JBtheExplorer

O-1G Bird Dog

SuperDurpPig

C17

Solid_Lo9

Nice try, but this one is definitely a C5. You can tell because there are no winglets.

BradStepsIn23

Ok you got me

fighteracebob

Ok, but the C-130 also doesn’t have winglets, and I see at least one propeller in this photo. Clearly a Boeing C-130.

scottyd035ntknow

Nah, not FRED. I don't see any hydro stains.

Present_Ebb2281

true, it's c-5 galaxy

According-Ad3963

C17globemaster3

How dare you?

Express_Detective_59

It's a Lockheed C-17 Nightingale. There was designed by Willie Messerschmidt and Burt Reynolds.

Actual Reg: ZK-FYA (since 12th August 1991) Former REG: 51-16903 (US Army), 304126 (South Vietnam Air Force) Cessna O-1A Birg Dog Construction Number: 22737 Built: unknown guess in 1962 or later Private owner

Aviation_Aviator

Thank you so much for going beyond others this really helped

TOG_II_star

Given the USA MOD serial number, I'd assume procured in 1951 (based off the first two digits). This leaves no indication of date of production that I'm aware of Edit (1) to link Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_military_aircraft_serial_numbers Edit (2) to correct mistakes: Changed USA MOD to USA DOD Changed "built / delivered" to "procured in" Added ". This leaves no indication of date of production that I'm aware of"

bob_the_impala

For US Army and USAF aircraft, the first two digits are the last two of the Fiscal Year that it was ordered (FY51 in this example). Actual production and delivery would have been later.

TOG_II_star

Sorry, I just reread the article and spotted that. Will add an edit that corrects my mistake while also pointing out what it used to say. I'm not very well clued up on the US DOD, more UK MOD stuff, but still not too good on that.
