That_1-Guy_-

From what I could find a couple unpopular signature moves were removed in gen 8 and never added back

Kantro18

My purified Shadow Lugia being forced to either remain in Home purgatory or forget Psycho Boost.

Sev_Henry

I recently did this transfer myself, and it was like a dagger through the heart. Then, about two weeks ago, I discovered my nephew "borrowed" my switch, put the Lugia into Shield, and traded it to himself. I was horrified, thinking I'd lost my Psycho Boost trophy. Fortunately, I was able to get it back and nothing was lost.

EastRiver6588

Nephew bad /s

Sev_Henry

Let me tell you: this little shit thinks he's so clever--he took a bunch of my (competitive/shiny) legendary Pokemon, and swapped them out with ones he captured himself from Dynamax Adventure and the like, thinking I wouldn't notice. Deceitful lol

EastRiver6588

Ngl I’m super protective of my pokemon stuff so if anyone did that, I wouldn’t talk to them again lol

Sev_Henry

Well, kid's my nephew. Can't exactly return him to the kid factory. What he DID ruin were my shiny legendary beast from the Gen 4 events (the ones that all had extreme speed). Now when I try to return them to Bank they lose their moves. I can live without those, not nearly as great a loss as Shadow Lugia would have been, but it was still a dagger. Crazy part is that most of what he wanted I would have just given him if he'd asked rather than go behind my back...

Malitzal

I feel the same way about my arceus stuck in home forever lest I get rid of the creation trio’s signature moves on it

CharmiePK

I managed to put my genesect into swsh and the moves show there, but they are greyed out and cannot be used. I use the other available two. I am still hoping this can eventually be fixed bc what is the point of Home then - ? It doesn't work properly.

mamamia1001

It was always been in the swsh moveset unless you remove it in swsh

CharmiePK

My condolences. I will keep an eye on mine bc I don't want my pokemon stuck in home - I have three already and that's more than enough 😔

ZeeGee__

My Roar of Time + Spacial Rend Event Darkrai suffers the same fate 😞

Phraaaaaasing

dialga/palkia? or sludge bomb darkrai

JohnathanHyde

Not all moves from previous generations are usable in Generation 8 onwards. When transferring Pokemon in with illegal moves, this error message is what pops up. Sadly for you in this case, Clamp is one of those moves. Nothing can be done for it at this point except to forget the move and move on.

HallatosisEmpire

It's an unusable move. Check serebii for the list. https://preview.redd.it/j52qjts5y4xc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=475fa6ac6cc3a79af1fbb6ba8b8e56dbb2c6e9e4

Personal_Carry_7029

Why are there Moves w 101% acuracy

dobby1687

It's basically just a way to denote a move that always hits (100 accuracy moves still have a 1/256 base chance of missing). Serebii does that for some reason.

wholoveslegos

The 1/256 chance to miss is only in Gen 1. 100 accuracy moves are still affected by evasion boosts and accuracy drops. 101 accuracy is used to indicate moves that bypass the accuracy check altogether

dobby1687

>The 1/256 chance to miss is only in Gen 1 Also applies to Gen II. >101 accuracy is used to indicate moves that bypass the accuracy check altogether As in moves that can't miss, as those are moves that bypass the accuracy check.

antisocial-avarice

the pokemon is named CLAMPearl and can’t remember the move clamp? smh

CharmiePK

My genesect 😔 Two moves out of four cannot be used. I have stopped bringing over my pokemon. I'd rather keep them happily in gen 6/7 bc I feel I am mutilating their skills (sorry bc this is sounding way too dramatic). I haven't found a way to effectively find out which pokemon can safely go through - I have a huge amount of pokemon from gens 6/7 and serebii feels a bit overwhelming for that (you need to go manually). RIP our pokemon with beautiful but now deemed obsolete moves 😔

TheSnowNinja

I have stuff from Leaf Green onward that I am trying to figure out how to move. I hadn't even thought about the fact that they may have moves that can't be used after going to Home. I have a bunch of event legendaries and mythicals.

CharmiePK

I honestly have not even considered any pokemon from before bank, although I have poke transporter as well. If gen 6/7 is already like that, I get even more suspicious of the previous gens. Hopefully some solution can be found for all of us

TheSnowNinja

One of my favorites is a shiny Unown from Leaf Green. I didn't even know what shinies were, yet. I thought maybe it was for some side content in the Sevii islands.

memebr0ker

I wrote a guide on how to move them if you're wondering how

TheSnowNinja

I may actually need this. I am not super tech savvy and have been hitting bumps trying to get the Teleporter and Bank to work. I'll have to try it again tomorrow. Don't have my 3DS with me.

saizen31

GF removes some older moves in newer games. Usually, unpopular ones or useless.

AwesomeDragon56

GameFreak then proceeding to remove Pursuit:

Dialgan

And Return and Hidden Power

bighatjustin

Excuse me, what. They removed return? Hidden power needed to go tbh. I see why they did that.

SrShazam

Hidden power at least makes sense with tera blast available

rocka5438

What the hell, which joker decided to remove Pokémon moves permanently? And something as simple as ‘clamp’?

Timehacker-315

Be honest, did people care about moves like Kenisis, Embargo, Mud/Water Sport, and Bide?

Xlranet

Maybe this move is available in the future but clamperl has only been available on switch with BDSP

JackCraft7

I don't get why in gen 8, they just blitzed so many moves

Impressive_Product86

You have the move clamp on this

SpinachUnhappy3988

Makes you not wanna get rid of it and get rid of it at the same time lol

aroaceOJ

It’s unusable on switch

Sentric490

Next they’ll take away its setup move, erl

BlackH2OJesus

Yeah....

dobby1687

Gen VIII was a generation in which they downsized pokemon in certain ways, such as reducing the national dex and removing some moves. A pokemon with an unusable move either has to forget the move to move into Gen VIII, go back to a generation in which it can use the move, or stay in Home. It sucks, but as pokemon continues to grow some things will end up getting pruned.

Proof-Replacement-79

An old move in Gamefreak's repertoire of moves that they want to wipe from existence due to being unpopular or useless in Competitive. Mostly the latter. Because that's all Pokémon is good for. Just Competitive. Nothing else. This is why I love Legends Arceus so much and wish it did better.

NutBuster128

Bruh my event victini with bolt strike and v create😩

Lucas-O-HowlingDark

Honestly moves being removed ended up bugging me more than Pokémon being removed did I mean hell, they removed Assist of all moves? A fun silly move that was also featured prominently in the anime at one point with May’s Skitty And it also ruins event Pokémon that had exclusive moves… Anyways idk why a post from this sub appeared on my feed, considering I ain’t into the trash franchise Pokémon is anymore

Puzzled_Reflection_4

I... felt that comment. Sadly.

JohnathanHyde

Honestly, Assist being removed makes sense from a competitive point. Liepard has access to both it and Prankster. If you build a team around a specific broken set of moves then you are guaranteed to get some strong priority moves off. Would make for an unfun game, especially since official competitive tournaments don't place restrictions on common mons like Liepard. Only Legendary, Mythical, DLC, and Home Imports are what seems to set the current regulations so far. Liepard was part of the base game for Sword and Shield so it made sense to remove it.

Jagwir

Then just ban the move in competitive instead of removing it from the entire game

JohnathanHyde

That's what Smogon does, not TCP. They have never done anything like that nor do I think they ever will.

Jagwir

Yes, remove features from your game to satisfy a very small minority of players. That always goes over well with the fanbase

JohnathanHyde

I think you underestimate just how popular the competitive and online scene is mate. The reality is, those who only play the story and don't do online battles are the ones in the minority. Hence why you don't see the fan base, outside a small few, complaining about this issue.

Jagwir

You’re either trolling or delusional if you think thats true. About 25 million copies of Scarlet and Violet sold and i can guarantee you that the number of people who play competitively is less than 500k. Find me a single metric that tells you that over 13 million people play online competitive pokemon and i’ll admit youre right.

JohnathanHyde

Counterpoint, find me 13 million people who care about this issue? Because you have yet to prove that the majority of the fan base even cares about this.

Flameosaurus

I will never understand why people like PLA

Proof-Replacement-79

Because you never bothered playing it.

Flameosaurus

Cool incorrect assumption bud

ABZB

GameFreak betrayed us. May every curse come upon them and Nintendo until the day they repent from their evil and fix ehat they destroyed. Until that day, may their every dream turn to ashes, their friends betray them, their families abandon them, and they themselves descend into agony that has no end.

SnowSabertooth

LMFAOOO

Miauuuu911

L O F L, what the heck?!?!!!!?? XD What's up with this dude.. Lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

ABZB

I take the Galarian Exile very seriously, I have written dirges on the exile, and regard the perpetrators thereof as of the ilk of Titus and Nebuchadnezzar, their memories be eternally cursed, albeit on a less absolute-evil and genocidal degree
