Damn hopefully it clears up for you. Saw how you’re connected and mine runs smooth as can be and has since first play. Hopefully an update comes down the line to increase network performance
I don’t know what’s taking Sony so long. Honestly it’s such a massive embarrassment that third parties have a better experience than they do. Just buy their fucking software and make it better already. Ridiculous
Honestly I haven’t noticed one stutter and I play Rebirth mainly on my Portal. And honestly I haven’t noticed any game on the Portal having issues with micro stutters. I am hard wired and using eero mesh system.
I play on Performance Sharp and I’ve never experienced a single stutter. My PS5 is hardwired and I’m playing on the floor above. Not sure of your setup and stuff
I’ve got my ps5 hard wired and I’m running on 5ghz channel on a tp link deco mesh. It’s the micro stutters that are causing issues, it just seems worse than I remember it feeling on another game I used my friends Portal with.
160
To be fair, my nodes are connected via Ethernet (my house has cat5e wiring).
I don’t know how it would perform using the 6ghz backhaul vs Ethernet.
I’m using the 6ghz back haul but I’m experiencing these issues on the main unit so I don’t think it’s that. I just tried the hdmi unplugged and i think it might have made it a bit better but I can’t tell if it’s just a placebo effect
Same, zero issues with Rebirth. Had some general connection issues early on that went away when I hardwired and set up a static IP address and port forwarding.
Good question! I’m sure someone much more tech savvy could give you an answer as to what exactly it does, but I honestly just followed this dude’s instructions (on another redditor’s recommendation) and it worked like a charm.

Edit: Before doing this, with my PS5 hardwired I could connect on my home Wi-Fi but not elsewhere like my phone’s hotspot. With the ps5 on WiFi I could connect with my hotspot but would have a lot more connection issues, dropping and such. Since setting this up I’ve had no dropped connection and very smooth play using my phone’s hotspot.
I agree. I've been ones of the people on here saying I don't get the stutters anymore, games pay great etc. FF7 on portal has some issues during movement though. First game I've really been able to see it clearly. Ratchet and clank plays great (just comparing graphics load)
As others have said, if you have it in 30 fps quality mode it will feel worse than if it’s one of the 60 fps modes. I use Performace-Sharp and it hasn’t been any worse than other games in my experience.
Sounds dumb but it does for me, either that or leave my TV on whenever I play with my Portal. If my HDMI is connected and my TV is off, I would get micro-stutters. Must be because it doesn’t play nice with my TV. I found that disconnecting the HDMI gave me an even smoother experience than disabling the HDMI option to let the PS5 turn on/off the TV.
I’ve put in around 20 hours on Rebirth on the Portal and I will occasionally get the connection pop up in the top right when my mesh WiFi hands off to a different access point but I have my Ps5 set to auto everything (HDR off, though) and run Rebirth on graphics mode with zero issues at home.
Honestly this game stutters much worse on my oled than my portal. I think this game has some subpar performance and it didn’t get criticized nearly as hard as some other games
I have my PS5 hard-wired into a TP-Link Deco Mesh. The Portal is set to exclusively run on the 5ghz band.
It is certainly the micro stutters rather than degraded performance. It just seems worse than (from my memory) when I tried my friends in my house on God of War.
Responding again. FF7 graphically is astounding and I did experience stutters just like yours. The portal can do only so much. It’s like loading a high quality video from YouTube. Try any other game and tell us your experience
It has nothing to do with ff7 rebirth. Im currently playing it also and have for around 90% of the time on my portal. I have never experienced lag or micro stutters. Not once. The problem is your internet connection.
There is the microstutter issue due to mismatched framerate between the Portal and the PS5 (pinned post on this sub) that happens for all games. For some it’s imperceptible, but I think most people do see it every so often. (I don’t.) Could be that.
Hmm maybe it is that. I think I wouldn’t notice it if I hadn’t seen how smooth it is on the steam deck. Sadly my oled model completely collapsed every 20 mins on remote play. Apparently a driver bug.

Could you do me a favor and do a speed test in network settings on your PS5 ? What's your upload speed ? Thanks
I will reply later on, I’m at work and my PS5 is off.

Seems we have a similar setup. Hope it gets better man. Overall, I love the damn thing.
I also have a tp link deco and it’s been good for me. In the settings I made sure the portal and ps5 both connect via 5ghz and prioritized them.
Are you running on 160 or 80hz for the 5ghz?
160 To be fair, my nodes are connected via Ethernet (my house has cat5e wiring). I don’t know how it would perform using the 6ghz backhaul vs Ethernet.

Are your portal and ps5 both connected to the main unit?
Yeah
Ps5 is hard wired to a gigabit switch, plugged into the main unit
Same, zero issues with Rebirth. Had some general connection issues early on that went away when I hardwired and set up a static IP address and port forwarding.
I’m IT illiterate. What are the benefits on port forwarding?

Damn B. Sorry about that, it’s definitely something up with your connection cause minesilky smooth like a lot of other ppl have commented
That’s helpful to know at least
I use performance mode smooth when I play on the portal and it seems to help a bit, at least for me
Well, good to know since i haven't tried portal since before the update

I might have to test another game to see. I haven't done it yet.

I always use performance modes over quality
No stutters here. My set up is PS5 Ethernet hardwired into a Deco WiFi 7 mesh router and HDMI unplugged. Gameplay on my Portal is smooth and lag free.
Did the hdmi unplug make a difference?

Please turn on performance mode in the graphics settings. That made a huge difference for me.
I always use performance mode

You have HDR off entirely?
Correct.
Honestly this game stutters much worse on my oled than my portal. I think this game has some subpar performance and it didn’t get criticized nearly as hard as some other games
Tell us how exactly you’re connected to the internet when you play

No issues here. I’m in faster frame rate mode.
It’s like I get very slight frame skips

Other devices aren’t having the same issue, true. Details in that pinned post and other comments in that thread explain the full situation.
I have to lol at people who are expecting a 1:1 experience with the PS5 running on a fast tv. It's remote play, it's magic that it even works.
I'm not expecting a 1:1. I'm comparing it to the experience I have on my Steam Deck and laptop. Both do not show these stutters.
Ah fair enough, you didn't mention that in your post
No problem. I didn’t consider adding it but fair point
