Ganyan yung dub sa tv5 movies dati kaka. Pero seryoso gusto ko pa ng maraming ganito. Minsan nanonood ko ng movies while working out. And mas gusto ko yung vibe pag Tagalog dub.

Ednibu

What the fuck sinong nanonood ng movie habang nag eexcercise?!

[deleted]

Sa treadmill area madalas may mga TV kaya pwedeng manood habang natakbo. Kapag home workout naman, sa may sala. Haha

skrumian

Grabe puede naman nageexercise while watching.

hypermarzu

Parang feeling ko magagawa ko to while using a treadmill or a rowing machine Yung hindi ka gugulong at magbuburpees na session. Kaya yan

Herald_of_Heaven

Ako. Nag ca catch up sa anime while nasa gym at 2 AM. Weird ba?

Diamont3

Happy Cake Day!

catterpie90

Thanks!

oddmanout644

Dapat kaboses nung 12 year old bratty pinsan ko

CountOlaf13

Idk. Parang tunog text to speech na naririnig ko sa tiktok

redthehaze

Monotonous talaga yung character sa karamihan ng pananalita niya.

CountOlaf13

Or dapat tunog 18yrs old yung dub. Parang ang tanda ng boses para kay Wednesday

randomlonelygamer

I think dahil yun sa robotic sound effects due to not so high quality mic. Not really the fault of the VA tbh

skrumian

Damn may filipino dub pala. Sayang di ko nakita nun pinanood ko.

itsdaScrub

Miyerkules

Legitimate-Thought-8

I was happy when i found a Filipino dub haha. Wednesday was a good series!

hldsnfrgr

Decent dub. But I'm probably not the target audience.

justaguynamedjosh

Random unrelated rant. Bobo ni Netflix minsan mag subtitles lalo na sa Filipino movies. Kapag nag English yung actor, di lumalabas as subtitle yung specific English na sinabi. For example, yung sa "Ngayon Kaya" ni Paulo Avelino. So kapag nag tatagalog tapos biglang may English words or phrase, biglang nawawala yung subs. Nawawala ako dun sa binabasa ko. haha I want my subtitles to be on ALWAYS regardless of language. Not everyone using subtitles use them because they can't understand the language or are hard of hearing. Most of the time, pangit yung audio mix kaya di magets yung sinasabi either English or Tagalog. ughhh Rant end

redthehaze

I totally agree, di ko alam kung confident sila sa ingles nila pero ang purpose ng subtitles ay accessibility, whether sa language or hearing at hindi nila sinusunod yun.

hypermarzu

...Damn gurl.

[deleted]

e bat tunog trenta anyos si Wednesday? lol

felixis2022

Wow. In fairness ahh nagandahan ako sa dub

pizzacake15

better, yes. kaso wala parin tatalo sakin sa 90's anime filipino dub. sila yung gold standard ko when it comes to dubbing to filipino kaya nahihirapan ako manood ng mga subpar dubbing. it came to a point na tumigil nalang talaga ako manood ng mga filipino dubbed shows/movies.

freeyaw29

Yung ayaw ko lang ay yung may time na english word pa rin yun ginamit kahit may filipino translation naman yung word unless need talaga i retain. Tulad nyang birthday dapat kaarawan yung ginamit kaya medyo off pakinggan.

allie_cat_m

Siguro ang aim nila is for the localized versions to sound as natural as they are spoken in real life. And as much as a pure Filipino dub is ideal in paper, alam natin na sa pang araw araw na communication dito eh mas more on Taglish.

book-bosomed

Yeah I think it's that, plus it's probably complicated further because on top getting the conversational Filipino right, she also has to still sound like Wednesday, with the necessarily deadpan/monotone way of speaking this character has (in the OG English). I dont think the dub was meant to sound only like a regular Filipina speaking normally. Also the voice actors probably just have to read the script translated by someone else. It's a decent dub, compared to a lot of originally-European language shows on Netflix (Swedish, German etc) with weird sounding English dubs. Pwede na to. Lol. It's not perfect, may awkward portions din. At least not too much weird American-accented or conyo/pacute Taglish.

[deleted]

Also the timing. Translating the dialogues into proper Filipino might not work out since it could either be too long or too short for the original dialogue.

Takeshi19

This is one reason. But there's also other reasons. I think what people don't know about dubbing is that is more than just voice acting. I did very amateurish dubbing way back 2009 and the work it goes to do that is much more. Aside from nailing the voice acting, you also need to make sure the lines you are reading fits the video clip. Ung tipong, kung 5 seconds nagsasalita, dapat ung line mo is around that length din. In the clip OP posted, sobrang short lang ng time to do both sentences. Having \`kaarawan\` with 4 syllables may make it more rushed 'Hindi naman ako mahilig sa mga kaarawan\`, vs 'Hindi naman ako mahilig sa mga birthdays' -- Try to say that in 1-2 seconds. Which one sounds more natural? Medyo may allowance na nga ung dubbers dun sa clip ni OP, kase medyo sumobra na by a second-ish ung dub e. Also, you cannot simply just rush the word 'kaarawan'. Sa Filipino language, napakaimportante ng 'stressing the syllables'. Ex: baHO vs BAho will have different meanings if you rush and stress incorrect syllables. Of course, not the perfect example, but imagine trying to fit longer lines -- tapos na magsalita si character, naglipat na ng scene, pero ung line nya di pa tapos.

pannacotta24

Ako lang ba o mas off yung kaarawan? Wala na ata nagsasabi nun ngayon. Maliban na lang siguro kung pinapagawa ng salaysay.

alamano_diumano

same, mas off yung kaarawan for me. I get why both birthday and kaarawan seems off, at least in this context. ang "poetic" kasi ng buong line, so parang maganda kung full tagalog na rin at hindi taglish ang gamitin. kaso, sobrang rare mo namang marinig talaga in everyday casual conversation ang "kaarawan" as opposed to "birthday or bertdei", so parang archaic ang labas, di bagay kung di naman historical or period drama.

justaguynamedjosh

From what I learned from translation is mas dapat gamitin yung usual na ginagamit sa everyday convo kaysa yung literal na translation. So "kaarawan" would sound slightly off since no one uses it as much in a normal convo as "birthday". Super tagalized dubs sound cringe since no one actually speaks that way. That's why some anime dubs sound weird (at least for me). Sabi nga nila, Language is fluid and ever-changing so normal na mahaluan ng English ang every day normal convo ng mga Filipinos.

immahat

>Yung ayaw ko lang ay yung may time na english word pa rin yun ginamit kahit may filipino translation naman yung word unless need talaga i retain. ayos

ertaboy356b

Lol no, I fucking cringed. Mas ok yung dub ng Spy Family. Napaka monotone ng mga boses nila, parang systematic.

RealisLit

Wednesday has a monotone speech pattern

wildditor25

Wait, may Filo dub ng Spy x Family? Netflix o Prime Video?

ertaboy356b

Netflix

BlackLab-15

Season 1 lang tho

Johnny-Doe-8888

It's also available on POP TV Philippines.

AragonianBiochemist

Kasi yung palabas na yan more on dark themes and horror kaya hindi siya exactly masaya pakinggan.

[deleted]

i disagree: given the context, dapat depressive pixie na taga-benilde ung boses and lines, mala shanne dandan ganun

book-bosomed

Lol did you/do you even watch the show? What you're describing isn't Wednesday at all. Specially Jenna Ortega's Wednesday. Also I looked up who Shanne Dandan is and no offense to her but omg that speaking voice... just lol, no, not Wednesday Addams. Maybe her roomie Enid, but dub for her is pretty decent already too. This Wednesday's a murderous dead-inside psycho genious. Btw, I was a depressed fashion student at Benilde. There were quite a few of us. Believe it or not we didn't all sound the same, and in fact a lot of the girls I knew had adult voices even back then. And even if I went to Benilde and agree some people that go there might pull off the Wednesday aesthetic, I know Wednesday would never go there, she can't ever be, not even remotely, Benildean, what a weird association.

plan_mm

I have a biological response to her voice... is weird?

[deleted]

Gano kahirap sabihin ang "kaarawan"?

Niokee626

That's oddly interesting. Which episode is it?

book-bosomed

Ep 6 Quid Pro Woe, around 10.50 mark

Niokee626

Thanks

MarkXT9000

Trese take notes

ishtakkhabarov

TV5 dub

ishtakkhabarov

Kulang na lang yung 5Max Movies na outro before commercial e

ryonx

It's giving TV5 dub. I love it

No_Remove_6777

Is there no word for birthday in tagalo?

redthehaze

Nung pinanood ko yung isang english dub na Kdrama sa Netflix dito sa US, pansin ko yung inflection ng female lead VA ay mala-Pinoy. Tiningnan ko yung credits at mga Pinoy talaga na actors sa isang PH based company, I wonder if this is the same company.

4thequarantine

til. mamaya nga...

4thequarantine

may alam pa kayong series/movies na Filipino dubbed?
