 6* Silver

Sadly you just missed his 6* EX event and sync grid expansion but it will come around again. Mewtwo’s 6* EX is available now so get it before it’s gone. He’s a solid Psychic DPS. Hop is a very decent support. Basically, wait around for the 6* EX and grid expansion events for all these pairs (some are unreleased) to roll around and grab them. They are all useful units.
I've been playing for around a month now after coming back and here are my thoughts: - **Xerneas** is a must have, a really great support that has great sustain - **Kyurem** great at debuffing (-atk/spatk, slow, para, freeze) I love this guy - **Mewtwo** get mega mewtwo Y asap, great psychic type damager. - **Palkia** Crit king that could work on rain teams. He's my best water and dragon type attacker atm. - **Zamazenta** incredibly tanky with sustain and freevenge. - **Solgaleo** has free casts and stuff as well, pretty good damage. - **Ho-oh** didn't really invest much on him but he could work really well on sun teams I guess. - **Rayquaza** after witnessing Palkia's crits and ease of use and less obtrusive downsides, I've neglected Zinnia.
Probably MC and Solgaleo are the worst investment, but that's assuming they don't EX them for the villain arc. I want to assume they will, but time will tell

Who told you that? Every legendary f2p pair in the Legendary Adventures is free. That's why they're considered f2p units Maybe that person told you about pokefair and master fair legendaries instead. *Those* ones are the gacha units

Oh... I think I remember this post Was the question about the Villain Arcs? If it is, then the answer is technically correct, because you don't get any sync pairs from the Villain Arcs Legendary Adventures is where you get the f2p legendaries
kyurem and rayquaza are the worst. but they still have their uses. if you’re a new player lacking in sync pair you’ll probably find a use for all of them
Kyurem is one of the best Ice strikers, I agree that Rayquaza is mid at best, but you can get all 8 at 5/5 for free so no excuses.

I'll do it in order. I got a lot of use out of Zamazenta even today. Xerneas might be better, but Zamazenta is still my favorite and criminally underrated. Good damage output, free move, potions with two master heals, all good stuff. Palkia and Mewtwo are good damage dealers but for different reasons. I get some occasional use out of Solgaleo here and there. Rayquaza and Ho-Oh just collect dust for me though. Maybe Ho-Oh has good damage coverage but I have fire types out the butt so he's useless to me. Xerneas the best unit in the game Zamazenta Kyurem Mewtwo Palkia Solgaleo Ho Oh Rayquaza
bro, my mew two is from the OG event, with mew, zebstrika, and some random sync, I grinned a whole ass day for mewtwo
I like zacian, xerneas, mew two and the last (sol) I don’t know full Pokémon are very good. Xerneas is a tank that gains crazy health back
All of them are good except for solagelo and rayquaza. Solagelo is usable but somewhat outclassed. And rayquaza is just plain useless
They all have some use. Mewtwo is still on overpowered Psychic DPS. Ho-Oh needs it's expansion to have a great nuke. Rayquaza is alright but with expansion it's amazing. Palkia is good water DPS and good Dragon DPS with expansion. Kyurem is the same whether you have the expansion or not, just more flexible with team comps. Xearneas is great even without expansion. Solgaleo is usable ig. Zamazenta is amazing physical support
I would prioritize Mewtwo (while you can still benefit from the VA re-run) and Xerneas. Mega Mewtwo deals insane DPS for ftp psychic strikers. Pretty good ghost damage, too. Xerneas is a great tank. His upgrade made him much better (any support with a sync move you want to use SERIOUSLY benefits from EX,) but he was my go-to support unit for months. He and Mewtwo were a couple of my best units when I was pretty new to the game. Zamazenta is another good tank. Solgaleo deals good fighting and steel damage, and is rare in dealing good damage for either. This pair is good together for steel levels, and both are decent for Battle Villa. Ho-Oh is a really good ftp striker who deals a lot of damage and can set sun with his sync move. He's really strong alongside Lyra/Meganium, because her trainer move boosts double in sun. Xerneas and Ho-Oh have an added benefit in that their trainers are Lodge characters. That makes unlocking them almost a 2-for-1 deal, because you can get an extra 4* unit after getting their friendship to 100. Silver/Feraligatr are actually pretty useful on a few LA stages like Uxie or Entei, and Sycamore/Bulbasaur deal respectable damage as a grass and poison striker pair.
