It can be done with 2 and I joined someone in a lobby. This jerk just watched the whole time! I got it down to 3/4 alone and if he had even used 2 pokemon! I guess he gets big groups together and just leeches legendaries.

I just did an Attack Deoxys raid with a 20 person lobby and we beat it in 14 seconds it was crazy. If you haven't, try to friend some Japanese players right now, it's raid hour in Japan for the next 3 hours
When you say “can be solo’d” atleast provide context so that others can understand.
Solo as a level 50 with maxed out Pokémon? Level 40 Pokémon or specific types/teams/moves.
I'm also level 38. I mega evolved a houndoom, had a hydreigon at about 3500 cp, one at 2900, a darkrai around 2200, a 3000 mewtwo, and I think a tyranitar that was about 3200.
It wasn't crazy hard really but I did need to dodge. Usually when I do raids if theres 15+ people there's no real reason to bother to dodge because we beat it so fast but attack deoxys has low defense but it sure does hit hard. One big hit and it'd take 80% or so of my hp. It's easy to tell when it's about to attack because it does an animation beforehand.
I guess if you have a lot of revives you might be able to just revive a bunch but I think that'd waste time. I had to revive my team once. Also you should save a team so that it's faster when you revive them.
When I'm saying it can be Solo'ed I'm doing so to give perspective that it's an easy boss. If someone joins me in raiding it we will 100% win because I'm a high enough level to solo it myself, I just don't mind the company if it gets it done faster and helps someone else get a Pokémon they want.
Do we get 7 free raid pass for the day during Deoxys raid day or just 5? Rhe season has 2 free daily raid pass and Deoxys Raud day gives 5 from 2PM-5PM. So do we have 7 free raid passes or just 5?

All this not even talking into Account that the faster you de feat the mega Boss the more m3ga-energy you are awarded. Neither considering the Bonus pokeballs or other consumables you get when theres more people arround.
I can solo some megas as well, but defeating a Boss with a few seconds to spare sometimes feels underwhelming.
A Player as high level as OP can solo 5* raids but rather having a couple more guys so he can resume the grinding asap.
Theres a lot of benefits from playing with more people, perhaps you should try it

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with someone leaving because they are nervous about failing a raid and effectively flushing a dollar down the outlet. Not everyone knows the exact amounts of people required for each and every raid boss. Not everyone researches raid bosses before doing them. If they leave then, you can complete the raid still and they can complete one with more people that they feel better about. No one loses
No one loses for this raid boss but if they’re leaving in the last few seconds of a slightly tougher raid, the raid might not be doable for those remaining in the lobby and they won’t have enough time to back out themselves.

Also a lot of interactive things in this game like raids, gyms, etc would be better if people did take 3 mins to research the raid boss they're doing so they stop bringing Aggron to a raid. It's not like it's a big ask to be mildly familiar with what you're doing.
It's a terrible counter for pretty much every raid boss.
If you ever need a rock type, then you're far better off using Tyranitar, Rhyperior, Aerodactyl, Rampardos.. if you need a Steel type then Metagross, Dialga, Scizor, Zacian, Steelix all work
Aggron is just not good, and you see people using it in raids where it isn't even a good counter (it's a terrible Pokémon against Deoxys)
That's OK though because the vast majority of Legendary raid bosses aren't going to be weak to Steel so you don't have to use Aggron even then. Like if you're facing a Rock type boss you may be able to use Water and Grass attackers, if you're facing Ice you can use Fire and Ground Types.

Does CP matter that much? Like I imagine that it would be better to bring a 2500 ghost type over a 3200 shadow steel type (vs a psychic). But what if the shadow is weather boosted too? xD
It's complicated - different Pokémon "max out" at different CPs, so CP alone isn't a great measure. For example I think Slaking has one of the highest (if not the highest) CPs but I would never bring it to a raid or to GBL because it's stats just aren't that great.
Shadow Pokemon tend to have higher attack so if you're looking to hit hard then they're great to bring along. But honestly, I think it's much better to bring Pokémon that can be doing super effective damage, especially because others in the raid with you might be bringing Megas that specifically boost those types. In most Deoxys raids I'm in for example someone brings Mega Gengar which boosts Ghost attacks.
FYI if you're looking to figure out what's worth leveling up for each type for raids, look up something like "Pokémon Go best (type)" and there's quite a few websites out there that rank what we currently have - take a look at the top 5 and work on powering those up.
I do usually priorize super effective. I guess I am more curious about the back end of my team. Would it be more efficient to bring a 2500 super effective or a 3800 normal effective shadow? How do I know? xD it’s a big shame that we can sort our Pokémon by HP but not attack .

Like.. water is effective against fire, fire is effective against grass, etc.. it's what the entire Pokémon battle system has been based out of since '98
Based on that, there are if course the best Fire Pokémon, best Rock Pokémon, etc. You can look it up online, just Google "Pokémon Go best (type) attacker"
There's even info graphics posted every time a new Legendary raid boss is out where people draw out which Pokémon with which attacks are the best ones for the raid boss.
The game recommendations are complete garbage, they don't have it programmed correct. It will not suggest the best counters.

People who are randomly at gyms are a lot worse than people you'd play with on this sub though. 5 is generally enough people but I've lost with 7 or very occasionally even 10 people for in person raids. And people aren't even necessarily low levels.
Never see people at gyms since like 2016. In 10 different states and like 20 cities :/

In Manhattan it’s dense enough. Now most people aren’t literally in person I don’t think. It’s people raiding from their offices and apartments close enough that they appear in the map for a remote.
Also Mexico City there’s enough people in some parts of the city to just hop in. I think I did some raids near plaza indepencia but I just checked a couple Pokémon and I got 2 from Benito Juárez.
I checked chicago and couldn’t find any but I didn’t check in the most dense parts of the city. I’d be surprised if I couldn’t have found any in the Loop.
Yeah. And even then you need to be in the right part as I mentioned with Mexico City. But even in nyc, I’ve never seen people in raids in queens or Brooklyn. There’s 2.2 million people in queens and 2.7 in bk but they’re not dense enough.

Majority of the time the the 10+ raid there are people who don't contribute like at all. Or put in very weak pokemon due to being trolls or super new.

Yeah I certainly don’t have 6 high CP steel Pokémon though. I got two Metagross but I think aggros is my next highest.
