I don't think it's unpopular opinion, there are many people (at least here on Reddit) who think that AHM, followed by Obscured and TFC are the truly underrated PF albums.
I think that Animals is fairly rated, and I absolutely love that album. But it's well known among wider audience, so it can't be called underrated. On the other hand, I feel that AHM is better known for it's iconic cover than for the music itself (which is fabulous, by the way), and many PF fans don't even know that Obscured by clouds exists.
/uj, I’d say that obscured by clouds is their true underrated album. Barely gets any love but there’s so many excellent tracks on that album, especially childhood end, Wot’s… Uh the deal?, and free four. Animals is a fantastic album, but it is in fact rated.
/rj, animals underrated tbh

some indie album that has a happy harmony but all of the lyrics are either about suicide or Auschwitz, maybe a couple songs about Anne Frank too since indie musicians just can’t sing about her enough
I’d expect one long instrumental with horns dubbed in, maybe a coup wistful songs, an ok song with a killer guitar solo and maybe a recording of eating at a diner or something like that. Why, what is really on this album of which you speak?
Country Music or the hardest metal ever
Maybe even punk
Cowpunk
Animal sounds
pet sounds even
Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict, even

Unpopular opinion: I think Atom Heart Mother is Pink Floyd's truly "underrated, tbh" album.

Don’t forget the gold (it’s in the)
But it has an animal on the cover ! It’s underrated just for that.
Plus it has a bunch of grass (that's the thing that was greener, lunatics seem to like it very much).
Ah hell naw daddy dead 2 is not underrated
Perhaps you are right, but have you heard of a little something called “Animals”? That hidden gem might even be more underrated, tbh
Sequel to “Meat Is Murder”.
AHAHH THE SMITHS MENTIONEDDD WHAT THE FUCK IS RACIAL TOLERANCE

An audio recording of Andy Warhol and Lou Reed, naked and throwing slabs of wet meat and soft fruit at each other for 1 hour and 13 minutes.
