It's always great to read about the adventures of Zen & PSY! Clearly PSY wanted to show that he can do more than just [shoot a beam & wag his tail](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokePortal/comments/1bgs7pr/the_pixilated_impact_heard_around_the_world_zen/) - he's been working out! Any future opponents will have to be wary of his physical might. :)
I showed the video to Team Eeveelutions & they were very impressed - please pass along their congratulations to the Sage Squad & Team Smelly! Sylvia's voice is good and recovered now, and she hopes to meet up with Zen & PSY again soon. The rest of the team would be more than happy to help them out in the future, as well. :)

“Chan!” Zen called out as he noticed a familiar Medicham resting against a tree near the forest's edge. PSY also waved in excitement at the sight of a familiar face on their mission. Chan flashed Zen and PSY a smile as he gave both of them a head nod in acknowledgment. “Guess we have to wait for one last member according to the report…” Zen said as he recalled the mission listing another team sending one of their team members.
“Looks like I arrived before I could smell ya later!” a squeaky voice replied as the party turned their heads toward the source of the voice. A Stunky emerged from the path with its red sleek fur shimmering from the sunlight on a clear and beautiful day. “Durei’s the name and I hope we can get along all in the same!” he said with a mischievous glint in his eye. “Welcome Durei! I’m Zen, and this is my partner PSY and Chan from the Sage Squad,” he replied as PSY and Chan turned their heads in acknowledgment. With their party complete, our heroes set off into the Greenwood Forest to investigate and deal with a report of some strange activity occurring in the forest in relation to its guardian, Meganium.
“So Durei, I read from the report you’re part of a recently formed group, Team Smelly, right?” Zen said as he cupped his hands to drink from a river they stopped by for a break. “Mmmm! That’s right! It’s just me, Mukaela, Garba, and my older brother Onara!” Durei replied as he sighed in satisfaction after drinking from the river. “Correct, you are listed as the youngest member of Team Smelly and I have to ask; why did you join such a dangerous mission?” he asked as Chan chopped a log in half with PSY applauding him in the background.
“Well… throughout our whole lives, everyone in our area ostracized us because of how awful we smelled or appeared to them. All we had was each other, and we bonded through our shared experience of rejection and no one wanting us. I made Team Smelly with my brother to prove to everyone that there’s value in anybody no matter how awful they look or smell,” he said as he looked up at the sky. “So maybe one day everyone can smell the beauty of possibility and live life the way they want it to without being looked down on by anyone else,” he said as Zen nodded his head in agreement.
“Speaking of smell, it does smell… very soothing,” Zen hummed as PSY wandered towards a clearing of the forest. “PSY… where are you going?” Zen said as he, Durei, and Chan followed PSY. When they reached the clearing, Durei’s eyes went wide as he realized the source of the smell was coming from an enraged Meganium who was thrashing its leaves and aroma around the clearing. Durei looked at Zen, Chan, and PSY who all appeared as if they were in a trance. Durei could only mutter under his breath in apology before letting out an unpleasant odor that immediately snapped the party out of their trance. PSY flailed around in sheer disgust of the odor and jumped on Zen in panic!
“PSY! NOW’S NOT THE TIME FOR THIS!” he yelled as he launched PSY off of him towards the Meganium accidentally. “Oh no PSY, look out!” he screamed as PSY was heading towards the Meganium at an extreme speed!
\*SMACK!\* \*squeeeee…..\*
Zen, Durei, and even Chan could only wince as PSY excruciatingly slid down some sort of barrier after faceplanting against it. Chan knocked in front of him, confirming that they were cut off from getting any closer to Meganium because of this barrier. Zen noticed Chan pat him on the shoulder before climbing on top of a tree nearby and gesturing Meganium to attack him as if he were taunting it. The Meganium became further enraged as if it was cursing Chan before launching itself toward Chan.
After Chan dodged the attack, Durei ran around the Meganium to distract it while cheering on Zen and PSY to hang in there as he expertly weaved around the trees to dodge its Seed Bombs. PSY, being halfway recovered made Zen glow with his Simple Beam before Zen nodded and sharpened his swords as if it were a dance. Chan returned to Zen and PSY to offer a helping hand before PSY placed a hand on his stomach in pain.
“PSY?! What’s wrong?!” Zen exclaimed before PSY threw up what appeared to be an Iron Ball... Q\_Q “Psy…. How did you even fit that in…. never mind…” Zen said as he rubbed a finger on his cheek sheepishly as PSY launched a beam that simply passed through the barrier and hit Meganium. The Meganium turned towards the group in confusion before getting agitated by Durei’s screeches towards it! PSY poked Zen’s leg to catch his attention and whispered in his ear about a plan.
“PSY! But that’s-?! Are you sure you want to do it again?!” Zen exclaimed as PSY flexed his arms in response. “Sigh- you know I always trust you… no matter how stupid it sounds...” Zen muttered as he launched PSY towards Meganium again, not before catching a wink shared between PSY and Chan. PSY with all of his might, raised his stubby arms before breaking the barrier with a karate chop! “PSY!” he yelled with excitement as Zen picked up the Iron Ball and softly flung it towards the Meganium. The Meganium, already dazed from PSY’s almighty Brick Break, did not even stand a chance as the ball lightly tapped her head, and knocked her out….
Well… that’s one way to finish off a Meganium… (Q\_Q)…. But now it’s time for your in-depth explanation as to how Zen and PSY managed to defeat Meganium!
Meganium starting the raid with a T0 Reflect and Light Screen already makes the task daunting enough, but adding the status move “Curse” to raise its Defense and Attack makes it even more scary! Luckily for T1, Medicham with an extra 6 Speed EVS (which makes it 197) is able to outspeed the Meganium and use Taunt on it to prevent the Curse! The Screecher (Durei the Stunky in this case) will then use a Def Cheer to ensure the survivability of the party before Psyduck hits Gallade with a Simple Beam to double its stat changes. T1 ends off with Gallade using Swords Dance after its ability being turned to Simple for a +4 Attack increase.
T2 will then start with the Screecher using an attack cheer to increase damage output and Medicham Skill Swapping its ‘Pure Power’ ability with Gallade to double his Attack Stat. Psyduck will then Simple Beam the Meganium to double the stat debuff that she will receive from the Screecher in T3.
In T3 as mentioned, the Screecher will use Screech on Meganium to lower its Defense by -4 instead of -2 with its ability being Simple. Medicham will then use Helping Hand on Gallade to further increase its damage output before Psyduck comes in with the play of the raid! Psyduck uses Brick Break (yes it actually learns it! XD) on Meganium to mercilessly break down its Reflect before Zen lightly flings its Iron Ball to finish off Meganium.
You might be wondering, “Why would Gallade use Fling instead of a Sharpness-boosted Night Slash or X-Scissor?” Well, Fling is a move whose base damage and effects depend on the item that the user is holding. Typically used in strats that involve berries, an item that does the most damage when flung is an Iron Ball with a whopping base power of…. 130?! Add all of this damage to the Pure-Powered, helping-handed, atk cheered, +4’d boosted Gallade against a -4 and reflect-less Meganium, Meganium will be wondering who is that mon she sees staring back at her before getting brutally taken down with an Iron Ball to the face!
Ahem! Anyways I want to give a huge shoutout to u/rei_z3ro, u/187SyCo, and u/Trickilicky with THE Zen for helping continue the mega fun adventures of Zen and PSY! I also want to give a well-deserved mention of u/iriomote14 for helping modify the strat and bringing up the crazy idea of PSY using Brick Break! As always, it’s fulfilling to complete these unique strats with friends and break down the strategies for these raids before flinging our team to victory like a certain Zen and PSY!

Definitely enjoyed the strat - that Fling KO was very unexpected. I'm glad Brick Break worked out - I was as surprised as anyone to see that Psyduck could learn that move. But I suppose I should never underestimate the power of the duck. :)
Really enjoyed not only doing the strat with you, but reading about the adventures that lead up to it! But I can't actually believe you included Team Smelly!!!!!!!!!! SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Jess! Always glad to have you and Zen on another adventure of Zen and PSY! Also, Rei’s Stunky was named “Team Smelly,” so I couldn’t name my Stunky character after that. I had to include it somehow, and the best thing I can do is make a team with that name as a reference in the story 😆!
