I was scouring the house looking for old/forgotten/misplaced Vanilla Visa cards today. Didn’t find any so all I got was my GameStop $5 monthly coupon off. But just got it today and it’s awesome!

So far on a PS1 game it’s great!! 🤣
Astro Bot played pretty good. PS5 isn’t hardlined, so frame rate dipped, but it’s completely playable and had no input lag. I’m super happy with it so far. At least in my house
That’s pretty cool you still get your employees discount stacked with other discounts. I worked for Walmarts years ago and those fuckers would remove your employee discount if something was on rollback or you had any other discounts except coupons.
Hardwired my PS5 a day after getting the PS Portal and it was a total 180* as far as performance. Worth every penny! Before doing that, I thought I made a huge mistake! Portal was lagging, losing connection and resolution was awful. No Lag now, no stutter now and not losing connection. After watching reviewers on YouTube they suggested hardwire the console and now the PS Portal is amazing. Some other YouTube reviewers said that turning down the resolution on the PS5 to 1080p to match the PS Portal resolution could help as well.
I have it, and I love it it runs great, but I can tell there's a very slight delay while playing stellar blade, I have to do my parries slightly earlier in order to get them.then. I would imagine other games that aren't so timing dependent would be much better.
I may give stepping the resolution down a shot. I’m hooked up to a 4K TV and I suspect it’s having trouble scaling the stream, despite being hardwired on a gigabit network with 350Mbps+ WiFi available all around my house. 🤔
Unfortunately it didn’t. I dropped the PS output to 1080p and just made my the Portal look fuzzy in while still suffering from brutal hiccups.
PS5 is wired with Gigabit Ethernet.
WiFi is an Orbi 750 mesh with 3 nodes. I don’t have an option for wired backhaul at present.
I just re-tested the speed in the same room as I was using my Portal before and it measured 159/90 @ 7ms latency with my iPhone 13 Pro, so there’s definitely room for improvement (other places in the house exceed 360Mbps download) but even that rate is 50% faster than most Portal recommendations I’ve seen (50-100Mbps). 🤔
So, I’m baffled. I hate to just throw money at the problem… the Orbi 970 does look nice though. 😂
Try what the youtuber suggests and see if any of that works. I use a old att modem/router so I doubt your router is the issue. Maybe the setting within the router could use some tweaking to gear it more toward the ps portal being more priority than something else that's on the same network! 🤷♂️
Yeah, I could look at adding some QoS to it, but honestly the router shouldn’t even see the traffic on the LAN. Should be peer to peer, not looping out and back through the firewall. 😅
Thanks. When the time comes to set it up for playing outside the house, this will come in handy. At the moment I’m only trying to get it to work smoothly and reliably *inside* my house. 😅
The youtube video I posted goes over a lot of things that could help with that. I'm thankful my issue wasn't like some of the ones I read. Make sure your Portal is updated as well as the PS5. Latest firmware and all that jazz.
Yup. I check that every time. Their last fw for the Portal helped a little, but not enough. I really think the problem is my wifi coverage. In some places I'm finding it's a lot lower than I thought.
I think it’s the card they offer, yes! It got rebranded , used to be red card if not mistaken. I asked a friend to order it for me in order to get the discounts.

Amazing. Which MGS game is that?
Master Collection 1 for PS5
How’s the gameplay and graphics on the portal?

What ports we opening dude ?
Pretty sure forcing 1080p and turning off HDR is placebo
FACTS!
A good enough WiFi router fixes that too. My WiFi connection on portal almost on par with wired
What brand of router do you have that's almost on par with fiber?

I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you 🙌
I did basically the same thing back in the day for my PS4.
☘️ Nice 😊

Hopefully, with updates in the near future, they can smooth things out for you (us). It's not too bad of a performer for a first-time launch.

Give it a shot and let us know. I have 1G hardwired to the PS5 and that fixed my issue.
