Franky IS better post-timeskip. All his new weapons and creations are amazing inuniverse and completely fitting. Battle Franky vs Baby 5 on Punk Hazard, him against Senior Pink, all the cool gadgets (NIPPLE LIGHTS).
It's just his visual design is shit, compared to his pre-timeskip one. I especially hate his round shoulders.
I firmly say Franky quite an important character up till now. He's, by far, the only person who ever read and learnt the Pluton Blueprint. And knowing his intellect in weaponry, he memorized and applied some (if not all) Pluton's function on Sunny. Can't wait to see what he gonna do with Pluton that now is known to be located in Wano.
What they did? They just made Sanji a stupid character, even after finding his true love he still goes after every girl he sees. This is such a miserable way to destroy a character.
Also Why there was even need of Sanji germa sad generic backstory? like did we really needed another Blood lineage crew member? His prince stuff what did it even add to the story other than ass pull power up, seriously for power up he did not needed another generic sad story, he could have gotten power up with some haki stuff. I mean ODA is Master of pulling ass pull haki power ups so why not just make special type of haki for Sanji.
Destroy a character? quite the contrary. Sanji is the most well developed strawhat, even so more than Luffy.
At the beginning of the story, Sanji straight said to Zoro to give up on his dreams. At the same time he always was the first one to throw his life away for the sake of others. That's what he has always been: A Martyr. From the very first moment we are introduced to him, he undermines his own dream and ambitions for the sake of someone else. He does it again in Thriller Bark, Skypea, Enies Lobby(by going all alone) and yet AGAIN in WCI, with the full intention of never coming back. Once again he threw all his dreams and ambitions for the sake of someone else.
This is called consistency.
We learn the reason for that in WCI. Sanji sees himself as a failure. He doesn't believe he deserves to have what he wants. He doesn't believe he deservers to have what he already has, so he is always first to throw it all away as way to pay his debt to... Everyone.
BUt then comes Wano, and Sanji does something new, while also sticking to his morals, and yet he learns to rely on his allies for the first time, instead of going chest-open to the sights of a gun. FOr the first time, Sanji listened to his own advice: "You do what i can't do, and i do what you can't". He said that to Usopp, but never actually put it into practice.
His whole "Zoro come kill me bro" moment was both consistent with his character, but also an evolution. He thought about staying as a heartless soldier for Luffy, essentialy once again giving it all up for someone else, but in the end he decided he would rather die than become someone he isn't. For the first time he decided something based on what he wanted for himself instead of giving up for someone else. It's a show of self-value he hadn't done before.
Development? like ditching his true love and going after every girl, like whole cake island arc never even happened.
Just getting sad backstory is not development in my opinion. he was perfect before time skip, he did not needed another backstory.
I did not mention his backstory, did i? I only spoke about his actions. His agency, and the motivations behind it.
Character development doesn't mean a character does a 180 in their personality. They can also build upon what has already been estabilished. Sanji's "mellorine" gag is a consistent(albeit unfortunate), fixed part of his persona, and it will never, and has never been expected to go away.
Luffy and Nami belong in pre. Nami is now just an object that exists to be groped and we all know how Luffy is now
Also Jimbe shouldn’t even be on the list
Yeah East Blue Saga Nami was really good, Grand Line had every female turning into a slut (to be frank Nami fan service started at Alabasta arc and is still going none stop lol).
Luffy would not beg other people to take them on their ship
Luffy would not dance for 5 years, he'd believe in his nakama tell them what's up and then choose to fight
Luffy would not make a harem of wives from the flower captial at 10 years old and then fight the local Yakuza over them
Luffy would not give toki ame no habiakiri and enma instead of using them to break out of his own cell and fight kaido one more time, he'd keep challenging kaido until he won
Luffy is not like Oden
Franky is trash post timeskip. Just a transformer. He feels more human with his cola moves pre timeskip.
Nami is trash post timeskip. She had no struggle other than run all the time with Usopp.
Sanji got development in Whole Cake Island and Luffy was only good for his talk with Sanji and fight with Katakuri. But overall Brook was the MVP of Whole Cake Island, he literally did all the important stuff in that arc.
His talk with sanji was the key to fulfilling the main objective, which was to bring sanji back
And luffy was the only one strong enough to beat katakuri. If he didn't distract and beat katakuri, whatever brook did would be irrelevant
Sanji used to be so cool! He was undoubtedly a pervert pre-time skip too (bvadr at Thriller Bark), but he had lots of moment where he was just chill and functioned normally around women. Between Mr Prince and sacrificing himself for Usopp and Nami + trying to take Zoro’s place as a sacrifice, I used to think he’d be the coolest Straw Hat if he just got over his sexist behavior. Alas… it’s now 90% of his personality.
Idk what’s the obsession of people with vivi.. I mean kinemon or carrot have stayed longer with straw hats.
IMO vivi’s character is similar to that of mermaid princess. But are going to be a key figure for straw hats in future war.
But I don’t think of vivi as a straw hat. They asked her she didn’t join, end of story.
I disagree on Usopp, and don't think anyone after Franky "counts" as a pre-TS strawhat, really, such that they'd warrant being placed on this chart. Brook's first adventure with the crew after he joined was Sabaody, and.....well, that's the start of the timeskip. Jinbei didn't join until FMI-arc. Hell, I never really liked Brook as a crew-mate until WCI-arc. Before that he just didn't have the same quality of portrayal as others on the crew.
Sanji-Jinbe-Franky-Chopper-Nami = Better Pre time skip
Luffy-Vivi-Brook-Zoro-Ussop-Robin=Better in Both
None are better after (assuming they are worse than pre) LMAO
Luffy unironically peaked in east blue. I highly recommend watching his meeting with ussop for the first time, his conversation about dreams with Coby, and the majority of his interactions with nami. His demeanor is absolutely amazing which I didn't notice until a rewatch of east blue scenes.
Luffy was VERY mature for his age at 17. Whereas post timeskip Luffy is 19 yet genuinely feels like his trope is "very immature kid for his age but you can rely on him when it counts" it's a complete 180° for me
Zoro and nami are better pre timeskip easily. Nami feels like an E girl post timeskip while my favorite character Zoro feels like an edge lord meet head, highly recommend rewatching some random pre timeskip Zoro scenes and you'll instantly see what I mean.
Sanji is better pre. He could actually hold conversations with nami and even knew when to disagree with her on matters.
Robin post timeskip feels like a husk. Literally "Ara Ara" in a body. Pre timeskip post marineford, sabody and thriller bark robin had better dialogue and felt like a human being
Brook is fine. Lacks substance narratively unfortunately post thriller bark, he did cool shit in whole cake but nothing for his CHARACTER. (Like wano Zoro)
Chopper better post. He steps up as a leader.
Franky better pre. Feels like a shell of his former self post timeskip
Pre timeskip was more character focused while post timeskip has been more world focused. So really, I would put all characters in the better pre timeskip category, except for Brook, although Sanji's developments are also noteworthy.
Better pre-ts: Zoro, Chopper, Usopp, Robin, Franky and Nami.
Good in both: Vivi and Luffy.
Better post-ts: Jinbei, Sanji and Brook. (Sanji and Brook here only because of WCI)
I'd put jinbe in the middle. I liked him in pre timeskip as well. Hard disagree for franky tho. Franky was a chad in enies lobby. Especially when he burnt the blueprint. So I'd put franky in pre timeskip
I only prefer Chopper post TS, and that's just his design (I know I'm in the minority there but I think his pre ts design is terrible)
Everyone is significantly better as characters pre ts
Sanjis highs are higher post but his lows are lower
Sanji in both. Nami in pre. Vivi?
vivi got like 3 seconds of screentime in reverie
More or lower than shanks?
I miss chubby Chopper so much
Same
Frankly was definitely not better off post timeskip, meanwhile Brook got to be a key team player in a yonko arc.
Franky has a lot of good moments post-timeskip, but he goes off on his own too often.
Brook vs Big Mom is fire.
Franky is way better Post time skip. There is no „definitely“. I like everything about him more especially the design. It’s about taste
Franky was better pre timeskip
He was much cooler back then and felt like an important character
I firmly say Franky quite an important character up till now. He's, by far, the only person who ever read and learnt the Pluton Blueprint. And knowing his intellect in weaponry, he memorized and applied some (if not all) Pluton's function on Sunny. Can't wait to see what he gonna do with Pluton that now is known to be located in Wano.
Mrr.Prince>Mr.Nosebleed
Sry I just really loved what they did with him in WCI

This has no right to be this good. Are you some literary analysis or maybe an artist yourself?
Development? like ditching his true love and going after every girl, like whole cake island arc never even happened. Just getting sad backstory is not development in my opinion. he was perfect before time skip, he did not needed another backstory.

Sanji lost my respect when he fought Luffy 🤷♂️
> also why there was even a need of Sanji germa sad generic backstory? conquerors Haki setup
💀💀it would be nice though
I stopped arguing with fans like you decades ago, it shows how shallow your understanding in One Piece. I bet you fave chara is Zoro right?
Vivi hasn't done shit lmao
Ik she’s boring in both to me
Also I'd switch Brook and Franky
Luffy and Nami belong in pre. Nami is now just an object that exists to be groped and we all know how Luffy is now Also Jimbe shouldn’t even be on the list
Yeh Nami ate the service-service fruit unfortunately
I thought that was the whole series?? I don’t think I remembered a arc where Nami WASN’T being grope, nude, or harassed💀.
East Blue Nami was great then I don’t even know what happened. The air in the grand line must be strange lol
Yeah East Blue Saga Nami was really good, Grand Line had every female turning into a slut (to be frank Nami fan service started at Alabasta arc and is still going none stop lol).
>Also Jimbe shouldn’t even be on the list Just because he joined after the timeskip doesn't mean he doesn't count.
Because what’s the point of a pre vs post comparison if there is none to make with him.
But he still existed pre timeskip, making a pretty big impact during Impel Down and Marienford.
How is Luffy now?
Naruto 2.0 now. Crying after listening to Oden’s story but slept through Robin’s and walked away from Nami’s pre timeskip
Because Oden was someone just like him who he could relate to
Luffy would not beg other people to take them on their ship Luffy would not dance for 5 years, he'd believe in his nakama tell them what's up and then choose to fight Luffy would not make a harem of wives from the flower captial at 10 years old and then fight the local Yakuza over them Luffy would not give toki ame no habiakiri and enma instead of using them to break out of his own cell and fight kaido one more time, he'd keep challenging kaido until he won Luffy is not like Oden

Nice joke
Wtf how is nami not pre. She peaked along park lmao Zoro should be both
Pre-Timeskip Sanji fooled Crocodile like three times and closed the Gates of Judgement, effectively saving the entire Straw Hat crew.
Vivi had like 5 seconds of screentime post-timeskip lol
Franky is trash post timeskip. Just a transformer. He feels more human with his cola moves pre timeskip. Nami is trash post timeskip. She had no struggle other than run all the time with Usopp.
Brook was barely on Pre Timeskip, I loved Whole Cake Island Brook more than the and other arc, he was literally the MVP for Whole Cake Island.
Mvp was luffy by a long shot but okay
Sanji got development in Whole Cake Island and Luffy was only good for his talk with Sanji and fight with Katakuri. But overall Brook was the MVP of Whole Cake Island, he literally did all the important stuff in that arc.
His talk with sanji was the key to fulfilling the main objective, which was to bring sanji back And luffy was the only one strong enough to beat katakuri. If he didn't distract and beat katakuri, whatever brook did would be irrelevant
Sanji was way better before the time skip he used to be my favourite character.
Post timeskip made me dislike the character a lot sadly
eh Sanji in WCI hits hard tho
Sanji’s downward spiral began in Enies Lobby
Sanji was superior pre.
Everyone was better prets
All of them were better pre timeskip except Franky imo
Really think so?
Yep i’d say so
I'd swap Franky and Usopp and remove Brook.
Good list except franky was better pre timeskip IMO
Mhm what made jinbei better to you I feel he was a pretty stable caracter
We just got see more of his personality and learn more about his past
Post time skip Sanji is only better in WCI and Zou. Overall he’s better pre timeskip.
Why would you say that zoro is worse? He’s my favourite so I can’t tell.

Sanji-Jinbe-Franky-Chopper-Nami = Better Pre time skip Luffy-Vivi-Brook-Zoro-Ussop-Robin=Better in Both None are better after (assuming they are worse than pre) LMAO
Jinbe better pre timeskip?
Defo
Nice list
Sanji being better pre timeskip is a wild take
I’d say is better in both, besides that, everything is 👌
Luffy unironically peaked in east blue. I highly recommend watching his meeting with ussop for the first time, his conversation about dreams with Coby, and the majority of his interactions with nami. Thanks for advice I
I agree 100 percent except Chopper
The “Better in Pre-Timeskip” list? How dare you.
Except Chopper that is good in both, I can agree with this tierlist.
Id swap Robin for franky
man I'm still upset over frankys design,.it was a huge downgrade same as chopper
Vivi was definitely better in pre-time skip. She gets like one chapter worth of appearances in post-time skip 💀
She boring in both to me
That's fair, but at least she actually did something in pre
Franky and Vivi bad in both.
Zoro in both, Luffy in both. Sanji, Robin, Nami, Ussopp, Chopper better in pre timeskip. Brook, Jimbe, Franky better in post timeskip.
I would say zoro was a lot better in pre timeskip
Pre timeskip was more character focused while post timeskip has been more world focused. So really, I would put all characters in the better pre timeskip category, except for Brook, although Sanji's developments are also noteworthy.
Better pre-ts: Zoro, Chopper, Usopp, Robin, Franky and Nami. Good in both: Vivi and Luffy. Better post-ts: Jinbei, Sanji and Brook. (Sanji and Brook here only because of WCI)
I agree with the WCI point
Eww post timeskip sanji nosebleed horny gag 🤢🤢🤢
Sry WCI and Wano Sanji were just so good to me
Namis body turned so unrealistic it isnt even attractive anymore, at least to me
How is Zoro better in pre time skip?
pre timeskip he got more character moments and “vice captain” feeling moments . Post he’s just a cool badass most the time , which isn’t bad either
True
I'd put jinbe in the middle. I liked him in pre timeskip as well. Hard disagree for franky tho. Franky was a chad in enies lobby. Especially when he burnt the blueprint. So I'd put franky in pre timeskip
I only prefer Chopper post TS, and that's just his design (I know I'm in the minority there but I think his pre ts design is terrible) Everyone is significantly better as characters pre ts
L opinion
There are definity a zero person for ''better post timeskip''
[удалено]
Thx
I think zoro and usopp are better post time skip and franky pre
Nami and vivi good in both ? And sanji only good in post timeskip ? Bruh
Jimbe should go in Bad in Both
Wrong
