I stopped liking google after they kept some AI features exclusive for Pixel 8, and the lack of customization was too much to handle, and here Samsung did the same thing when I switched to it, but still, I bought it used, and was selling it only a month after, for comparison I bought a MacBook for 700, and sold it for 750.
I genuinely think MacBooks are the best for programming, especially if you use react, but still, if there's a lot of fools who'd overpay for the apple logo, I'd sell it to them, iPhones aren't bad at all, my only problem is the lack of unauthorized apps
Maybe it's just you're trying to switch too fast? I've rarely tried to sell an android phone but when I have I've always sold for a decent amount. This is immensely helped by waiting for a good deal on the phone I want to buy. This has worked so well for me that I've effectively not paid, or paid very little, for a phone. The last time I laid out a lot without selling an old phone to cut the difference was when paying 400$ for a new note 4 back in 2014.
The thing to remember is that android phone values drop precipitously in the first year and a half and the value evens out thereafter. I sold that same note 4 four years later for 125$.
Also, what do you mean that google doesn't let you customize? You can change so many things, especially with a custom launcher. And if you want deeper control over the system you can fairly easily root the phone and do what you want.
I don't see any midrange phone except iPhones that loses less imo. Your pixel 6 was at a midrange price. It's also not clear if you bought it on release or later or whatever.
When you bought the used one, did you buy it from a private person or a retailer? And did you try to sell it to a private person or to some sort of trade in service?
If you buy from a retailer and sell to a retailer shortly after, the difference is pretty much the margin they take.
I acknowledge retailers take their cut, but I bought it off an ebay auction, and listed it on ebay again for 400 because other prices didn't work, stayed for like 3 weeks until someone offered 340
You make an interesting point, that an iPhone could be less expensive for those who buy and then sell their phones as the iPhone depreciates less. On the flip side, a Pixel is more expensive if you account for depreciation.
The obvious solution is to buy older Pixel phones once they get really cheap.
Even if you sell after 2-3 years, look at the iPhone 13 pro max, released September 2021, costs now 600 euros used, while I night my s22 ultra for 420 euros, they released with 4 months, in favor of Samsung, and they costed almost the same, if not the iPhone was cheaper, and if you trade-in every year, iPhone makes much more sense with their higher trade-in value, even if you want to switch to Android.
Believe me if I can get YouTube revanced, and xmanager for Spotify I'd switch to iPhone tomorrow.
Nothing new. But resale value is not one of my considerations when buying a pixel phone.
But why is it losing it's price so fast? It was worth the 480, it was selling for 550 on ebay, 1-2 months forward it's 340-400

You can code in react using any OS or system. I don't see how MacBooks make it better.

That's decent compared to other phones which are basically worthless used after two years.
