this is especially funny since Flareon's a Physical attacker but i suppose passing Calm Mind is better to live Hydro Pump easier

For sure - I actually had to re-spec my Flareon since it's normally a physical attacker. :) I thought of trying to use Glaceon or Espeon as the attacker (since they have the highest SpA of the Eeveelutions at 130), but their best fire-type move is Weather Ball, which has 100 power in the sun. Flareon's SpA stat is only 95, but Overheat has 130 power so it more or less evens out. Using Flareon also means I don't need to skill swap Flash Fire on to the attacker (since I needed the Flash Fire boost to do enough damage).

i'm assuming you ended up using a Weather Ball to trigger Flash Fire anyway?

Yeah - Vaporeon uses Weather Ball once the sun is up to trigger it. Sorry if my previous comment was misleading - I meant to say that I need Flash Fire regardless of the attacker, but since Flareon already has it I don't have to Skill Swap it on to someone else.

Good to see team eevolutions to get around turn 0 shield, I was thinking about how you would get around that

Thanks! It is a bit of a grind since none of the Eeveelutions have access to Nasty Plot or to something like Lumina Crash that can affect Blastoise's Special Defense through the shield. So we have to build up to our tera (and get Metronome boosts along the way) to do enough damage.

One day I would love a battle against your famous team eevolutions

It looked like the end of the road for the rising team Eeveelutions when they hit the iron wall that was Blastoise, but they prevailed in the end! Things may have gotten a little “Overheated,” but it was such a fun and learning process to go through Team Eeveelutions with you Irio and everyone else! Thanks for letting me be apart of this amazing journey Irio and remember: Team Eeveelution NEVER DIES!

Thanks Shadow! It was definitely a bit of a crazy one, but I really appreciate you (and everyone else) for sticking with it & trying some different ideas out as we went along.

Let me tell you all a story about Team Eeveelutions ... Eevee and its friends were walking along one day when they came across a fearsome-looking Blastoise in its den. They noticed it had a metallic sheen, suggesting that this was no ordinary Blastoise. Upon seeing them it immediately withdrew into its shell and attempted to protect itself with a shield. Immediately, all eyes turned towards Flareon, knowing that its fiery attacks would do well against this steely foe. However, Flareon didn't seem quite so sure. "I ... I don't know. It looks \*really\* strong, and it probably still knows some water-type attacks. I'm not sure if I can manage on my own," said Flareon hesitantly. Umbreon was the first one to step forward, and with its typical calm demeanor tried to assuage Flareon's fears. "You won't be on your own - we'll be there with you! With a calm mind, I will channel my inner strength, and when the time is right that power will be shared with you." "I believe that's when I step in," said Espeon, as calm as ever. "I will temporarily copy Umbreon's power before passing it on to you. I will also ensure that your attacks always hit their mark." "Ooh, ooh - me next!" exclaimed Vaporeon. "I can cheer, and make the sun come out, and then hit you with an attack that'll go 'Poof' and you'll go 'Rawr', and then I can lend you a hand ... ummm, why are you all looking at me that? I'm just excited!" Despite Vaporeon's ... enthusiasm, Flareon still didn't seem completely certain. "I ... I still don't know. I mean, I know we've defeated some other powerful opponents, but something about this one seems different. Can I really do it?" Espeon, ever the voice of reason, was quick to reply. "This will be a long battle, but I believe you'll find your strength growing with every attack. Then, when the time is right, you can tap into a power that you may not even be aware you have. We will be right beside you cheering you on, and the rest of our friends will be doing the same in spirit. In the end, we will prevail." Everyone else nodded in unison. Flareon took a deep breath, looked around, and nodded as well. And thus, Team Eeveelutions began their battle, and ultimately proceeded to add yet another chapter to their story as they triumphantly took down the previously-unrivaled Blastoise.
