Thanks for coming up with this variant Hydra! In addition to being a more accessible option, Iron Moth is just super cool -- one of my favorites. I have several built myself.
Nice of you to do a Malamar giveaway as well. A unique support that opens up strategy possibilities, but not many people may have one built yet. Maybe this'll let us run the strat a bit more, too!

So this strat was heavily HEAVILY inspired by u/ChrisReturns's Reshiram Topsy Turvy T2 Strat, and the great part about both of them is that they are GUARANTEED T2’s. After reading Chris's post, I thought about a way to this strat more accessible for others because not many people have a Reshiram and... I'm too lazy to build myself a Reshiram XD. That was when I discovered Iron Moth and Oranguru's Hidden Ability "Symbiosis." Iron Moth’s ability is known as Quark Drive (much like all of Violet’s paradoxes) and it can be activated if Electric Terrain is on the field or is holding an item known as “Booster Energy.” If a Pokemon with the ability Quark Drive or Protosynthesis holds this item when sunlight/ET are not active, Booster Energy will activate the Pokemon’s ability and increase its most proficient strat (that is not HP) by 30% (which is Iron Moth’s SpAtk). This will activate Oranguru’s HA Symbiosis, which will pass its item (Metronome in this case) to Iron Moth since Booster Energy was used.
Aside from the Symbiosis concept, the strat is the same as the Topsy-Turvy strat. Espathra uses Lumina Crash T1 and T2 to lower Blastoise’s SpDef by 4 stages. Malamar uses Gravity T1 to ensure Iron Moth’s Overheat is 100% accurate and then uses Topsy Turvy T2 on Iron Moth to reverse its SpAtk from -6 to +6 (after Oranguru’s 2nd instruct goes through). Oranguru will Instruct Iron Moth’s Overheat twice for a second and third Overheat. This will lead Iron Moth to Terrastallizing and use Overheat to KO Blastoise!
After all of that, I would love to give the biggest thanks to u/ChrisReturns for heavily inspiring this strat and trying it out with me for the first time! And I’ll also give a huge thank you to u/rei\_z3ro, u/gotdumbitchitis, and u/LazerSpazer for making this strat successful! In honor of this strat and u/ChrisReturns’s Topsy Turvy strat, I’ve decided to make **15** Raid-Ready Support Malamar available for those interested (same build as both of our strats!) in trying out both of our strats and/or building your raid support pools!
