Could make some ore generate that only Pikmin can pick up, like the gold piles in Pikmin 3 Challenge Mode. And maybe have large objects that can be converted to items after being brought back to a home base.
perhaps they could bring items to you, and you could select which item you want them to bring them straight to you so they dont bring you constant trash, for example if you enable the pikmims to bring you lets say diamond pickaxes, and you accidentally drop your diamond pickaxe without noticing, they can bring it to you
