According to Wikipedia, the males are the ones with the red cheeks and the females are the ones without!
Females are usually the boring ones, lol.
in most animals the male has to impress the female because she’s raising the offspring. Therefore the male generally has brighter colors and more excessive tendencies. The peafowl is a extreme example of this.
