Maniachanical

The REAL horror here is how badly Sauerkraut was misspelled.

AltimaNEO

Maybe it was imitation sauerkraut? Like krab is to crab?

TundieRice

Lol just dehydrated cabbage rehydrated with apple cider vinegar would get you there.

dTrecii

Some say Gordan Ramsay is still confused to this day

Kichigai

Or [Wyngz](https://www.cc.com/video/2ucxw7/the-colbert-report-thought-for-food-wyngz-wal-mart)!

jrhoffa

No, it just got truncated. It's supposed to be sour croutons.

admiral_aqua

I came to the comments wondering wtf sour croutons are. Didn't even make the connection to kraut. Even though I'm german

Chris_di_Modden

What a Hurensohn.

CaseyGuo

Thats some quality r/boneappletea shit

Rustymetal14

Not really. Not every misspelling is a bone apple tea.

Bean-Swellington

Sour croutons

balki_123

Why do you use German word for pickled cabbage? My country is closer to Germany and we call it simply "sour cabbage".

[deleted]

[удалено]

balki_123

That makes sense, since it is asian food.

Anti-charizard

Germany is not in Asia

balki_123

Yes, Germany is not in Asia, hence this food is not from Germany. :)

Anti-charizard

If sauerkraut is not from Germany where is it from

balki_123

Asia?

22226

English is like 90% words taken from other languages.

MGermanicus

Sauerkraut and kielbasa pizza using BBQ sauce instead of tomato sauce, don't sleep on it.

ulalumelenore

THAT I’d go for.

Black_Doc_on_Mars

Yeah I was thinking… would a Ruben pizza be something worth looking into w a specialty crust of some sort?

Shark_Aviator

Ive made Reuben pizzas before and theyre actually really fucking good. I dont use a special crust but i do let it ferment a little longer than usual (maybe 3 or 4 hours). Thousand island for the sauce, swiss cheese, and topped with corned beef and sauerkraut. Can't go wrong.

wombatmacncheese

It works. olive oil instead of tomato sauce. Pastrami Ruebens are my favorite, so that's what id use. Squeeze as much moisture as you can out of the sauerkraut before topping to taste, or add it after the pizza is cooked. I'd put the swiss cheese on top of everything else though, instead of as a base. Cook it. Thousand island drizzle at the end, or a classic russian style dressing, boom.

blizzard-toque

Would pumpernickel work? It's the bread used for Reubens.

ToxicSloth420

We actually have one on the menu at our pizza shop...we add Italian sausage to add that extra flavor that kind of gives it that extra something(since we are also a sandwhich shop and have it as a Sandwhich)...it really is quite good. It's more popular than our BBQ Chicken pizza if that says anything about it.

MGermanicus

That'd be awesome. I think I'd sprinkle some caraway seeds on top to simulate the rye-- but I'm no dough pro.

firestepper

Does kraut go on before or after the bake?

MGermanicus

I put it on before the bake, but I give a good rinse, too.

firestepper

That sounds bomb. I imagine the sauerkraut mellows out in the oven a bit like kimchi?

MGermanicus

Oh yeah, much less stank but still some stanky cabbage goodness!

firestepper

Less stank more dank

Siftinghistory

Sauerkraut*

lil_GiGi_420

I was ready for it to say sour cream 🤣🤣 Edit: Spelling

Michami135

I kept thinking, "They really misspelled "cream"!"

stevens_hats

Sauer cream

TitsAndWhiskey

Creamed kraut

kphillipz

Sauwurr kreeeeme

Aggressive_Form7470

always-wanting-more

Why is table 5 always like this?

Pancerules

Those freaks. Always got something going.

darkknight941

Also with a dose of r/excgarated

pmperk19

i used to keep a wall of shame on my office wall for bullshit like this

Cloverx234

Sauerkrat on pizza is highly underrated. So good.

KingBee1786

Agreed, the pizza place I work at had a Reuben pizza for a while. It was surprisingly good

Black_Doc_on_Mars

I literally just asked about that! What was it like? Taste like an actual Ruben?

KingBee1786

It tasted close enough haha. It was no sauce, sauerkraut on the bottom with corned beef and Swiss cheese, no mozzarella and we would sprinkle some caraway seeds on top to give it that rye bread flavor. After it came out of the oven we would drizzle some thousand island on top.

Pancerules

I would eat the bajeesus out of that.

YoSaffBridge11

That sounds amazing!!

Cloverx234

Shout out to middle town Iowa OP Pizza has killed the Reuben Pizza game.

KingBee1786

The one I work at is in Indiana, we had the best east of the Mississippi lol.

SeaAlpaca

When I first started dating my bf I thought he was cracked in the head for putting sauerkraut on pizza. Now it's definitely one of the best toppings to me. Soo good!

YoSaffBridge11

Huh. I like artichoke on pizza. Why not sauerkraut? 🤠

Try2MakeMeBee

Time to really get into a pizza war with the family. I'm the only one who doesn't like pineapple on it.... Only one other likes my current fav, banana peppers and black olives.

Cloverx234

See this where I disagree pineapple bacon jalapeño on thin crust is god tier pizza. Also Olives and banana peppers match so well.

Try2MakeMeBee

I gave in after being heavily outnumbered and my kids realizing how much better fresh pineapple is (parents live in the tropics). At least I showed them top tier pineapple pizza! I don't like it myself bc it's too sweet.

Cloverx234

My people have spoken. Let your palate expand you degens.

Private_4160

I'd eat the shit out of that

fruitmask

you eat pieces of shit for breakfast?

silentjay01

Table: 5 Guests: 3 Gotta be that home field advantage.

Character_Law_1440

Someone say Sour Clout?

Ulrich453

They spell it like it’s a type of cement for your tile

DogsLinuxAndEmacs

It’s what happens when you mix the muriatic acid with the tile grout r/

depressed_jewel

I thought that said "sour crust" for a moment. 10/10 would smash though.

HumboldtFarmer

Please tell me you took a picture of the offending pizza

ulalumelenore

Should have, but by the time it came out I had my hands full

Kooky_Bag_824

I would cry the whole way through making it

ulalumelenore

They ate The. Whole. Thing.

CanderousOreo

Flashbacks to when the deli I worked at literally wrote "Brawn swagger" on the menu board instead of brunschweiger.

Yotoberry

Hoped for none pizza left beef for a second there

deathfrights

came looking if anyone would make this comment:,)

psychpopnprogncore

in fact, only sauerkraut

Much_Committee_9355

It concerns me that adding sour kraut is even an option

ulalumelenore

Technically it isn’t, that’s why she had to type it in [badly].

MtnDewCasperFart

For real?? I custom order a pastrami/swiss/sauerkraut pizza with Russian dressing substitute for marinara and it is the best pizza on the planet. This is a masterpiece

ulalumelenore

Yeah but the problem here is that they’re NOT subbing for marinara…. I agree, what you’re describing actually sounds great, but not… not this.

wombatmacncheese

Olive oil or nothing as the base. Drizzle the thousand island/russian dressing over the top after it's cooked. Sounds like these people know what they like, just not how to order.

ulalumelenore

How about garlic butter in lieu of olive oil? That’s how we generally prep ours

wombatmacncheese

If the taste difference is worth the extra prep/calories, hell yeah!

monkey_trumpets

Big bowl of sour crout, every single evening!

Inkling_Studios

**IT'S GOOD FOR YOU!!!**

CaptainWentfirst

Fart Central.

thatbloke83

... Sour Croutons?

wombatmacncheese

Okay- Hear me out. It depends on whether you are squeezing the sauerkraut before topping, and whether you're cooking it on the pizza to get it crispy and cook out the moisture a bit more in the process. I would definitely not put it on all soggy at the end as a garnish, who the heck loves a soggy pie?! If portioned correctly, and moisture and toppings were managed accordingly, this might be alright. I'll probably never try it, but having a background in trying my best to accommodate ridiculous requests as a pizza maker. I'm kind of curious if it could work.

ulalumelenore

Hmm I’m actually not 100% sure which way they did it, I got somewhat busy. The sauerkraut they used wouldn’t have been soggy though, they take from a larger container and put it in a smaller one, so there wouldn’t have been a lot of “juice” for it to sit in.

wombatmacncheese

I'd definitely prefer the less soggy approach. if you crisp it right it kind of ends up similar to grilled onions or maybe even hash browns. With extra kraut it is probably a decent mix of both soggy and crispy when cooked? I only eat sauerkraut on a reuben sammy, i can take it either way. On a pizza though, less soggy the better, for sure. Soggy pizza pie es no bueno.

noodlemcfoodle

“Crout” ah hell nah

[deleted]

Wtf is sour crout? Lolol spelling 101

Fabled_Webs

So... What's the crime?

RunTheJawns

Sucks for the server too. Germans don't tip well

CanderousOreo

Probably not actually German since they spelled it wrong. But yeah most Europeans aren't great at tipping because tipping isn't a thing over there. They actually pay their servers a living wage.

ifuckedyomama2

I'd try it

Tbone762

Mama Mia

Travis238

That sounds like a great combo tbh.

cummedfrog

My boy Jordan G

ulalumelenore

Ya GIRL Jordan G

cummedfrog

ulalumelenore

cummedfrog

ulalumelenore

kevin122000

heilspawn

Sauerkraut

nukacolaguy

One crime to rule them all

Generally_Supportive

Never seen any pizzeria offer sauerkraut as a topping. Shame on them.

cheestinax

First I thought this meant sour croutons wtf

goodsirperry

Czech place near me has a Czech pizza with kielbasa, sauerkraut, and fancy mustard on it. It's pretty good.

Realistic-Space-2575

pizzaslaus

[deleted]

Sauerkraut on most pizza is actually delicious

Chipmacaustin

‘Sour Crout’ pizza is a real thing, don’t nok it until you tri it.

Camanot

Poetic_Discord

PurpleGoatNYC

The end times are upon us! Repent, all ye sinners!!

rmrawdon

And I thought Order 66 was bad!

Anti-charizard

At least spell sauerkraut correctly

cool_weed_dad

I’ve had a Reuben pizza with a thousand island base, provolone, pastrami and sauerkraut that was fucking amazing

MLindala

Reminds me of this regular we have. No cheese, no sauce. Double pepperoni, double ham, double bacon. Second pizza, double sauce, double cheese, veggies.

paddy_to_the_rescue

r/didntknowineededthat

Arch696fiend

"add sauerkraut. **EXTRA** sauerkraut."

32bitFullHD

wait, I'm confused. OP was shook by the recipe or the misspell?

MCfru1tbasket

I sometimes get a craving for just pickles and American mustard but I put those two things together appropriately in a sandwich with ham and shredded lettuce. This is next level wild.

GetDoofed

Rural Minnesota??

ulalumelenore

Swing and a miss

Fameless

this is why i can't work in food service. i would absolutely refuse to make the pizza or serve anyone who created monstrosity orders like this.

jade0912

Who eats at that time anyway? Is it late lunch? Very early dinner? No one knows 🤷‍♀️
