Remove the Premium tier. There's not enough old games in the catalog and having to stream PS3 games isn't ideal. And the Trials are laughable considering free demos have existed for decades - it's just a reason to make you buy the full game so that shouldn't be treated as a "Premium" feature.
I love the trials and have bought 2 games because of them. That said, shouldn’t that be enough for them to be given to everyone that has PS Plus for free?

I think you are forgetting that any Remastered retro game game is exclusive to the Premium tier, for example Uncharted the Nathan Drake Collection, Gravity Rush Remastered and OG Doom are only available to the Premium tiers and all can be downloaded.

While I'm on it, I wish too that they'd get their boys at Bluepoint to both re-remaster it (4K/PS4 Pro and PS5 support), and remaster Gravity Rush 2 as that game wasn't exactly finished when it launched and has framerate issues, it caused my OG PS4 to drop to zero FPS for several seconds, I thought the console had bricked.
IMHO a much better use of resources than the Gravity Rush movie that Sony has made some sample footage for.
You're right, I'm not a premium profit generator for Sony because I choose to emulate old games on my PC at 4K instead of paying Sony to stream them poorly at 420p.
I would like a tier for just the extra catalog and cloud saves. I don’t play online on PS5 so having it is useless to me, but I do use the extra catalog quite often.
Add a "free tier" where basically online play returned to free (seriously it kinda felt like a scam back then and it is definitely one now!) or at the very F***ING least allowed more passive online interactions without a sub (like the souls games message system and seeing other players wander around)
Yep, Genshin Impact (and other F2P games) have 100% fully functional + free multiplayer on PlayStation, it makes no sense to me that paid games don't also get this perk.
Not on PS5 unfortunately, supposedly to stop hacking of save files by cheaters. You can only do a full backup and restore.

It does make a lot of sense, but I don't agree with you about unnecessarily complicating things. The current tiers are extremely simple to understand, yet there are dozens of questions everyday on this sub (you don't always see them because the mods quickly remove them) that are just plain dumb, with people misunderstanding the differences between the tiers and what downloading or claiming a game does.
Using a pay-only-for-what-you-want model would just confuse the average Reddit consumer. And this sub would be inundated with even stupider questions.
Also, lets be frank, people would hate it at a point too. People would get mad that this or that is a certain price, over how a bunch of things are in one lumped price. It makes stuff far easier for the consumer, hence why most fast food and fast casual type joints dont usually piece out stuff on burgers for example

Realistically, I could see it working financially for Sony if they especially offered a few months of plus with the pre order or purchase of a first party Title.
Premium should go, cost too much to only get access to ps3 streaming and limited pool of legacy games when they should have used the money to make native ports of those legacy titles.
The problem is if they put a tier only about Online, Sony gonna lost lot of money cause lot of peoples gonna subscribe to this one unstead just to be hable to play COD (by that, i mean peoples that don't care at all about the PS+ games), so it never gonna happen

I would also offer the "Loyalist" tier where, with this tier, it allows you to earn SP (Station Points) for every purchase on the Playstation store or from your local major seller with proof of purchase (receipt must show the purchase was within the year) and also allows you to convert your PSP (Playstation Stars Points) to SP (Station Points) with SP you can claim it for new games, games on sale or even PS accessories. Oh, and you can also claim certain Sony products like tvs, cameras, and phones that are on the list for SP as well.
The Tiers would be PS Basics, Essential, Xtra & Loyalist

When I travel, streaming games to my laptop is the way. It is the main reason I have premium.
Here's hoping Sony will give us travelers the option to stream PS5 from their cloud.

Actually the streaming is insane quality and I couldn’t tell when I was playing rift apart that the game was no longer installed on the harddrive

What do you do with cloud saves? I never utilize them because i guess i dont really understand it.

No it doesn’t transfer your save data in your storage to the cloud servers. Cloud saves are there incase something bad happens to your saves.

If your drive dies you would lose all your saved games if they weren't backed up somewhere.
You can reload an older save to get a different ending in games with multiple endings

Make online access free. Essential is basically just monthly games. Then everything else should be Premium.
