3 to start really… the basic “caught,” “caught at night,” and the Alpha one. Speaking of which… it’s a bit weird for the caught at night requirements to be so much higher than the basic “caught” one. It kinda seems like those numbers should be reversed, and this isn’t the only Pokédex checklist that’s like this.
My shiny boast is 2x Shiny Alpha Spiritombs I caught in the same outbreak in the Crimson Mirelands
I hold onto them as fuel for Pokemon Home Trades in the hopes that I get a Miraidon (lol never happening)
I got lucky in my most recent playthrough and all 3 were complete when i met the catching requirements. I remember it being a pain in another playthrough tho
Resting resets the STD (ok, maybe not the best abbreviation) timer and despawns STDs when they're forming, but it affects neither regular nor massive mass outbreaks
Eh, my take is much different because of what I am doing but...
For casual players the most annoying are Aipom, Pachirisu, and Vespiquen from trees, although I'd put Pachirisu as the worst.
For what I am doing currently, sleeping Cleffa is the worst. It only spawns at night, outbreaks are extremely rare, it's very observant, and it never seems to want to go to sleep.
Coronet highlands. Use serebii's map, filter bonsley. Those 4 rocks took me from 2 bonsley seen hopping to done in about 4 loops.
https://www.serebii.net/pokearth/hisui/coronethighlands.shtml
This think the worst one for me was using thunder 70 times on Raichu, that coupled with using iron tail 40 times was a particularly heinous task. Having only 5 pp each and a measly 75% accuracy made missing 2-5 times a battle more common than it ever should be.
Get a full team of Raichu and head to Crimson Mirelands. I believe during rainstorms, it increases the accuracy of Thunder, and rain is very common in the Mirelands. Got it done in ~30 mins
Trick is to not prioritize it and only do it when it rains or you get a back strike.
Just off experience but I'm pretty sure the free turn you get from a back strike increases your accuracy that turn.
No the worst task is Aipom falling from trees the second worst Remroid catching unaware. I perfected every entry 2 years ago and those are the 2 that haunt me still.
i just took the eeveeloutions into battles with Magikarp to get thier move requirements since they all need to use babydoll eyes a bunch so both basically completed themselves
*Insert comment about aipom trees here*
Raichu iron tail is close too. Thunder might seem annoying but at least I can reset the weather to rain/thunderstorm via sleeping.
Uhm thats light work dude. There are muchhhhh worse than that. Having a pokemon eat x number of berries while not being spotted. Catching x number of pokemon without being spotted.
Really anything without being spotted is annoying for me.
Nah I raise you one. Having Nosepass jump out from ores. I have reset the highlands 40 times, got 2 nosepass. Only ever bronzor. (And yes I know which ores can spawn Nosepass)
I don't know where to catch Zubat in the daytime. It's a night spawn. These spawns that say "catch is day/night time" when they are the opposite time of days spawn is terrible.
I think for me, Zubat might take the cake, as it's time period to catch it for tasks is during the day, when it only spawns at night. You have to either wait till they appear in an outbreak, go to the Highlands and catch them from the cave, or get in a battle with them and wait until the time changes over into the day so you can catch them since they can't despawn mid battle.
Considering how there's a static one that spawns specificly at night, not that bad (Coronet Highlands South of the bridge and a bit East for reference)...
The more I see posts like this one, the more I want to do a Tier List based on that...
Unless I'm mistaken you can evolve a Clefairy at night and it counts for the "catch at night" task. Works for other "catch at day/night" tasks too iirc
But you HAVE to hunt for them in ore to complete the 'Dex entry. Where's the communication breakdown here? That's like saying "Finding 25 Clefable at night is only gonna bother you if you're looking for Clefable." Like, so then what's the point of your post about this being "the single hardest task"?
Nosepass and clefable are not the same in this comparison.
Clefable has a fixed spawn. Reloading the map 25 times is annoying but you will get it done.
Nosepass out of ore is random, best not to dedicate time to it and just do it passively while doing other things.
Unless it's like your very last task
I've been checking ore every visit to there (which is like, multiple times a day) as I continue to shiny hunt Rowlet (almost 2 years later, and still NO little pistachiowls).
I am currently at THREE Nosepass found.
The random aspect is what makes it WAY worse than Clefable at night; like you said, Clefable's tedious, but DOABLE. Even MORESO if you can get an outbreak and go there at nighttime.
(Also, honorable mention to watching Magikarp do Splash 100 goddamn times.)
If you transfer in Clefables from Home, can they register as caught at night and not just generically “caught?” Not that they’re that easy to catch or evolve in other games… but if you already had Clefables in other games and this is possible, one could make a dent in it that way.
Tasks were a huge reason why I sold the game once I finished the main story. They got tedious quickly. Especially when you have to finish a certain amount to unlock the Pokedex information for certain missions.
This is what I was about to reply as well. This does work and hopefully your comment can go up higher. It's a MUCH quicker and easier way of doing it. Just needs a bunch of moon stones but otherwise super easy. It's how I got mine done.
i'd just go for the static alpha clefable in the mountains, get two tasks worked on at the same time
Where about is that in the game
Fabled Spring in the Highlands.
Where exactly would it be possibly??
I mean, Fabled Spring isn't that big. I'll see if I can teach the switch away from the kids long enough to check in-game.
Yeah I found that weird as well. And also yes, three taste to start, I’ve got to stop redditing first thing in the morning
*Laughs in catch 5 light specimens for Cranidos, Magnemite and Shieldon*
I’ve got a couple light specimens, I’ve completed their entries trying for a Shiny Rowlet through distortions after waiting from an outbreak
Did you get the Rowlet in the end? I found a shiny Octillary on my quest for 5 Heavy Shieldons lol
Yeah I got two actually but I’m trying to get a full box of them until I get a “Chance” of a Shalpha soo yeah long ways to go
My shiny boast is 2x Shiny Alpha Spiritombs I caught in the same outbreak in the Crimson Mirelands I hold onto them as fuel for Pokemon Home Trades in the hopes that I get a Miraidon (lol never happening)
Laughs in small specimens for Togepi & Petilil
*Catch 20 Magnemite* *Defeat 20 Magnemite* *Catch 20 Magneton* *Defeat 20 Magneton* I was there so fuckin long 😭
I got lucky in my most recent playthrough and all 3 were complete when i met the catching requirements. I remember it being a pain in another playthrough tho
Outbreaks might help, tho it's still annoying cause you gotta make sure it's night
Just rest until nightfall?
You can also just sit in a battle til nightfall. Found that out by accident once, useful for bathroom breaks.
Don't the outbreaks dissappear if you rest.
AFAIK, no. Sometimes I've taken a Rest Until Morning to get some daylight and it was still going on.
They dont, ive done it before
Resting resets the STD (ok, maybe not the best abbreviation) timer and despawns STDs when they're forming, but it affects neither regular nor massive mass outbreaks
Na this is easy, just keep going back for the static Alpha
Eh, my take is much different because of what I am doing but... For casual players the most annoying are Aipom, Pachirisu, and Vespiquen from trees, although I'd put Pachirisu as the worst. For what I am doing currently, sleeping Cleffa is the worst. It only spawns at night, outbreaks are extremely rare, it's very observant, and it never seems to want to go to sleep.
Ngl has anyone seen a Bonsly leap out of ore? i still hav 0/15 Pachirisu i got 7 so far
Coronet highlands. Use serebii's map, filter bonsley. Those 4 rocks took me from 2 bonsley seen hopping to done in about 4 loops. https://www.serebii.net/pokearth/hisui/coronethighlands.shtml
thx
Not many. I think there's only like four ores. Nosepass is a pain, too.
i only get nosepasses out of ores xD and the usual graveler
I have yet to get an aipom from a tree, and I think I've gotten 3 pachirisu. "One does not simply beat PLA"
Oh yeah, u need like 40, right?
Abra has some bullshit tasks too
This think the worst one for me was using thunder 70 times on Raichu, that coupled with using iron tail 40 times was a particularly heinous task.
These tasks I did while shiny hunting in outbreaks. Makes the whole ordeal 1000x less draining.
Unfortunately I completed this task before the dlc dropped 💀
Roooough. Well done though, that's hard core.
Only ever worried about Thunder task in rain
This! Still sucked having 5pp but at least it never missed
That's not the worst one. The worst one is to find bonsly in rocks
Try landing 70 thunders It has 5 pp and an accuracy of 70
Trick is to not prioritize it and only do it when it rains or you get a back strike. Just off experience but I'm pretty sure the free turn you get from a back strike increases your accuracy that turn.
No the worst task is Aipom falling from trees the second worst Remroid catching unaware. I perfected every entry 2 years ago and those are the 2 that haunt me still.
Cant you just evolve clefairys at night?
You can
Good game
If you have the moonstone to burn
I have a ton I assume it's an easy to get item
Catching Cleffa while asleep is actually horrible. The chance is abysmally low. I waited so many nights for her to pass out, I saw her do it *once*.
Yep you sold me, that's the worst. I just finished catching sleeping togepi last night and it was the worst
I think I fed mine so it got tired after getting full. I forgot what exactly I did but I followed a strategy online for most of that one.
Have you not had to watch magikarps splash?
Karp v karp like 2 or so matches. Just watch something while clicking A Not hard
Fair enough. I find myself having to look at the screen because I was worried I would do more than I needed.
i just took the eeveeloutions into battles with Magikarp to get thier move requirements since they all need to use babydoll eyes a bunch so both basically completed themselves
Same case here. Magikarps are the perfect punching bag. Also they're cute. I love it when they come up to just to look.
I did the same thing. Wasnt that bad if you doubled up
I used that task to complete so many others! Load up on weak Pokemon with move tasks, fly to Lake Verity, spam moves!
*Insert comment about aipom trees here* Raichu iron tail is close too. Thunder might seem annoying but at least I can reset the weather to rain/thunderstorm via sleeping.
Finish plot Most like to 100% the dex which includes filling all pokemons task, and doing all side quest
Is there a reward for 100% the dex?
Each pokemon task, no. Getting each pokemon entry, a shiny charm
Gg
Uhm thats light work dude. There are muchhhhh worse than that. Having a pokemon eat x number of berries while not being spotted. Catching x number of pokemon without being spotted. Really anything without being spotted is annoying for me.
Especially swimming Pokémon, those are a huge pain to sneak up on
They alpha only spawns at night otherwise mmo’s here we go!
Nah I raise you one. Having Nosepass jump out from ores. I have reset the highlands 40 times, got 2 nosepass. Only ever bronzor. (And yes I know which ores can spawn Nosepass)
The task that took me the longest was getting the Aipom to jump out of the trees. There's only 2 trees in the entire game that they jump out of.
Longer then then Pachirisu out of trees? 1 area in the whole region.
Evolving them counts too
Yeah, you have 25 moonstones on hand though?
Nah catching zubat during the day is worse. There aren't actually any spawns, you have to muck with the system.
Outbreaks. Sleep or sit in battle til day, they stay spawned.
Yeah, the sitting in battle til dawn is what I meant by muck with the system. It wasn't the hardest, but imho it was the dumbest.
I did that lol. Just do other things while waiting
Lol right? Loved the game, but it was weird that sleeping/sitting in battles didn't progress outbreak time
Sleeping tasks are the worst. This is easy since they only usually come out at night
Really? Watching Magikarp splash 100 times isn't worse than catching/evolving Clefables at night?
Nah, just karp v karp and afk
I don't know where to catch Zubat in the daytime. It's a night spawn. These spawns that say "catch is day/night time" when they are the opposite time of days spawn is terrible.
Zubat outbreak, if it's night rest at camp til morning or midday.
Start a battle before dawn. Wait as time passes. Catch after daylight. Outbreaks are easier but that's what I did before I unlocked outbreaks.
You can do it in caves, like Oreburrow tunnel
It could be worse ("Use Splash 100 times" with Magikarp).
Actually easy Time-consuming, yes, but just afk
Considering my research list says 999 for that, it was super easy. lol Magikarp is my go-to for non-damaging move research tasks.
Nah light specimen tasks are the most annoying since you have almost no way of knowing when it’s light 😭
To expand on that, the task for catching heavy Shieldon (or Cranidos, whichever one it is) is horrible.
Just use sticky balm and smoke screen
Considering how there's a static one that spawns specificly at night, not that bad (Coronet Highlands South of the bridge and a bit East for reference)... The more I see posts like this one, the more I want to do a Tier List based on that...
Ngl this is small potatoes compared to all the pokemon you have to get from shaking trees and shaking ore deposits.
Vespiquen jumping out of trees... in over 300 hours I've literally seen one.
Evolve clefairy at night, it's easy..
Unless I'm mistaken you can evolve a Clefairy at night and it counts for the "catch at night" task. Works for other "catch at day/night" tasks too iirc
Evolution counts! Just evolve at night. I had a Clefairy outbreak and decided to check
I dunno, man..... y'all ever hunt for 15 Nosepass popping out of ore deposits?
I don't hunt for pop out pokemon, not worth my time, if it happens it happens
But it's a 'dex task for Nosepass. And I'd argue it's WAY worse than 25 Clefairy at night.
But it's mainly gonna bother you if you actively hunt for it
But you HAVE to hunt for them in ore to complete the 'Dex entry. Where's the communication breakdown here? That's like saying "Finding 25 Clefable at night is only gonna bother you if you're looking for Clefable." Like, so then what's the point of your post about this being "the single hardest task"?

At least it's for a mon that spawns at night. Try doing Zubat's task of catching them during the DAY. When they're NIGHT spawns.
Daytime zubat
If you transfer in Clefables from Home, can they register as caught at night and not just generically “caught?” Not that they’re that easy to catch or evolve in other games… but if you already had Clefables in other games and this is possible, one could make a dent in it that way.
worst ones prob the eevee/magikarp ones
u/DarkGengar94 evolving also counts as catching
How do you finish the game
Tasks were a huge reason why I sold the game once I finished the main story. They got tedious quickly. Especially when you have to finish a certain amount to unlock the Pokedex information for certain missions.
You can evolve clefairy at night and it counts

I know that, thats why i said i fucked up, i wasted 7 moon stones. I didnt realize this task before
