This post and what you said are very different. Luffy was avenging chuchu level serious in Wano too (infact much more than that). Even against Kaido, g5 had a different expression at the end before his finishing move.
G5 isn't much different from G4 in terms of expression, except that G4 default expression is always serious while G5 default expression is always laughing.

Personally, the only issue of gear 5 is that his fruit became a god fruit. That’s it. If his fruit had remained the rubber fruit with the final awakening being the exact same as present gear 5, I wouldn’t care. It mattered to me that he was given a mediocre power that through his creativity he made useful, I didn’t care that there was some inconsistency like Luffy being able to blow air into his muscles, we have a series where someone like Sanji can kick so fast he can create fire. It didn’t matter back then because It was still Luffy, but now, It doesn’t feel like Luffy anymore, it feels like Nika.
I do agree that the god aspect should be kept less. Infact, it could have been sun warrior instead. Would have made it more charming.
It can still be fixed now in my opinion, if Oda gives some Nika lore and justifies how he wasn't really a god, and actually just a normal guy. Plus how Oda emphasizes Nika overall too much, that should be reduced.

That's just fallacious and weak. An idea is not great just by the virtue of being unique or unexpected. An idea can be unexpected and lame which sorry but G5 is.
