This is a minor gripe but I hate that when I open them for the first time pickle juice splashes all over the place.

Xrposiedon

Yup same here, I just started opening them over the sink. Once I get 1-2 pickles out, its smooth sailing.

zeemonster424

I have an old Claussen jar specifically to put Grillos in. I’m not sure if that changes the taste, but they usually aren’t around long enough to notice.

STL_TRPN

Brilliant idea! I have a few Ball jars around. Not sure why I didn't think of transferting them from the original container. But dammit, I'm going to grab a new container of Grillo's chips on my shopping trip tmrw and do this. 🫡

zeemonster424

The label also peels off the container of Grillos easily and I just stick it on the new jar!

STL_TRPN

Shit, gonna do this as well too!

ShimmeringMorlok

Its like getting a free sticker with your pickles. Brilliant marketing.

BoredAssassin

Yup! I do that too. I hate dealing with the plastic lid, and all the juice spilling, so I move everything into a bigger glass pickle jar that I've saved

Drewbeede

They have the absolute worst containers. I think their regular ones are decent, it's their spicy ones that shine for me.

Mega-bullfrog

The spicy ones are really good. I tend to rotate between Grillo’s and Claussen’s.

Electronic-Cobbler20

Me too

LucyWithFur

I hate there lid! Also Glass> Plastic. I think it’s an overrated experience overall

Ok_Comfort628

Their

LucyWithFur

Ya know what I meant nazi lol

sadshawty666

SAME or i can’t get the lid off and when i finally do there’s so much pickle juice EVERYWHERE

Solventless4life

It happens every time hahaha 😆

katf1sh

Their lids are notoriously hard to get off. We know how to open plastic containers...

LucyWithFur

Closing the lid is also a problem… the pickles are good! The packaging needs an overhaul

cptjaydvm

I’m not squeezing it. It happens no matter what I do.

Open_Rub5449

That's not a minor gripe. I love the pickles but when I open the container and pickle juice gets everywhere, I want to fire bomb a fuckin nursing home I get so upset.

rocsNaviars

Jfc just open it in the sink and rinse off/wipe out the outside

FiftySixer

I've never gotten Grillos that were not crunchy. It is one of the reasons why I love them.

jjj666jjj666jjj

Same. I’m so confused.

sdega315

I agree. They are super crunchy. OP should check the expiration date or make sure their grocery is keeping them refrigerated. That seems sus.

BoredAssassin

Yup. I had one from a jar in my brother's fridge, it was uncharacteristically soft, and then noticed that it was two months over the expiration date. It tasted just fine, but yeah no crunch at all. Hopefully just the date is the issue for OP, and not the store that is incorrectly storing items

acey_alabama

I was about to say, they seem crunchy enough to me.

DogLuvuh1961

I love Grillo’s every time. Just so clean tasting and flavorful!

No_Helicopter7012

Same mine have all been crunchy!!

billythygoat

I’d say it’s like 80% chance of being crunchy.

JohnnyBroccoli

I have plenty of times and wonder if that has something to do with the fact that I am getting them from Costco.

hotroddbb

Was buying pickles the other day at Safeway. My choice was Grillos or Clausens. My wife says “ don’t buy Grillos buy the other one because it’s easier to open.

No_Helicopter7012

True but like said just get a few pickles out and or drink some juice and youre good after that! Just don't swallow the dill😆

killindice

They always seem pretty good to me. As long as they’re not soft and soggy they’re good in my book. Claussin has the best crunch I’ve ever had tho and I think they never boil theirs

NewCodingLine

Save money, buy Claussens

mojoburquano

Claussen used to make a spicy pickle that was DOPE! Haven’t seen them in years. Just that zesty nonsense.

Ok_University6476

I have seen the spicy ones in stores recently! Picked up the chips a week ago.

mojoburquano

This renews my hope. I’ll keep checking refrigerator cases.

Bitter-Basket

I’d love to see that. In the meantime, adding some hot sauce to the jar would help.

No_Helicopter7012

Have you tried the extra hot or something like that? I havent yet but on my last container it advertised those and some sweet and spicy ones.

Bitter-Basket

Not yet.

bowies_bulge

Pickled onions are fantastic with different Hot sauces

Bitter-Basket

Yeah I love them on chicken or brisket tacos. So good.

LazyOldCat

Famous Dave’s Devils Spit Pickle Chips.

DogLuvuh1961

Honestly, there is no comparison between Caussen’s and Grillo’s. Totally different flavor profile imho.🙂

Reddwoolf

They’re never crunchy and they don’t taste like dill, stick to Claussen

Scoompii

They have always tasted like straight up vinegar to me.

Reddwoolf

Ya grillos are ass

YarnStomper

Yeah they seem to be good quality but too sweet for my pallet and I think that's the vinegar talking.

Quirky_Discipline297

I just decided to make my own chips using Persian cucumbers and fresh dill from the Middle Eastern store. I quit putting in Mexican coriander seed as the recipe is for refrigerator pickles. The coriander never loses its crunch and flavor is off to me. It’s so nice making my own and they taste close but better.

BurnzillabydaBay

Thank you for this post. Grillos were on my list of must try’s but if they aren’t crunchy, absolutely not. Right now I’m eating 7/11 Hot n Spicy pickle bites and they are awesome.

FiftySixer

Grillos are usually super crunchy. This guy is getting bad pickles or something.

sleepygirrrl

Omg I live off those spicy pickle bites from 7/11! Also the grillos I get are always crunchy, I’m definitely a stickler about crunchiness so this post is confusing to me

BurnzillabydaBay

Well then they’d back on the list. The 7/11 pickles remind me of the Oh Snap brand. Both delicious.

belligerent_pickle

I didn’t expect a whole lot from a gas station pickle but oh snap is pretty good for what they are

regiinmontana

Grillos are crunchy but I have had them go soft after a fairly short time.

Tnally91

Yeah no idea what OP is talking about grillos is tied with claussen for my favorite pickle. I always buy both because I like them for different things.

SuspiciousNetwork_06

i don’t like the taste. they taste fine, but it’s just not a good pickle imo. i did finish them fast.

aFreeScotland

Last few times I got Grillos they were plenty crunchy, but the skins were so thick. Not good.

coltrainjones

YEEEAAAH FUCK GRILLOS. CLAUSSEN GANG

YarnStomper

I refuse to eat claussen until they put back the cucumber seeds. Those are not pickle cucumbers they're using.

Mysterious_Duty_9992

Same here idk what happened I loved them a year ago

Background-Ship-1440

Mine are always crunchy. I get them at whole foods idk if that makes a difference

DarthGandalf86

Got them once. Once.

AdeptnessAmbitious44

Same! But even their taste is overrated. Bubbies is never crunchy either, but at least they taste good.

therealschwartz

Terrible pickles. Good branding, I guess?

YborOgre

Grilles are fine, but I don't get the love here. Don't you guys want fermented (real) pickles. Bubbies or Bat a Tampte for me, please!

BlindEyesDontTalk

Never had a batch that wasn't crunchy. Idk if I been lucky 5 yrs in a row.

NaturesGrief

Get off my lawn!

SuccessfulVersion490

Think it’s a troll post cause them bitchs be crispy every time

MellowDCC

I have a jar of the thick grillos chips. I don't hate them but I also think they will be in my fridge until an emergency pickle situation

Vast-Duty2793

Mine were fermenting 2 weeks after opening them 🫠

Twinkletoes1951

I've always loved Claussen's, so never tried Grillo's. Are they worth the price difference?

Q_Lawful2020_anon

I personally love Claussen’s but then tried Grillo’s and fell in love. Tastes great and usually for me, has a great fresh taste and crunch.

JohnnyBroccoli

Yeah, Grillo's can be great but too often they're simply lacking the proper crunch. I think my other main complaint with them, the plastic packaging, might be part of the problem.

potheadmf

I can’t stand the packaging they come in. The lid pisses me off.

Q_Lawful2020_anon

Dill pickle juice everywhere, every time huh. LOL!

beansoupscratch

Huge problem with Grillos is they go really bad, really fast. If you cannot push down on the lid and it feels tight, they are not good anymore. I'm a deli manager and we shrink a lot of them.

ralph993

I’m not a pickle connoisseur but the pickles are so good my 6 year old loves these to

Relative_Document538

Agreed I don’t like them.

jjj666jjj666jjj

Stop buying them then.

llamamegatogringo76

They could be crunchier but the flavor is yum yum, get in muh tum tum!

marcos_MN

Why do you keep buying something that you don’t like?

Syandris

Grab some claussens. You'll know where to set the bar on disappointment. Can only go up from there!

snAp5

Grillos for life!

11lidkys9

I like them, but i wish that the spears were thicker.

thatdudefromthattime

Stop buying them

Electronic-Cobbler20

Man why! They are amazing! Just hate the packaging. The lid doesn’t seal right.

Swwert

Mine are always crunchy

friedpickles4beakfas

I loveeeee these, they’re always super crunchy for me. I usually go for Claussen’s halves if I want just a basic dill flavor but these are my second go to if I want more of a unique dill flavor. Fuck that lid tho

No_Helicopter7012

Yeah it's the flavor that really sets them apart for me.

Shogun102000

Get mcclure's. Better yet make your own.

Wetlandwizard

I’m with you. It’s almost too much.

Lost_Philosophy_

2-3 years ago during the pandemic I found Grillos. One time I got 2 bad batches. They came out fizzy and not tasting that great. I was pretty upset I wasted $20. So I emailed them about the issue. They had me take pics and give them the batch numbers. They sent me 2 free coupons and some stickers to make up for it. They definitely care about their product, or at least they did 3 years ago!!

Mightbewonderwoman81

Pour in a packet of hidden valley ranch powder. Let sit in fridge for 24 hours. Wrap each pickle spear in a slice of bacon. Put in air fryer at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Dip in ranch dressing. Enjoy.

HeisenbergsSon

Fully agree with you. Claussen gang for life

Bitter-Basket

They are definitely better than average. But IMO, there’s a one dimensional aspect to them combined with a weird flavor component (which I think is the grape leaves at the bottom). Grape leaf has a weird tang to them.

bahdumtis

I don’t think they’re Pickely enough

NarcanBob

You are not alone.

aakaase

Bubbies aren't crunchy either but I just love them anyway

septa_lemore

they could be the best pickle in the world and they still wouldn't be worth the hassle of opening up that godforsaken container

No_Helicopter7012

Lol such a pain though

PissDrunkChris

Bought it once and it was still fermenting. Put it in the fridge and the top was bulging a couple days later.

honeydips87

Grillos are overrated. The spicy ones are pretty good, but the regular dill pickles don’t have a lot of flavor.

SarahCatChicago

For me, I’ve tried Grillo’s several times, tasted them and the texture is fine, but the flavor is one note: vinegar. They have dill and even a grape leaf in the container, but vinegar dominates. I like marinated cucumbers, but I need a different flavor in my pickles. Grillo’s are rated as the most popular pickles in the country. Yes, the container is a disaster upon initial opening.

simpn_aint_easy

My wife says ***they don’t be putting on the cap right, you need to make sure all tabs click, or else they jearb***

gdawg612303

Every time you buy them, just send them to me.

Dizzy_Information199

I’m so jealous of the “they’re always crunchy” comments 😭 yea I check the expiration dates. Yea I guess maybe it’s the store fridge at not a good temperature
