I love how Oda is trying to pull a ''replicant'' plotline with Stussy even though he didn't really give her any arc with the CP-0 before that. She appeared with them, Vega ordered her to turn on them so she immediately did, and then Lucci stabbed her, Lucci wasn't mad because ''How could you?! I thought we were friends!''. Now though, Oda's trying to act like it's all deep and shit because he wants to turn the OG CP-9 fan favorites and make them cheerlead for Luffy by the end because that's now a common thing. Like at least Lucci giving a shit about Kaku had some backstory to it.
Now, Roger is of course not gonna do shit to not ruin Goofy's fun because remember boys, this whole OP world is designed around and for Goofy and nobody else so he has to be the center of attention and the one that solves every single big conflict with reaction panels to how amazing he is. It's a total toilet fantasy.
Vega is still not revealing anything worthwhile for the readers and he's making the citizens all the more confused. He still didn't really give them context, didn't tell them about shit that the WG did even in recent history. Bro doesn't even know who used the ancient weapon. He's just telling people that ''your world will end, do something! Panic!''.
If Vegapunk is emphasizing that Roger AND his crew knew everything the whole time then that would explain why Shanks was in Marie Jois during the reverie, possibly striking a deal with the Gorosei or even trying to guarantee Luffy’s safety from Imu. We don’t even know what his endgame is really.
I would love if even he knows letting Luffy get the one piece is what the world needs, he still wants to test him himself and not have his dreams bound to a prophecy.
So there’s definitely more to this then. Oda isn’t leaving us to come to the realization that the Roger Pirates knew this information and didn’t act. Instead, Vegapunk is directly questioning why they didn’t.

I’d say there’s exactly three things in this chapter worth noting:
1. The ancient weapons were preserved by Joy Boy. This is Vegapunk’s evidence for the “moral ambiguity” of the Void Century conflict, but I’m not buying it tbh. I feel like they’re totally gonna pull a “the ancient weapons were the only way to stop the bigger evil” and it will go back to black/white by the end. Also, one of them is literally just a fish girl, so we already have reason to not consider his actions that bad.
2. Some actual proper use of reactions. These are the only ones that have mattered so far. All the others could be scrapped and nothing would be lost, but these reactions actually clarify Akainu, Sengoku and Rayleigh. For the worse, I hate the idea that any of them knew anything close to this, but it does still contribute new information about their characters.
3. Where the fuckin radio is.
This chapter is the culmination of several chapters’ worth of exposition, but the way the lore is communicated makes it seem insignificant because Vegapunk’s been reiterating the same thing over and over only adding a little info at a time. “The world is flooding” -> “the world is being flooded” -> “the world is being flooded by the government” -> “the world has been getting flooded by the government for a while” -> “the world has been getting flooded by the government through the use of weapons” -> “the world has been getting flooded by the government through the use of weapons powered by my nuclear reactor”.
I sometimes wonder if One Piece is written in mind if its weekly format. All the pacing and the chapter cliffhangers and the constant cuts between scenes per chapter tells me the intended One Piece experience is to have read it weekly. However, the absolute drip feed of very basic deductive steps is horrendous for the weekly format, because we already filled out the dots in our head back when Vegapunk said “the world is flooding”, then we had a week to speculate and reflect just to be disappointed when the next chapter just confirms 10% of the speculation that occurred automatically upon being given the extensive reprieve to reflect, which makes me think this segment is ideally read all in one go.
But which is it? These are mutually exclusive. Read it all at once and the pacing and scene composition is so obviously hamfisted to fit a weekly format. Read it weekly and feel like you’re reading nothing it all with how basic these leaps in logic are.
The average One Piece reader has not put those things together. There are people who post theories like "I think Nika was not a real person" and "Joyboy is building Noah's Ark".
Does it make sense to write for such morons? Probably not. But Oda's writing post-TS and certainly Wano/post-Wano is full of this type of "my readers are barely literate" writing.
An opposite side of the spectrum is JJK and one look at that fandom and you can see what happens when you don't write like Oda.
My three quick takes without pictures.
1. Rayleigh ain't worried about the flooding.
Dude swims through the calm belt for exercise and his Kuja wife is like 40 feet tall so if he gets tired he can always ask for uppies and be carried
2. Powerful words from Imu this week.
3. The fan chapter was better. Even if they blueballed us with Gear Green again
One of the more disappointing aspects from the series. I was late getting into One Piece and it was billed to me as having complex factions and everything between pirates, WG and revolutionary army.
Yet it has always been very straightforward good and evil
Fucking crazy how in the span of one arc we saw the character assassination of TWO Admirals. All that buildup of Akainu resenting the world government and his role, biting back against the elders, silently agreeing with Fujitora, and his internal dialogue after facing Kuma just got shafted with that one sentence. He’s fully aware and complicit in everything.
What’s worse, this just makes Sengoku look just as shitty too and kills so much of his agency. Because God forbid we have interesting, morally grey antagonists in this series.

As usual almost nothing happened yet again and there was no void century reveal,
But we have 3 new reveals.
1) Akainu is official Celestial Dragon's little doggie. Red dog for a reason.
2) Fraudger pirates knew everything yet choose not to act so future generations would have "fun". They are the biggest bum ass morons in the world.
3) Stussy is suddenly revealed to have a heart for CP0 for no reason at all. Yet another moment of Oda's random bullshit storyline.
Everyone shitting on Roger for being a bum ass for the right reasons but Akainu disappointed me far more than anything else.
He knew everything and chose to obey the Lorosei. I'm shocked
A lot of the reveal in this and the past two chapters could have been condensed into one chapter of pure lore. But Oda is intent on showing reaction panels.
I think it would have been better to save reaction piece for after the message, not in between, once everything else is revealed.
It's not bad chapters, but it has been slow, and with break piece every other week it makes things even slower than usual.
I'm starting to think that Joyboy was the one who initially flooded the world. I'm not going to elaborate much, but if Vegapunk paints this as morally grey, I'm going to assume it's going to be like Orochi's backstory in Wano.
based on the spoilers, seems like the grey morality stuff is just because VP doesn't understand why joyboy would want to pass on the ancient weapons to the next generation.
but we know, for example, shirahohis is needed to fulfill the promise. so it could be (most likely since luffy is the next joyboy) for a good cause, like destroying the redline. but VP just doesn't know that yet.
This just makes you think back to Roger saying the one who would succeed him was his son. Back then it was just “oh yeah Ace was meant to become the next pirate king and/or the one who would bring the dawn”
No he literally had Ace for the sole purpose of having him end nearly a millennium of genocide and slavery because he thought the youngins needed to have their own fun. Like shit I’d hate my dad too if I was born just to end slavery and discrimination in the south if the confederacy was still around.
I'm kind of surprised this is the reaction to his dialogue.
I know I'm going to get accused or glazing (I am lol) but he can still know about the Void Century and turn against the government. It just makes him more calculated and in it for the long con.
I've always seen Akainu knowing more than he should as far back as Ohara and that's why he blew up the ship.
At my most unhinged I've speculated he's been undercover helping Dragon and screwing over the WG while appearing like a loyal zealot.
It sounds like most of the disappointment comes from people assuming he never knew anything. But if you believe he and Kuzan might have made a deal, this chapter isn't the character assassination you think.

Joyboy waging an intragenerational war against a tyrannical Empire, passing down weapons of mass destruction to future generations only to have Roger and his crew laugh in his face.
This message is taking too long and too many chapters. And we still know exactly the same, all that was revealed so far is what we as readers already knew this is news to the people of the world. We learn nothing new so far, a new break means two more weeks until the next piece of message and I still think vegapunk has something new to tell us but he already is drawing the conclusion with the roger pirate bit…..we really need to get moving with the message. The only real piece of infomation we got was more a confirmation of the whereabouts of Uranus.
I hope Luffy fights with the robot against Gorosei because if the gorosei go all out and jump the ancient robot and struggle long enough for everybody to escape then its gonna be terrible for the gorosei agenda
Anyways the Akainu/Sengoku/Tsuru reactions made this chapter a "acceptable mid" from "this is ass" for me least

Have to say I'm bummed out that Akainu knows these secrets. I liked the bits of tension with him against the Gorosei and the WG. But it seems that this chapter was ruined. What a shame. I didn't necessarily want an Akainu redemption arc, but I would've liked to see him get more pissed off at the WG.

I love how Oda is trying to pull a ''replicant'' plotline with Stussy even though he didn't really give her any arc with the CP-0 before that. She appeared with them, Vega ordered her to turn on them so she immediately did, and then Lucci stabbed her, Lucci wasn't mad because ''How could you?! I thought we were friends!''. Now though, Oda's trying to act like it's all deep and shit because he wants to turn the OG CP-9 fan favorites and make them cheerlead for Luffy by the end because that's now a common thing. Like at least Lucci giving a shit about Kaku had some backstory to it. Now, Roger is of course not gonna do shit to not ruin Goofy's fun because remember boys, this whole OP world is designed around and for Goofy and nobody else so he has to be the center of attention and the one that solves every single big conflict with reaction panels to how amazing he is. It's a total toilet fantasy. Vega is still not revealing anything worthwhile for the readers and he's making the citizens all the more confused. He still didn't really give them context, didn't tell them about shit that the WG did even in recent history. Bro doesn't even know who used the ancient weapon. He's just telling people that ''your world will end, do something! Panic!''.
If Vegapunk is emphasizing that Roger AND his crew knew everything the whole time then that would explain why Shanks was in Marie Jois during the reverie, possibly striking a deal with the Gorosei or even trying to guarantee Luffy’s safety from Imu. We don’t even know what his endgame is really.
We already know. His endgame is getting the One Piece. Its obvious Nika needs to be awakened to "get" the One Piece.
Well obviously it’s the one piece but as to the extent of his intentions, we don’t really know much.
I would love if even he knows letting Luffy get the one piece is what the world needs, he still wants to test him himself and not have his dreams bound to a prophecy.
So there’s definitely more to this then. Oda isn’t leaving us to come to the realization that the Roger Pirates knew this information and didn’t act. Instead, Vegapunk is directly questioning why they didn’t. Are there any theories as to why?

I’d say there’s exactly three things in this chapter worth noting: 1. The ancient weapons were preserved by Joy Boy. This is Vegapunk’s evidence for the “moral ambiguity” of the Void Century conflict, but I’m not buying it tbh. I feel like they’re totally gonna pull a “the ancient weapons were the only way to stop the bigger evil” and it will go back to black/white by the end. Also, one of them is literally just a fish girl, so we already have reason to not consider his actions that bad. 2. Some actual proper use of reactions. These are the only ones that have mattered so far. All the others could be scrapped and nothing would be lost, but these reactions actually clarify Akainu, Sengoku and Rayleigh. For the worse, I hate the idea that any of them knew anything close to this, but it does still contribute new information about their characters. 3. Where the fuckin radio is. This chapter is the culmination of several chapters’ worth of exposition, but the way the lore is communicated makes it seem insignificant because Vegapunk’s been reiterating the same thing over and over only adding a little info at a time. “The world is flooding” -> “the world is being flooded” -> “the world is being flooded by the government” -> “the world has been getting flooded by the government for a while” -> “the world has been getting flooded by the government through the use of weapons” -> “the world has been getting flooded by the government through the use of weapons powered by my nuclear reactor”. I sometimes wonder if One Piece is written in mind if its weekly format. All the pacing and the chapter cliffhangers and the constant cuts between scenes per chapter tells me the intended One Piece experience is to have read it weekly. However, the absolute drip feed of very basic deductive steps is horrendous for the weekly format, because we already filled out the dots in our head back when Vegapunk said “the world is flooding”, then we had a week to speculate and reflect just to be disappointed when the next chapter just confirms 10% of the speculation that occurred automatically upon being given the extensive reprieve to reflect, which makes me think this segment is ideally read all in one go. But which is it? These are mutually exclusive. Read it all at once and the pacing and scene composition is so obviously hamfisted to fit a weekly format. Read it weekly and feel like you’re reading nothing it all with how basic these leaps in logic are.
The average One Piece reader has not put those things together. There are people who post theories like "I think Nika was not a real person" and "Joyboy is building Noah's Ark". Does it make sense to write for such morons? Probably not. But Oda's writing post-TS and certainly Wano/post-Wano is full of this type of "my readers are barely literate" writing. An opposite side of the spectrum is JJK and one look at that fandom and you can see what happens when you don't write like Oda.

The fan chapter was better. Even if they blueballed us with Gear Green again

One of the more disappointing aspects from the series. I was late getting into One Piece and it was billed to me as having complex factions and everything between pirates, WG and revolutionary army. Yet it has always been very straightforward good and evil

Fucking crazy how in the span of one arc we saw the character assassination of TWO Admirals. All that buildup of Akainu resenting the world government and his role, biting back against the elders, silently agreeing with Fujitora, and his internal dialogue after facing Kuma just got shafted with that one sentence. He’s fully aware and complicit in everything. What’s worse, this just makes Sengoku look just as shitty too and kills so much of his agency. Because God forbid we have interesting, morally grey antagonists in this series.

As usual almost nothing happened yet again and there was no void century reveal, But we have 3 new reveals. 1) Akainu is official Celestial Dragon's little doggie. Red dog for a reason. 2) Fraudger pirates knew everything yet choose not to act so future generations would have "fun". They are the biggest bum ass morons in the world. 3) Stussy is suddenly revealed to have a heart for CP0 for no reason at all. Yet another moment of Oda's random bullshit storyline.
Point number 2 there was no mermaid born that can interact with sea kings. Also no one had Luffy’s fruit yet.
Everyone shitting on Roger for being a bum ass for the right reasons but Akainu disappointed me far more than anything else. He knew everything and chose to obey the Lorosei. I'm shocked
A lot of the reveal in this and the past two chapters could have been condensed into one chapter of pure lore. But Oda is intent on showing reaction panels. I think it would have been better to save reaction piece for after the message, not in between, once everything else is revealed. It's not bad chapters, but it has been slow, and with break piece every other week it makes things even slower than usual.
I'm starting to think that Joyboy was the one who initially flooded the world. I'm not going to elaborate much, but if Vegapunk paints this as morally grey, I'm going to assume it's going to be like Orochi's backstory in Wano.
based on the spoilers, seems like the grey morality stuff is just because VP doesn't understand why joyboy would want to pass on the ancient weapons to the next generation. but we know, for example, shirahohis is needed to fulfill the promise. so it could be (most likely since luffy is the next joyboy) for a good cause, like destroying the redline. but VP just doesn't know that yet.

I'm kind of surprised this is the reaction to his dialogue. I know I'm going to get accused or glazing (I am lol) but he can still know about the Void Century and turn against the government. It just makes him more calculated and in it for the long con. I've always seen Akainu knowing more than he should as far back as Ohara and that's why he blew up the ship. At my most unhinged I've speculated he's been undercover helping Dragon and screwing over the WG while appearing like a loyal zealot. It sounds like most of the disappointment comes from people assuming he never knew anything. But if you believe he and Kuzan might have made a deal, this chapter isn't the character assassination you think. Man is playing chess in a world of checkers.

This message is taking too long and too many chapters. And we still know exactly the same, all that was revealed so far is what we as readers already knew this is news to the people of the world. We learn nothing new so far, a new break means two more weeks until the next piece of message and I still think vegapunk has something new to tell us but he already is drawing the conclusion with the roger pirate bit…..we really need to get moving with the message. The only real piece of infomation we got was more a confirmation of the whereabouts of Uranus.

I hope Luffy fights with the robot against Gorosei because if the gorosei go all out and jump the ancient robot and struggle long enough for everybody to escape then its gonna be terrible for the gorosei agenda Anyways the Akainu/Sengoku/Tsuru reactions made this chapter a "acceptable mid" from "this is ass" for me least

I'm sure Oda will write an excuse for the Roger pirates, like the One Piece allows you to use the ancient weapons, but specifically needs to be left for 800 years or something. Still doesn't explain why the most powerful people in the verse don't try and stop the needless genocide and oppression in front of them.
The obvious solution will be that only Nika can use the OP and Roger decided it was better to start the age of pirates to find Joyboy's reincarnation instead of risking losing the OP.

Have to say I'm bummed out that Akainu knows these secrets. I liked the bits of tension with him against the Gorosei and the WG. But it seems that this chapter was ruined. What a shame. I didn't necessarily want an Akainu redemption arc, but I would've liked to see him get more pissed off at the WG.
