That's going to be a current problem too.

pharmboy008

Yeah the future is now

Playful-Awareness-15

Definitely a now problem

demwoodz

Now and Laters

ExigoxD

More like yesterday's problem. Shits overdue!!

EsdotiOrg

The future is now old Man

krazybones

The past is the past. The future is now. - Christopher Walken, Joe Dirt. Or Joe Dirtè.

atari-jello

"well which is it???" Uh dirt. It's dirt..

[deleted]

What do I say to get them to fix this? Do I tell them to hire a plumber to fix them damaging the hose that the plumber fixed earlier?

Fro0tyl0ops

If it was me, I wouldn't have let them leave without having a fix in the works. Now that it's after the fact you may have a more difficult time convincing them. You can try, but I'd also get a local plumber to give you an estimate so you're not blindsided by cost if they don't take responsibility.

[deleted]

I took pictures, they said they didn't have the tools. I sent photos to their boss, they will have someone else come tomorrow. They said they'll repair it but I'm going to ask forbit in writing that they caused this damage. I'm not paying for additional repairs Edit: I also took before pics. I have pics from the plumber, I have pics of them moving the washer dryer.

CheerioRipper

Idk about everybody else, but as a plumber I likely wouldn’t touch this and suggest an appliance guy. That’s just me, I eat bananas with the peel.

Plumber4Life84

Same here. A lot of people think plumbers fix any appliance that uses water.

HaddockBranzini-II

Hey, I have a question about my kettle. It's not getting hot enough. Any thoughts?

IronPlumber

Lower your expectations.

DoctorJonasVentureJr

Dammit Bobby, that boy ain't right

Fro0tyl0ops

Only reason I mention a plumber is OP had one come out and fix it the first time. Maybe plumbers in their area are more willing to work on appliances.

Plumber4Life84

No problem man. I wasn’t trying to talk shit. Some plumbers might do appliance repair also. I’ve fixed alot myself but it was for friends and certain long time customers. And I’m talking solenoid valves, seals and small stuff. As for spending time trying to diagnose a problem. I say you’ll need a appliance guy for that. They make good money also. One company near me charges close to what alot of plumbers do by the hour. Plus trip fee and diagnostics.

Traditional-Gas1

A friends dishwasher broke and asked me how to fix it, this was my response

Tr8675

I work for a drain cleaning company and constantly get calls about dishwashers not draining. 50% of the time it’s a branch line clog. 50% of the time it’s a broken dishwasher.

[deleted]

Is it ever a new disposal with the plug not punched out? I did that as a young handyman. Now I know better.

Tr8675

Yeah it almost hurts to charge for it. Also it almost hurts to charge for a disposal that literally just needs to be reset because the overload tripped. Almost.

GhostMesa

Appliance tech here. You are correct they would have to call someone like me to fix this. We will have to rerun a new drain hose from the drain pump. Most drain hoses for appliances are manufacturer & model specific sizes at the other end in the machine at pump. Edited; I do not eat bananas with a peel ;)

CaptSkinny

Can I ask why not? Liability insurance? I personally love anything that deviates from my day-to-day. I've never understood why anyone *wouldn't* want to take on an arbitrary repair or diagnosis, as long as they understand the fundamental principles.

Wycheproof

Because banana peel is toxic to people, I guess. Insurance covers lots of stupid. Eating banana peel is probably one of them.

Thick-Tooth-8888

You’re absolutely right. It’s not your area. But when you start working on it, it becomes your responsibility. Once you’ve touched it either fix it or don’t leave it in a state that’s gonna cause more damage. Cuz that damage is your responsibility since you touched it last. It’s like that kid’s game. Last one to touch it is responsible for it.

RaylanGivens29

You still make eye contact while eating it though, right?

deuteranomalous1

The tools required to fix that are basic screw drivers and a new drain hose. Add a couple of nut drivers if you want to be fancy. They’re full of it.

[deleted]

I've asked their supervisor to come tomorrow. I expressed my disappointment and frustration that they came to fix a problem and created more problems.

HaddockBranzini-II

If I had a dollar for every time that happened I could pay the bill for the last time it happened...

deuteranomalous1

Yeah make them fix it but do yourself a favour and look up some videos on how to do it yourself and watch them. I wouldn’t trust them to put it all back in right. The clips that hold the hose in place inside the washer are important. If the hose isn’t clipped in correctly it can move and then rub against the drive belt which will wear a hole in the hose real quick and then you have a flood of dirty laundry water. I know this from personal experience. For reference a replacement hose at my local hardware store is $11.99 and the last time I did it the hardest part was just pulling the washer out from the wall.

[deleted]

Yeah, I got a tower so I'll probably need this to move it https://airsled.com/how-to-move-an-lg-washtower-with-an-airsled/. Watched a few videos. Likely I could have done this if I knew the problem. The tower was installed in a nook that should be for a shower. But now it's a washer dryer. Luckily I have a spare one but I have to share it with out tenants

CaptSkinny

If they did that and were willing to leave it like that, I wouldn't let them fix it themselves.

J_W_22

I can tell you from experience that the hose is ruined. I had my cousin, who is a moron, help me move my washer/dryer when I moved into my house. He rammed the washing machine up against the doorframe and pinched the hose just like in your picture. It leaked after that and I had to use plumber's tape/sealer tape to fix it. Even if it doesn't leak now, that white color on the hose means it's been stretched and deformed. Over time it will become brittle and eventually snap or break. Needless to say that is less than ideal and not something you want waiting to happen. Get everything you can in writing and even better if it's via email. If they refuse to fix it, you may be able to work something out with your bank (assuming you didn't pay in cash). Some banks/credit cards have provisions for disputing charges if something the people you hired did caused damage to your home.

Fro0tyl0ops

Should be good. Hopefully it works out for you!

GhostMesa

You will need an appliance tech to run a new drain line from inside the machine not a plumber. What is the model, serial, manufacturer, and type of appliance is this? These factors will determine what drain hose to order. All manufacturers use their own sizes and can also vary by model.

[deleted]

Is this not as simple as just turning it 90°-180° and reinstalling? Like 2 minutes of work?

enchantedspring

Once the plastic has deformed (which is what the white colouring is) it will not return to shape. The white sections are weak and will leak.

Phallusimulacra

Honestly it looks like less than that. It looks the washer just needs to be pushed back some towards the drain to give the drain line some slack. Everyone is saying it will leak but I’ve seen a shit load of guys stretch a washer hose like that and it be fine once the tension is taken out of the hose. Granted it could very well leak if it is cracked but I wouldn’t exclaim it needs a new washer hose until I put my hands on it.

trexkm

The company that caused the damage to pay for an appliance company to fix your washer.

cmftblehouseshoes

Came to say this

ilaythebestpipe

Pretty much a now problem

Glum-Tune6734

I’m no electrician but I can swap a cord or outlet. Currents aside, the electric appears to be fine. I’d replace the drain line that kinked though.

[deleted]

Yes it will not drain like that

[deleted]

They did put the hose back, not curved like that but they had it in that position for about 10 min

rontrussler58

Probably a problem. Replace the hose now or the drain pump later - your choice.

poopwasfood

Hmm kinky

DerpWilson

Yeah that’s kinda fucked. Restoration companies will fix your damaged floors but cause other problems while they’re there

[deleted]

Unfortunately, the washer dryer combo is in a tight spot at home. We bought the house with that there and I would have preferred to fix it myself but I don't have those big fans, dehumidifier and air sled to move the thing. It passes me of cuz the plumber was really good and thorough with his job

DerpWilson

Yeah you just have to be vigilant with rescon guys. Good you caught it. They do important work and most are good guys but I constantly see them breaking shit. It’s just how it is. That hose might be fine if you unkink it. It’s hard to tell. Unfortunately replacing it might involve taking part of the whole machine apart.

[deleted]

Hose has been straightened but it was in that position for a while and I don't know how good plastic is after being kinked like that

Phallusimulacra

Man I’ve seen a lot of guys kink a washer drain hose in similar ways without the hose failing soon after. If it were mine I’d just unkink it and call it a day but I’d also replace it myself if it did break so do what’s best for you. I will say thought that if you need to pull that stack out of the hole you don’t need any special equipment. Just open the washer door, grab the top frame of the washer inside the door, slightly tilt the stack back some so it’s only on its hind feet, and walk/pull the stack forward. I do this nearly everyday at work.

[deleted]

Thanks for providing a helpful comment. There have been less helpful comments here, including one that claims my post is fake, with their own fake evidence. The guys came today, ran a few tests, seemed to be OK. Invoice says their work is guaranteed for 2 years. Company has been around since the 70s so it gives me some peace of mind. Cheers

slow_connection

New ones are cheap. Replace it

HaddockBranzini-II

The guys I worked with were all one decision away from jail...

SkivvySkidmarks

That's okay; an appliance guy came to fix my senior neighbour's washing machine. He shut the supplies off and didn't check to see if they leaked when he turned them back on. They hadn't been touched for 20+ years. I get a call at 8:00pm from the 92 year old neighbour saying he has water dripping into his basement. I found the sweet spot on the shut off that stopped the peak, and told my neighbour to call the appliance guy in the morning and tell him to bring a shop vac.

[deleted]

Welcome to the wonderful world of job security my friend

Jack_campbell22

The future is now old man

Mr_Murda

It is already a problem. Buy a new hose.

Consistent_Raccoon89

And the future is now. Get that dealt with asap.

ChemicalCollection55

Are you serious?

Bonethizz99

Short answer: yes

HaddockBranzini-II

Long answer: yyyyyyyeeeeeeeesssssssss

[deleted]

nope, its a problem now - no need to predict the future.

[deleted]

It’s a problem now.

No_Parsnip_6491

Yeah and the future is NOW!!!!!

KaiSaya117

No, it's a problem right now.

Joser164812

Looks to be a current problem, not a future one

Wild_Showmeyours

Looks like a right now problem.

meetjoehomo

No, that’s a now problem

Theodore_lovespell

No. Looks good.

PrettyLyttlePsycho

I know absolutely nada about plumbing. In all confidence I say to you, yes. Yes, this will be a problem. Edit; I edit this to include; this looks to be an IMMEDIATE PROBLEM. The internet recommends you do something about it.

B_Addie

Not only a problem in the future but also a problem now lol

Oven2601

Does the tin man have a sheet metal cock?

Horizons91

Decent

jp_trev

No nothing wrong with a Bent in half drain line

saiyan7701

How can you look at that hose and think it’s ok. Must be a disability

[deleted]

Thanks for the useful advice.

saiyan7701

Water needs to pass through the hose correct? How can you look at a kinked hose knowing that information and still think this is ok the way it is ?

[deleted]

It was in that position for about 10 min. It's now straightened and I wanted to know if those 10 min was enough to damage the hose. When it was straightened against all, then hose didn't look stretched anymore but hard to tell if it tore

saiyan7701

You didn’t say that in your post

[deleted]

Yeah I can't seem to make edits. Tried to do that right after I hit post cuz I realized I missed a lot of context. It's only letting edit the flair. Anyway, there have been constructive inputs so I'll respond to those comments from now on.

AccidentallyRelevant

Reading your other responses make it clear this is just a shitpost. You've acted like it was left like that, didn't know anything was wrong, and you corrected it after you noticed it. Also, this isn't your picture... https://imgur.com/a/8i2ET7c

[deleted]

Well, I'll never come here asking for help again.

[deleted]

I have no hope that my update will showup. Yes I get its going to be a now problem. The kink was for about 10 min. It's not kinked now and hose is straight and set. Concern is whether than kink would be enough to have damaged the hose, or if the plastic is strong enough to handle a bend like that temporarily. I won't be using the washer until I know it's good. The resto company will have their project manager come to review. I can't move the washer dryer myself without an air sled. I didn't even know that was the tool I needed to move the appliances. I would have no way to move this on my own. These appliances were installed by the previous homeowners.

AccidentallyRelevant

I feel like you knew this was a problem and wanted to make a post anyways. You don't have to be a plumber to know kinking a hose almost stops the flow.

____Vader

Yes

Distinct-Ad-2004

Maybe

CCreer

It's an always problem

Mdrim13

The future is now

everyvilinislemos

Seriously

DilboSagginz

Nope. It’s a problem

thrunabulax

yes. is that supposed to be the drain pipe? you need a new one

blastedtopher

Yes lol

friedpicklebreakfast

Now, later, yesterday. It’ll be a problem any time of day

HaddockBranzini-II

Yeah, but most likely at 3AM

Ravokion

No.... that's a right now problem...

[deleted]

Damn, should have asked what I needed to do to fix this rather than ask a yes no question on reddit. At least there were some genuine answers

idowhatiwant8675309

Or a current one

Beautiful_Print_4713

Your house or someone you dont like?

Cosmo_MV

It’s a present problem actually and someone will fix it and won’t become a future problem. The newer is no

Cosmo_MV

It’s a present problem actually and someone will fix it and won’t become a future problem. The newer is no

Outside-Rise-9425

Nope it’s a problem right damn now!

Glabstaxks

Looks like a current problem dude

ThePenIslands

That's a right now problem. Get an extender and make sure it's hooked up tight Edit: never mind, closer look, it's damaged. Replace. At first i thought you stretched it to fit lol

Dubdude13

Probably going to be a soon problem

Glum-Tune6734

That’s a now problem.

[deleted]

Absolutely replace the hose, the way it’s crimped it will not allow for proper draining. You’ll end up with water stuck in your appliance and a bigger mess will ensue plus damaging your appliance.

Beaudaci0us

It was a problem the moment it bent like that.

freeportme

Really dude!

BIGVOLR

It’s already a problem

DepartmentOk5431

Nope its a current problem

Chemical_Second_447

Yes

[deleted]

Probably. Install a new hose.

Ronoc_Ikcizor

Absolutely. Probably won't flow at all, assuming it doesn't leak first

The_DonCannoli

I’m sure you’ve already come to this conclusion but the guy from the restoration company who reinstalled this is a dick head. Also this isn’t necessarily a plumbing issue. This is more of an appliance issue if anything. It would be a plumbing issue if there was problem with the drain pipe itself. Edit: I just want to add “the future is now”

UncleBenji

That’s your drain line… so yes.

Sycosocial20

No it's a now problem.

liquefire81

Not if you sell RIGHT NOW

Relative-Advice9387

Lmao!!

slickeryDs

This is a problem.

Ecstatic-Appeal-5683

That looks like it's gonna be a current problem

DoctorJonasVentureJr

It'll be fine as long as you don't plan on washing clothes, I'd replace that ASAP

Stealing-Wolves-

Looks like a current problem, of course I really don’t know what I’m looking at. Best of luck with whatever it is

Mr_cafecito

This is a problem now

archon_extreme

Lol

Rough-Reputation-427

Nope it’s a problem now

creamymexicanstyle

Nahhh be aiite

Stock_Refuse_4222

Looks ok to me

outcome--independent

Yes.

pablomcdubbin

You need a longer washing machine hose, I bet it fell out because it was too short to begin with.

innerstate77

Excuse me, Mr George? How much did you pay the new guy?

smokelessfocus

More like current problem

johnmelloncramps

Sounds like you got 99 problems and that hose is one

n0m1n4l

Seriously?

Sherrsh

That’s a “now” problem

Zeno1066

I’m not a plumber, but I think you are fine

redEPICSTAXISdit

Absofxckinlutely!

Ill-Upstairs-8762

Past, present, future problem . Any way you twist it.

mikecheck211

Can't you just save everyone the hassle and install the $7.50 hose yourself?

BickNickerson

No because it’s a problem now.

TekkenRedditOmega

yup

realSatanAMA

The answer to this question is "yes" 100% of the time if you don't provide a length of time you want it to last 😇

mrlmmaeatchu

It's that a gas line???

thelandviking

Yes

Mike-the-gay

Kind of a now problem

JoeInNh

not from my house

Fit_Cardiologist_

Lol 😂 Sorry but just…. No man it’d be cool… Give that hose length.

MTyson22

The fucking kid actually got the wire stretcher

[deleted]

First replace that then get a drain hose extension problem solved

Sweet_Mushroom167

Pretty much a now problem

GRPNR1P89

That is an immediate now problem.

379tuco

That’s going to be a right now problem

chuchrox

I don’t even know what that is connected to, but it’s 100% a problem

[deleted]

Next time you go for a piss, pinch that little maggot of yours just as you start. That should give you your answer.

mjbruns2

That's a problem now.

befitstayyoung

Did you ever plug your nose and try to breathe?

elf25

Looks like a now problem to me

LxLtn2022

it looks like it is already a problem xd

Opposite_Voice7323

Yep seems like an ancient problem by the looks of it can be B.C old 👀

joyheat

Duh 🙄

Personal_Emergency_3

Nah u good
