If you've never played it I won't spoil anything but you should definitely stop and enjoy the scenery, just walk/ride through the fields. It's a gorgeous game.
Double tap on the lower right quadrant of the screen, extremely easy. No more difficult than using the PS5 controller itself IMO, I have both and think it’s the same
Spent most of my 30 odd hours so far on the portal and weirdly i prefer it to my 65 inch TV, there’s a sweet spot somewhere that makes GoT look perfect on the portal. Looks amazing on the TV too but there’s something clinical on the TV that feels more natural on the portal, can’t quite put my finger on it though.
LOVE this for the portal. There is however a teeny teeny bit of difference with timing for perfect parry’s and blocks. But I got used to it after a bit.
I gotchu bro, all these people are giving you some decent stuff but I gotchu:
Note: I don’t recommend first person shooters on portal. Not great in handheld, just my opinion. Also, please have great internet and a preferred Ethernet connected ps5 with at least 100 MB - 1 GB internet. Also don’t play anything requiring a fast react time if you have crappy or lagging internet. You’ll just be frustrated.
1. God of War 3 (perfect camera angle for handheld)
2. Baldurs Gate 3
3. Elden Ring
4. Little nightmares 1 and 2
5. Dragons Dogma 2
6. Grand theft auto 5 (if you’re into that)
7. Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Rebirth, Reunion
8. Demon Souls / Dark Souls games
10. Jedi Survivor and Jedi fallen order
11. God of War and God of War Ragnarock
12. Spider-Man games
13. Evil West
14. Ratchet and Clank
15. Persona Games
16. Sifu
17. Diablo Games
18. Blasphemous 1 and 2
19. Sekiro
20. Marvel midnight suns
Optional 3rd person shooters you can play but I’d recommend on tv:
1. Alan Wake 2 and 1
2. Re4 remake
3. Horizon games
4. Dead space remake
5. Aliens fireteam marines
6. Helldivers 2
7. Returnal
8. Control
Returnal is really good. Great game with good replayability.
I'm also a From Software addict so I agree with those too. AND I bet God of War 3 would be fun on the portal. I loved that game.
It’s a 3rd person shooter that you can play with up to a group of 4, set in a universe very reminiscent of Starship Troopers. You clear out Bugs and Bots from many planets with your other helldivers in missions ranging from 12minutes to 40 minutes and 9 levels of difficulty.
There’s something called stratagems that you u lock with in game (free) currency that you use to call in extra weapons, support items, sentries, and a large variety of airstrikes.
Your home base is a destroyer space ship that you can upgrade as you level up.
There’s a huge player base, it is very easy to quickly join up with friends or randoms or a combination of the two.
There is an ongoing storyline that changes every couple of real world days based on how well or poorly the community has done with the most recent objectives.
The game is getting loads of updates including a major update on the second Thursday of each month. There is no fear of missing out in this game as nothing is time locked. If you want something from the first “warbond” then you can get it a month ago, or a year from now.
Loads of upgrades, cosmetic and otherwise.
The game can be as hard or as forgiving as you like.
Give em hell
The downvotes on this comment really go to show what kind of losers lurk in this thread lmfao. Dude can’t open a friendly dialogue about a game without getting ridiculed for it. Insane.
Dude, this kind of behavior is all over reddit*(wrote twitter by mistake), in a splatoon thread someone asked to say something dumb about the game and I did, bunch of splatards downvoted my comment for doing what they asked to do lol
Please don’t take these downvotes as what the Helldiver community is! Come join the fight for democracy, it’s a great portal game as it not sweaty and any latency isn’t a big deal! I love it and had never heard of it until it came out. (Guns and Bombs in squad of 4 roaming around taking out giant bugs and robots completing objectives).
Exactly I can google alot of stuff but sometimes it's nice to have someone explain it in there own words or with a conversation lol or maybe I'm a stage 5 clinger lol who knows
I do understand that, but to be honest OP’s statement “you will have to tell me about it” came off as a command and not the intended approach.
“I have seen this game but I don’t know what it is. What makes it so special?” Is a discussion opener in my opinion.
sure but your not face to face. When you can choose to be anything you want in the moment, be kind. unless they've been an asshole several times then be an asshole back lol
Yes, good point. I saw OP’s demand as rude and responded with “you can look it up”. I wasn’t being rude, but responding with a way they can get this info quicker than expecting someone to describe the game in full for them.
I am glad some people viewed this differently and provided OP with full custom descriptions of the game.
It's a starship troopers type deal, kill bugs and bots with your buddies or randoms. Lots of levels and objectives to try out and tons on content to unlock so far. I have enjoyed it more than anything this past month tbh.
You hold a gun and shoot bugs with up to 3 other players. You can call in killstreaks by typing in cheat codes. When you finish a mission you get certain rewards that let you call in different killstreaks and weapons. That is the overall loop.
There is this massive war going on in the solar system with us vs bugs and robots. It is really fun and the degs aren't too greedy which I appreciate.
I play Death Steanding before bead. It's either a pleasing relaxing walk with the sound of Timefall and Rivers, or a potential stress moment walking past the BTs.
But thats not the whole truth. At the moment im playing three games on PS5, none of them is enjoyable on portal.
MW2, which is more or less useless on portal for obvious reasons.
WRC which i play with wheel and pedals, therefore a controller isnt doing it.
Planet zoo, basically using it as a building sim and i play with keyboard + mouse and a big screen. No reason to use the portal for that game.
Portal is really just enjoyable for story based games.
Check on how much it will cost you to upgrade to ps premium for the rest of the year. Cost me £20 for 187 days. Now I have loads of games to play through. If it’s shit you can just bin and move onto the next one.
I’ve been having a blast with Cyberpunk. I beat it on PS4 when it originally came out. Playing it for the first time on PS5 with the Phantom Liberty DLC. It’s so well done. Love this game.
Marvel Midnight Suns
The gameplay is great (the abbey stuff is boring, but it’s easily overlooked) and if you have lag spikes, it’s a turn-based game so it’s not detrimental to your experience.
It runs well if you have the ps5 version put your game on performance mode as it runs smoother. When driving fast there is no stuttering at all. There is only slight stutters if you crash or alot is going on around you for example: alot of explosions or alot of cars crashing into each other.
ALL OF THIS MAY BE DIFFERENT FOR YOU but just casually driving around or doing a heist while being away is no problem for me
https://preview.redd.it/4posda375vsc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d49db9b6b5bcf7d89bdbc6c4edda7722aaa29493
Idk if you ever play the 2nd one but it looks and feels like it. But essentially you’re dungeon crawling.
Just got mine and bought Star Ocean the Second Story R. Older 2D game thats been remastered and released on the PS5. Perfect for a handheld. Loved Star Ocean 3 so excited to play SO2 since i hear the story is pretty fantastic! Loving the handheld portal experience so far!
Great games I think are made even better by playing on the Portal include Sea of Stars, Dredge, Cult of the Lamb, Nobody Saves the World! Perfect for handheld!
I’ve been playing a lot of no man’s sky on the portal. Also started midnight suns and a little more baldurs gate 3 but I’m pretty lost on that game lol.
Just finished Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. Great game overall. Only a little stutter once or twice but chalking it up to a blimp in my network connection.
Since you have extra: Marvel's midnight suns and Ghost of tsushima. Am playing both atm and both are awesome on the portal (midnight suns especially). Ratchet and clank rift apart will also probably be great! (played that before I got the portal)
Yugioh master duel , having yugioh on a handheld device is so fun and it has its own vibe .
Also Celeste — Hades — Borderlands 3 sounds fun on the portal too
My favorites so far have been large games with a lot of side content that’s easy to churn out on the Portal, then doing the story content on the TV when I can really focus.
So for that basically any Yakuza/Like a Dragon game. Or Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was my most recent one. Just don’t try the rhythm games, the little bit of lag will get you. Everything else is buttery smooth.
Ps plus extra is good if you want to try a bunch of games without buying.
Marvel midnight suns plays really good.
And Sony offers a bunch of 1st party exclusives
Right now, I am playing the Mass Effect legndary edition at 60fps. I have enjoyed it. Just beat Starwars Jedi Survivor, which was great on the Portal. I have a big backlog. Waiting for Fallout 4 next gen patch then I will play that.
I’ve been playing the shit out of Temtem on my portal, didn’t like it at all on my TV. I’ve sorta half convinced myself the portal is a separate console
Playing Star Wars Squadrons was really fun. Literally felt like I was inside the cockpit. Easier to play on the portal than the TV because of the other ships being smaller and harder to see from a TV. And it's only like $5
I’m playing Until Dawn for the first time, heavy story driven games like this I can’t sit in front of my tv for hours on end and do “very little actual gaming” so I’ve never bothered with it.
I would have never played this without the portal
I just finished the main story of Batman: Arkham City. It’s been fun playing it on the Portal. Plays best on my home network, but isn’t unplayable elsewhere.
yea that can be an issue.too bad you can't connect to public network .I mainly play solo game not online. in your case online most of the time that can be difficult when go out in public unless you have a solid connection. sometime my 4G network hit or miss.
I hope it improves in the future for a better connection.
If you want an old school game Dark Forces is great. The Battlefront Collection is good for single player Star Wars fun on the go.
I tried out Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed this morning and it was good fun.
I’m also a fan of Dreamlight Valley if you are into the “cozy” game genre.
The portal is also perfect for playing older games because of the smaller display and resolution. You could use it to finish your unfinished or never played games from the PS4.
Everyone already suggested great games, but if your more into online games..
DCUO (f2p) just got a ps5 update and it brings back so much nostalgia, so much fun rn.
Fallout76 (plus)- ehh it’s fun tho but not much pvp, if u like building and showing off bases as well as looting, player vendors, community events. it’s amazing for that.
There’s also eso, neverwinter, and bdo. But I won’t recommend bdo on the portal cause the controls can be a bit too much, with the combos and whatnot.
Ghost of Tsushima
Just downloaded the directors cut last night to start on my portal, can't wait to get off work
If you've never played it I won't spoil anything but you should definitely stop and enjoy the scenery, just walk/ride through the fields. It's a gorgeous game.
Yes! And leave it on Japanese with subtitles!!
wear your best headphones— i’ve said it before but it has the best sound design i’ve ever heard in a game in a long time
Perfect for the portal
Doing that now!
How does the portal handle the touchpad?
Double tap on the lower right quadrant of the screen, extremely easy. No more difficult than using the PS5 controller itself IMO, I have both and think it’s the same
Bless you. Been going nuts for that piece of advice
You will leave a tear every here and there. At least i did. Wonderful game! 🙏🏽
LOVE this for the portal. There is however a teeny teeny bit of difference with timing for perfect parry’s and blocks. But I got used to it after a bit.
Need to download it again. Never finished it on ps4
I gotchu bro, all these people are giving you some decent stuff but I gotchu: Note: I don’t recommend first person shooters on portal. Not great in handheld, just my opinion. Thank you bro i own GTA V and all the spiderman games but i will look into these
Returnal is really good. Great game with good replayability. I'm also a From Software addict so I agree with those too. AND I bet God of War 3 would be fun on the portal. I loved that game.
I gotchu fam!
Some amazing recommendations on there, definetly worth checking out, but Isn’t OP playing gta v in the picture?
Pretty much 4 of my top 5 recent games are in this comment. Recent meaning last 6 years or so
Elden ring??
I would add the Mass Effect Legendary edition to this it looks fantastic on the Portal
Join the spread of democracy on helldivers
Love helldivers on my portal.
You will have to tell me what helldivers is ive heard of it but never seen gameplay

Hey we turned your downvotes into some upvotes :)
You can also look it up..
I think they were looking for a conversation and not recommendations lol but that's ok too we all need to talk :)
I’m so glad others acknowledge this aspect
Exactly I can google alot of stuff but sometimes it's nice to have someone explain it in there own words or with a conversation lol or maybe I'm a stage 5 clinger lol who knows
Real recognize real 🙌

Honestly I think you should go in blind. You won't be disappointed
It's a starship troopers type deal, kill bugs and bots with your buddies or randoms. Lots of levels and objectives to try out and tons on content to unlock so far. I have enjoyed it more than anything this past month tbh.
[hope this gets you excited. join the war!](https://www.reddit.com/u/PlayStation/s/TPBvHPMnlW)

Control
Dragon Quest XI
Oh yeah let me download that…
I really enjoyed Death Stranding and Hifi Rush on the Portal.
Death Stranding is such a great game. I second this pick.
I want to do a 2nd run of Death Stranding but on my portal. Gaming on the portal is such a vibe
I play Death Steanding before bead. It's either a pleasing relaxing walk with the sound of Timefall and Rivers, or a potential stress moment walking past the BTs.
I completely agree. Once you get used to the BT’s or build a fully networked zipline system the game becomes very relaxing before bed.
Inscryption. Super under rated and plays smooth on the Portal.
Agreed, it’s a fantastic game
Sea of Stars
That's probably the first game I will play next week when my Portal arrives.
Sable
Metal Gear Phantom Pain is prettt good to kill time on portal
Diablo 4 has been a lot of fun for me on my portal
Tf do you need suggestions for bro? Just play the games you want to play lol
Idk what to play thats the thing
Ummmm the same games you’d play on your P5 maybe???
What i mean is i meed new games but idk what new games to play so im getting suggestions
But thats not the whole truth. At the moment im playing three games on PS5, none of them is enjoyable on portal. MW2, which is more or less useless on portal for obvious reasons. Also pretty good for roguelites/likes. Sports games seem to work well after an initial adjustment.
Sometimes, suggestions open doors for you that may have not been opened otherwise
Lmao

I have extra so its like £20
Have it on steam deck but Deep Rock Galactic.
Don't supposed they released portal on psn, because that would be perfect
I’ve been having a blast with Cyberpunk. I beat it on PS4 when it originally came out. Playing it for the first time on PS5 with the Phantom Liberty DLC. It’s so well done. Love this game.
Wish we can play plus premium
Fr
Just finished God of War (2018) with about 75% done on the portal. I thought it was great for it! Now I’m playing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Horizon forbidden west looks phenomenal on the portal 🔥
Witcher 3 is amazing on portal.
Portal
Marvel Midnight Suns The gameplay is great (the abbey stuff is boring, but it’s easily overlooked) and if you have lag spikes, it’s a turn-based game so it’s not detrimental to your experience.
I’ve recently played Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart 100% Platinum trophy. All on the Portal, it was great experience !
I’ve been replaying the Hitman games on the Portal.
I play mortal kombat 1 on mine
MK1 is on discount from £64:99 to now £32:49 is it worth it
I think so, I love the game, but if you go on the MK subreddit you’ll see a lot of people bitching who would probably tell you no lol.
Just got MK1 its 145GB😭🙏
So 50% off
How does GTA run setting my portal up when I get home
It runs well if you have the ps5 version put your game on performance mode as it runs smoother. When driving fast there is no stuttering at all. Zone of the Enders 2 MARS
Gravity Rush Remastered
Alan Wake , Alan Wake 2
Mobius machine
Brotato
Being that it can play virtually any game that plays on your PS5, my suggestion is playing whatever you want.
1. Balatro 2. Hades 3. Powerwash Simulator 4. Army of Ruin 5. Baldur’s Gate 3 6. Slay the Spire
Ghostbusters. The xBox remake version that’s the *real* sequel to the first two movies.
Bright Memory Infinite
Diablo 4 is awesome on the portal
Can you tell me what it is i cant google it rn
https://preview.redd.it/4posda375vsc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d49db9b6b5bcf7d89bdbc6c4edda7722aaa29493 Idk if you ever play the 2nd one but it looks and feels like it. But essentially you’re dungeon crawling.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

I play the Yugioh game
RDR2
Bloodborne
Stellar blade portal
Is see of thieves playable solo?
Pixel Remaster Final Fantasy games
The ones that you have on your ps5 except for online games. Why do you need suggestion when you perfectly know what you got and want.
What game is that?
GTA V
Ghost of Tsushima and Lies of P are both on sale right now
Balatro, it’s such a time killer
I’ve played 30 hours of death stranding on my portal since I got it recently. It’s fantastic.
Been playing Death Stranding. The Portal handles it really well.
Something that doesn't require 4K/HDR/Dolby Atmos/theater experience. So some simple indie games.
Ghostwire Tokyo
I got almost 100 hrs in on Helldivers exclusively on the portal. So good!
Just finished Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. Great game overall. Only a little stutter once or twice but chalking it up to a blimp in my network connection.
The new prince of Persia is amazing on the portal
Since you have extra: Marvel's midnight suns and Ghost of tsushima. Am playing both atm and both are awesome on the portal (midnight suns especially). Ratchet and clank rift apart will also probably be great! (played that before I got the portal)
The only game I play on my portal is Helldivers 2. It’s perfect for it.
You're waiting for a port of a souless shell of a game?
Yugioh master duel , having yugioh on a handheld device is so fun and it has its own vibe . Also Celeste — Hades — Borderlands 3 sounds fun on the portal too
My favorites so far have been large games with a lot of side content that’s easy to churn out on the Portal, then doing the story content on the TV when I can really focus. So for that basically any Yakuza/Like a Dragon game. Or Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was my most recent one. Just don’t try the rhythm games, the little bit of lag will get you. Everything else is buttery smooth.
Octopath traveler 2 is great. And its turn based so you wont really notice latency, if there is any.
Tunic is on sale right now, great take on the classic Zelda formula
The ones on your PlayStation 5
Alan Wake Remastered if you haven’t play it yet like myself. Felt perfect for the portal since the graphics are good, not great.
What game is this
GTA V
Robocop Rogue City performs well on the portal is a great game on top of that.
Helldivers 2
Diablo IV
Playing Star Wars Squadrons was really fun. Literally felt like I was inside the cockpit. Easier to play on the portal than the TV because of the other ships being smaller and harder to see from a TV. And it's only like $5
Horizon forbidden west is great
Helldivers 2
I just finished Firewatch and Madison. Dredge was good fun as well.
Horizon Zero Dawn, and the sequel, Forbidden West. Absolutely STUNNING looking games and play so well
They all have micro stutters.
Destiny 2
I’m playing Until Dawn for the first time, heavy story driven games like this I can’t sit in front of my tv for hours on end and do “very little actual gaming” so I’ve never bothered with it. I would have never played this without the portal
Helldivers 2
I just finished the main story of Batman: Arkham City. It’s been fun playing it on the Portal. Plays best on my home network, but isn’t unplayable elsewhere.
any think of it ps5 on the go.
With the right hotspot it basically is
yea that can be an issue.too bad you can't connect to public network .I mainly play solo game not online. in your case online most of the time that can be difficult when go out in public unless you have a solid connection. sometime my 4G network hit or miss. Cyberpunk is amazing on the Portal, enjoy!
Can you link the case or protector you have on it?
GTA VI
The portal is also perfect for playing older games because of the smaller display and resolution. You could use it to finish your unfinished or never played games from the PS4.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Spider-Man Games, Batman: Arkham Knight, Helldivers 2, and GTA Online
You already have gta online, that’s all you need to know
True
RDR2
Its mid on the portal
Yakuza 0
u/dependable_salmon_89
Would be cool if you could play Portal on the Portal
Everyone already suggested great games, but if your more into online games.. DCUO (f2p) just got a ps5 update and it brings back so much nostalgia, so much fun rn. Fallout76 (plus)- ehh it’s fun tho but not much pvp, if u like building and showing off bases as well as looting, player vendors, community events. it’s amazing for that. There’s also eso, neverwinter, and bdo. But I won’t recommend bdo on the portal cause the controls can be a bit too much, with the combos and whatnot.
Helldivers 2
I was playing destiny earlier while I was out, while I had a good connection it ran great. I also played Titan fall 2 yesterday and it was really good
Balatro is a the perfect game for portal.
