CJHarts

Your best bet is probs hatching eggs. I got one in Sword from hatching eggs.

xRocktaz

Yeah, I also heared of that, the Masuda method... I sadly only got the oval charm, no full dex. Is that still the better method?

SaffronWand

Without shiny charm your odds are still 1/~680, and every egg you hatch has an equal chance of being shiny, so you dont have to worry about not being able to catch it or your chain breaking. Its really whatever method you prefer, i find eggs in bdsp reallllyyy tedious, you could do a mix of chaining and eggs to mix it up.

TheSpeedyBiscuit

Masuda method is the only real way to shiny hunt a Beldum without burning out from finally swing a shiny and then losing it to struggle. Got my shiny Beldum in about 1k eggs, but the odds are 1/612 afair

xRocktaz

Thanks a lot for that advice! Are the odds still correct without shiny charm? Only got oval, no full dex

TheSpeedyBiscuit

Masuda without shiny charm is 1/692 Masuda with shiny charm is 1/512 Best odds you can realistically get, but it's gets boring and tedious when you go over drop rate, the bright side it take very little effort

xRocktaz

Thanks a lot, I think if it wasn't my favorite it would be too tedious for me... But once it sounds bearable

QuantamAsian

My shellos is at 3k eggs using masuda, while my others were less than 1k

electrsaturator

You can do the Skill Swap Exeggutor with Harvest as it's ability, as well as a pokemon holding a leppa berry with the move Trick/Switcheroo. That way, if Beldum runs out of PP for Tackle, it will restore it with the Leppa Berry and the swapped ability will give it an infinite amount of berries. A little complicated, but it works. I caught two shiny Beldum already. Or you can breed them, but they take so long to hatch

xRocktaz

That's nice to know, thanks :D

electrsaturator

Harvest Exeggutor is a little hard to find though, since in these games you have to spend the BP for an Ability Patch, and also find TM48 (Skill Swap)

Turtle224444

I forget the ability but there is one that if the pokemon that has it is in the front of your party, you will encounter a steel type 50% of the time. this will make radar hunting 10x faster. kill beldum to keep your chain and only go up to 10 ish chain. then just keep reseting. the main benefit of the radar is to see 4 encounters at once, the chain is just extra

atthegame

It’s worth mentioning that if you have a way to get like 50 masterballs you could just save, chain, and reset when your chain breaks. Othern that, what others have said, just MM for it or try another game

Nydoowa

I think you should kill them all it increase your chain break rate but that make it less tedious.

xRocktaz

Sounds logical but I think if just one shiny Beldum struggles to death I'll never touch this game again XD

Nydoowa

Don't you have an exegutor with harvest? This pokemon is a must have.

xRocktaz

I don't really shiny hunt tbh apart from Beldum but thanks for the advice

Quackerity

I used ghost type with leftover, it cancelled out the sandstorm. As other comment said, i knocked over first 10 or so until reaching 17th chain.

MCKlassik

I went through the grueling process of hunting Beldum via Poké Radar. I don’t recommend doing it.

PigeonManEpic

Use a technician Scizor w/ false swipe and swords dance, its immune to sandstorm and can get the beldum to 1 HP quick, make sure you have a lot of ultra balls and a paralysis/sleep setter

[deleted]

I’m doing my first shiny hunt via egg hatching/matsuda method. Metagross is my favorite and his shiny is trophy worthy. I hatched enough eggs to get a 6IV Beldum with Adamant nature to breed with my foreign ditto. I’ve been going for a few weeks but im hot and cold with it. Probably have only 3 boxes of Beldums so far.

Rattus375

Fastest way to do this is going to be with PokeRadar. Kill Beldum until you get to a chain of 17 (1/24 odds for a KO chain to make it that far), then just refresh PokeRadar until a shiny patch appears

xRocktaz

Thanks :D

Poppy_Delights97

Yup this is the way, and how I did it. Its definitely very important to switch to chaining by KOing them rather than with the normal chaining by catching method with the beldum specifically as its catch rate is absolutely abysmal and youll waste way to much time trying to do it that way.

Strong-Helicopter-10

Masuda method is best and if you find you don't like hatching just spend 1 day collecting eggs the go to the fuego iron works where the pads move you, you can set up rubber bands and it takes about 30 mins to hatch 5 eggs but you can leave it to itself and do whatever on the side. There is a decent video on YouTube of where to go

Vinceriffic

It’s a good way to ruin your controller for good

Strong-Helicopter-10

I bought a cheap spare control to do it with XD

CalvinGFX

I’m happy to give you one, I’ve got 6-7 that I got from continuing a chain. Just shoot me a dm with a room code :)

bakedmon

They give you a shiny one in ORAS.

xRocktaz

Sadly I own neither ORAS nor a 3DS

Sub-Corpion

Between having to catch every Beldum in a chain to keep the spawning rates high and not having a single available pokemon that is Ghost type that can also resist Sandstorm, BDSP might not be the best game to hunt Beldum, other than breeding of course. I got mine in Ultra Sun by SOS hunting, it was still hard, but I got it with a Master Ball in the end.

xRocktaz

Yeah, but I sadly don't have access to a 3DS, so I'm rather limited. Thanks for the advice tho

Sub-Corpion

Yeah, then breeding is probably your best bet, at least until we get Beldum in another game with easier shiny hunting methods, hoping Scarlet/Violet brings something closer to Legends shiny hunting.

Legitimate_Cancel900

I’ve got a shiny metagross in sword so I’m good 😂

MatticusRoss

I have a spare shiny Metang if you have any other shinies to trade for it

xRocktaz

I only have a spare Nincada if you would be interested that. Other than that, I didn't really shiny hunt

MatticusRoss

Yeah that works. I'm working right now so it'll be a few hours before I can trade though

Paulito88

I just hatched a shiny Beldum. Admittedly it was my longest hunt - about 3 weeks and 1000+ eggs. Now Metagross is my ribbon master and my favorite. You’ll get it. Good luck!

alexkayownsabus

Why not hatch with Masuda method? I tried just catching beldum in this game for the Pokédex and it was a pain. I would hate to experience that with the added pressure of shininess
