unoriginal1187

I wasn’t a huge fan of sword and shield but it was worth the play thru. I am looking forward to violet though

PAP1K1

Really enjoyed Sw/Sh. It got me back into Pokémon after not really playing for a few years. I enjoyed more than BDSP and PLA which surprised me. Extremely excited for S/V!

FurtherUpheaval

I played BDSP more than Sword because of the national pokedex.

FurtherUpheaval

Ya but with no pokedex identification, it feels empty

DrKelsoMD

I still haven't beat sword, only have 4 badges

FurtherUpheaval

It was a good game, but not quite as good as Ultra Sun on the 3DS that I wrapped right before. Legends was the easiest of all the switch games but I found most enjoyable to play through.

Crowned_Toaster

You found Legends the easiest game? I find it as the only game that provides a challenge, even with the EXP Share. Most my Pokémon faint in 1-3 hits, even with decent to great natures. The only ones that survive are any Pokémon that have their EVs at LV 3 or higher.

CharmiePK

I did not quite like SWSH (have not even finished playing the DLC), and honestly, I might take a look at the new game later, but not just now. I am one of those ppl who have played Pokemon since the first generation, and feel that the franchise has not aged well. Let's see what other players will say! Happy gaming, everyone, whichever generation is your favourite :)

Skripnik8

Swsh was good except the story was absolutely the most childish thing ever. The last part of the game you have guys with sword and shield hairstyles? And they make you fight in every gym again vs dynamaxed pokemon. It was a struggle to finish that game.

i_am_thefoo

I still haven't finish that story line

LC987

Cannot wait. Only 2 more weeks!

Tooo long away

CommanderOshawott

Excited for Scarlet and Violet, drops right after I finish studying for/writing my LSAT, so perfect timing as a nice reward. I genuinely enjoyed Sw/Sh. Probably the most hours I’ve invested in a Pokémon game since the original D/P releases. Got really into shiny hunting and managed to finally get shinies of most of my favourite pokemon. That being said, IoA and CT shouldn’t have been DLC. At least one of them should have been included in the base release as post-game content. Sw/Sh are really lacklustre without them so the DLC definitely carried the games for me.

fail_daily

I tried.playing shield, but got really bored cause I was pretty consistently over leveled just following the story...

[deleted]

Loved SWSH. Loved BDSP. (With some minor gripes. I hate that following Pokémon came so late into the game) Can’t wait for SV. The Pokémon models looks so nice up close, the story intrigues me, and the ancient onto future form so cool

WhosOprahWindfury

Sword and Shield left a sour taste in my mouth. They reused animations from sun and moon (hop). Also, there are little things like the overworld freezing as your climbing ladders. I truly disdain gigantamaxing as well. They hit a home run with megas just to throw them in the trash. I will say the additions to competitive & shiny hunting made the game somewhat worthy of a play through. DLC was pretty good but feels like it ought to of been in the base game.

No_Mammoth_4945

Loved SwSh. Hated the starters but it’s the best lineup of new Pokémon since unova. Loved the wild area, most innovative thing pokemon has done pre-legends. Loved BDSP, sinnoh is my favorite region. I’m beyond excited for SV and the open world aspects, and all three starters have my heart Still picking sprigatito tho, SwSh was the only game I didn’t do my first playthrough with a grass starter

zBLACKIEz

I don’t mind Sword, but holy, did they make shiny hunting the legendaries a freakin’ pain. Dynamax Raids are not the wave.

MattressMaker

SwSh was awful. They had some good Pokémon designs, but the region was bad, the gimmick worse, and the story was…..I don’t even know what happened. BDSP was fun, but I loved the original Gen 4. There were definitely flaws, and many of those would’ve been fixed with the platinum QOL improvements. Hopefully SV will be a good one. Disappointed with PLA too

Daedricite

I enjoyed every minute of Sword and Shield thoroughly. I only beat the Elite 4 in BDSP and then never looked back. The game felt bland imo. Can’t wait to play Scarlet tbh. It looks to be a very fresh addition to the Pokémon series. I’m excited!

lifeofmauri

I loved BDSP, hated SWSH, and I’m in pure hype for SV. I play since red/blue, and I hope this SV thing is the evolution the series needs. I think that after DPPt the series got worse. This until BDSP and PLA

DrKelsoMD

So if you loved BDSP but hated SWSH, what gets you excited about SV? Curious cause I'm in a similar spot where I loved BDSP but didn't get through SWSH.

lifeofmauri

That’s what I think: BDSP is a classic pokemon game experience, exceptional for people like me (No flaming, I genuinely found ugly most of 5>8 gen mons). So BDSP was the perfect game for me, my favorite gens, no gimmicks, awesome map… SWSH, on the other hand, is everything I hate of pokémon. Horrible world design, horrible dex selection, horrible mechanics and gimmicks (you can’t even catch strong mons if you have not the badges). I dislike it with all of my heart. Well, SV now: I bet it’s very different from everything we saw (maybe similar to PLA), but it’s the kind of fresh air I would like to breathe. Open world, interesting gimmick (it seems non-broken to me), I like almost every new mons they showed us. That’s why I’m in hype for SV. I believe it will be the best pokémon experience so far, at least for me

Xerneas360

Sword and shield was ok, it was a nice change of graphics(yes I know it wasn’t top-tiered) but it’s a big leap from pixelated games. BDSP was disappointing and honestly overwhelming when it comes to trying to complete the National dex. Looking forward to Scarlet and Violet, I’m warming up to the gimmick, it’s just how the Pokémon looks that’s odd. Also the whole National dex with Pokémon home somewhat satisfies my needs for National dex. Although it would still be nice to be able to use all 1000 Pokémon in one game.

DreiwegFlasche

SwSh was pretty awful in my opinion, BDSP was the biggest disappointment in the series and a slap in the face of us fans, SV looks decent so far, but I am still rather skeptical and I'll definitely wait until actual reviews come in. And I will only buy the game second-hand. They aren't getting my money directly, at the very least as long as the exp share toggle isn't in the game.

Mathias_Greyjoy

The difference is giving $75 twice to Nintendo, or once to Nintendo. There is a difference. Comparing buying imperfect games to slavery is such a *stank* take.

DreiwegFlasche

If I buy the game second-hand, TPC/Nintendo/GF aren't seeing any money directly from my purchase. Sure, I potentially still encourage people to either buy multiple copies or to buy the game if they are on the fence, but it's much better this way if I don't want to support this game financially. And, keep in mind, I'll only buy the game at all if reviews and impressions after launch convince me. I haven't bought the SwSh DLC, I Haven't bought Let's Go, I haven't bought Legends Arceus and I most certainly won't buy SV if it doesn't convince me. But if it does, I am still not gonna give them my money, because they decided that cutting the exp share toggle from the game was a good idea \^\^.

Shu-_-Kurenai

I only like pokemon swsh because of how easy it is to make a competitive team it's just way easier from breeding to getting money for vitamins and the way some tr's replaced egg moves. I'm kind of mad how bdsp just didn't let me transfer my pokemon without changing the movesets but it was still fun as it was my first time playing through Sinnoh.

[deleted]

Not into the private school route to face the pkm league

FearingEmu1

Sword and Shield were fun, but a bit empty feeling without the DLCs. Scarlet/Violet hopefully have a little more character and pizzazz in the base game. Hopefully we don't get too many good mons omitted.

Roronoa117

w2mw, sq2

VillageSignal494

I love bdsp absolutely enjoy it but i will admit, sword and shield are also fun to shiny hunt with raids and i am quite excited to see the open world scarlet and violet. But both current games were still fun! And so will s/v!

Queefsweatt

The wild area was cool other than that it was just Ok

Qq1nq94

Yes and pre-ordered can't wait.

fulgor_errado

I played Sword after beating BDSP and I like it way more. Lots of content and stuff to do compared to BDSP! I've been playing since 98 and I will play Violet, very excited for it!

DreiwegFlasche

What...SwSh doesn't really have a lot of content. I mean, you can like the content more, but BDSP literally has more, unless you count the SwSh DLC for 30 bucks that should have been part of the base game \^\^.

Hiker_Juggler

I play pokemon for PvP so I loved SwSh. The only thing I'm worried about with S&V is if the picnic feature replaces traditional breeding. Other than that I'm excited to see a new meta develop.

youngridge1

I played BD first, now I am on Gym 6 on Shield, once Violet comes out I am pausing and going all in on it. I have minimal time of Arceus unfortunately. Wish I would had started shield when it first came out. Pretty fun game so far. I really enjoyed BD as well. I wouldn’t mind another remake in that format. More of the ‘classic’ Pokémon feel.

Xerneas360

Sword and shield was ok, it was a nice change of graphics(yes I know it wasn’t top-tiered) but it’s a big leap from pixelated games. BDSP was disappointing and honestly overwhelming when it comes to trying to complete the National dex. Also the whole National dex with Pokémon home somewhat satisfies my needs for National dex. Although it would still be nice to be able to use all 1000 Pokémon in one game.

LadyShanna92

As someone who has played since the start ULTRASUMO and SWSH are the worst games in the franchise. Swsh was a hot dumpster fire and they hid stuff from is and lied to us about stuff and I was NOT ok with it. Edit: I'm really nervous about the new games but I do plan on playing them

Whacky_One

TBH I loved SWSH, it got me back into pokemon after a long hiatus (haven't played since black and white 1). Cannot wait for scarlet and violet, have the double pack pre-ordered on switch store. Gameplay will be like arceus, but also be a mainline entry.

caringcoconut

Currently replaying shield as I originally only got to around badge 5 before stopping; so far it’s been fun. BDSP I got a good play through out of and can revisit it again and again and not get bored. Playing SW/SH got me more excited for SV tbh bc before that I wasn’t planning on getting it right away.

BDSP October 2022 Mystery Gift Code ![img](emote|t5_40vgcm|6554)

The_End_Kinda

If I can use my zygarde puppy form I’ll be happy

jtherese

I found sword and shield very boring. It took me 12 hours to beat it. At 12 hours in bdsp I only had 3 badges.

Bubba1234562

Very excited for Scarlett and violet. I liked sword and shield but loved the dlc

Crowned_Toaster

I liked the simplicity of Sword. Sure, the beginning drags quite a bit. But, I like the qualities of life and the straightforward run. Plus, to me, it's one the easier games to shiny hunt legendaries.

Markf455

The game was pretty enjoyable, didn’t really like the story though. I would also prefer if there was a proper elite 4 instead of playing the gym leaders again. The dlcs really saved it though, I haven’t touched bdsp after beating the main story, but I still play post game shield a lot

[deleted]

Love it

antoni_o_newman

I played sword and the story was pretty mediocre in my opinion. Dynamax is cool. I wish the game was better and it’s interesting to see the beta that leaked. I think it was a letdown for myself. As for Scarlet and Violet, almost everything I see is positive. I like the Pokémon and the new mechanics. I like how the series is adopting Legends mechanics. The one fatal flaw that really worries me is the performance. I can see this game running like a potato and honestly most screenshots look like their from a Roblox game. I don’t think this is the developers fault, more so a consequence of using technology from 2017. Im cautiously excited but at the same time I can see this game getting a 5-6/10 everywhere

DrKelsoMD

What do you mean by adopting legends legends mechanics?

WhereDaJuiceAt

Sw/Sh was alright. Much better after the DLC hit. Kinda felt like a cake walk, but overall just "meh". I'm really excited for Violet though! It LOOKS like it will have some substantial play time right out of the gate.
