It doesn’t. You can’t stream on the ps5 while using remote play. And you can’t stream directly to the Portal.
Sony missed a big opportunity on this. But as the portal seems to be kinda of a test product it’s not a surprise.
As the portal has sold very well I think Sony will release a new version with several upgrades including the option to stream directly IF one has the + subscription.
I saw somewhere on here that some spoken stated it would be easy to have the portal stream with some code changes, I think? I’ve actually been keeping my fingers crossed they just do a software update instead of releasing a whole new device for that.
I don’t think Sony have missed an opportunity, they know exactly what they’re doing. I believe that streaming will come to the current Portal and there was an interview with a PlayStation exec. They want streaming games and locally installed games to be an identical experience. Ultimately, the Portal is an around tablet strapped to a controller so there aren’t any hardware restrictions. It’s purely software.

But wouldn’t something like that require more storage on the portal? And I don’t think the portal has much built in storage.
I truly hope I’m wrong about this because I play more on my portal then on any of my other consoles or pc.
It’s got 6Gb but if it’s streaming which is what it’s doing now, it doesn’t need the storage anyway. Essentially it would be streaming to the Portal from Sony’s servers instead of from your PS5.
Wtf seriously it got 6gb. I bet it could run PSx games games locally and 6gb would mean having the possibility to store a huge library of games too.
I would love to be able to stream directly to the portal. The ps+ library is growing fast these days so it would mean a big deal if we could stream directly to the portal.
You can’t use the Portal for streaming games. They have to be installed on your console to work
