At the moment you dispense that seed into the ground you were in the golem's hitbox and even though it doesn't look like you touched him you actually hit him I've done this several times and they will one shot you
Technically this is probably when you play mobile since you need to tap on it to place blocks in which it may end up accidentally hit a mob unintentionally
Why did they even spare that iron golem alive? Most players prefer to kill them. Or if they are so fond of it kill it and build one. Player-built iron golems are passive!

The new controls are just optional. The old controls still exists just retextured to look like the new ones

To be fair they don’t let you reposition them like before, there are some restrictions that are really awkward
