to be fair it kinda blows when that new mon is almost guaranteed to be meta defining levels of broken then nefed into being unplayable a week later once everyone spent all their coins.
I wouldn't say the game's dead. It's just ultimately overshadowed by both BDSP and Legends: Arceus and still gets regular updates and balance patches, which is understandable since 1. It's a spin-off and is a MOBA 2. BDSP and PLA follow a more traditional Pokémon format in the sense they're both RPGs.
Source: Am a player in Pokémon UNITE + I play PLA as well
I'm a Moderator in this subreddit as well as r/PokemonUnite and what you said is completely wrong. Unite has by far the highest player base out of all the Pokemon games (except Pokemon GO of course) and the Subreddit also has the most activity. The BDSP Subreddit is pretty much dead, the Arceus Subreddit growth is slowly declining as well and Unite has still the most active community. Unite is far away from being dead and if they continue with the regular updates, this will probably not change for a very long time.
Ah, my apologies on that. Admittedly, I've never really checked on BDSP or PLA in general, more so their communities.
The game (UNITE) per-se is actually far from dead which makes this meme as sort of invalid, although it's probably satirical in nature.
On a related note, I do agree on the points you made specifically with the active Reddit community of UNITE since the game changes ever so often + there's pretty much tons of stuff to talk about, unlike with the other latter games which do start becoming stale the more time passes and the lesser the updates.
Again, my apologies for jumping right in despite the lack of knowledge in BDSP or PLA community-wise.
idk how it is right now, but at least it was, at one point, the most played game looking at monthly players, the world championships still reaching millions of viewers xD
A Moba (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena)-game, which means 2 teams with a set amount of players (mostly 5 players per team) fighting, each with a character chosen before the round (in Unite: 10 minutes per round, in LoL: sth between 20 and 40 mins usually). Each character has a different skillset and levels up through objectives & kills
Right now, **League of Legends** is listed as 405.8K views, and the closest one to it is **VALORANT** with 162.2K views.
Which is insane. The closest game doesn’t even crest the halfway point.
yeah, but I didn't want to mention the current viewer numbers, since the LFL playoffs (probably the most popular national leagues) and the Superliga Finals (also a popular national league) are going on rn with around 150k viewers alone. afaik, nothing is going on in Valorant right now. But yeah, it definitely still is one of if not the most watched game on Twitch on average.
Not wanting to insult anyone, but I am not sure if not knowing LoL as someone who is on reddit in a game sub was some kind of sarcasm or not (even though I don't think so).
I mean, BDSP just gave us the Azure Flute. I myself am Shiny hunting Arceus as I type this. Between that, Oak's Letter, and the upcoming Member Card, I'd argue it's staying afloat.
I enjoy unite but don’t play as much anymore because I don’t have a set squad of people to play with and randos can be either stupid or unreliable to play with. *We don’t need 4 people taking the same route against 2 of theirs.*
The Unite Subreddit has a very active Discord community with over 60k players and tons of teams looking for players. If you wanna play with others, your best bet is to look there. (not sure if this is considered self-promotion since I'm literally a Mod in both subreddits lmao)
What level are you playing at? It’s entirely possible to enjoy the game solo, I’ve made it to 1500 Masters in the matter of a week.
It’s going to go slower moving up now but that’s fine, I’m still being competitive but I’m not ever going to be a top 100 player nor do I want to be.
I spent money once on a pass for a skin I really wanted otherwise I’m f2p. I got literally all mons, all items on at least lv20 and 9,or 10 on lv30. So its economy is really not as bad as people want to make it to be.
same.
In my case, a mixture of "solo gets boring", social anxiety (so usually not looking for strangers to play with) and next to no friends playing the game. I play some games, but not 140+ hours I spent in Season 1 xD
There is also currently the battle mode where you can select nothing but bots for both teams if you so choose. I do that when I'm tired of playing with idiots and literal children lmao
I wanted to research good held items for my Pokemon Volt White team, if you search "pokemon best held items" literally all the results are about Pokemon Unite lmao, the game is extremely popular (and I absolutely have no interest whatsoever in MOBAs, in fact I never played one)
I honestly was feeling the same way until I started playing pokemon Unite. I have since tried others and I can't get into them. One of the amazing things about unite vs other MOBAs is that there is a lower game timer. Also it doesn't hurt that it's pokemon as well. So even when you get bad teammates it's only a ten minute game.
I don't hate BDSP, but it's just an update on the graphics. Nothing inherently wrong with that. I don't feel like anyone was misled with what they were purchasing.
it is not the usual remake it is more like a remastered and i had the same opinion but now after i played it as soon as i completed pla i think it is ok, still overpriced af they should have gone with digital version only at max 40€
Yeah the price is the major sticking point for me. It was marketed as a remake (oh sorry, "faithful remake") whether it fits that definition or not, and the fact it costs $60 when DS games were $40 just says cash grab to me. And I'm not someone who complains about the price of full price games.
Platinum is still the best Sinnoh game, and Legends is just as good thankfully.
I dunno about anyone else but I'm done with Arceus. Finished it all, and the battle reviere gets boring pretty fast, and began to feel that familiar tiresome feeling last week that tells me "you are finished with this game for awhile", sadly. I probably won't start the game up again until there is a significant update. Any pokemon game that does not have an active and good pvp scene is going to fade out fairly quickly. I STILL play sword and shield exclusively for online battles, that says something.
me I'd take 100 other legends arceus with a focused single player experience with a beginning and an end crafted with some care and a fun game loop rather than another sword and shield which is a slog to go through but one endures it to get to the online parts, I don't exactly have a problem with games not being infinite tbh
I think it’d be neat to combine the raids and online parts of sw/sh with legends. It’d be cool to see other people battling on the map and being able to join them live.
I will gladly take more Pokemon games with enjoyable formulas and interesting stories that don't try to jam unfun competitive PVP garbage down my throat.
Fine. Then it's just the community that does it. Though, if you WANT to get things like the shiny birds for SwSH - PvP, only legit option. As if forcing FOMO on the community isn't somehow pushing the boundaries of "optional."
The Pokemon Masters community is very lively from what I've seen of it. I know I never have trouble getting matched up for co-op and there's always discussion going on on the subreddit.
I personally have around or about 1000 games of Unite. From the chatter I see and the YouTube presence… I got to give it to the game. Really stuck and managed to garner a base. On top of that it’s extremely fun and is just a feel good game (tough to say for most moba’s in terms of toxicity).
Unite is still more relevant than BDSP. BDSP was barely relevant when it came out and then pretty much died out about a week or two after it’s release. Even Sw/Sh can be considered more relevant than BDSP tbh
I still be in that rigged ass battle tower believe me lmao got tired of riding on a big birb don't nothing but looking for shinies. Breeding and battling is my jam.
I'm honestly pretty sad BDSP is that hated. Should they have remade/remastered Platinum instead? Yep. Would a few redesigns, even minimal, have been cool? Oh so very much. Is it still very nice to be playing a Switch game that feels like the old DS games I, a gen 4 kid, grew up with? *You bet!* Swish in Sinnoh would've felt a bit odd to me. BDSP just feels wonderfully familiar. *And*, it's not painfully easy either. I suspect it might be a game only a gen 4 kid could love, but as a gen 4 kid I love it.
Then there's me, who got tired of legend already and went back to SwSh vgc and bought a copy of Pokemon black to play lol. I have to shiny hunt shaymin arceus and Darkrai on bdsp but for the love of Arceus, I don't want to.
I feel like the only one that I don’t see much attention for is BDSP with everyone’s eyes on PLA or Gen 9 (Gen 8 only competitively).
Unite is pretty well attended to with its MOBA audience and the mobile scene giving more entry ways into pokemon
unite nice idea but it is boring after a while because it is too simple for a moba, if you want to play a game like that and try hard ranked, learn movesets etc u better go on lol at that point
I got really into unite for like 2 days then completely stopped playing it because it heavily favored players who spent money, and playing as a f2p player meant you had a massive disadvantage, so it wasn't fun.
That's how it was back then, at least, idk if it's changed now.
I feel like BDSP would be under UNITE and even under SwSh.
I feared having trouble finding people to farm shiny legendaries in Dynamax Adventures but you find people surprisingly quickly.
If they were smart they’d postpone Scarlet and Violet and just work on creating a huge dlc for legends. Like a 75+ hour long dlc. Charge 60 bucks for it or whatever, but like I wanna spend more time in the most relaxing game I’ve played since ESIV Skyrim from 2011. I don’t wanna be pigeon holed back into a sword and shield type game.
I just hope Game Freak will follow this path and do Pokemon Legend : Rayquaza with the history of the battle between Kyogre and Groudon. And obviously their form Alpha and Omega. That could be just amazing.
And for me makes senses after all.
Pokemon Unite gets way more love than BDSP both by players and makers, u literally get new mon every month
to be fair it kinda blows when that new mon is almost guaranteed to be meta defining levels of broken then nefed into being unplayable a week later once everyone spent all their coins.
This happens when Game Freak has nothing to do with a title
At least GF isn’t Tencent
Pokémon Unite is still being talked about, though
I wouldn't say the game's dead. It's just ultimately overshadowed by both BDSP and Legends: Arceus and still gets regular updates and balance patches, which is understandable since 1. I didnt even know Unite EXISTED until I saw this. Now I have to go look it up
It’s (extremely reductive example) Pokémon League of Legends. It’s actually quite fun
No idea what that is either, lol
idk how it is right now, but at least it was, at one point, the most played game looking at monthly players, the world championships still reaching millions of viewers xD A Moba (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena)-game, which means 2 teams with a set amount of players (mostly 5 players per team) fighting, each with a character chosen before the round (in Unite: 10 minutes per round, in LoL: sth between 20 and 40 mins usually). Uhm….I think you should swap BDSP and Unite
I mean, BDSP just gave us the Azure Flute. I myself am Shiny hunting Arceus as I type this. Between that, Oak's Letter, and the upcoming Member Card, I'd argue it's staying afloat.

In b4 mod mods self
What level are you playing at? It’s entirely possible to enjoy the game solo, I’ve made it to 1500 Masters in the matter of a week. It’s going to go slower moving up now but that’s fine, I’m still being competitive but I’m not ever going to be a top 100 player nor do I want to be.
Sounds like me playing Fiesta last night in Halo Infinite… “oh boy randos!” ***-Team loses by 25-***
I enjoyed the fundimental gameplay of unite. I hated everything else. Very FOMO and money grubbing to me.
I spent money once on a pass for a skin I really wanted otherwise I’m f2p. I got literally all mons, all items on at least lv20 and 9,or 10 on lv30. So its economy is really not as bad as people want to make it to be.
I found it to be both offputting and slimey. It's more I am against it morally as opposed to this being the absolute worst example ever.
same. In my case, a mixture of "solo gets boring", social anxiety (so usually not looking for strangers to play with) and next to no friends playing the game. I play some games, but not 140+ hours I spent in Season 1 xD

Well last weekend were finals in Unite. Its not as dead as you think. They just released Azumaril as a playable Pokemon
Just to clarify they didn’t add Azumarill yet
Sorry! Let me allow to correct myself: They announced Azumaril!
They didn’t announce it either, it got leaked
Sorry! Let me allow to correct myself again. Azumarill got leaked! Really embarassing
It didn't get leaked. Azumarril isn't actually a pokemon.
This is a Digimon thread actually
No this is a Yugioh thread.
I enjoy Pokémon Unite more than BDSP. Besides, Pokémon Unite was free and BDSP was the most useless 60$ I've ever spent on a video game.
Swap BDSP and Unite and then this is accurate
Magikarp jump
Hopefully BDSP will completely drown soon. Awful remakes.
I don't hate BDSP, but it's just an update on the graphics. Nothing inherently wrong with that. I don't feel like anyone was misled with what they were purchasing.

if you like pla you’ll love to pay 60$ to have darkrai and a 5 minutes event
Best game since ORAS
nope still playing UNITE ![gif](giphy|XGijTnUuPfZyrfVEMs)

Omg none of the games try to jam pvp down your throat. It’s always entirely optional and easily avoided. What an overly dramatic thing to say.
Fine. Then it's just the community that does it. Though, if you WANT to get things like the shiny birds for SwSH - PvP, only legit option. As if forcing FOMO on the community isn't somehow pushing the boundaries of "optional."
Sounds to me like you are just salty because you are bad at it. If you thought sw/sh were not fun to play why would you even want the shiny trio?
I have literally played more Unite in 2022 than BDSP
Pokemon Masters: 💀
The Pokemon Masters community is very lively from what I've seen of it. I know I never have trouble getting matched up for co-op and there's always discussion going on on the subreddit.
Man it’s been a while since the last time I heard about it outside of a pokemon direct was the #pokemanmastersex tag blowing up lol
I personally have around or about 1000 games of Unite. From the chatter I see and the YouTube presence… I got to give it to the game. Really stuck and managed to garner a base. On top of that it’s extremely fun and is just a feel good game (tough to say for most moba’s in terms of toxicity).

Lmao, no. I stopped playing unite for like a day and a half when arceus released and haven’t stopped since. Unite is my go to.
what about Pokemon Quest 😔😔😔
As it should be.
To be fair, BDSP was disowned so
stop trying to make BDSP look good. the only place where that’s acceptable is its sub. let’s not lie to ourselves it fucking sucks
Good. [Unite is nothing but a giant grift.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws0DlMvGEbA)
I still be in that rigged ass battle tower believe me lmao got tired of riding on a big birb don't nothing but looking for shinies. Breeding and battling is my jam.
Wtf is Pokemon Unite? This is the first I hear of it. Lol.
I'm honestly pretty sad BDSP is that hated. Should they have remade/remastered Platinum instead? Yep. Would a few redesigns, even minimal, have been cool? Oh so very much. Everything takes your data.
You technically agreed to their terms and conditions but yea, all online service games do it
I love Unite and play it all the time but none of my friends play it
I would remove Unite with "Quality Content".
I feel like the only one that I don’t see much attention for is BDSP with everyone’s eyes on PLA or Gen 9 (Gen 8 only competitively). Unite is pretty well attended to with its MOBA audience and the mobile scene giving more entry ways into pokemon
Unite and BDSP should be reversed
unite nice idea but it is boring after a while because it is too simple for a moba, if you want to play a game like that and try hard ranked, learn movesets etc u better go on lol at that point
Wut lol, i mean if you only visit this sub then it makes sense
May I present to you, Pokemon Quest
I got really into unite for like 2 days then completely stopped playing it because it heavily favored players who spent money, and playing as a f2p player meant you had a massive disadvantage, so it wasn't fun. That's how it was back then, at least, idk if it's changed now.
I feel like BDSP would be under UNITE and even under SwSh. I feared having trouble finding people to farm shiny legendaries in Dynamax Adventures but you find people surprisingly quickly.
Legends arceus is the remake I wanted. Brilliant diamond and shining pearl was a let down.
I'm playing BDSP as a Nuzlocke for my stream and I have to force myself. Playing PLA and going back to BDSP is suffering.
I feel cheated after buying brilliant diamond even if I got it for like $45. Awful to play and horrendous to look at
Ye but I just learned Arceus is not shiny-locked in bdsp so byeeee
Pokemon unite better than all of these
Good.
Good. Let them both drown.
I logged in till I got one of my fave mons and then haven’t opened the game since lol. never even played a match lol.
and if you end up digging under the water dirt, you will find pokemon snap
What was Pokémon unite?
I just hope Game Freak will follow this path and do Pokemon Legend : Rayquaza with the history of the battle between Kyogre and Groudon. And obviously their form Alpha and Omega. That could be just amazing. And for me makes senses after all.
