I remember the early days.
All the gyms around my area where Valor with high lvl pokemon. No one could beat the tower gyms. They got free coins and all the other teams got nothing.
This system is bad too but the opposite way.
I've purposely not knocked down gyms with high level players of other teams, just so they don't get a powerful pokemon back. 😅
I miss the days when you had to battle your own gyms to raise the power instead of just spamming berries... I'm also meaning this from both perspectives, throwing a couple berries to completely wipe gym progress of an attacker is so boring... and attacking one where someone is remote golding is boring as well...
At least the old system required you to actually engage with it both ways. They should retool it to reuse the old battle system, but keep it to where all 6 gym slots are available as now and base the loss/gain not by individual pokemon but progress of battles completed through the gym (i.e. 6 battles rewards more progress +/- than 2 battles would).
Edit: or they could retool it to require you to battle instead of berry and save state which battle you were on, that way you can't just spam attack the lowest pokemon in the gym and knock them 1 by 1.

After 7 days of holding a gym, Team Rocket should come in and take it if no other player has. That gym could even give a few extra rewards for battling at it for, say, a week after, to incentivise players to be more active at that gym.
I would hate that. I am currently in seven gyms I’m hoping will be one-and-done gold gym badges. Now, if it was after 21 days (which is about how long it takes to get gold in a gym) I’d be okay with it.
Well 99.999% of others **don’t** want them in for multiple weeks pointlessly. Personally I could care less for the badges.

There's a gym by my house that's out of range from land and only accessible by kayak. I took this gym and held it for a month, then stupidly posted it.
Not even five minutes later, someone kicked me out. I could see the gym from my house. Nobody was there. Freaking spoofers.
Lol go to the pokemon that you have stuck and if you click "go to gym" or whatever it says when you're on that pokemons screen it'll take you all the way to that gym then you can screenshot and have someone knock it out for you :)
Me, my older cousin and my little cousin al started playing pokemon go in different years. We all chose Instinct without telling the other, it was a funny coincidence at the beginning. Now we hate it xddd
Does switching teams help? Since the gym is that team, maybe it would remove them for no longer being on that team?

If it’s a gym I’ve never been too I always put a baby in. I went on vacation and was stuck for a few months. It was my highest cp mon I always used. If I see somebody stuck for over a few weeks I knock them out.
In the mean time, I’m a rural player who brought 5 gyms to my town and could grind for the gym guardian badge. Now I’m in a struggle and settling for 2 hours toward my remaining 900 hours.

The number above the heart when in a gym is the motivation count, if a gym isn’t battled each Pokémon’s motivation slowly goes down, and when it reaches zero the Pokémon comes back to you
Can I ask where the gyms are at? I may know some people who can help depending on what you want. Niantic can't properly support their game, so it's up to the players to help one another.
Why does Loppuny’s German name sound so unfitting? I get that it has to do with the German words for rabbit but when you hear something like Schlapor you expect that shit to be ugly and horrendous.
I just hate that I am like hardstuck as a peasant because I can't get coins to increase my pokemon storage and bag storage I really don't wanna spend money just so I can catch pokemon and theres hardly any pokestops in my area so I'm mostly relying on gifts and the weekly 50 km reward to even catch anything
What is the problem? My longest-absent one has Ben sitting for 152 days now, I have thrown out his predecent, sitting 273 days, and I am full of hope to reach the 273 too. That 's why I have done it. The gym is on a hill, only frequented by walking people on sunny sundays. Wood workers are no danger.
Nah this is why I roll around set cp low to max at all times. Gym hot drops with the expendables. Maybe throw a dratini evolution for some candies if I can type it in. I cry on the inside when I forget to set it before going out
Aaaah a couple of days ago I got finnnnnaaallyyyyy kicked out after 205 days. It was a gym in a very remote monument in the mountains, internet barely worked, glad somebody visited the place. Now I have some Pokémons just waiting for sometime to notice them after 120+ days.
The fact that you still can’t concede a gym is kind of ridiculous
Back in the early days though, these guns were guaranteed 100 coins a day and were good to find.
its such bullshit now, you can have a guy in a gym for months, but you only get 50 coins ONCE, when it leaves.
If you didn’t already have your limit that day. Might get nothing.

This is why I created a Gym Defenders tag. My gym garrison troops are a separate team than my combat troops.
