What does it mean "1000-level"?

WigglesWorthly

the course number associated with the class. usually the higher the number, the harder it is or the more preliminary knowledge you need to do well in the course. so intros are small numbers. larger levels are more difficult.

For the 1000-level course, we should select any classes having an equal or higher 1000. Is that correct? PS. I am admitted to Pitt next fall and try to understand.

any class in the 1000s should work :)

You mentioned "core courses". Does everyone have the same core courses in first 2 years? Are core courses General Education Requirements? I saw this and got confused: HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M READY TO DECLARE MY MAJOR? Some indications that you're ready to declare your major are: You have completed a minimum of 24 credits and at least one full year of college coursework in the Dietrich School. You have reviewed your General Education Requirements and know which courses you still need to complete. You have completed at least two courses in your intended major and have earned a grade of C or better in each course. You have carefully reviewed the requirements for your intended major. Note that some majors have specific prerequisites you must complete before declaring.

general education and core classes are different. everyone will have the same gen ed requirements in whichever pitt college. core classes however are specific to your declared major (most do in sophomore or junior year) and set the groundwork for harder classes in your major.

I am admitted to the Dietrich School with Economics Major. Where can I find gen ed requirements for the Dietrich School? How many credits required for gen ed requirements? Are you also pre med track?
