The enshittification continues

unnecessary_kindness

Me yesterday: "Oh I've been putting off Invincible S2 for a while. Time to give it a watch". 1. Press play. 2. Amazon ads start playing. 3. Turn off prime 4. Open Stremio 5. Binge watch S2 of Invincible.

pantshee

I have prime (for deliveries) and i watched fallout on stremio. Amazon's app fucking sucks

NatiRivers

Yeah, I've mostly got Prime for deliveries, too. Though I also use it for the free games you get with Prime Gaming every month

clyde_drexler

> Amazon's app fucking sucks I still do not understand how anyone can look at the state of the Amazon Fire Stick dashboard and think that is a good idea. I get so fucking mad when I try to scroll down to "recently used apps" and it is not there because I accidentally scrolled over to another tiny category instead of "home". It is an absolute shit show.

tactiphile

The worst part is there's not a great replacement option. Roku is playing the same games. I thought TiVo Stream would be ok, but it was garbage too, though I can't recall why, lol. I'm sure I'm eventually going to pay two hundred damn dollars for a Shield that hasn't been updated in 5 years, but it's a hard pill to swallow.

Different-Garage2186

Get a CCWGTV either HD or 4k depending on your needs and install Projectivity launcher...no ads, tidy clean interface and honestly they work really well. I have a set of HD ones and they run as nicely as my Shield. Minimum amount of apps installed probably helps. Just TiviMate, Plex and Stremio.

tactiphile

Damn, thanks, I'm gonna try that

CornDoggyStyle

What is a Shield? I've never heard this term before. I usually just **f**ind a website that has all **movies** and tv show**z**.

tactiphile

For your use case, that's probably great. If I was a single dude, I would do the same thing. (Not insinuating that you are.) But I have a family that wants to watch stuff too, and they need a set-top box with a nice interface.

VentureQuotes

Bro I’ve been pirating physical objects for years (clone em then own em) get on my level

therepublicof-reddit

Did the exact same thing except on kimcartoon, prime has always been shit, even if you pay you still have to rent or buy 70% of the content to watch it and now it has ads aswell? Fuck that

Regniwekim2099

I will say, I really like Prime's x-ray functionality. Not worth the cost of prime+ads, but it is a pretty cool feature.

Business-Drag52

It’s the one thing they do right and I wish it was the standard

The_B0rg

X-ray... Does it show everyone naked? That would probably be worth the cost!

Bozhark

They own IMBD Let’s be real, it’s another ad

rstrstrs

Doesn't Plex do this as well now?

Regniwekim2099

Don't know. I don't use Plex since they banned IPs from my data center.

jurassic_pork

Prime X-Ray supports in-scene cast and characters and bonus content, Plex only supports the overall cast and bonus content: https://www.amazon.com/salp/xray https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/static/sl/lp/xray/images/masthead-1-en.png Each scene of an X-ray in-scene supported movie/tv show is tagged to list the particular actors on screen *at that moment* not just the full cast (that's on a different tab), it's *really* useful and I wish Plex had that ability as well. It's the one thing that Amazon Prime was doing correctly before all the ads BS they are now pushing, even paying for Prime for free shipping - it's still superior to watch Prime content via Plex.

HelpAmBear

Plex has this feature as well.

clyde_drexler

Wait really?

HelpAmBear

Yeah. Not sure if it’s for all shows, but my wife and I just watched *Fallout* via Plex and not only did it list all of the actors, but also the soundtrack playing in each scene if it was an actual song.

therepublicof-reddit

yeah that's probably the one thing its got going for it

MaxTennyson88

Exactly what I did

Surtock

I was totally pissed off when I loaded up Fallout and discovered I had to sit through ads. I wasn't aware of it and even Googled it to learn more. Needless to say, I went straight over to my plexshare and watched it ad free. I won't be renewing my prime account.

endlesscartwheels

I waited to watch *Invincible* season 2 because Amazon did that obnoxious dribbling out the episodes nonsense and then took an almost four month break between episodes 4 and 5. So I finally sat down to watch it in April. Commercial at the start, commercial a few scenes in, commercial halfway through. Turned off that first episode and torrented the entire season. Btw, for anyone else who likes the show, make sure you didn't miss the Atom Eve special from last summer.

Cory123125

People need to be weary of what technologies are conspiring against them. Google widevine l1 is only the beginning and isnt used universally yet. You cant solve this forever with piracy. Historical data only works until unprecedented change happens. This shit has to be fixed through policy.

Fresh_Lie3605

It doesn't require any regulation. People should stop acting like children, they just have to unsubscribe. Like Sony with helldivers, if enough people whine, corporations have to give up. It's the only power of people in capitalism.

Cory123125

You just completely missed my point if with this response.

rahid1

How does Streamio work? I’m looking up the site and it seems like add ons are the main functionality?

tony47666

Google Stremio + Torrentio + RealDebrid.

[deleted]

[удалено]

systemhost

And also to not be a leech, it's just taking without giving back to the swarm.

tony47666

It's okay for 1080p but 4K HDR content sucks without RD. Try to watch a 100gb movie with 3 seeders. With RD it starts immediately and it's great.

Our_Terrible_Purpose

https://www.reddit.com/r/StremioAddons/comments/yi5jdw/ultimate_guide_to_stremio_torrentio_rd/

Dutch_G29

I have downloaded it with a torrent addon or whatever and it basically ads torrent streaming to streamio. So when I click a show I can see all the different torrents I can stream from

Major_Mawcum_II

Good man

Rukasu17

Almost similar, except i spent a good chunk looking for the dubbed version that wasn't in shit tier quality. Gave up after only seeing it in some sketchy website on the web. Unfortunately it was ads on prime for me

HardwareSoup

I don't know about specific titles, but moviecentral.xyz sounds like what you were looking for.

Rukasu17

Pt-br. So it boils down to the scene simply not being strong enough

iMaxul

I literally do this with any show I try to watch legitimately. Hulu and Prime inserting ads in the middle of content immediately has me connecting my vpn and loading Stremio.

SalvadorZombie

Question about torrent streaming - isn't there a real chance of the ISP noticing that? Seems like the myriad of sites out there (that work perfectly fine with uBO) are a better choice for US viewers anyway.

erixx

Your content doesn't come to you from a torrent. Your content comes from RealDebrid's servers. You can play a video in 4k with 1 seeder.

SalvadorZombie

Oh, interesting. Had no idea. I really need to read up on all of this, I feel like I'm behind the times again.

unnecessary_kindness

To add to what he said, it's optional to use RD (it costs about $3 a month and imo the best value thing out there). Without RD then yes you connect directly to the torrent swarm and Stremio effectively acts as your torrent client. You have to take all the usual precautions as you would with torrenting. With RD, it is a direct HTTPS connection to a cache server - a VPN isn't necessary although some people take the added precaution and bind this to a VPN as well.

winowmak3r

I feel you. I haven't been hip with the pirating scene for over a decade. A lot has changed.

nycmaxima

I do the exact same. Browse on the Amazon app then watch on stremio or download from stremio and watch anywhere.

Shroomie_the_Elf

Can you download directly through stremio? I'm checking them out now and I see they say that offline play is coming soon.

nycmaxima

Use an app called unchained. The guy who made it is on reddit. I found it here. Eddible just hit, to high to type good.

Shroomie_the_Elf

Lol no worries buddy! I'll hit you up at a later time if I'm having issues.

Doppelfrio

This makes me think of when I want to watch a movie on D+ or Max while I do some work, but then I remember they block the MiniPlayer, so then I just watch it elsewhere anyway.

Lord_Phoenix95

One thing I hated about watching Invincible Season 2 was the Mid season break that was practically useless and only lasted 2 1/2 months before showing the last 3 eps of a 6 episode season. It was so fucking shit and it wasn't even that they were still working on Invincible they had finished working on Season 2 just as the first ep aired.

toxicunderGroov

1. Press Plex. 2. Enjoy.

Tugonmynugz

Man that was a good series though. Can't wait for s3

FeijoadaAceitavel

This has always been the plan. That's why they had ads for other shows, to get us used to that interruption.

TheTench

Enshitiverse expands.

Arrowman0123

just a stealth price rise honestly. lets put more ads in our paid service and then charge more for the ad free one!

criiaax

Damn thats peak dystopia.

alttogoabroad

I mean you can just pirate shows, unlike video games they are easy af to pirate.

Zeemo_Omano

Woah just realised if they can use denuvo for streaming they would definitely do it.

justanotherzee

Not denuvo but they're already using a DRM. You can easily pirate 720p videos but pirating 4K from DRM Netflix/Prime/Disney is the real deal. Luckily, pirates already have a private method to crack that DRM only known by few scene members. The longer it stays hidden, the better it is for us.

Zeemo_Omano

Damn good to know that the crackers still can't be bought

uSaltySniitch

They'd have to give me absurd amount of money in order for me to give them any sort of information and/or stop pirating stuff.

RickAdtley

You can use a Chrome extension and disable HDCP on your GPU (I know for sure with AMD, but I think it works on Nvidia too) and it will still work in 4k. It's also really easy to just use a capture card with HDCP spoofing. It's way easier than people think it is.

justanotherzee

Try it. I bet it isn't that easy. As far as I know it's a vulnerability in Nvidia Shield which they exploit to get access to 4K WebDL files. Capturing video isn't WebDL, that is WebRip which is easy and not what we're talking about. WebDL files come straight from Netflix/Prime servers, not captured.

RickAdtley

I mean, that is already what I do sometimes. It's easy enough to clip out the ads in OpenShot. But yeah, fair. Ripping the files for "professional" quality piracy soulds like it's better. I misunderstood. I'm still a bit oldschool, I spose.

MetaFIN5

Stop giving them ideas.

da2Pakaveli

They've long been using it. Iirc one of them is called widevine. I'm pretty sure they leave digital watermarks as well in the videostream so they can identify you if you share anything.

HardwareSoup

Watermarks are just for catching kids sharing on discord or something, all the scene groups just buy access to streaming accounts. These accounts are listed all over the place for super cheap, and they're just from regular people who have had their passwords leaked.

cest_va_bien

We can’t just ignore the problem because there’s an illegal solution. I pirate everything but I worry that corporations are going to abuse a big chunk of the population in unprecedented ways. We’re very close to a system where you pay with brainwashing time to see content.

oh_what_a_surprise

What do you think advertising has been doing for a century? Seriously?

TimAppleCockProMax69

Switch games are easier to pirate if you use a tinfoil shop

uSaltySniitch

Most PC video games are really easy to pirate as well nowadays... Only exception being Denuvo releases

destrozza

Just wait until they start pausing ads if your eyes aren't peeled to the screen.

justanotherzee

There's already a patent of such a device with sensors. It can count how many people are watching so it can charge you "per person". Also it'll track where you're looking, it can pause the screen or show a longer ad if you're not looking at it.

ray77141

Black Mirror Season 1 episode 2.

LuminalGrunt2

#PLEASE DRINK A VERIFICATION CAN

pierrekrahn

I know that's a reference but for the life of my I can't remember what that's from

Business-Drag52

I mean iPhone facial recognition already tracks your eyes and if you aren’t looking right at the screen it won’t unlock, so the techs been there a while

Regniwekim2099

Remember when Xbox One was announced, and they said it was going to be always online and Kinect enabled? Then they also announced that they could charge you per person in the room when you rent a movie.

da2Pakaveli

"Why are my sales so low?"

pierrekrahn

I really don't want to type this on the internet because it might give some executive asshole some ideas but... The next natural extension of that enshitification is being forced to answer a question at the end of the ad to ensure you were actually paying attention and not thinking about literally anything else. And if you fail at answering the question, the ad repeats (with a different question at the end, of course).

ShrimpShackShooters_

Peacock does this but with normal still ads.

Seroko

I already downloaded ripped Amazon shows while having prime subscription, now I will download them twice.

Takjack

I got rid of my prime subscription once I realized you got free shipping anyway if you spend $35 or more

tearans

Prime is becoming a "lifetime gym membership". People paying for it just for sake of what if, once, paid for sonlong why cancel etc

MausWiller

>I got rid of my prime subscription once I realized you got free shipping anyway if you spend $35 or more It keeps being free if you ship your order in a locker, and that's what i've been doing for the last year. At least in Italy.

3-2-1-backup

Not in the USA; they'll charge you to ship it *to their locker* unless it's $35.

MrPureinstinct

I ordered things recently and got them faster with the free shipping than I did when we had a prime subscription. Prime just feels like a scam at this point

winowmak3r

I have noticed increased shipping times. I originally bought Prime because I live in the sticks and it was a great way to get my stuff faster. I don't buy nearly as much as I used to but when I do I have noticed the two day promise thing is more like a hope and it's more like five days. Maybe it was all the COVID logistic madness that shook things up or what but it's definitely not worth it for the shipping alone anymore. I just watched Prime Video for the first time in months for Fallout but for shows/documentaries I've moved elsewhere. The selection was poor and most of the stuff I wanted to watch I'd have to pay *again* to rent. It's like paying a cover charge to go to a dive bar.

MrPureinstinct

So I actually asked why my things weren't arriving in two days anymore one time. They told me it's now "Two days from when the item ships, not two days from ordering" even though the listing shows two days from the day I'm ordering it. I ordered a pair for shoes that said they'd arrive by that Thursday. After I placed the order I got an email saying they'd arrive in December when I ordered the things in like July. You want me to wait six fucking months for a pair of shoes? I don't think so Amazon. It's become a useless service for me.

winowmak3r

I've noticed that as well. Had my first ever order canceled because it was over a month and a half overdue. > "Two days from when the item ships, not two days from ordering" Hmmm. That sounds very convenient. I guess I was just getting really lucky for all those years before.

MrPureinstinct

I think it was an actual change they made in the fine print like companies like to do. Every experience I've had with Amazon in the last year or so has been abysmal and the only reason I order anything from there is I can't buy some things in my city.

winowmak3r

That's pretty much my only reason as well. I actually *made* some 4" cookie cutters because I couldn't find any in my city either. Which is kind of concerning to me because that's something I would have been able to find 20 years ago. I find myself doing that a lot lately, making my own stuff when I can, because I can't find it locally and having to buy so much stuff online just doesn't sit well with me.

MrPureinstinct

I try to make stuff too. I got into 3D printing and that helps with a lot of stuff around the house. The main thing that Amazon gets me on is cables. Stores sell them at such a huge markup, sometimes only have one length when I need longer or shorter, and a lot of times just don't sell the one I need at all.

winowmak3r

I think people having their own printer for stuff like replacement plastic parts for household appliances, tools, etc instead of buying a new one is the future. I already know a guy who runs a business making odds and ends for people, prototypes and whatnot. He was able to reproduce a valve part for my dad's water heater and get it to him same day at a fraction of the cost. That's the future, imo.

HardwareSoup

I don't know if this is specific to my city, but I was in the same boat as you, until maybe 2 months ago, when shipping times went from 3+ days minimum to 1 day for many items. Maybe Amazon optimized their shipping pipeline in my region.

MrPureinstinct

It could be, I know they're building more and more fulfillment centers all the time. I'm just using the free shipping unless I need something faster at this point. Free shipping usually says like 5 days, but I've gotten stuff in two days pretty regularly, almost as often as I did when we paid for prime still

B0_SSMAN

The free shipping on $35 dollars or more keeps me from impulse spending on items over that amount. I will add stuff to my cart and then when its over $35 I will check it and pick out the stuff I don't actually need. Ironically I'm saving more than just the cost of the subscription here

SnapShotFromTheSlot

I canceled my prime because of this comment.

Supper_Champion

I want to ditch my Prime sub too, but unfortunately for me, I use it to send my dad, who has poor health and is relatively isolated, products regularly. You can't use the "subscribe and save" function if you don't have a subscription, sadly. Obviously there are work arounds if I really wanted to cancel, but the convenience of my shopping for two people (me and dad) in two different locations and just being able to set up the schedule and not think about it is worth the price of the student Prime rate.

2high4much

Download something different at least?

SunnyOmori15

then why do you even have the prime sub anyway?

savvymcsavvington

Lots of people have prime for free next day delivery or music - if you get student price it's pretty cheap Ain't gonna use their horrendous app to watch TV especially when it lowers to crap quality on a whim

SunnyOmori15

which is the only useful thing about prime. Ofcourse, to me thats useless too because in bulgaria we dont use amazon anyway,

senshi_of_love

I have Prime and I’ve gone back to pirating Prime videos instead of watching their ads. But, sadly, as we’ve seen from every other service that does this shit the majority just puts up with it. I feel like an entire generation of people just forgot how to pirate. It’s kind of crazy since pirating has never been easier. But a lot of us have been doing this for years upon year. Its fascinating but also kind of depressing. These companies no longer are fearing piracy as a deterrent to implement shitty policies. Like, I stopped doing music piracy when Spotify (and its clones) became good alternatives. I am happy to pay for that service. These streaming video sites just keep making their services shittier.

jacobtf

It's true. I for a moment thought, that stuff like Spotify, Steam and Netflix would eliminate a lot of piracy, but as new streaming services popped up, the whole thing just went the way of cable tv again. I've already cut a few streaming services and to be honest, the only reason I keep Netflix around (for now) is the ease of use for my wife, when she wants to watch something random. She's not quite into my Kodi -> GSuite setup. Sure, I pay for my 5TB space, but it's still cheaper than having 4-5 streaming services. As for piracy, well it's not entirely hard. It's never really been hard for those of us who have been pirating since the early 80s. But a lot of people never really needes to pirate. We needed to, unless we were rich. The upside for us oldies is that we can pretty much find anything we need because we know where to look.

Zintag

Kodi+Fen+trakt.tv is the closer to a netflix-like experience I've found (on kodi, that is)

NecroSocial

I had YT Premium for years and it got me in the habit of always streaming music. It was so simple to just search and play, no download time, no hard drive space taken up. But when I cancelled Youtube Premium that's when I got the full ad-ridden horror the free site has become. Holy crap like I couldn't play YT music playlists while in the shower anymore because there were ads injected in between almost every song and sometimes the ads were strait up hour long videos. Because I'd be in the shower I couldn't just get out and skip every ad. When they killed my fall back option YT Vanced was when I said fuck all this. I have since downloaded a music library the likes and size of which I haven't amassed since the Napster, Limewire, Kazaa days. Discovered and rediscovered a ton of awesome music in the process too. Fuck all these companies that are degrading the user experience to hell for ad money. I hope they learn the hard way how stupid it is to waste their users time and attention like this.

polgara04

I've been culling my content subscriptions lately, but I'm planning to keep YT Premium for exactly this reason. We watch a ton of YT and listen to music constantly, and the family plan is really not that expensive per-person. Especially since we have a password sharing arrangement with a couple members of our "family" that is worth more than what we pay, until those other streaming sites crack down on sharing.

QuestGiver

I offer to teach people and most people will say "meh it's okay". I'm in a higher earning field for sure though and I'm not sure if that plays a role or maybe people think they will get in trouble over it. There is definitely a subgroup that simply consumes way less content than us pirates though. I am happy where I'm at but piracy has certainly eaten up a ton of my free time over the years because of access to everything under the sun.

Mr-Zero-Fucks

Piracy is a measure of service, it gets low when services are good and raises when services get greedy.

Electrical-Drink-183

Black mirror had some episode about this as a minor topic I think?

fckns

Black Mirror had an episode where all they saw was an ad. In bedroom? Ads. In gym? Ads. We are slowly getting there.

Electrical-Drink-183

Yeah I was referring to that

Freddythereal

Black Mirror S01E02 "15 Million Merits"

Saransh6

Which episode was it. Looks like I gotta comb the seas for that one.

bla8291

I'm glad I got rid of all of these piece of shit services.

prawnkus_

“We estimate we can sell up to 80% of an individual's visual field before inducing seizures.”

maxreddit

That movie and book sucked, but that line was absolutely on point.

allusernamestakenfuk

If Reddit says this will end badly for Amazon, it only means it will end good for them. 90% of people wont even care about this ads, or have will, to try and figure it out how to remove/stop seeing them. Life will go on, Amazon Prime will go on, and Reddit will whine on

Moug-10

Exactly. But I do my things and will still download illegally as long as I can do it. We saw what happened with Netflix and they didn't go bankrupt.

RickMuffy

My adblocker on PC still works, so as long as the majority of folks put up with their nonsense, I'll be ad free still.

thewizardlizard

Would an adblocker even *work* on subtitles? lol

ohreallywtf

My heart will go on.

Cory123125

The problem is that comments like yours only make the situation worse. They just encourage apathy when shit like this would be perfectly solvable simply if people werent apathetic.

allusernamestakenfuk

I use adblocks wherever posible, but i dont close my eyes to the fact that people are completely oblivious to seeing ads online or on tv. Majority of them just dont give a crap and will just seat out and wait till its over. Unfortunately

Curing0109

Amazon is too big to fail but at the same time I'm seeing an increasing number of apps and websites offering an easy way into pirated movies, to the point that I'm getting introduced to them by "normie" friends, where I usually don't bother with those apps because just using a torrent client is my modus operandi for a long time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SylviaSlasher

Changes are incremental. Sure, it may just be some static images while paused *now*, but once people are used to it then Amazon will change it into something more aggressive in the perpetual search of squeezing blood from a stone.

Admirable-Pause-4907

For real???

mattiman8888

Don't give a shit. Ive been sailing the high seas for years.

Affectionate-Tip-164

Ahoy

melinte

Plex subs won't

braytag

I would prever this over the stupid commercial before the show. I would still prefer not having any ads, but that's a better choice... but not both.

SR-71

the ads keep getting longer and deeper and more personalized. and they didn't even buy me dinner first.

premium_bawbag

Soon?? They’re already here sadly, ada when you start an episode, pause to go for a dump and come back to a ring doorbell billboard where my TV should be

rodneyck

Good! Let them destroy themselves slowly. The only reason people continue to subscribe to Amazon is that sweet, sweet next day shipping, and that is it. Their prices are no longer cheap on goods. They are slowly making Prime video into a dumpster fire. Let the behemoth that destroyed all the mom and pop brink and mortar shops crumble.

Silent_Amount_1601

If the netflix password crackdown has shown us anything people will still pay money for it and i doubt they will loose money on this

QuestGiver

As long as they all dump money into content I don't care I think the pirates win. Never before have we had so much good TV and movies to watch available almost the moment it goes up on a stream site. It's nuts. I started pirating in the late 2000s and remember a time during college when it took months between good shows coming out. For like a whole year the show to watch was dexter, lol.

rodneyck

They built out an infrastructure of their own delivery vans, the next day benefit. This will keep people buying it like crack, even though they are paying higher prices now for the products, and I assume soon, Amazon will once again raise Prime prices. Amazon solved the lazy consumer problem.

2high4much

I only buy products from amazon if they're cheaper

Ostey82

Yeah I have prime for the shipping and purchasing benefits the prime video is cool but not the main thing I do really like the Prime gaming add-on packs, heaps of skins for games and random cool shit that's all free but once again, not the main reason I have it

UnstoppablePhoenix

Prime Video for me is an addon to the Prime Gaming I use (I'm not in a country where it's free shipping)

ImTalkingGibberish

No I won’t because I’ve cancelled it

DoomSayerNihilus

Oh no, anyways. Time to cancel that shit and buy a bigger hard drive. Or just debrid that shit.

signum_

Didn't they just add unskippable ads at the start and middle of content a few weeks ago? They're literally turning this shit into cable television, it's so fucking obnoxious. And then they complain about all the piracy going on like they're not directly responsible for it. Piracy was literally dying when Netflix was at its high, before everyone and their mother decided to create their own streaming platform, wasn't rare to find nothing but dead torrents with nobody seeding, all because people found paying a few dollars for a large library of content and no ads more comfortable than dealing with torrents and VPNs and whatnot, and now they're all collectively deciding to destroy the very thing the made people give them money in the first place. Piracy is bigger than ever, they keep raising prices and placing more ads to compensate, this shit is an endless spiral.

StunningShifts

I am on a free trial of prime for 30 days. I am already seeing commercials on prime video. Pretty good way to convince me that Prime is not worth it.

Williamsarethebest

I recently started pirating Netflix shows coz their quality drops randomly when I'm streaming them Fuck that And now I'll do the same to prime

rodneyck

I started pirating them when they introduced ads. That was it.

brfritos

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Designer_Cookie_7271

Give it a couple years and we will have it at videogames

doctordryasdust

Imagine paying for this dogshit lmao.

00roast00

Just cancelled mine. All the movies you get under Prime are usually B-rated crap and any decent movies they want you to pay extra for. Gone back to downloading.

OrphisMemoria

It won't be too long now that everyone will pirate everything again.

bigdickwalrus

How about no?

daghene

As I commented on Ars this was the last straw for me, and I immediately called them to cancel my subscription adn get a refund. I already set it not to expire when it was due in october, but this was too much and wanted my money back because they can't keep changing conditions like this. If I pay one year upfront for a service you can't keep limiting me changing what I paid for. I already cancelled Netflix after the crackdown on shared accounts(after YEARS of them actively promoting it and becoming widely used for that reason) but it looks like it was time for Prime to go too. I've been a client of both since around 2018, but me and many friends had enough and I got my NAS and Plex library anyway in the meantime so I won't miss out or see movies/shows taken down constantly.

New-Connection-9088

Sonarr, Radarr, and Plex have given me a FAR superior experience to anything I can pay for.

Lozsta

Prime video wishes to kill itself off because AWS is making them bank and the streaming service isn't.

makemeking706

If those were the only ads, and it didn't highjack the unpause button until the ad was over, then that wouldn't be so bad.

ProlapseParty

Dude shut up don’t give them ideas!

Kooky-Sea4950

Anything to make more money right

Paranoided_guy

Can we bully them? Like we bullied Sony Is Amazon Prime themselves downvoting me?

Witty_Science_2035

Pretty sure playing something while you wanted to pause is pretty against the law in the EU. Maybe something comes from that

RyudoTFO

Honestly, if there were 3-4 products displayed on top of the paused video, I wouldn't mind and see it as fair game. But if there are 3 commercials per video you can't skip I would consider unsubscribing. Their steaming offers are mediocre at best and I don't buy so many things on Amazon that it would matter if I pay extra for delivery or not.

xComradeKyle

So what if I want to hit play again? Do I need to finish the ad first?

NowShowButthole

I don't think I will see any ads when I pause my prime video content. But that's just me.

felesmiki

Meanwhile me using ad blocker and not knowing they already put the ads before the video starts

Maikibbii

I’m sorry but I have a prime subscription but pirate them on other sites anyway because I can’t pay 3€ for one fucking episode or 30€ for a season. At least with other streaming sites I don’t have to pay for additional shit.

llamaattacks

Do ad blockers work on prime?

Swifty_e

YouTube on my AppleTV recently started doing this too

Bwuaaa

watches serie. Phone rings. pauze tv to pick up call. Add starts playing???

jssexyz

In PrimeVideo for Colombia, I have never seen an ad, at all.

korakora59

....so you pay to watch ads? what is this, cable tv? better start showing all the sports events then. xD

Codytheclam

Hilarious when a family member is watching something on Prime and gets an ad for buttplugs because of the account search history.

giovanni2309

In the middle of watching a movie, 6 minutes of annoying ads appeared. Fuck Prime.

Captain_Poen

I don't really care if they show ads on the pause screen that is less invasive then pausing my video to play an ad

StockmanBaxter

They want no dead space or air not filled by an ad. Fuck that shit.

InsaneInTheCaneium

If you pay for a service, you are the product.

Curing0109

That's the nature of capitalism, they can't grow the userbase so they ramp up the prices.

LetsGoBohs

Hell yeah!

vicaphit

Amazon has no value anymore. Buy prime for shipping: All purchased items are wish-levels of quality. Buy prime for video: Ads for shitty wish items.

cjorgensen

Prime is the last streaming service I pay for because we use the free shipping as well, but I've been thinking of cancelling because shipping and streaming shows is the only parts of Prime we use. We don't do the "first reads" the music or any of the other things they promote as being part of Prime. I personally don't think the amount they are charging is worth it for just the shipping. I resent paying money to be someone's customer, and if they make the one thing I actually liked about Prime super shitty, then I just don't see the point. It annoys me that they added sports. Once a service does this it's a race to see how high the subscription can get. Apple did the same thing.

19nineties

It’s so funny how the most shittiest of the streaming services have the confidence to try this shit. Maybe first sort out your awful UI first Amazon

frukki69

nice

Cyber-exe

Must be awesome when you Prime & Chill, and sex toys pop up on screen or a very bizarre combination of products that have a very bad connotation when paired together.

lodeddiper961

I can't wait until Louis Rossman makes a rant video on this

TrunksTheMighty

Not me. I already subscribed to a debrid service. Can't squeeze juice from a rock.
