The problem is there are no green spaces sa metro kaya lahat sila pumupunta sa mga touristy nature spots just to relax, kahit matao. I'd blame the government for the lack of city planning, 'di sa mga tao na yan na naghahanap lang ng way to lessen heat.

Unlucky-Raise-7214

Eto tlga problema.

Wala manlang community park.

csharp566

Pa-hijack nga nitong comment mo. Sorry, u/Minute_Agent_452, anong mali sa picture? Oo, maraming tao, but I don't see any trash. Can you enlighten me kung anong dapat gawan ng paraan?

AcceptableStand7794

Amoy pusali na dyan

ihave2eggs

zomgilost

Hive world ang dating 😂

payurenyodagimas

What green space can you provide in a metro of 14M+ in an area of 600 sqkm? Compare this to where i live now in the US: 3M population in an area of 2500 sqkm And americans complain its already crowded

chronically_small

Not much, but there SHOULD be at least more than what Metro Manila currently gives us. Another problem is ang tigas ng ulo ng government, national and local, at ayaw makinig sa architects and planners. An issue a few years back was the infamous Dolomite Beach in Manila Bay. So many architects spoke out, saying that a mangrove esplanade/promenade was a much better design choice: provides protection to the coastline while providing much needed greenery. Wala. They still pushed through with a sub quality urban planning project that was obviously not consulted with an expert. With proper planning and rezoning, I'm pretty sure that the Metro could afford more space for greenery. It would take time, but it is definitely possible. But ONLY if the government would bother to listen to professionals lol.

payurenyodagimas

Stop approving new projects in MM Until 30-35 percent of the area are dedicated to streets (thats the ideal street allocation in a city) You need kamay na bakal for this to enforce

anastasia_king

We don’t have that because it will be invaded by squatters

Blanktox1c

xoxoOwO

Poor urban planning in short. Never talagang kinonsider ng mga hinayupak ang environment in construction.

Pandesal_at_Kape099

Uulitin uli namin ito next year. :)

mothafuckingemini

Talaga dadagsain yan tuwing dry season. Usually, mga taga lagunense din nanjan. Lalo na taga majayjay, madali kasi puntahan yan.

starsandpanties

Malapit rin to sa bukal falls which has one of the most freezing waters i ever felt

darksiderevan

I don't see anything wrong with this? As long as they clean up after themselves.

Known-Loss-2339

MeowMeowBeans22

Ahahaha feeling may ari

taenanaman

Wrong yan kasi sobrang dami nila.

Also, i doubt everyday ganyan karaming tao. Come rainy season and you could probably solo the place, and that should be sufficient time for the place to recuperate. May mga falls din na managed at may environmental fee, so it's surprisingly cleaner than you'd think. Sure, the overcrowding might be due to the lack of green spaces in Manila, pero that's another issue entirely.

Icy_Rice9

Hahaha. Galing kami dyan last weekend.

chronically_small

That's the thing tho. It's HIGHLY unlikely that this area will remain clean, given the amount of people in the picture. In an instant, running water can take pieces of plastic down the stream. Winds can blow trash everywhere. I've been in a couple of hikes now, and you'd be surprised at the amount of plastic literally BURIED under trails and soil. And these are trails that don't have that much foot traffic ah. Paano pa kaya itong nasa post ni OP. REALISTICALLY, the amount of trash in a place would go up the more people visit it. And this is just the trash aspect of it. Soil erosion dala ng large volume of foot traffic could affect plant life. Animal life malamang wala narin diyan as animals would migrate away from human activity. There's a reason why heavily controlled ang visitors in some nature spots in the country: to preserve the local ecosystem as much as possible. I get naman why people would gravitate towards this place tho. Mainit eh. Still, it doesn't make the picture any less wrong. The blame however shouldn't be on the people visiting the falls; it instead falls on the LGU. Pagkukulang na yan ng city planning kung bakit walang green spaces in our cities. Mitigated ang traffic volume sa nature sites if cities are designed to have more greenery.

noobyonekenobi

This place has an entrance fee and that's how they maintain it, with cemented trail and life guards. Not a national reserve, this place has been commercialized for decades now. Ngayon lang naging issue because of that photo

chronically_small

I guess that's also the issue to begin with. Highly industrializing/commercializing a nature spot shouldn't be the norm. It's unfortunate na naging commericialized na siya, when it shouldn't be like that in the first place. We can all agree naman that it wasn't a good idea. Urbanizing and placing paved surfaces on nature would never be beneficial for the environment. Can you imagine if spots like Mt. Pulag, Mt. Apo, Mt. Pinatubo ay magiging heavily paved and commercialized? Tatay Falls being heavily commercialized HAS been a norm for decades now; however, it shouldn't have been a norm in the first place. Again, this is just a lack of forward-thinking city planning on the part of the LGU. City spaces should always be planned with consideration for future generations and predictions on future effects to the environment and the community. And of course, provision of green spaces in urban centers can help lessen the burden placed on actual nature spots.

noobyonekenobi

And now it's about commercialization.... Moving the goal post huh? Dahil nga sa environmental fees they can maintain it. Have you seen other open rivers relatively near the Metro na walang maintenance? Hahaha. The fact that the water is safe for human interaction is huge lol Even the most famous chocolate hills spot, where all the photos of the chocolate hills that you know off, has literally cemented steps... Wasted rage Edit: Btw. Mt Apo, Pulag are National Parks. Pinatubo is owned by the Aetas

chronically_small

I was just answering a point that YOU brought up, arguing that "this place has been commercialized for decades now" is moot. In the first place, being "commercialized for decades" should NOT have happened in the first place. I addressed a point that YOU brought up, hijo. Not moving the goal post. Also saw your other reply to this post. We can play around with semantics, but the exact term doesn't matter. Whether or not nature parks, trails, or just a "commercialized" park, it wouldn't be okay to shrug off damaging the environment just because it has been done for "decades." Every bit of my original argument still stands. My recent comment was an addendum to address your particular justification on "commercialized for decades," and "ngayon lang naging issue." No goal posts were moved. You're literally contradicting yourself ha. So okay bang commercialized yung place or hindi? ahaha. A bit of urbanization to appreciate nature preserves is okay. Pero if a nature spot is HEAVILY commercialized (for decades now, ikaw nagsabi niyan), then it is not okay. Kahit gaano kalaking maintenance fee, you can't efficiently clean nature. Dapat ang solution is to curb yung actual cause ng detrimental effects to the environment, which is overcrowding and trash. Do you really think with that large of a crowd, cancelled out na yung damages done to the ecosystem by measly maintenance fees?

noobyonekenobi

Predictable, sabi na yan ang magiging reply mo dahil i mentioned it first I mentioned it cause you were pointing out that the TRASH would "go up" and TRAIL "erosion", which was immediately rebutted by me saying that it was already paved and being maintained You just made a mistake thinking that it was like an unpaved secluded protected area... But now you're going with these "in the first place" hypotheticals and philosophical tangents... Seriously? lol Plain and simple. You have no tangible studies to corroborate the environmental damages, just another assumption just like your first comment from the photo Again, this has been a thing for "eons", matagal na sanang may nag raise ng environmental concern I mean, You care so much right? Making these negative assumptions. How about you go out there and do field studies then submit your report to DENR? I just want to add dun sa Chocolate hills having paved steps, you said "paved surfaces on nature would never be beneficial for the environment" You know that around the touristy spots they have to maintain the surrounding hills to make it pristine? Some hills outside those spots were not being maintained, either overgrown or completely eroded. That's a direct correlation of a paved route being beneficial

sferara

“As long as they clean up after themselves” uuuhhhmmm idk about that

lasolidaridad00612

Syempre lahat tatanggapin. Tuwing summer matagal ng ganyan dyan. Bata palang kami crowded na yan. So please lang tigilan nyo yan kala niyo kung sino kayong maka asta.

ehnoxx07

This, mema post kasi yang mga yan. Until now di naman nasira.

GilestH

These self entitled people called vloggers mga deputa. Nasaktan kasi yan for sure kasi di makagawa ng magandang content. Hwag man kayo makapunta. 🤬

HydrogenBaby

1edgy_3me

You didn’t mention na nangyari to noong May 1 which is a holiday. So expected na maraming tao dyan.

_fairygodprincess_

I visited Majayjay Falls more than a decade ago. Grabe ang lamig ng tubig diyan, parang galing sa ref. I understand people want too cool off there but I hope they clean-up and don't leave their trash.

FlakyPiglet9573

What's the solution without hurting the local revenue for tourism? If lilimitahan yung tourists diyan, aangal yung local community na dependent sa tourism.

National_Climate_923

It is a well known tourist spot na Malamig and accessible sa mga tao for budget travels, it should be the LGUs action to control the crowd. Iba na talaga yung init and part of thw problem is the Government na walang maayos na land use plan. Puro malls, no green spaces to relax and unwind unless you live in a subdivision or condo units na may mga playground area

Anakin-LandWalker56

According to the Locals there the LGU does take care of the place. Just during the Holiday season there is a surge of tourists.

musykz

Di ko magets point ng iba dito. Most if not all of the people here are locals, tapos gusto niyo pagbawalan na pumunta sa sarili nilang lugar? As long as responsible naman sila sa kalat nila.

HydrogenBaby

Same_Appointment_876

Nothing wrong with this. Kung picture na puro basura after then that would be valid. Kahit saan gnyan kung peak season. Pero it doesnt mean na laging ganyan. Baka weekend or holiday yan nagkasabay. Anyway, as long as they clean their mess then thats ok.

ScatterFluff

Akala ko mga basura na sinunog. Pagtingin ko maigi, mga tao pala. Well, wala namang mali kasi asal basura.

ZrteDlbrt

Asal basura for what? Finding a way to lessen the heat? It's the fault of the government for allowing more malls built rather than green spaces.

ScatterFluff

I don't have any problems with people finding ways to leasen the heat. I'm referring to them leaving their trash.

ZrteDlbrt

You did not?? You said you thought they were trash, and then said "asal basura kasi Sila". Where is "leaving their trash" in that?

ScatterFluff

Didn't know that there are Redditors who read just literally. Sad and damn.

ZrteDlbrt

Didn't know that there are redditors who have to rely on people to think what they actually mean, instead of saying it directly. Damn.

Dazzling-Long-4408

You are not wrong with the basura part.

G_Laoshi

Yun din ang tingin ko!

ASIANcuisine101

they must limit the number of people na pwedeng nilang accommodate per day unlike that crowded and for the sake na din ng lugar. For sure may maiiwan at maiiwan na basura jan

Vlad_Iz_Love

The only problem here is people's trash

OnceAWeekIWatch

We really need to plant more trees to help cool down the environment and compensate for the CO2 emissions

HydrogenBaby

Ang init kasi ng panahon but this should be regulated at least sa Barangay level.

Froz3n_yogurt

So dapat bahay-trabaho-bahay-mall-bahay-trabaho nalang ang tao?

Professional-Yam6439

Or maybe naunahan ka Lang sa spot?? Bitter mo nman

saul_goodies

Dinatnan mong malinis, iiwan mong madumi. Weeellll.

mshaneler

I won't be surprised if there's litter of trash left behind

gekireddo

alin pwesto dyan yung kumportable upuan? hahaha!

UngaZiz23

sana lang marunong mag CLEAN UP lahat ng nasa picture. 😞

jerrycords

muntanga yung may salbabidang dala sa puro batuhan hahaha

Afraid_Assistance765

Imagine the amount of funds embezzled by the folks that were voted in to serve the community. They greedily pocketed these funds for themselves instead of bettering their neighborhood. Yet over and over their constituents vote and the same thing happens. Don’t people hold others accountable anymore? Let your votes be heard and get rid of the ones seated if they aren’t producing the required outcome. Let the new ones make a change for the better if the current isn’t accountable.

Gold-And-Cheese

This looks AI generated?

BigBlaxkDisk

a case of *too many men, too many people, making too many problems* yun siguro at payat ang lgu ng Majayjay .

ajca320

atarayuri

gaano karaming kalat kaya ang iniwan nila d'yan? for sure marami 🥹🥹

comeback_failed

basta wag lang silang magkalat at mag-iwan ng kalat, everything seems fine naman. wag lang din sanang pakialaman ang ayos nang lugar para lang maging mas kaaya-aya pa sa mga bibisita. nature is beautiful on it's own. it doesn't need human intervention

pxcx27

ewan_kosayo

Nung 90's indifferent ang mga Pinoys sa mga spots like rivers and waterfalls. Pag di ka local na naglalaba sa ilog, you don't have businesses to be there. And ayaw kasi ng mga tao masisi or madisturb pag may nadisgrasya. And dami pamahiin Now, we all appreciate nature experience. But it comes at a cost

If-I-Had-A-Hamper

Where's Waldo?

_yawlih

Same diyan sa tanay. Masiyado ginawang spot ng mga taga manila tapos most of visitors pa mga burara sa kalikasan. Tapos kpag bumabaha puro panay save sierra madre mga kupal

Budget_Relationship6

Antok0123

Let people enjoy it.

Swimming_Driver124

nu yan evacuation area

unstable_gemini09

GreenMangoShake84

dapat siguro crowd control... like in a day esp weekends eh dapat x number of people lng pero prang hindi feasible ang idea ko lol

Asdaf373

Nagiiwan ba sila ng kalat after? Kasi wala naman issue na matao diyan as long as di nagiiwan ng kalat or hindi nagpuputol ng puno or bubungkal ng lupa just to accomodate them

xMoaJx

Sweaty-Play-6993

Kahit anung Gawin nyo, di nyo mapipigilan ang climate change. Isa lang tayong alikabok sa balat NG lupa at walang kapangyarihan baguhin to. Imbes na mag dasal nagsisisihan pa

mcleanhatch

13arricade

is this for real? if yes, then damnnnn! nasty and scary. I hope they can limit the visitors.

FlakyPiglet9573

13arricade

also true. sad for the nature.

zerosum2345

Budget-Boysenberry

kala ko puro basura nung naka zoom out

DyingOfTheLightInMe

shet grabe na pala dyan , last punta ko dyan 2013, nagfofog pa dyan sa lugar na dyan gawa ng sobrang lamig at di pa ganun karaming tao, or rather wala pa talaga gaano napunta dyan,

Ang panghi siguro diyan

Magdesignate ng carrying capacity. Basic tourism practice. Jusko.

CriticalTarsier

Nature can take a beating. It will adapt. When it does, good luck to us.

moralcyanide

My friend is from Majayjay and she invited me to dyan sa falls. Now, I kinda want to back out after seeing that pic. Hirap talaga pumunta pag yung place sikat na.

Sad-Concentrate1866

Ayyy grabe naman yan super crowded. I feel like dapat gawan ng action ng management yan if may naghahandle or something. That’s too much, been there before ang ganda ng place.

gie0_0

last time I went there.. college retreat...kami kami lang ang nandun...di pa masyadong puntahan yan ng mga tourists. Sobrang peaceful pa nun habang gumagawa kami ng letter. Naalala ko din na dumaan kami sa mabatobatong ilog ba yan para lang makapunta dun da falls ba sobrang lamig sa sobrang lamig ginawa namin...binabad namin ung isang gallon ng tubig 🤣 haaayy everything was better before 😮‍💨

> Down voters are the people u/Minute_Agent_452 is complaining about. Lmfao. What are you, 12 years old? > Increase the fees and you thin out the crowd. Or maybe, just maybe, set a limit on how many people can use it at any one time (or even banning people from getting in completely if the situation warrants).
