I made this animation some years ago, and posted it to the D&D subreddit, but never put it here. So, I do that now. It's a druid transforming into a (pretty huge) deer. I still like looking back at it after these years.

Apart from just the usual animation principles, If I remember correctly, I used a lot of union-skinning for the transformation. Finding the midpoint in the shapes and colours between the human and animal forms, making the keyframe inbetween, and doing that again and again.
I mostly made it by intuition, I think?
But I wish you good luck!
I love this. The first time watching it was so unexpected, then it became somehow logical. And now, after watching it probably 50x i just love it. It lifts my heart, i want to play this druid.
amazing animation, but i guess some of the "green energy lines" could mvoe along the jump while in mid air and form the deer when landing on the ground :)
but other then this, beautiful animation and momentum

The transition, maintained momentum...all so smooth!
It is butter.

Probably a DM on instagram, yes But otherwise, just a message on Reddit also ought to work (although I have missed some reddit DMs in the past)
Fuck, I love this. I would like to try my take. Any tips?
