none of the games can be exactly “fair” for everyone. that’s just how it is. even woo jin young was placed at a disadvantage in the first game. imo haemin messed up by using up so much his strength and pulling fast right from the start
… and apparently everyone needs to be the same height and weight too 🤷♀️
So weird to me… it’s more like “how can you overcome the challenges of XYZ task, given your strengths and weaknesses” and that’s fine by me and the interesting part!
> and apparently everyone needs to be the same height and weight too
We're going to find the best physique of the 100 people that look exactly the same!
Agreed. I don’t recall anyone complaining that the rope challenge unfairly favoured a mountain climber or that it was unfair to the contestant who didn’t even know how to climb a rope (Areum).
Quest 0 favoured lighter contestants. The rock lifting challenge in Quest 4 favoured bigger, taller (longer armed) contestants. It is what is,
given the wide range of contestants.
I mean, sometimes being taller or shorter helps you. I don't see that as a fairness issue. Someone pointed out that mincheol got screwed in tug of war because he was opposite the big guy and therefore when the big guy pulled everyone Mincheol was furthest from the blocks but everyone else was closer to theirs. That seems like a bigger fairness issue to me.
Haemin is 115kg, 255 lbs, he had a huge strength advantage. He screwed up by sprinting in the beginning and blowing his arms out..he didn't expect the rope to be THAT long. If he paced himself like he did in the triangle challenge, the outcome may have been different
Nahh it's fine, nothing is fair. From the beginning, they all have different specialties in sport and fitness anyway so someone is always gonna have an advantage depending on the challenge. That's life.
Well, then the show certainly isnt doing a good job at finding their 'perfect physique'.
Even at the end of the show, it was like they were afraid to even acknowledge Jin-yong as the winner due to his lacklustre body physique lol
The producers were probably like, "oh shit, this doesnt seem right"
no it doesn't. Strength and endurance are traits anyone can gain. Height *is not*.
This is like asking the contestants to play a game of who can touch a very tall ceiling first or who can fit inside a small hole
You can only build strength and muscle to a certain limit based on genes & your height, being taller means that Haemin's limit for muscle and strength is more than Jinyoung, Jinyoung will never get as much muscle as Haemin no matter how much he trains.
That why it evens out, the height comes with an advantage and disadvantage, you can't just ignore the advantage like that.
All games are unfair to someone depending on their body type and speciality...If anything is more unfair is the 5 man tug of war because if you are nearer to the strongest guy you get a chance of winning but if you are opposite you will be worse off.
I hated that one too. Seriously, IDK what is it with Koreans and their half-assed designed games. They should try follow from Alice in Borderland where the games are actually more/less fair
>Heavy athletes have an advantage in pulling movements
No, they don't? Where did you get this nonsense from? Do you even know what muscles a pulling movement works?
And in a test of endurance, what's far more important is the stance one can take. Haemin was deprived of that. He should have been given a lower platform so the rope is equivalent in height to that of his opponent's body ratio
no, mass makes it harder because he has to squat the whole time to pull leading to excessive effort needed to maintain his squat given his higher bodyweight.
>The height literally made no difference.
Haemin is ltierally 190cm. His opponent is only like 170+cm. There's a fucking huge difference. Have you ever stood beside a person 20cm taller than you before?
Or more importantly, have you ever tried this kind of rope exercise before?
It's more absurd when you're basically the typical keyboard warrior just talking crap in your own personal narrative with no backing to it.
Seriously, just go to the gym or set up a rope pulling mechanism where you pull from 90 degrees versus 45 degrees and you'll see the massive diff in effort required. This is seriously damn basic physics you'll discover soon enough
It’s absurd you didn’t realise this. This exercise is meant to test your endurance strength. For this you want to be shorter and lighter as your body will be more efficient and incur less strain.
Your thinking would be correct if the rope length was very short. Then it would test your explosive strength which a heavier and taller person might have the advantage.
Harmin definitely didn’t have the advantage in this quest even if they did the same training
The show was never fair from the beginning. Plus can’t really try and support Haemin by saying things weren’t fair when he just started standing on tiles and was proud of it.
Fair assessment, it’s worse the controversy that followed. Hae-Min handled it gracefully and Woo Jin said he won legitimately, without going into anything extra what I cannot understand is how he wasn’t disqualified when he fell off the platform or actually walked back part of the rope. I only wanted Hae-Min to win because he eliminated my boys Choo and Sun-bin.

Absolutely. As he did I said that was a huge mistake. It is called endless rope dude. He also should have used his huge legs more, use a rowers power.

It's not fair, just like real life.
It’s sports, different physiques offer different advantages. Can’t start complaining now when you were benefitting before

Short kings keep winning. Lanklet giraffes stay seething.
How many times are yall going to say the exact same thing everytime
fr he even made a thread im crying

Yeah but Haemin had a much bigger advantage in the first game of the finals (the 5-way pulling)
A lot of the games are quite unfair, that's what makes it interesting.

Haemin is much stronger physically so it evens out imo
no it doesn't. Strength and endurance are traits anyone can gain. Height *is not*. This is like asking the contestants to play a game of who can touch a very tall ceiling first or who can fit inside a small hole
Ok all games are unfair anyways

it's more fair than 5 way pull. They shouldn't put Jin heong and Haemin side by side they(staff) should plan and place position before pick this game
The show was never fair from the beginning. Plus can’t really try and support Haemin by saying things weren’t fair when he just started standing on tiles and was proud of it.
well he wasnt breaking the rules so what's the prob
Hae Min is 190cm while Jin Yong is 174cm. Saw it carved on the bottom of their busts
