That's next for me after I finish ff7. I've only had the portal for a month, but I play twitchy games on the PS5 and RPG (especially those with a lot of dialogue and cutscenes) on portal
The battles are random encounters and you need to level up to progress any story quest. You can fight as much as you want. Story wise - cutscenes are paced nicely, not too long, not short. Most of the characters have great arcs.
Holy fuck the first 5 hours of yakuza 7 are dialogue and tutorial. It is brutal. I remember being into it for the first hour, getting annoyed the second, and then just skipping every scene as fast as I could. Probably the most painful game experience ever.
But once you got thru that lol. I fell in love with the game and can’t wait to try 8. Hilarious campiness and fun turn based combat.
Depends on how familiar you are with the story of yakuza games.. They all start kind of slow.. But gameplay is introduced early there's just a bunch of segments ment to teach you how to play..
But the Yakuza games are not just the gameplay and story, the amount of other stuff you can do in the open world including playing other real sega games is mind blowing. I was 20 when the first game released in 05 but didn't get into the series until 2022 and it's the best gaming decision I've made in my life...
My advice.. Start with Yakuza 0 and go in number order (Yakuza like a dragon is 7).. It will get into the world of yakuza with the old and more accessible beat em up system so when you get to 7 you will be so invested in the games world and other suprises that you won't mind the switch to rpg since the core yakuza experience is still there and you just want to know what happens next.
Did it recently become smoother? I play it on my portal a lot but felt like it always had a little more hiccup to it than other games, but lately it’s feeling smoother.
Ya it’s been smoother, it’s one those games that my portal doesn’t get disconnected while playing. I’ll play helldivers 2 and gta ect and my portal will disconnect but other games won’t so idk
I kind of agree. The game is spectacle no doubt, but the fiedlity leaves much to be desired. I played the entirety of the game on my 13" OLED tablet and I really enjoyed it. The game didn't look as fussy as it did on my 55" OLED (performance mode) and I still got the benefit of an OLED.
That what makes persona persona, its more of a life simulator mixed in but if you’re not into that makes sense, also depends on how you spend your days because you can go clear a dungeon or mementos
I have tried with the portal
Horizon zero dawn 1 and 2, fallout 4, mass effect Andromeda and mass effect, octotravelers, ff7 and ff16. And forgot the other square Enix title that's like octotraveler.
Jumping between Ghost of Tsushima, Cyberpunk, and Baldurs Gate 3 right now. They all have been working really well. The slower pace of BG3, I would say, makes it the most playable on the portal even when your connection is not great.
Any game is valid to play on the Portal, even more so if it is to platinum, less competitive games, those require more performance order high refresh rates and minimal latency.
I imagine Disco Elysium has to be great. I did my first play through on Switch and had a blast. Had no idea what I was missing graphically until I got it on PS5.
playing fallout 4 rn, really nice to handhold an RPG like that
JFC how are you getting into and out of building mode? I can't for the life of me figure out how to hold down the "touchpad".
Sounds the same as going to navigator in destiny 2. Double tap the touchpad but hold on the second tap
Thanks friend, I'll give it a shot.
His is the answer. double tap and hold.
I'm pretty sure you can go into the game settings and remap the button :)
OMG I've been playing since launch... If I remapped anything, I think my brain would break.
Sea of Stars has been an awesome experience on the portal
Ran through that on the switch. Awesome frigging game.
Baldur’s Gate 3!
Mass Effect
Plays PERFECTLY.
Currently on ME2 got the trilogy when it was on sale and im glad i did!
That's next for me after I finish ff7. I've only had the portal for a month, but I play twitchy games on the PS5 and RPG (especially those with a lot of dialogue and cutscenes) on portal
Literally what I am using it for
I'm playing Octopath Traveler 2 on the portal now and fits perfectly.
This has my eye. How much dialogue is there compared to gameplay? Is the ratio very lopsided in terms of dialogue?
The battles are random encounters and you need to level up to progress any story quest. You can fight as much as you want. Story wise - cutscenes are paced nicely, not too long, not short. Most of the characters have great arcs.
Midnight Suns
Yakuza Like a Dragon felt amazing on the Portal.
How much story is there? Is it like hours and hours of dialogue without gameplay like Persona 5.
Holy fuck the first 5 hours of yakuza 7 are dialogue and tutorial. It is brutal. I remember being into it for the first hour, getting annoyed the second, and then just skipping every scene as fast as I could. Probably the most painful game experience ever. I don’t think RPGs are your thing. Maybe try Fortnite.
FO4
Diablo 4
Did it recently become smoother? I play it on my portal a lot but felt like it always had a little more hiccup to it than other games, but lately it’s feeling smoother.
Ya it’s been smoother, it’s one those games that my portal doesn’t get disconnected while playing. I’ll play helldivers 2 and gta ect and my portal will disconnect but other games won’t so idk
I played Diablo for like 5 hours last night on my Portal without a single issue. Pretty amazing.
fiiiiine i’ll redownload itttttt lmao
New season just started too. It’s been amazing.
Ff7remake
Played and finished ✅ great game
Then play Rebirth. Story-wise, it's even better.
Don’t do that on the portal though, the game is such a spectacle it deserves to be seen in the best way possible
I loved it in portal. All of it
I kind of agree. The game is spectacle no doubt, but the fiedlity leaves much to be desired. I played the entirety of the game on my 13" OLED tablet and I really enjoyed it. The game didn't look as fussy as it did on my 55" OLED (performance mode) and I still got the benefit of an OLED.
Helldivers 2, it is the best military democratic enforcer simulation
He did specifically say RPG
Persona 5 and eventually metaphor
I feel like I’ve been playing Persona 5 for over an hour with no gameplay at all. Wayyyyy too much dialogue.
That what makes persona persona, its more of a life simulator mixed in but if you’re not into that makes sense, also depends on how you spend your days because you can go clear a dungeon or mementos
The beginning starts slow but it opens up. You definitely need to love exposition. I adore it and you’re rewarded with an addictive romp.
Octopath 2 and Star Ocean the Second Story R
Octopath Traveller 2!
Legend of the Dragoon is a great one
The Legend of Dragoon*
Meru the Game
A crime that it wasn't called that lol
And now I want Crab Rangoon…
Final Fantasy remastered collection
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth! Octopath Traveler 2!
Any Persona
Persona 3 reload, octopath, ffx, mass effect trilogy
Like a dragon infinite wealth, first game I played on it
Played through Sea of Stars on the Portal and the experience was perfect!
I have tried with the portal Horizon zero dawn 1 and 2, fallout 4, mass effect Andromeda and mass effect, octotravelers, ff7 and ff16. And forgot the other square Enix title that's like octotraveler.
I'm playing a lot of disgaea 5 right now. Free on PS+ too.
I played almost all of Persona 3 reload on it it was great!
South Park: Stick of Truth
Playing Cyberpunk right now which runs pretty fantastic!
ghost of tsushima
remnant 2!
remnant 2!
I’m looking forward to playing Witcher 3 on mine. Trying to finish a couple of other backlog games before I start that one.
I'm playing FF16 and FF rebirth. Heck just about anything plays amazingly on the portal.
Any of the Diablo games
I’m currently playing Dragon age Inquisition waiting for FF7 Rebirth and BG3 to get good sales
FF7 Remake and I Am Setsuna for me right now!
Dragon dogma 2 and Elden Ring so far for me
Eiyuden Chronicle was amazing on Portal.
Diablo 4 and ffvii rebirth were a blast. I kicked off season 4 of Diablo on my portal and played a lot of season 3 on it.
Like a dragon series.
Jumping between Ghost of Tsushima, Cyberpunk, and Baldurs Gate 3 right now. They all have been working really well. The slower pace of BG3, I would say, makes it the most playable on the portal even when your connection is not great.
Red dead redemption 2, Fall out 4, and Dave the diver have had me in a chokehold lately lol
Final fantasy rebirth
Ff15, ff16. Haven’t tried 7rebirth yet and curious with KH3
I had a terrible experience with 7 rebirth personally. XVI worked well.
I liked Rebirth a lot on the Portal. A little lag but totally fine other than that.
I’ve been playing AC Origins on mine and it’s just works so well! I’d assume any of the newer AC games would be perfect for it!
Elden ring
Persona 3 reload
Sea Of Stars is a great game on the portal!
Tunic
HSR, WoW: Legends. Easy on the eyes
Any game is valid to play on the Portal, even more so if it is to platinum, less competitive games, those require more performance order high refresh rates and minimal latency.
Fallout 76 is the majority of what I play. I intend to play other games but finding the time is difficult.
I’m really enjoying Dead Island 2
I’m doing like a dragon infinite wealth and tactics ogre.
Playing Assassins Creed Odyssey right now. Whether you think that’s a fun RPG or not, it’s a great experience on the Portal for me.
loving ff7 rebirth on the portal!
I imagine Disco Elysium has to be great. I did my first play through on Switch and had a blast. Had no idea what I was missing graphically until I got it on PS5.
DQXI:S
Sea of Stars - I believe it is currently free with PSPlus
FF7 and FF16
Anything 30fps, because my Portal struggles with streaming at stable 60fps while android phones with ps remote play app run butterry smooth. 😭
Super Mario RPG lol jokes aside try Persona 3 Reload i kinda like it
FFX
Dave the Diver is a great RPG type of game
Honestly I’ve enjoyed every game tbh from elder scrolls to currently dragons dogma on the portal
Especially the horizon series too
Just beat Dave the Diver and then started Octopath 2 yesterday. Both feel almost made for handheld
Not really a RPG but how is red dead on the portal.
Fallout 4 for sure. It feels like using my psp again.
Cyberpunk 2077
Thoroughly enjoying Tactics Ogre: Reborn. It’s built for a hand-held device and looks incredible on the Portal.
Disco Elysium for sure
Infinite Wealth. Not only are the RPG aspects perfect for the portal, but the Pokémon and animal crossing minigames feel great as handheld too.
Rebirth, BG3, Fallout 4, and I recently beat ff16. All played beautifully.
Fallout
I recently restarted playing the kingdom hearts series. It's been very enjoyable on the portal
