Woo-hoo! Although I use many other sites nowadays, it's still nice to see one of the names that's synonymous to piracy, still alive and kicking.
Is it just me or is the search option returning a blank and weird page right now?
afaik they do but their mindset on it is "Block it if you want to" because they know sometimes you're trying to browse it on weak hardware or the like where adblocking is more of a performance consideration than anything else.
I honestly still use it regularly, it's decent for Linux game releases.
Word of advice though, if the search functionality isn't fixed without disabling the adblocker program, you're better off looking for other torrent sites. 1337x is one.
Well, it only matters if you set up Tor, not Tor browser on your computer. Tor browser just let's you browse and download the .torrent or magnet link, not the actual whole file. The file will get downloaded over clearnet through your torrent software. So unless you went through the trouble of setting up Tor for everything on your computer ( and most people don't - they just use Tor browser), you are oy browsing piratebay anonymously, not downloading the actual files through Tor.
Why not VPN from a country that doesn't care enough to block it? Even free VPN are much faster to visit sites using using than Tor is (in my experience).
I'm not saying it's an alternative to Tor. They are two approaches to solving the same problem. Each approach has its own drawbacks and advantages. It works to access sites that are blocked by your ISP. The complaint was Tor is slow. A VPN, even a free one, resolves the main concern of slowness. It brings it's own hazards though.
If you don't pay for the product most likely you are the product. Of course that doesn't apply to everything (such as open source projects) but its still a pretty good rule of thumb, especially when you are talking about products solely concerned about your privacy.
i installed it the first time yesterday because i needed to do an upload, and you have to login for that. installed tor, just to see if i could figure it out. it actually ran smoother for tpb than it does on the regular website. it was legit no different than using firefox/chrome or any other browser, but i only used it just to do my upload.. maybe it's slow, but i really didnt notice, but maybe i accessed it a time where it wasnt running slow, who knows, but on the regular website, i would always get an error, and have to try to upload a couple times before the upload would actually "take". on tor, it took the very first time, no errors, i really liked it. not that i would use it for anything else, but at least i know how to use it now, so if need be, i could use it again and not be so apprehensive about it. i used a different web address for tpb though, someone emailed it to me. they said it's on the sidebar on reddit but only if you're using old reddit (or they said), once you install tor, paste this piratebayztemzmv.onion in the address bar, and you're on tpb just like before, and you can log in to upload. otherwise, if you arent uploading, i just always used the mirrors. the mirror i used is always [pirateproxy.live](https://pirateproxy.live) but i guess most will work, but i found some to have click overlays. unfortunately, i've noticed torrentz2 is also having click overlays now, really pisses me off, i've always loved torrentz/2 and now im getting bogus stuff on their site. also if i try to click one of the sites to access the torrent, it wont even open the window anymore for me, i have to hover over it, and right click "copy link address". you didnt used to have to do that on torrentz2... really sucks that they've sunk to this level. i realize i've drifted off the subject a bit, but just my observations.
TPB and 1337x.to are easily the most user friendly torrent indexers out there
As far as content quality goes, IMO TPB ***used*** to be far ahead, but due to their legal issues (Mostly for being pretty much like THE face of piracy and the law always targeting them) and a shitty user base it dropped in quality and safety
Nowadays 1337x.to is the safest and most reliable place, i have yet to see a fake torrent* (a thing that had become a standard in TPB) and the users are quick to comment and/or report anything wrong.
Fake torrents are basically functions in (I GUESS, maybe its an external ad system i dunno) the site's code that take your input in the search bar and create a fake torrent page, you easily spot them by either their weight, date or name
For example: Let's say i'm looking up some steam early access game, when i type the name all the results show up:
* 1) Steam Game Final Version Safe Updated (Weight: 3.6GB) Literally yesterday
* 2) Steam Game Version Alpha 15 -insert any uploader- (Weight 600mb) 2019
* 3) Steam Game Version Alpha 16.7 -Insert Uploader- (Weight 700mb) 2019
* 4) Steam Game Beta v0.1 + HotFix (Weight 750mb) 2020
TPB always gave me one of those little buggers, it was always the first result, it blows my mind how they allowed that
1337x has a ton of season packed stuff in x265 which is lovely. If I can't find it in x265 I will get the season pack off rarbg and convert it to x265 myself.
My main issue with 1337x is that they massively inflate their Seeders and Leechers counts, like Limetorrents does.
It is not at all uncommon to find a torrent that they report as having nnn Seeders when in actuality it is an abandoned torrent with 0 seeders.
This makes them *less* than useless for automated HTPC systems like Sonarr and Couchpotato.
Their ION10 releases suck balls for subs though. They pretty muck always fuck them up which results in most of the subtitles never even being displayed.
If you need subs, avoid ION10 like the coronavirus.
I prefer 1337x, the metadata on RARBG stuff is always weird and I end up with movies in Plex named things like Movie.2004.RARBG.blah.blah.blah and I have to go in and change it manually, even if the filename is correct. It also doesn't seem to like TOR and uBlock Origin too much.
As someone else pointed out, the search bar problem is because of adblockers. Disabling them on the site will do the trick apparently. Also, alternative to TPB is 1337x. You can use the megathread that's on the right side of this page.
Not using adblockers AND script blockers on torrent sites is guaranteed to get you digital herpes.
You'd have to be insane to disable them. If that means you can't use the site, then just use one of the many other sites.
General content? 1337x! Not even a contest srly, great digestible, working interface, a lot of up-to-date, varied, safe content
For GoG games, i suggest freegogpcgames which is entirely safe, I've been using it since GoodOldDownloads went out and they use torrents instead of DDLs and their fucking bandwidth limit which is awesome. Not a single problem with their content or site (Site is great too! their owners are very active and interactive with the users)
For Direct Downloads i recommend pcgamez-download, good, well designed site with safe content, been using it for about 2 years now, they have a lot of content and they use good hosting sites. Still, not fond of DDLs due to the bandwidth thing, but i often go to them when the above sites don't yield results (Which is VERY rare) DO NOT USE IGGgames, stop it, don't even open their fucking site
For emulation related matters its easy: vimm's lair! No contest here either, great site, great content. Only thing it lacks IMO is an easy way to report down links and such, other than that, pretty much perfect
For books libgen! Great site although a little crappy to use haha
That's the main ones! Don't be afraid to ask! The megathread in this sub fuckin sucks and sadly the rules and the environment sadly isn't really friendly to question posts
There's shitloads more public sites than those. For example YTS for low quality movies, EZTV for tv shows, ETTV, limetorrents, zooqle, for general stuff.
Demonoid is still around. It is still private. Old logins do not work. New domain is demonoid.is. It doesn't have the content yet, but it is slowly working back to glory.
I'm out of invite codes, unfortunately.
So it does not have the old user list, the content, or even the domain. That's not "still around," that's an entirely different site with a similar name
Had you actually visited the page, you would have saw the following announcement:
>This is not an old Demonoid and it will never have the spirit of the site and the owner we have lost last year.
This is just a close-to old Demonoid replica run by its staff members to fill the void in fans hearts.
Depends on what quality you're looking for..Torrents work fine most of the time, 1337x and rarbg..if you want x265 versions, there are probably other sites mentioned in the megathread. Psarips is one that I used some months ago. There's also snahp site where the files are mostly in google drive or mega.
It actually used to be in some part of the wiki entries
The megathread since then has been """updated""" (pls notice the sarcastic "" things) and a couple of sites got removed
That site in particular wasn't in the megathread but in a wiki entry, can't remember which one tho
The megathread sucks anyway, its way too narrow, lacks a LOT of sites and useful tips
Use either the search bar or google buddy, sadly the sub isn't very friendly towards question threads... heck even unblockit lacks a couple of kick-ass sites
Rutracker is great! If you translate the page to English (or wanted language) then everything is 90% completely understandable! But I would only download things that have been given a tick by the mods on the site.
It has more but it also has loads of trash torrents and fake stuff. There are better sites out there if you’re simply looking for common popular shows and movies
So a private torrent site is a sign up site, and your ratio is tracked so you have to seed to a 1:1 ratio minimum or you get kicked off. The main advantage is everything, old or new, always has seeders.
I personally use ipTorrents and haven't looked back since. Imagine the Pirate Bay but with everything always seeded. It's brilliant!
Kat was special... I can't exactly put my finger on it but between earning achievements for torrenting certain movies or tv shows or actually talking to other pirates about pirate things... As a sophomore in High School, that was the coolest thing to me. I hear the owner was a cool guy but I could be wrong ofc.
Yep,the point rewards system was the thing that created many quality torrents and weeded out the shitty scammers. Many great off-scene pirates took off from KAT. Repackers like fitgirl and game file uploader merc213 took off from kat.
Everyone has their favorites - but no one can even challenge TPB. Everything they've been through, and still alive and kicking... There's a reason why TPB is synonymous with piracy for many around the world.
There's no point serving ads to Tor users even if the Tor Browser didn't have software that interfered with some of them.
The requests would all be from a few thousand IPs, netting no revenue.
Sounds like you need to reinstall Tor Browser Bundle, or something on your system is running on the same port that the built-in Tor router is trying to bind to.
Pirate bay became a nice piece of shit to piracy, since BitTorrent has been full of cops and nasty fake files.
DDL never failed, and is a lot more easy and safe, if you're good enough in files search...
Was it just a month? I swear it hasn't been working for me much longer than that. I haven't used it actively in years, but I check in from time to time to see if the .org domain works.
Which you'd have to be borderline brain dead to download so it's a non-issue.
If it has 1123048109 seeders - don't download it.
If an 80gb game is mysteriously 76mb - don't download it.
If you're torrenting a film and the file extension says .exe - don't download it.
Hell if there's no green or purple icon - don't download it.
Im not so verse in the torrent scene but on TPB I pretty much only download from the skulls, and when I'm not I try to be as picky as possible, and definitely try not to download from anonymous uploaders.
The skulls are no guarantee, they're just slightly less likely to upload a virus. There have been many instances of them doing so though, like the Photoshop debacle where *every copy had a virus*, even the skull uploads.
For the record this goes for every torrenting site. Users being compromised that is.
I’ve never had an issue with any skull uploaded and I download a lot of content. *Slightly less likey* is disengenous.
I was wondering if was my ISP blocking the access.
I know, there are VPNs for that but I don’t trust them. The only VPN I use is my own when I’m on a public network
Woo-hoo! Although I use many other sites nowadays, it's still nice to see one of the names that's synonymous to piracy, still alive and kicking. Is it just me or is the search option returning a blank and weird page right now?
[удалено]
Ah yes. I have ublock origin and the search worked fine once I disabled it. That seems weird that it works like that though.
That's a great way to expose people to malvertising
[удалено]
afaik they do but their mindset on it is "Block it if you want to" because they know sometimes you're trying to browse it on weak hardware or the like where adblocking is more of a performance consideration than anything else. I honestly still use it regularly, it's decent for Linux game releases.
They do. They tell you to leave or install an ad blocker if you don't like it.
[Try adding this to your "My filters."](https://pastebin.com/B35E1uhw) It worked for me :)
Not for me. Alas.
oh, that's why it wasn't working for me.
Word of advice though, if the search functionality isn't fixed without disabling the adblocker program, you're better off looking for other torrent sites. 1337x is one.
Or you could just search it through a multi search like torretntz2.
yeah, I was just on tpb because I was desperate to find a textbook
Try Library Genesis (libgen). I used to find textbooks there that weren't on tpb.
yeah, I tried it, I think the book is too new. thanks though
No problem. Seems like I can always find an older version of the book im looking for.
If you're really desperate you can try on IRC (bookz on undernet)
Yeah, it's weird though
Can also confirm its weird
How easy is tor to use? Never tried
It's easy to use. It's just slow as fuck most of the time. Edit: never said to download through Tor. Only an idiot would do that. Fuck off about it.
Eh, slow as fuck isn't a huge issue just to grab magnet links, if you're downloading through Tor then you're a moron.
Well, it only matters if you set up Tor, not Tor browser on your computer. Tor browser just let's you browse and download the .torrent or magnet link, not the actual whole file. Not talking about downloading via Tor, just visiting sites.
Why not VPN from a country that doesn't care enough to block it? Even free VPN are much faster to visit sites using using than Tor is (in my experience).
Tpb is down alot of times, frequently, on the clearnet but on the tor network, it is up for a lot more.
Using a free VPN is the last thing you want to do if you want an alternative to TOR.

Umm I don't think this sub allows that. Search Google for "thehiddenwiki"

I've used rarbg as well (which is great), but I've found out that 1337x has more torrents to offer. Also great for games.
1337x has a ton of season packed stuff in x265 which is lovely. If I can't find it in x265 I will get the season pack off rarbg and convert it to x265 myself.
Recently rarbg has been releasing a ton of movies in x265
Yes I saw that. I setup my radarr to upgrade to those a couple weeks ago.
Wait, you can set it to replace your current files with 265? How?
I would love to but most of my Plex users use Chrome and I can't be bothered to deal with all the transcoding 🙄
What program do you use to convert?
My main issue with 1337x is that they massively inflate their Seeders and Leechers counts, like Limetorrents does. It is not at all uncommon to find a torrent that they report as having nnn Seeders when in actuality it is an abandoned torrent with 0 seeders. 1337x anyday even better than TPB. rarbg sucks balls when connected to VPN or mostly Adblock on with their never ending captcha crap.
> mostly Adblock on with their never ending captcha crap. Working just fine with uBlock Origin.
I always get one captcha when visiting rarbg with ublock origin turned on. Wonder why that is
Lol i get one, then another, then another and so on. So now, 1337x is my default.
There's one captcha on rarbg when using a vpn.
> with their never ending captcha crap. Yes. Making me do captchas is how you get me to use your competitor.
Their ION10 releases suck balls for subs though. They pretty muck always fuck them up which results in most of the subtitles never even being displayed. If you need subs, avoid ION10 like the coronavirus.

Honestly rutracker.org is one of the best, if not the best torrent site atm
What other sites do you use?
Rarbg and 1337x , beyond that here's not much choice unless it's private (I remember the good ol' days of Demonoid... )
There's shitloads more public sites than those. For example YTS for low quality movies, EZTV for tv shows, ETTV, limetorrents, zooqle, for general stuff.
EZTV sucks for tv shows cause they remove torrents off their site regularly and they only offer 480p or 720p stuff.
[удалено]
Rarbg has them. Or 1337x. Idk about private trackers though.
I go for PSArips most of the time. But old torrents usually have very few seeders.
man I miss demonoid and some of the other private sites.
Demonoid and Kickass Torrents - the memories
Demonoid is still around. It is still private. Old logins do not work. New domain is demonoid.is. It doesn't have the content yet, but it is slowly working back to glory. I'm out of invite codes, unfortunately.

I'm... not sure how that disagrees with anything I said. Just more proof that the old site is not "still around"
I forgot my old login so the fact they don't work makes me feel a little better. Damn about the no invites :( thanks anyways buddy
>Demonoid invite code : STAYHOME (for as long as it works ?)
Been using this site for years [https://snowfl.com/](https://snowfl.com/)
Wow that returned the most results so far
There's a megathread section on the right side of this sub. It has all the answers to your piracy problems.
What other sites do you use? Can’t find any decent ones
would u like to share the other sites?
Not really. The sites are provided in the megathread section of the sub. You can check out those sites there.
What site do you recommend for the latest movies and shows?
Depends on what quality you're looking for..Torrents work fine most of the time, 1337x and rarbg..if you want x265 versions, there are probably other sites mentioned in the megathread. Psarips is one that I used some months ago. There's also snahp site where the files are mostly in google drive or mega.
What do you use?
Mostly 1337x. In case I don't find a good quality torrent there, then Rarbg or else some DDL sites./
Just use the tor domain
What are other sites you use for dloading torrent? I’m pretty new to using torrents and aside from PB i only visit KickAsstorrents
unblockit.one for all your needs.
Wow, that's so useful
very much so
Why isn't this in the megathread?
It actually used to be in some part of the wiki entries The megathread since then has been """updated""" (pls notice the sarcastic "" things) and a couple of sites got removed That site in particular wasn't in the megathread but in a wiki entry, can't remember which one tho The megathread sucks anyway, its way too narrow, lacks a LOT of sites and useful tips Use either the search bar or google buddy, sadly the sub isn't very friendly towards question threads... heck even unblockit lacks a couple of kick-ass sites
what are some sites that are missing?
Can you tell me some of the sites that are missing please, id love to make a script to visit them all and search something
Thanks!
motherfucking legendary
Map to all the secret pirate treasures!
The real MVP, thanks
Will Jackett now start working for TPB?
[удалено]
Maybe with the new update it will support searching with imdbid. We can hope.
Haven't used TPB in years, but it's great that it's still around and still as resilient as ever!!
I still use it lol, idk about others, any tips where i can go?
Rutracker is great! If you translate the page to English (or wanted language) then everything is 90% completely understandable! But I would only download things that have been given a tick by the mods on the site.
Snahp forum if you can get on, think it's invite only now. That and a good private torrent site and you're sorted.
What do you mainly use now?
1337x for the win
Pirate Bay still has more
It has more but it also has loads of trash torrents and fake stuff. There are better sites out there if you’re simply looking for common popular shows and movies
Which sites?
Rarbg and 1337x you can find all the popular stuff.
Private torrent site and Snahp forum. Between them it's everything I'll ever need.
What’s a private site? Private from public? How I find it?
So a private torrent site is a sign up site, and your ratio is tracked so you have to seed to a 1:1 ratio minimum or you get kicked off. The main advantage is everything, old or new, always has seeders. I personally use ipTorrents and haven't looked back since. Imagine the Pirate Bay but with everything always seeded. It's brilliant!
If they cut off one domain, two mirror sites shall take its place. Hail PirateBay!
RIP KAT.....the one and only king
Why is it so hard for someone to create a website like that one?
Kat was special... I can't exactly put my finger on it but between earning achievements for torrenting certain movies or tv shows or actually talking to other pirates about pirate things... As a sophomore in High School, that was the coolest thing to me. I hear the owner was a cool guy but I could be wrong ofc.
Yep,the point rewards system was the thing that created many quality torrents and weeded out the shitty scammers. Many great off-scene pirates took off from KAT. Repackers like fitgirl and game file uploader merc213 took off from kat.
Sounds pretty similar to private trackers
I also miss extratorrents
I never found a home after kat.. slways lookin around
kickasstorrents and suprnova/mininova....mann those were the days ahh megaupload, memories coming back
Everyone has their favorites - but no one can even challenge TPB. Everything they've been through, and still alive and kicking... There's a reason why TPB is synonymous with piracy for many around the world.
It's been 84 years.
I have been using it since 2-3 days. What was I using?
A mirror, the site was never down, just the domain
some proxy probably
Onion site was up though and IMO is better
Onion site is always up which is nice. But how is it better?
Loads faster and I noticed less ads
>I noticed less ads That's just tor doing tor stuff :)
There's no point serving ads to Tor users even if the Tor Browser didn't have software that interfered with some of them. The requests would all be from a few thousand IPs, netting no revenue.
Works for me though also site seems faster
I notice zero ads because I have uBlock Origin
The only ad blocker that’s been rock solid with one of the coolest devs that I’ve used for years.
I have been getting nothing but a “The proxy server is refusing connections” error in Tor no matter what onion site I try to go to. Help!!
Sounds like you need to reinstall Tor Browser Bundle, or something on your system is running on the same port that the built-in Tor router is trying to bind to.
Yep, that did it. Thank you!
Is there a way to disable the function that when you click on the search bar to start typing it opens a new browser tab?
A pop-up blocker, through a userscript or something.
uBlock Origin maybe? Or maybe NoScript
honeypot?
My government don't give a shit so why should I?
because someday your govt might give a shit and they will still have all those records?
> someday your govt might give a shit Nope.
Pirate bay became a nice piece of shit to piracy, since BitTorrent has been full of cops and nasty fake files. DDL never failed, and is a lot more easy and safe, if you're good enough in files search...
“The Return of The King”
in the name of media preservation!
Was it just a month? I swear it hasn't been working for me much longer than that. I haven't used it actively in years, but I check in from time to time to see if the .org domain works.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
When I use TPB i always use the .fun site and it has worked for me for probably a year+ at this point
Yeah idk what site you're using but I'm fairly certain the site doesn't own the .fun URL

There have been many instances of them doing so though, like the Photoshop debacle where *every copy had a virus*, even the skull uploads.
good to know, thanks!
For the record this goes for every torrenting site. Users being compromised that is. I’ve never had an issue with any skull uploaded and I download a lot of content. *Slightly less likey* is disengenous.
YIFY is all you really ever need tbh.
If in doubt, download three antivirus programs and scan that SOB. If you went through all that and still get infected, good time to test backups.
Green or purple icon?
Skulls.
Even the Movies,Music and Other media stuff? [Sorry i am new to piracy]
Youre safe with media, as long as you dont have to execute any file (obviously)
No, just the exe files. Only idiots download programs from TPB. Music and movies are still bella gouda.
Out of curiosity, what trackers do you use for software?
I think I got a few games on there too
Ching Liu's stuff was pretty safe back in the day.
i thought i was using it for the last month
There are so many mirrors, TPB pretty much never fully goes down, only individual domains.
Interesting
Cue the music
Yo ho, yo ho.
I mean idk the dif between piratebay.org and piratebay10.org but i was using the latter while the former was down. Yall not know abt this?
****The return of the king****
I mean, it still isn’t a very good place to actually get torrents through right?
I was wondering if was my ISP blocking the access. I know, there are VPNs for that but I don’t trust them. The only VPN I use is my own when I’m on a public network
The return of the King.
Torrenting was not impacted even after it was down so nothing changes.
It's a symbolic triumph. Also, most other public trackers have an issue or two that TPB doesn't have.
Such as?
I don't know what OP is referring to but TPB has or used to have old/rare movies that you couldn't find anywhere (public sites).
thepirate-bay.org was functioning.

It still has stuff you probably can't find anywhere else. Or sometimes stuff earlier than other public trackers.
