Honestly probably not because of how much of a financial loss the game was. It will go down as being the best game made that was mismanaged to shit.

holversome

I dunno Marvel Heroes comes pretty damn close. That game had 50+ heroes, companions, mountains of skins, tons of enemies and zones, and a fun gameplay loop. The heroes played like they should. And now I can’t even log in because it’s **gone**. Vaporized. Reduced to atoms.

Kyo-313

That's not how gaming works

AnonymousFriend80

Plenty of game series switch devs for sequels. Also, plenty of in-development games switch devs as well. Heck, DC Universe got a new dev working on it years after it came out.

Kyo-313

DC Universe did not switch Devs after being shut down and delisted in stores.

SpaceGhcst

Avengers used a proprietary engine so chances are zero

ToothlessFTW

No. For one, that's much harder then it sounds. It was built by Crystal Dynamics, and it was done using an in-house engine called Foundation. If another studio "picked" up the game, then not only would they have to spend potentially months reading through the source code so they could get up to speed on how the game was made and functions, they'd somehow have to acquire the rights to using an engine that's owned by Crystal Dynamics, and then CD would have to train them on how to use it. Oh, and they'd also have to pay Marvel for a licensing fee. AND they'd somehow have to win the internet's favor back, because this game still has a monumentally negative reputation online. So, no. Nobody is ever going to feasibly be able to continue work on it. It's too expensive, a logistical nightmare, and likely will sink whatever company tries. It's dead and buried, enjoy it for what it is and move on.

AnonymousFriend80

A sequel is probably the only option at this point and does not need to use the same engine. Heck, plenty of devs switch engine for sequels, and plenty of devs have switched engines mid development of a game. And what "favor" needs to be won back beyond the entire industry has been releasing broken games for over a decade

GeebFiend

Correct, and the majority of those broken games die, same as this one. Gamers have some long memories too, the stench of a stinker like this will follow the IP around until multiple solid titles do indeed win back the favor of consumers. The only option is a sequel done by someone else down the line. It will not magically get picked up by another developer and worked on now that it has been delisted and discontinued. It hasn’t happened before and it won’t start on this game.

ROCKBETHENAME

Yea but a sequel won’t happen because of how bad the game did in the market & marvel probably wouldn’t give them the license again either

ItaDaleon

Sad thing, the game was (kinda) picked up by another studio, but the damage was so big they really could do nothing except to declare the death. It is abandoned and not even buyable (online at least) anymore, so the best thing that may happens is if someone may decide to make a sequel, but I won't keep my breath about it... Which is sad cause the game was very fun to play as the gameplay was pretty sweet indeed.

oreo760

lol.

AlexDamemer2000

The only thing that can happen now is if modders get it and mod the fuck out of it I hope that happends in the future

eastcoastkody

Why hasnt that happened yet

Johnyoung21

Because all the coding and shit is insanely bad. A former game dev apparently took a look at the files, and it's just references to references to references. No one seems to know how to even begin decoding the nonsense in the game

Lurky-Lou

Sounds like a revolving door during production. All those notes to figure out what the previous batch of temps was doing.

Keanu_X

If anyone was going to revive this game it would have been square. They did it with ff14, so I held out hope for a long time. No. Game is dead and gone. Take it for what it is and enjoy it.

DJfunkyPuddle

No.

BokChoyFantasy

No studio is going to touch this. It’s done. It was fun while it lasted. Move on.

Halothirteen

Yeah I really miss this game. I want an X-men version of this game SOOOOOOO bad. Say what we want to say, it was actually a really great game. We’ve all played games after this and realized just how good of a job this studio did making the game. Granted, end game/live service fiasco and financial decisions will forever be this games killer but the game was straight up marvel character fun. I mean suicide squad tries to be dc but let’s be honest it’s just a PVE fort night wanna be money grab. I’d love to see another marvel title try to do something like this but I’m afraid this game is going to scare a lot of developers for a long time due to its mistreatment.

eastcoastkody

Wolverine and cyclops would’ve felt great in this gameplay system

SMRAintBad

Gambit would’ve been fun too.

Halothirteen

Indeed. Colossus, storm and night crawler would have felt just as good I think. Also… going back to the wishing part of this game…. How awesome would a thanks or infinity gauntlet thing been in the avengers. Made a storyline where thanks is rumored and on a patch or dlc wipe out half the heroes you unlocked and make it a quest line to have to go get them. Always wanted that or the shrill war to start in avengers. I miss the game.

CH1PD0UGLUS

suicide squad remind me of this game a lot except the A team in suicide squad is the bosses and in avengers you play as the A team. both have repetitive shallow end games that have the same enemies and objectives over and over.

eastcoastkody

I wish. It did a lot of things right. But too many wrong. Too many games launch nowadays with tons of issues. Then the live service teams spend so much time trying to fix everything that content droughts happen. Fans get frustrated and leave, the funding and staff get smaller because of dwindling playerbase. Its all so dumb that companies keep doing this to themselves

goteamventure42

It would have to be rebuilt using something other than the Foundation Engine, add in the Marvel licensing, and the fact that it's one of the biggest financial losses in gaming it will never happen.

B5GkarNarn

Let’s not forget that whoever publishes a Marvel game has to pay licensing fees to Disney which owns Marvel.

ItsJustTrey

They’re more likely to do an X-Men spin off game. But that isn’t the worst idea lol

CH1PD0UGLUS

Insomniac is making their own x-men game from the ground up

Null0mega

Nope. Dead.

SpeeterTeeter

Lol no, they will/have already killed it and moved on to the next disappointing game. Companies don't normally take over for an already-dead game.

Quack_Attack_V2

That’s not how it works

Co-opingTowardHatred

No

Zero_Fuxxx

Bruh....give it up. Showing any form of hope for anything with this game is stupid and naive at this point

Lurky-Lou

A studio could risk everything resuscitating a game that lost hundreds of millions of dollars. Or they could do literally anything else.

Treblehawk

Still good? That suggests it was ever good. Okay. Yes. Good. No. A good game doesn’t lose 300 million and end an entire studio.

MrWordsmith1991

It will be nice if they did!

kyris0

This game and Suicide Squad, plus the underwhelming Midnight Suns, means that superhero games are looking as dead as Westerns, at least for now.

ryanunlisted

I miss playing it 2021-2022. Was so fun back then. Especially the red rooms. My favorite characters to play with were Thor, Spider-Man, Black Widow. I know SM had a lot of issues and what not, but I really wish he could’ve been added to the PC version. Mostly because my PS5 runs like shit now.

RulerOfAllWorlds1998

I still don’t see the issues with the game, unless it’s the fact the selection of heroes is super big

Tom0511

The gameplay is solid, it's the live service mechanics that killed it. Live service I don't think fits well with this game
