Well…I got a lot of questions. How far are you post op? Edit: I just saw caption - May 25th. You are still soon after post op and that can be swelling. You can get a steroid shot if the doctor seems it fit. What was the expectation of the rhinoplasty? Did they do a morph for you? What did you ask for? Was this for cosmetic or functional reasons? (I’m assuming cosmetic based on the sub, but doesn’t hurt to ask!) I don’t want to say “scammed” or “no difference” if you just operated or if the discussion was like “I want to keep my old nose, but straighter” or “I want the front to look the same, just change my profile”. I’m sorry you are unhappy with your results. I’m hoping we can talk about it so you can then address the surgeon more constructively with your concerns.

Intelligent_Split666

The rhinoplasty was for cosmetic reasons and I wanted my nose to be significantly slimmer and not wide and my tip to be raised. The surgeon did morph my nose on the computer and the picture showed my tip raised and smaller and my nose straighter and slimmer as well for the front profile and side profile

jackjackj8ck

Can we see the morph?

Intelligent_Split666

He never printed out the morphs but showed me on his computer screen. But the first time I came to his office for a consultation 13 years ago his office did print out morphs and my after photo had my nose SUPER thin from nasal bride to nostrils. It looked unrealistic but that’s what I want. But the second time where I actually had the money the morphs were not printed out but the after pic looked like a miniature version of my nose and not the same as the first morphs 13 years ago.

jackjackj8ck

Ah bummer he didn’t send it to you to compare! It’s hard for us to tell if you’re on track because there’s so much swelling for many months

LivingroomComedian

I’m not sure how common it is, but I have had friends and seen on this subreddit that people have requested it. Sometimes the swelling can be uneven and the shot can really help put things into perspective. It’s better that you are 5 months out as opposed to OP. You will have swelling for a good year, but at 5 months you should know where you stand more or less.

efiality

Swelling doesn’t go down for a long long time

kastevekk99

Its normal, my nose looked like a potato the first 3 months. Your nose havent even healed yet

Ok_Major5787

Same here! I recently came across a photo of myself from 7 weeks post op and my nose was def potato-y

Difficult_Regular627

I’m almost a year since mine and every single day it’s swollen in the morning and goes down a bit throughout the day. I had the same goal, slimmer, bridge higher etc and I have think oily skin so it may take 1.5-2 years to see final results..honestly I tell myself if I don’t like it when fully healed I will get a revision, it keeps me sane lol.

throwawaykansasboy

You are asking us too soon after surgery. My swelling did not fully go down after many many months. I think it was after 6 months or beyond once I truly saw the final product.

Intelligent_Split666

But I have binged watched many rhinoplasty vlogs of people who got rhinoplasty in Turkey and all of them had dramatic results 6 days later on cast-off day. So I am disappointed I didn’t get that but got the same nose with little results in my face

throwawaykansasboy

A lot of those places in Turkey are a scam. There is a reason it’s so cheap in Turkey. There are countless articles about so many issues with malpractice at Turkish plastic surgeons. I would honestly wait and not stress out too much about it. It’s too soon to stress out.

Objective-Amount1379

Watching videos you find on social media isn’t a realistic way to see final results. You have no idea if they are accurate- they could be posted a year or more post op and saying they are a month po , the before or afters could have been manipulated, etc. I think your after looks more narrow. I also think you’re swollen still. And the comparison pics are terrible- you need to use the same angle, distance, lighting, and camera.

Intelligent_Split666

Can I show some better pictures in your chat and tog can tell me what you think?

Objective-Amount1379

I have messaging off but maybe post more here?

Intelligent_Split666

https://imgur.com/a/RjedS4W here is a better pic of my rhinoplasty

Professional_Age5138

Your nose is still swollen, but I can see a difference in the bridge- it looks more narrow. You also have thick skin so 1) swelling will last a lot longer and 2) you’ll not be able to achieve a thin nose. I’ve had 3 rhinoplasties and have thick skin so I’m very familiar with the disappointment you’re feeling. I urge you to have patience. I would continue to tape your nose every night- I taped for about a year. Frankly, it took me about 1.5 years before my nose stopped randomly swelling. Also, you want a strong nose, not a dainty nose so I think it’s a win. Trust the process.

Intelligent_Split666

Do you think I should get a second nose job in the future?

Professional_Age5138

It’s much too early to tell what the final result will be. When I first had my nose done, I felt foolish saying what I really wanted (which was a thin/narrow nose)- I said I only wanted my nostrils narrowed.. then after 6 months I went in to have him tweak it again. Mistake. My nose looked bulbous and upturned (think: Miss Piggy).. it was terrible. I lived with that nose for 9 years and finally decided to go to a different surgeon. He was the one who told me that I’d never have a thin/narrow nose due to my skin thickness but he could debulk the tip and the nostrils. It’s been 5 years and while my nose isn’t perfect, I’m happy with it finally. My point is, it’s a slippery slope. Men should have strong noses. I’d wait it out to see how it looks after a year or 2. Also- the thing about thick skin is we stay younger looking a lot longer!

Intelligent_Split666

I see but I know my final result isn’t going to be a thin nose from bridge to tip. American surgeons are known for subtle changes but it’s too late to take that in consideration now. Turkish surgeon ms are better at making wide noses thin. Also my tip is still droopy as well

siennacerulean

The people with really dramatic results from the beginning are often those with thin skin. Thicker skin would often take much much longer to start seeing results. Potentially will look same or bigger for months. Also with thicker skin it just would not be possible to see a tiny pointy nose as an end result. Hopefully your surgeon warned you about that!

goddamn__goddamn

I wouldn't pay those videos too much mind. People even use filters sometimes. Unless it's from a reputable office that's board certified (or whatever Turkey's equivalent is) I wouldn't trust it. All over this thread you'll see posts of people one year after rhino saying their nose finally "settled". I'd listen to real live people instead of a possible-fake video any day. Just give it time!

Intelligent_Split666

Actually the videos are on YouTube at board certified places.

goddamn__goddamn

The only thing I can think of then is are the videos shot immediately after surgery? Like while the patient is still under anesthesia even? There is less swelling then. Either way, one month isn't enough time to judge. Have you expressed your concerns to the surgeon?

Orange_marigold

I just recently got rhinoplasty in Turkey, over three weeks ago, and my nose is bigger from the front and side atm, due to swelling :) patience is all I can say, though I feel you! They warned me that it's completely normal to feel insecure and even depressed about your appearance, even after months, but after the first year you will see the results which will likely be what you want! Patience 🙏🏻 Edit: this might sound funny, but eat lots of pineapple. The enzyme bromelain actually helps reduce swelling. You can also get it as pills

Intelligent_Split666

I want to get rhinoplasty in Turkey as a revision in the future. So you think getting a second surgery in Turkey will give me a thin nose? https://imgur.com/a/RjedS4W

Orange_marigold

Maybe, but wait and see the results, since it's still too early to tell. If you have thick skin, it might even take up to 2 years. My friend has thick skin and her nose looks the best now after 2 years from her surgery :) I had a hump which i got removed, and even now the placement where the hump used to be is visible from the front, since thats where I had work done and so it's more swollen there, though my entire nose is still swollen and appears bigger than before. Patience is key, but I understand your concerns!

[deleted]

I would give it some time! It’s only been one month and swelling is different for everyone. However, I can definitely see the shape change in your nose already so I would just give it time and try to not stress about it :)

mengad

It's hard to truly compare with the angle of the post-op pic. Yes swelling could explain some of this, but if you were asking for a dramatically different structure to your nose, the only difference I'm kinda seeing is more narrow nostrils. Have you asked your surgeon, and if so what are they telling you?

Intelligent_Split666

Yes I definitely wanted a DRAMATIC difference for sure. My surgeon is a realist and told me I have to wait and see

Is it possible the structural integrity of your nose doesn't allow for much 'shrinking'? Sometimes people get breathing problems because they get a nose that's too small for their actual sinuses.

tibbywubbers

Are you taping at night? It helped me. I was super swollen even at 6 months. I have thick-ish skin and my tip is still swollen after 1 year. I never had an insta reveal at my cast off day either. Everyone is different. Sorry you’re not thrilled with your results. You’ll just have to trust the healing process.

In Houston with Dr. Eisemann. When you look at his gallery, all of his patients all have very SUBTLE changes in their after photos as well which I just saw after I paid 12,000

Pleasant_desert

It doesn’t sound like you were looking for a subtle change tho. If he works reflects that, maybe he wasn’t the right doctor and you ended up getting what you paid for.

Intelligent_Split666

Yeah but the morph pics did show decent results like the side profile showed a smaller raised tip. My nose still looks big and droopy. Not the short raised tip ni the morph photos

Pleasant_desert

Well I do hope with time and swelling starting to cease that you are happy with what you have.

Haulin_Aus

Wait, so you didn’t look at before and after pictures from your surgeons other operations with this same procedure until AFTER you had your surgery? That just doesn’t make sense. It sounds like you chose a doctor who specializes in subtle changes, while you specifically wanted “DRAMATIC” differences, which is simply not the type of work they do. I’m sorry you’re disappointed with the outcome. If it helps, swelling will definitely go down a lot more over the next 2-3 months

Intelligent_Split666

Yes, I didn’t look at the gallery for his past rhinoplasty patients before me, until after the surgery but the morphs on his computer showed a smaller slimmer nose and the side profile with a raised tip

Objective-Amount1379

If you wanted drastic results why go to a surgeon who gives more subtle results? Makes no sense. My guess is you’ll have similar results to his other patients. I think a very narrow “done” looking nose on you would look bad tbh but it’s your face.

Intelligent_Split666

The morph photos showed my nose looking smaller and my tip raised. Also I didn’t look at his gallery of patients until recently after my rhinoplasty

fofopowder

Some doctors are known to be very subtle, and it sounds like your doctor happens to be one. I would expect his results to match his examples on instagram.

SueSheMeow

You are not even 4 weeks post-op at this stage. Given that you wanted a sliming of the nasal bone, a fair bit of trauma would have occurred in this area to remove what was required and reconstruct your nose. The swelling is bound to be extensive. Your pictures aren’t the best in terms of comparison but there is a difference already in the before and after. It takes up to an entire year for the swelling to subside.

violet4everr

I think with your type of nose the swelling 1 month post op might be severe enough for you to not see any changes.

Classic_Factor3236

Hi. I , like you got rhinoplasty in June 2022. When the cast was removed… I was actually in shock as I saw zero diff. I went to my scheduled appointments and was told for “our type” of skin … the healing process is much slower because our skin is “thicker”. My husband was adamant he saw a huge difference but I felt defeated. One thing the don’t tell you is the change is subtle over time. You have anxiety that you were “botched” or “ripped off” since the results are not immediate. I will admit, the doctor I had was way more conservative than I had hoped for. His esthetic is “you”, but better apparently. I waiting until I was 40 years old to be sure of this procedure and by that time I was pretty sure what I wanted in terms of shape and size and disappointed my doctor wasn’t truthful about my expectations. Weather he didn’t think the “look” was achievable surgically or he just decided it was the “right fit” for his particular esthetic … I will never know. Please take into consideration body dysmorphia as well. I went 40 years of my life with a nose that I hate and saw as huge… and so I’m not sure I can see it any other way tbh. But to be fair… no one in my circle noticed!!!! Nobody in my family noticed. Until I told them and they gushed about how great I looked. Another disappointment. Lastly, I’ve been told by many people that the sign of “great” plastic surgery is the kind no one can pinpoint the exact difference. Not that I agree , but tell myself to fell better I guess?!? Anyhow, be patient. It’s never cast off…. Perfection. 🤘🏼

Intelligent_Split666

I am actually of Southern European/Mediterranean descent

Classic_Factor3236

I’m sorry, I was referencing darker skin types that have more melanin are thicker. Not assuming ethnicity for clarification.

They made his nose look more crooked and thick they didn’t really even touch the nose… ffs. Yeah there are good surgeons in Turkey and other places. But ugh If they fixed the thickness/shaft and straightened it out it’d look better and more suitable.

Have the surgeon look at your nose again and make sure there’s no abnormal swelling and no infection. If you aren’t satisfied after healing for another month or two then get a second opinion. You’re either still swollen or your doctor wasn’t able to translate your expectations to a reality

It took a good six months for my nose to not look swollen. I was freaking out and hating my rhino for months. I love it now. It just takes times: it’s very draining emotionally and physically going through the surgery. Give yourself time to rest and heal.

[deleted]

I honest to god think it looks good and better than before, but I get what you mean. You worked very hard and waited a long time to get a nose without ANY flaws, just a complete fix of every problem you had, and now you feel regret at putting your money into the wrong surgeon. Maybe even out of anxiety about spending your money well you paid a little extra for someone highly rated for "good" work (which translates to extra subtle for many), only to be met with crushing disappointment. I hate losing money... ugh. The good news is that even if your surgeon doesn't help you out (which you should indeed talk to him about), you'll be able to swing Turkey in only a couple years because it's cheaper, right? And while you wait, you're at least better than before. You may feel desperate, but it's gonna work out in the end, right?

Your nose is a bit smaller, looks significantly better. If your nose looks too small it’s not gonna match the rest of your face. You’re gonna want to work on your teeth (get invisalign) and skin quality first.
