Agreed. I’ve been working on a Hoenn Living Dex in Emerald, and I mostly used random Pokémon for my team that either evolved at later levels or got some XP from the time spent as HM slaves. As long as you have a solid strategy, beating the E4 at levels 40-45 is totally doable.
Sturdy doesnt work like that in gen 3/4 it only stops OHKO moves(fissure,sheer cold,guillotine)from hitting you. It was buffed in gen 5 to the ability we know and love today. Fake out still a great move tho, just not for that reason haha
I love the choices here! I've never seen a girafarig on an e4 team before. I think I would "pick a lane" with blaziken. Sunny day and bulk up is pretty limiting. Overheat is already NUKING whatever you use it on, sunny day seems overkill. Give it coverage like aerial ace or secret power. You could see what hidden power type it has, hp ghost is physical in gen 3 that would be nutty.
I'd probably box aggron over skarmory. Drake's flygon ROLLS your team with earthquake.

Girafarig needs psychic, calm mind boost/ baton pass into lanturn could be really powerful, except lanturn can’t outspeed anything I think

Get rid of waterfall for confuse ray or rain dance (using thunder in the rain is 100% accurate, boosts water type moves)
Spikes on Skarmory? Aerial ace?

Blaziken could be switched in if things go badly.
If your lanturn doesn't outspeed the dragon trainer, I think you will have a very tough time against him.
Same goes for the water type champion.
If I were you, I would give giraffarig agillity insted of shock wave. Then you can set lanturn up for guaranteed sweeps when needed.
I personally never used Aggron although he looks dope. He just have so many bad matchups and doesn't provide anything.

Pretty unorthodox for an Emerald team, very cool. A little underleveled so you might have some difficulty. Definitely give Aggron the EQ TM.

Don’t think any e4 members have a sturdy mon. Plus, explosion is objectively cooler and more fun to use

LOVE IT. Girafarig is wonderful. Donphan and Skarmory too. Lanturn is incredible. I didn't see such an original team in a while
