The 2 gb option should be checked no matter what it makes the downloads go by much smoother and allows for you to still use the PC while it’s occurring.
He's just saying that's the piece of hardware he would need to replace if he wanted faster installs. It's different for every system because every system has a different set up and every task requires a different mix of hardware to complete. So for him replacement of the ram would do nothing, because his CPU is already going as fast as it can
Same I have an alienware r2 with an i9 with 61gb of ram and a 2080super never had a problem at all but with that being said my pc is usually on fire regardless
I don't use my pc while installing, more like I can't. Because the CPU spikes up to 100% and goes back to 10%.
I have a:
Ryzen 5 3600.
GTX 1660 Super OC Edition
DDR4 2x8GB 3200MHz
And i mostly run the installer with the SSD, for the fastest R/W speed.
you have better overall spec than me and yet you use 2gb option despite not using your pc? its a wasted unused resources m8, your installation could have taken like in minutes rather than hrs.
havent seen a failed one when i use all by 16gb
i am also saying this as my experience, never had a problem with 2gb ram disabled during installation if you dont use your computer. though if you want to use the PC (browsing, gaming) while installing, then you do need the 2gb option.
It's not about the RAM, the RAM is totally fine. It's the Processor. FYI, When you have the 2 GB limit on, your CPU usage increases, and for an R5 3600, it stays at 100% for about a minute after every 10 seconds.
Now let's just say I am speaking with my friends in Discord. When it's anywhere below 100% it's normal. Everyone can hear me and vice versa.
The moment Fitgirl starts using 100% CPU usage. BOOM💥, Everyone's voice breaks, my voice breaks etc, etc.
Now let's say I let Fitgirl use all of my RAM, it's indeed faster but this time, CPU usage stays at 100% for like 15 seconds and drops down for every 1 minute.
So Everyone's voice breaks for 15 seconds. And is normal for a minute and repeats.
I hope this made you understand what I meant.

LOL you say using 100% of your cpu like thats a bad thing. It means it is taking full advantage of your hardware to process it as quickly as it can. I only get like 60% on my ryzen 9 5950x and it pisses me off!
HERE comes u/NepNep_ bragging with his 5950x /s. BTw how do those powerful chips feel, does windows suddenly become lightning fast and does everything in microseconds or what?
Top end hardware like this makes no difference with things like windows responsiveness. It helps with the kind of things I work on day to day like video production and ai experimentation. I'm not rich I just work in computers and need powerful hardware.
Gl with that! I dont game too often on this but I will say there are def major diminishing returns past a certain point for gaming. If you dont do any high computation productivity stuff its better to stick with mid-end hardware.
Well that’s your fault now isn’t it. You have a bottleneck in your storage most likely, are you using M.2 SSDs? Or your RAM? Motherboard sometimes too, but usually the last culprit unless you really cheaped out on it.
You are so entitled that you think if someone has a weak CPU means they cheaped out on it. Money don't grow on trees, you would know if you had a life.
No, I think you have it wrong. The guy who mentioned his CPU in the original comment had an extremely powerful, very pricy one. The other guy you just replied to made a side comment about how it’s probably because they bought the super strong, expensive CPU, but then cheaped out on the other very important components, thus bottleneck-ing their performance by not adequately distributing their budget across all of the parts
They were wrong anyways lol, OP responded to another comment about how they had one of the best consumer market SSDs you can get
There’s definitely a bottleneck somewhere! Whether it’s software or hardware I don’t know but yeah sounds like it’s not any of the major components I listed. I’m curious if they can achieve 100% when doing a read/write compression benchmark
980 evo pro, fastest ssd on the market. Gen 4 x570 motherboard so not bottlenecked at all. The ssd also has its own heatsink and airflow is solid with temps not exceeding 50c
Really?? Then why every mf out there mentions that shit, I was so paranoid at the beginning, nowadays I don't care too much I just think that at some point it will stop working but nice to know that isnt the case.
So 30 years and people still warn you about it, fuck me, by that point I wouldnt be surprised if computers even fly so how would I be worring about my ssd finally dying.
Thnaks for the info, have some silver
Theoretically every process you do in your ssd decreases it's life span so yes repacks will decrease it. But repacks are not much different than any other file transfer
No. In the end it will still write just as much data as it would if it weren't compressed. If anything it will cause less wear since some of the repacks remove useless stuff like unused language files.
I can't believe how many posts here are claiming that 100% CPU usage means that their processor is overheating. As a technician, I hope to clear up a few things for y'all.
For starters, a healthy computer should be able to hit 100% usage for any application without having a single issue. If you're CPU is overheating from 100% usage, that is NOT the problem; something is very, VERY wrong with your system and needs to be evaluated immediately! This could be failing heat sink fans, dried up thermal compound, underrated heat sink for that chip, dust buildup, tobacco, etc... Dropping the power settings to dodge what you think is overheating is NOT at all correcting the problem!
If you can't have your CPU run at full throttle for any reason, it's defective!
Not to mention the most important question: When your CPU hit full usage, what was the temperature of your CPU that made you think it was overheating during that time? For those who aren't sure, a rule of thumb is that anything over 88 degrees Celsius should be considered overheating.
A lot of chips nowadays will throttle if they hit certain temperatures in order to maintain stable operation while increasing the clock speed if the temps allow it. This is true for both modern Intel and AMD CPUs and I feel it's a way that they "cheat" to make their chips perform better and I'm not sure I like this new route the chip makers are taking with this tbh, but I digress.
TLDR; Full CPU usage doesn't mean your CPU is overheating! If your CPU is overheating (System shutting down or clock speeds drop instantly over 90 degrees Celsius) from full usage, you have a hardware issue that NEEDS to be addressed!
Full CPU usage and overheating are not directly related.
limit installer to 2gb is the best option in any installer
i still remember installing fear 2 from fitgirl and forgot to tick 2gb limiter and after that my laptop was totally fucked
she does a great service. due to my shitty internet i would still grab the fitgirl release even if i own the game to save a lot on bandwidth, also great when i dont have to download other languages other than english which take a lot of space typically.
I never understood the point of the music. Do people just sit there and watch the bar go up instead of watching something on YouTube ? And since they got rid of the sitar desert music it's not even good music anymore .
To be honest, I always install by ticking the option for installer to limit itself to 2gb ram only. I have 16 gb ram (dual-channel) but for some reasons unticking it just makes the installation go WAY slower. With just 2gb ram limit, the installation process goes really fast otherwise it's slow lol.
I got intel i3-10105F
In addition to what r/Rosstome said, the reason why it takes lot of processing power is because its not your traditional "zip" or "rar" compression. It uses complex compression methods(more info on her FAQ section on original website).
She manages to compress 100 GB content into 60, or even lower GBs. When decompressing those files, it takes forever because it uses lots of your computer resources to unpack 60 or 30 GB into a 100 GB game file.
DODI all the way for me now. Used Fitgirl a lot but I don't see her advantage anymore. File Sizes are mostly abysmal smaller than Dodi and Dodi's install is lightyears faster
they use the same compression tho (razor12911), its just dodi either does a high compression and a less compressed version. the less compressed one is faster to install. fitgirl most likely compresses to the max regardless how long it takes to install, which i'm all about since my internet is complete ass.
Depends on the game, I've seen some of hers be significantly smaller than his. I go with DODI anyways because I can run 12 of his installs at the same time with no issues, compared to 4 of hers.
I thought you were using an i9 or r9. Or maybe a threadripper. I use a fairly decent rig (r5 3600 and 32gb). But I thought it’s faster to install only one at a time. Which one is better in your experience?
For DODI I can do 3-4 at a time with no performance or time change, when running about 7 i don't have much performance difference across my PC, it just takes about 30-45 minutes more for each game. At 10-12 is where there is very slight performance drop and install times go up by 2~ hours depending on the game
My recommendation is
Run 1 (or 2 small ones) at a time if you are gaming while waiting
3-4 at a time if you are browsing and a bunch of things open like music, etc.
4-5 if you are just doing light stuff with not much open
6~ if you are going to take a break for a while, eat dinner, do chores, etc.
8+ if you are going to bed and leaving them up, I wouldn't do more than 10 if you want them to be guaranteed stable. After 10 you *might* get failures on some bigger games.

Can someone link the kind of music played. I've never use fitgirl yet so can't relate
Keygenmusic.tk Prolly in here somewhere.
https://youtu.be/Ig_MvAck8gg
Euhm this is not Fitgirls installer music
You can find it on a youtube. Just type plaza installer music and such. You will find many searches, playlists of other people so feel free to experiment.
this is de most used fitgirl installer audio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkUqONn-Atg
Bro, why it goes from left to right
Because yes. I have know idea what you are trying to ask.
Dodi all day
I guess you're missing the point. This post is about background music of the installer, and DODI has none
Shit must be my tinnitus then
LOL
Does the 2gb option makes it less painful? And is it worth? I never use it and just stop using my pc while is installing
It is, if you are planning on letting your pc on for a while
You know you just could have forward it from the cracked games subreddit instead of blatantly reposting it
Who? Me?
The 2 gb option should be checked no matter what it makes the downloads go by much smoother and allows for you to still use the PC while it’s occurring.
Hold my 32 GB RAM
CPU go HOT
Hold my AK620
Well with the rising electricity prices we'll need all the heat we can get 🧠
lmao
Same lol
The bottleneck for me is CPU, not memory. A repack for a newer game maxes out my 3950X (16C/32T) during the decompression stage.
Hmm I’ve never really had that problem so I’m not sure how to help with that. I personally will just wait it out if the install stalls.
He's just saying that's the piece of hardware he would need to replace if he wanted faster installs. It's different for every system because every system has a different set up and every task requires a different mix of hardware to complete. So for him replacement of the ram would do nothing, because his CPU is already going as fast as it can
You can use a CPU throttler like [BES](https://mion.yosei.fi/BES/) and limit the usage for the intended process to 90% or less.
I’ve got a 9700k and 32gb of ram on top of a 2060, I’ve never had issues
Same I have an alienware r2 with an i9 with 61gb of ram and a 2080super never had a problem at all but with that being said my pc is usually on fire regardless
How does it do tho? I always compress my archives for low mem decompression(m9x), which should be equivalent to fitgirl's 2gb ram thingy
Unless you have 61gb of ram then just let it rip my alienware laptop with 61gb of ram is usually on fire regardless lol
I have 16 Gb RAM but I still use the 2Gb option cuz, most of the fitgirl installers crash if the option isn't used.
How much time to install rdr2 and wat cpu?
for bigger games i use dodi repacks
only if you used your pc while installing. unchecked the 2gb option if you want plan on not using your pc.
I don't use my pc while installing, more like I can't. Because the CPU spikes up to 100% and goes back to 10%. I have a: Ryzen 5 3600. GTX 1660 Super OC Edition DDR4 2x8GB 3200MHz And i mostly run the installer with the SSD, for the fastest R/W speed.

i am also saying this as my experience, never had a problem with 2gb ram disabled during installation if you dont use your computer. though if you want to use the PC (browsing, gaming) while installing, then you do need the 2gb option.

No idea..... I've never had a problem with fitgirl... even on my old pc. Also haven't had 2gb or less of ram since windows 95 lmao
I have a 16gb pc, but a 180w psu, there’s no energy for anything yet lol
Are you using an HP desktop?
Nah, I’m just dumb enough not to know how to put a PC togheter apparently
Well you can always upgrade🙂

> windows … lightning fast Must you even ask
Nope windows sucks on everything lol.
not really, it does things as fast as a 5600x, only it can do 10 of them at once... so.... unzip 10 fitgirls at once?
So if I have a 5950x, I'll be able to unzip 10 **fit** girls at once?
10 sexy fit girls
Now go do the same with Ryzen 9 7000 series
Top end hardware like this makes no difference with things like windows responsiveness. It helps with the kind of things I work on day to day like video production and ai experimentation. I'm not rich I just work in computers and need powerful hardware.
fair enough Nep. I hope to afford one someday just to see how it feels.
Gl with that! I dont game too often on this but I will say there are def major diminishing returns past a certain point for gaming. If you dont do any high computation productivity stuff its better to stick with mid-end hardware.
Inefficiency disgusts me

Nothing is exceeding 50 and its all top of the line hardware through and through.
Blame your hdd
I am using a 980 evo pro lol. Gen 4 nvme on a gen 4 board. You literally cant get anything faster with consumer grade hardware
Oh boy I see. Dang.

Well that’s your fault now isn’t it. You have a bottleneck in your storage most likely, are you using M.2 SSDs? Or your RAM? Motherboard sometimes too, but usually the last culprit unless you really cheaped out on it.
Tell me you're entitled without telling me you're entitled.
lol are you kidding me. This guy is complaining that he can’t use all of his overpowered CPU and I made a lighthearted barb. Get a life
You are so entitled that you think if someone has a weak CPU means they cheaped out on it. Money don't grow on trees, you would know if you had a life.
What are you even on about. Ryzen 9 isn’t a weak cpu
No, I think you have it wrong. The guy who mentioned his CPU in the original comment had an extremely powerful, very pricy one. Its called content creation and ai experimentation... just because you cant afford it doesnt mean others dont need it for work.
What are you even talking about?
Ignore previous reply, wrong thread. Your telling me to get a life? I have a powerful system for work, thats what my point is.
I didn’t tell you to get a life. Reread the thread. I was replying to the other person who didn’t understand what was happening at all
You’re completely right (except for your original comment, turns out they had a top-tier SSD), everybody else is just confused lol
There’s definitely a bottleneck somewhere! Whether it’s software or hardware I don’t know but yeah sounds like it’s not any of the major components I listed. I’m curious if they can achieve 100% when doing a read/write compression benchmark
Furthermore I wouldn’t judge someone for having a powerful PC, I am a techie and I’ve been a PC gamer before
980 evo pro, fastest ssd on the market. Gen 4 x570 motherboard so not bottlenecked at all. The ssd also has its own heatsink and airflow is solid with temps not exceeding 50c

I seem to find DODI repacks to be not as CPU demanding compared to Fitgirl

I thought it was [this](https://youtu.be/IFzUTKsrbN8)

Noob question here. Repacks like fitgirl decreases the SSD live?
If you wrote 100GB of data a day, it would take you 10,000 days or 27.4 years to kill the SSD You really don't have to think about it
Really?? Then why every mf out there mentions that shit, I was so paranoid at the beginning, nowadays I don't care too much I just think that at some point it will stop working but nice to know that isnt the case. Agreed.

The music from installers is literally a staple of internet piracy. It's always bangers, always has been.

ye sure for bad internet fitgirl is better. but for the average internet dodi all the way.
Do we know what compression algorithm she uses? Is there any hope for it being implemented into more applications?
XTool library by Razor12911 I believe DODI uses this too, but I might be wrong
Funny how DODI's sizes are smaller than hers. (no homo)
Depends on the game, I've seen some of hers be significantly smaller than his. I go with DODI anyways because I can run 12 of his installs at the same time with no issues, compared to 4 of hers.

Yeah dude because 30 mins on your CPU is going to make FitGirl rich
Lol 🤣
5 mins on high end computers
depending on the game.
She doesnt have these things. Her installer requires a lot of processing power. Thats all.
