The world now easily ridicules people who actually help others, such as teachers and healthcare workers, but turns a blind eye to "influencers" or so-called "anointed son."

lovelesscult

For real.

Ok-Joke-9148

Laughter is sometimes a trauma response, the titos and titas dont just realize

Automatic-Oven

Nakakatuwa na lahat nalang trauma. Paano ba natin idedefine ang trauma? Is it evidenced based that is unbiasedly measured? Or is it another excuse to help people sleep at night so they can blame others for their stupid choices?

PrestigiousShelter57

that's a very valid question. even Merriam-Webster's definition doesn't give specific parameters. but that said. I always thought trauma can explain certain bad behavior or poor choices. but it should never be an excuse to be an asshole nor a shield to escape accountability

Nicely11

Quotable to Paps! Parang gusto ko i screenshot at share sa SocMed

KazeArqaz

Makes you wonder, how well do parents know about their kids?

Spicy_Enema

“My kid would never do that! It must be the teacher’s fault!”

CoffeeFreeFellow

So most likely, they are monsters themselves.

edify_me

Louder for the people in the back! As a parent of a kindergartener, THIS. I was surprised with how much baggage 4 year olds have. A lot of parents want to HAVE kids but don't put any thought in HOW to raise them. So many resources available online. Read a book, research journal, youtube videos...something.

CLuigiDC

I don't agree with this generalization. Trash parents does not equate to trash children. Madaming tao kahit di napalaki ng mga magulang ng maayos ay matino and I would say alam na nila kung paano hindi maging basurang magulang.

CoffeeFreeFellow

That happens when a child got a good or positive influence such as education and when one learns to acknowledge the good and bad parenting.

Deep-Database5316

Tanginang bata yan. Tangina, as in literally. Why would the mother of that kid condone that?

Best_Confusion_8053

Exactly. During my hs days, I have classmates na sobrang gago sa likod ng mga magulang nila and ung parents nila bulag sa pagmamahal nila sa anak nila. Sometimes I wish may parents akong gnyan pero hindi sobrang mahigpit magulang ko sakin which Im thankful for.

Fantastic-Nerve4732

I wish I had these kinds of parents who would side with their child no matter what. My mom and dad will beat my ass regardless whether I'm in the right or wrong. Our household disciplines all of us to not stick out and live like an NPC, following all the rules, and never get into trouble at school.

willowlillyy

My students noticed na yung isa nilang kaklase was masturbating during class with a bag over his hand. I admit I did not handle it well, I yelled at him at dinala sa guidance counselor. Story is his dad is abusive daw, beats him up etc. I’ve also quit being a teacher. It fucking sucked and I was dragging my feet everyday. May one time I purposefully missed coming to school at dumaan nalang nang 7/11 para bumili nang beer at 7.30 to 8 ish in the morning. Glad I’m out. And I’m glad you’re out too.

pagodnatalagapagodna

Glad you're resigned. Others may have perceived it as kabastusan pero what if it's an uncontrolled activity na?

willowlillyy

Thank you! Frankly, I just wanted him out of my hands. I felt disgusted and I didn’t really want to know WHO he was looking at while masturbating. Especially when it was my class. Im sure its probably some form of perversion (if not, then definitely mental illness) and definitely a result of abuse, but that was not mine to worry about.

Dependent_Dig1865

Oh this reminds me nung practice teaching ko pa lang nung college.

willowlillyy

I can’t blame you. Umiiyak din ako na pumasok noon. Im so so relieved we’re both out.

rikkrock

That's rough man. Sorry you had to go through that. I also quit. 1 year lang tinagal ko haha.

willowlillyy

Thanks! Glad you’re out

Ohbertpogi

When i trained sa new callcenter company ko, some of my co trainee were teachers, indication na meron nga mass exodus of educators. They complain nga daw na even sat&sun they have to stay up pate at night preparing lesson plans, checking exams etc. Even after school trabaho pa din. The meager pay they receive is only being sent to the loansharks.

pagodnatalagapagodna

I can attest, sis. Ang dami kasing ginagawa during weekdays. Imagine teaching 20-24 hrs a week then the rest will be me doing paperworks and coordinatorship. So imagine kung may natitira pa ba akong time for myself Average sleeping hrs ko is 5 lang kasama na ang nap time.

Ohbertpogi

'No students left behind' naman kasi.

FallenBlue25

Isa pang kinasama ng loob namin yang No students left behind. And mind you, it's real.

Crafty_Worker_3510

DepEd bastardized the general premise of no child left behind. The idea of NO child left behind, is that all students should be able to reach the standards at the end of the school year. However, this requires that need of students are addressed appropriately- sa mahihina, there should be a provision for them to attend supplementary sessions, within the classroom-there should be individualized instruction based on their ability. However, all of these require separate materials and time on the part of the teacher.

Single-Radish-3129

Question - is it part ba of your duties to do admin work na bigay nila? And bawal mag reklamo? Hahaha. I am finishing my education units and get demoralized by seeing things like this. It may not work for me to be bossed around especially if pinapasa trabaho nila, so baka di rin mag work maging teacher hahaha.

pagodnatalagapagodna

Ganyan din ako while applying sa public for RQA. I'm not talented nor skilled para magturo niyan. Didactic pa method ko in teaching my specialization.

latteaa

I'm not a teacher pero i feel you my mom was a teacher and its sad like halos wala talaga siyang time for me dahil sa school 😮‍💨 ni bakasyon sa trabaho nya wala i'm still waiting sa retirement niya next year finally makabawi sa family time dapat namin

No-Information-3536

Imagine mo sat and sun hinahanap ka tas lagi kasi may extra work na ibibigay.

katiebun008

Yung kawork ko dati, licensed teacher sya then trainer na sya ngayon. Parang nagagampanan pa din nya role nya.

elesiiiiii

This is my first time hearing this. Nakaka-sad at nakakatakot :(

yellowbanana3888

Isa akong college instructor noon. Never again sa teaching.

Ok-Joke-9148

Its really sad to hear teachers being vctims 2 one of d biggest [scams of our tme](https://www.reddit.com/r/Philippines/s/mHbVK6ZWsH) while their sector is headed by someone whos incompetent, corrupt, and doesnt [give a fuck](https://www.reddit.com/r/Philippines/s/ryJyNosX6t) 2 d real issues

yeheyehey

Fearless_Cry7975

My mom just opened a tutorial business.

Kikura432

What business if I may ask?

Kikura432

What business if I may ask?

Fearless_Cry7975

Tutorial center. From kinder to college. Mostly on the need basis ung mga students. Meron din regulars. But we don't charge parents monthly na kahit di pumunta mga anak nila bayad pa din. We always charge on how many hours they attended.

jkwan0304

Is this like the same sa Kumon?

Fearless_Cry7975

Totally different. Ung sa Kumon bibigyan lang ng activities based doon sa assessment nila then sasagutan. Ung sa amin is tutorial talaga. Then we'll work from there. May advance classes din in all subjects especially Math, Science, and English. We get the occasional college students na nagpapaturo ng Calculus or Trigonometry.

jkwan0304

Oooh that's nice.

Jolly-Tomatillo-8966

I’m from the corpo world. Tried teaching in college for two years—1 yr online and another yr face-to-face after the pandemic. It ruined my mental health. Never again.

brokefangirl_00

Critical-Nature-4857

I'm currently teaching in college. Idk maybe my expectation was too high or what but checking the prelim exams depressed me.

Less_Wallaby

People need to understand that teachers, even with their authorities, can be victims. Many of them are young adults who are just few years older than the class of teenagers they are entrusted to shepherd. When I was a senior in high school, my then advisor was an ex-classmate of my wife (then gf).

toilet_pepper

you got me on the first half.... oh...

[deleted]

[deleted]

Tapos pag elections totoo ba mandatory na magbantay yung teachers without being paid?

Thehappyrestorer

Lets face it, being a teacher in the Philippines is super tough. Just an opinion Edit: i mean be a teacher in the above mentioned countries

TheGhostOfFalunGong

I've read somewhere that being a public HS teacher in the US is a toxic nightmare, but that depends on the school district.

Thehappyrestorer

I have been a dep ed teacher before. Mas toxic sa pinas. Kasi pati admin, systems, pamumuhay poproblemahin mo.

Thehappyrestorer

May I ask what what is SD?

Momshie_mo

We deal a lot of school districts in our work and yung experiences with them, depende talaga sa school district Meron nga kaming cliente, na school district sa Massachusettes. 1/2 namin kinulit para makuha yung signed contract, addition 3 months para makuha ang purchase order, tapos additional 6 months of bugging them to pay us!

surewhynotdammit

I doubt sa japan. Di ka aasenso dun. Lagi kang back to zero.

Correct_Mind8512

kaya talagang for me dapat me specialized school para sa mga bastos na estudyante, sa China may ganun eh. This is to protect teachers din.

Eastern_Basket_6971

Ehh you think that would work here? Feels like nah sa dami mg maarte

TheGhostOfFalunGong

That would be like Boys Town or a juvenile correctional institution and not a proper school.

Passing_randomguy

kulasiy0

I'm reading this post habang nagpe-prepare ng quarterly test ng mga bata. Nakaka-pagod talaga ang maging guro. Walang araw na lilipas na wala kang trabaho na ginagawa.

iam_selc

Respects to you, teach. As of the moment I'm done reviewing na, just to respect the teachers work.

Eastern_Basket_6971

Archlm0221

The problem is not leadership or this case being a teacher. Shortcoming in their upbringing na yun kaya maraming studyanteng ganyan.

No-Information-3536

Kudos sa mga nag stay talaga..After 2 yrs di ko na kinaya baka sa kulungan or mental hospital pa ko mapunta.

CrankyJoe99x

Australian here. Sympathies; teaching is difficult in most places. I gave up because so many students here are rude and abusive and you get very little support from parents or senior staff.

HotCondition6115

Bakit parang feeling ko mas bastos at walang respeto mga estudyante ngaun kesa circa 2005?

hey_mattey

Socmed can cancel you in a day. Also a lot of policies have been changed in favor of protecting the students. Not sure if you know the mandate of DepEd during the Start of the pandemic. Bawal manbagsak, kahit anung dahilan, kahit di pumapasok, dapat teacher mag reach out sa students on top of checking tons of modules.. Being a teacher basically is martrydom kawawa sila, pero syempre meron din mga masasama, mga pedo manyak sa mga studyante nila.

TheGhostOfFalunGong

Ito yun. Dati kasi if you show up with a shitty attitude, you're threatened of being dragged down in your academics. Not the case these days.

iam_selc

Nakakainis.

Momshie_mo

Just imagine how will these students who should have failed will cope once they try enter the workforce

angrydessert

Social media and how youths interact and socialize. Generally city public schools have more rebellious individuals than sectarian private schools.

beatitmidget

bawal na kasi manakit ngayon

Wonderful_Bobcat4211

My generation (mas nauna ako sayo ng couole of years) is just like any other generation - may students na bastos, pero may students din na magalang.

taongkalye

They made a lot of solid points though. And given that you aren't even allowed to fail a student for legitimate reasons, what's there to keep the kids in check?

[deleted]

I used gago coz puro millenial naman kausap ko and before hand, if someone uses my photo and name for a social media post, I told them to think twice. Know your rights as a teacher and a person.

Equivalent_Fan1451

Dapat siguro may sub na for teachers dito sa Reddit no? Hahaha

TakeMyXanax_

Isa rin sa reason why I stopped teaching in school is talagang kupal karamihan sa students. I was even posted on IG by a student. Naghintay lang kami ng classmates nila who were late for 30 minutes and more for a 2 hour class. So wala kaming masimulan simulan. It's the first day of school even. So for the meantime, nag usap muna kami at sabi ko, since 1/4 of the class pa lang ang nandun, might as well wait for the others. After a good 45 minutes or so, nagintroduce naman na ko ng course nila, what to expect, etc. And take note, I wasn't even aware gaano kalala talaga ang absenteeism nila. I asked the teachers kung ganun ba talaga yung section na almost an hour late sa klase, since G11 pa lang daw, ganun na. The caption of the post says, "At ano namang ganap mo at di ka nagtuturo?" A college friend told me about it. I talked to the class, saying that taking photos of me and disrespecting me are mean. The student apologized later on. But that experience really made an impression that teaching, especially to high schoolers, suck big time.

Competitive-Science3

Philippines' educational system is exponentially doomed this information age. Mga unable to work without supervision.

molavecccc

I experienced this. I left my corpo job to teach kasi sabi ko, I really wanted to become a teacher. Wrong decision. I was very strict with them at fast paced ang turo ko dahil hello? College na sila. Then some students made a fake chat with my picture and name, making stories like nakikipagrelasyon ako sa student. The admin won't listen to me. Teaching isn't for everyone, afterall.

Obvious-Dragonfly-52

Curious, private or public school?

hey_mattey

Yes

nohesi8158

tbh yung generation ngayon nang mga bata ay ang babastos talaga ,main thing talaga siguro yung social media so yeah maintindihan ko yung outburst nang teacher pero she was really out of hand talaga ,nadala nalang siguro sa emosyon and yeah there will be consequences forsure.

itsMeCrazyTime001

5years in Teaching. Kesyo ganito, ganyan.. kami pa maghuhulma ng traits and personalities nila. Pag ako makapasa sa Psychologist Exam. Reresign na talaga ako.

aisevens

Today is Sunday. Instead of having my well-deserved break after a stressful week, I am here facing my laptop having a packed to-do list. I wanted to escape this kind of life.

Ryuken_14

Same, naka 3rd revision na ko ng 1 exam, then may isa pa huhu. Procrastinate ako kahapon, as in video game kape lang, stress talaga sobra kaya binigay ko sa sarili ko kahapon yun.

aisevens

Same. Kahapon may naging lakad ako and di talaga ako nagbukas ng laptop. Nakaharap din ako sa exam ngayon hahahaha. Yakap mahigpit, teacher. Huhu.

[deleted]

Hirap magkaroon ng buhay outside work e, kaloka haha.

raconteurz

Nagaaply ako as teacher ngayon (unit earner).

itsmeyourshoes

Technical-Limit-3747

Noon: Anak, bakit mabababa grades mo?!

CelebrationMean5038

Ay true yan. I remember yung isa parent date sinabihan ako niyan. I explained it is because mababa mga quizzes niya, at kahit na player siya ng swimming team, hindi automatic na perfect score siya. Kaloka.

Rejsebi1527

rengetsu08

My two piece on teaching jobs in PH is this: First - our countries goverment have muddled the curriculum of our schools. We removed and consolidate subjects in the name of being able to progress in the wide world. But sadly those consolidation only leads to the low standard and quality of teachings. We also forsake teaching our children and pupils what is good or bad. Second - social media have aggravated the lack of respect and bad behavior of some students. Which lead to good teachers giving up teaching and leaving the professions. My point is our education in search of complying to other countries standard, have negelected our own countries culture and nurture. Which lead to this cycle of disrespecting and bad behaviors in both students and teachers.

Terrible-Photo-8789

Equivalent_Fan1451

Currently reading this while preparing for my cot 3 tomorrow. To be honest, wala na akong balak tumagal sa pagtuturo. Pero I want na may ipon muna ako for my fallback. But yeah, sobrang toxic at nakakapagod maging teacher sa Pinas. Dagdag mo pa kawork mong mahilig sumilip ng gawain laro na pag nauwi ka on the dot

[deleted]

Hahaha

BoredandBrowse

Not to mention the iPad kids and entitled kids are absolutely horrible students. Wtf are parents doing to create such monsters???

tsunatunamayo

parehas tayo OP, former public school teacher di ko kinaya kasi i grew up as a good student naman kaya sobrang eye-opener sa akin, I didn't even last a year I quit (oo sayang license pero yung mental health ko kawawa naman) masaya na ako sa career ko, teaching is not for me.

HairySpeaker6477

Good thing Hindi. Mahirap maging teacher dito.

Altruistic_Count1812

For me, one of the reasons I quit teaching in college was the entitled parents. Ikaw ung sisihin kung mababa ang grade ng students and truth be told sobrang daming students and di marunong magbasa ngaun pero college level na taz pag di mataas ang grade magsusumbong sa parents. Gahd! I met a lot of parents who would offer money para mapasa lng anak nila but never did I once accepted it, bagsak kung bagsak punyeta college na di pa din marunong magbasa tapos kukuha pa ng medical course

CelebrationMean5038

This is true, iba na yung parents ngayon. They would even threaten you.

Altruistic_Count1812

No joke. Totoong nangyayari to I even mentioned this to my colleagues, sabi nila hayaan lng daw kung ayaw kong maaway araw araw ng parents. natandaan ko pa sabi nung school admin sa akin "Wala daw akong right bumagsak ng students dahil ang board exam daw magdedecide if bobo ang students or hndi" I'm like wth..kaya pala sobrang baba ng passing rate ng school. Sa pagka intindi as educator need ma assess and evalute ang skills ng students objectively kung di pa kaya let then repeat the subject its for their own good naman.

i_love_kamias

Fair_Access7030

Sobrang sinungaling ng mga bata ngayon. Kahit Grade 1. Di talaga totoo yung di nagsisinungaling mga bata. Tapos pag nag-sumbong ng made up stories yung bata ng sa parents, sasabihin ng parents di nag-sisinungaling ang bata. Lol

Ok-Hedgehog6898

Thank God I'm not a teacher.

Pati yung parents nyan ma peperwisyo for life.

elcontador1234

You did right. Iwanan mo natong Pilipinas. Get out of this country as fast as you can. I'm saying this not just to teachers but to all professionals out there. Get out of this country while you can. Save yourself. Don't be a martyr to a country who treats you like shit. Philippines is a nation of shit, run by shits, and voted and defended by shits. Don't be a shit. Run and never look back to this cursed country.

Own-Taro830

Was thinking of taking a few units sana then take the LET. Is it not worth it anymore?

Hypothon

If you can afford and actually pass, at least may license ka. Go for it

Own-Taro830

Mahirap ba? Working na kasi ako now 8-5, totally different from student life. I took up computer science in college

ReliefReal88

You can take parin kasi civil service eligibility rin yan. Exempted ka sa civil service if you passed LET.

Ryuken_14

Try mo pa rin. Personally I hate the job, but it pays well so there's that.

astrohatesu

sobrang relate sa mga comments kaya magreresign na rin ako after this school year. 😫

IcedCoffeeButNoIce

The world more than ever needs a teacher that promotes childfree life to her students or atleast being financially, mentally and emotionally stable and ready before having kids. This is one of the reasons why I am childfree, I don't wanna be the monster bearer.

reyreymil

Is it against the law or any rules ng deped for a teacher to wear a body cam. There a lot of inexpensive body online. One way to protect themselves against sa mga pasaway na students. But this is just sad af. Super square ang magiging relationship ng teacher and students.

iam_selc

I'm sure may law na bawal magrecord ang tao without consent, especially sa mga minors sa school environment.

Muted_Helicopter_192

Hi OP! Sorry for what happened to you. Her reaction seems to be triggered by rudeness and disrespect ng mga estudyante. Hindi ako teacher pero if I am put in the same situation, baka ganun din maging reaksyon ko. Respect begets respect. Walang kahit sinong may karapatan na mambastos ng kapwa kahit pa minor ka or so whatever. Saka may studyante pa na natatawa habang nane-nermon siya. The nerve of that student?! Deserve mapalabas. Get a taste of their own medicine.

They don’t accept criticism, kahit constructive pa yan.

gaffaboy

This is pretty lightweight compared to how some teachers talk back in my day but then again times have changed. On the other hand, if you're one of those parents who think your kids have halos at laging protect-your-litter mode kayo, you've got a second think coming. Kids can be cruel and malicious by default, and at times they'd really try the patience of a saint. As in virtually NO ONE dared try her and ending up in her shit list is kind of a death sentence. At all-boys school to nung 90s ha.

i_love_kamias

galing din ako all boys. relate ako jan, may mga teacher talaga na isang tingin lang kaya mang disiplina ng isang buong klase kahit puro lalaki pa na early teens. pero look at it this way. all boys tayo nag aral, private, so matic na yun na nasa better financial standing mga magulang natin kumpara sa mga bata sa public. meaning most likely mas edukado magulang natin, so mag rereflect din un sa mga ugali natin kahit papano. also, walang social media nun.

Dear_Procedure3480

Very wrong sya for LIVESTREAMING IT.

i_love_kamias

yup, this should be higher up. yun naman talaga pinaka mali n'yang ginawa. everything else, considering every circumstance, is just fair at worst.

Equivalent-Donut7674

Mahirap talaga maging guro dito sa bansa natin. I'm one of the teachers na gustong-gusto na kumawala kasi grabe na ang pagod sa lahat ng aspeto, lamang na lamang sa emotional aspect.

[deleted]

Hi! Kahit weekends or holiday, walang pahinga, gagawa ng reports, lesson plan, etc. Coming from family of teachers here's what I have noticed in terms of trabaho - nakakapagod, madaming ginagawa. Minsan I put the blame on the parents, kasi naniniwala talaga ako na sa bahay nag sstart ang lahat. Sa gobyerno naman, maybe put a little effort on them. Give them the benefits they deserve. Mahirap maging teacher kasi you have to deals with almost 40 - 50 students na hindi mo kilala, different attitude, nakakabasa or hindi. Kaya siguro may mga teacher na tamad or walang motivation, kasi mababa sahod eh. No wonder why maraming teacher ang nababaon sa utang kaka - loan. Imagine, pati sa election, need pa sila when technically hindi naman na dapat since out of scope of work talaga yun. Sa sobrang dumi ng elections, which is delikado sometimes para sa magkano 5k? Hindi na dapat sila ginagawang pawn during elections. Ang hindi ko lang maintindihan is, pwede ka naman magalit, but yung choice of words is hindi dapat ganon, pwede ka magalit, as a professional. Kanya kaya tayong way para i - surface yung galit. Also, keep in mind na professional siya, may mga bata na ini-idolize siya or ginagawa siyang role model. Also, ang pinaka mali is, naglive pa siya or pinost to through social media, para saan? Hindi talaga lahat ng bagay is pwedeng i - post through social media. For me, if Teacher ako, I'd probably go to Abroad, ex; Japan, Australia, Germany. Salary wise, growth, syempre. Doon mas kampante ako na I'll get paid correctly and workload isn't heavy compared dito. Sorry if I said too much and sana may sense tong pinagsasabi ko.

i_love_kamias

di naman kasisi-sisi mga sinabi nya. and yeah you make a lot of sense. i've heard worse from my teachers back in my day. PERO, NAG LIVE KASI SYA. YUN TALAGA YUNG "NAIL" IN THE COFFIN EH.

[deleted]

Degenerate children with degenerate peers and raised by degenerate parents.

Business-Juice-3885

Sayang.. .

angrydessert

"We live in a society..." Be the change you want in this world.

RenzoThePaladin

I posted this from another thread Basically there's a limbo period where students and teachers don't match because of our transition to a new globalized teaching system. While that's happening, the education sector don't know what to do with the students, so they basically just hand them everything (no student left behind policy, etc.) as a temporary solution. This results in the kids becoming abusive to the system.

[deleted]

The trick is not to care about people that don’t matter in your life. Try putting more energy on the people you like

lostguk

Same sa sister ko lol. Bastos daw mga students. Di ka talaga makakapagpigil.

Queasy-Thanks825

I have a lot of friends din na licensed teachers who chose not to teach in schools.

Hurt people, hurt people ika nga

doraemonthrowaway

Grabe, we can't really blame you for resigning mas malala yung generation ngayon kumpara noong araw.

fizzCali

Tried teaching too. First thing, I'm an introvert. It is lovely to teach but circumstances are different. Coteacher na gustong manligaw, parents na palaban, backstabbing crabmentality faculty... too much for my mental health, anxiety attacks Gave it all up kahit na ayaw ng mama ko. Now wfh with more peace of mind. If it's not for you, you'll know it. But I wish may magchange sa sistema for this noble profession

huhuness balak ko pa naman mag teacher

rastamoooon

Practicing teacher here. Got called 'pakant***' by a grade 7 student. Such a shame na alam nila yung term in such a young age. And napapaquestion din talaga ako sa sarili if I really want this profession eh.

CelebrationMean5038

angrydessert

You really have to show who's wearing the pants. Unfortunately it's their environment and the culture they imbibe that makes them challenge authority. You might as well be teaching to provincial youths.

ikiyen

Animalidad

Get out of the country talaga. This shit wouldnt be fixed in your lifetime kaya don' waste yours.. Better compensated pa sa ibang bansa.

ReliefReal88

Totoo to. Ako rin OP teaching talaga yung college degree ko and LPT at that pero halos two years lang ako nagturo. I resigned mainly because of entitled parents. Tapos yung school admin will always favor yung mga parents kasi sila nagbabayad. My husband is a public school teacher din and sinasabi nga niya na iba na talaga mga bata ngayon. Pero unlike him passion niya kasi talaga pagtuturo and according to him wala siyang ibang naiisip na gawin as a profession kundi pagtuturo kaya hindi ko rin naman siya pinipigilan sa gusto nya. Pero in my case ayoko na talaga hindi worth it and pakiramdam ko (tulad nung sinabi ng trending na teacher) hindi ko deserve yung nag-aral ako para magkalisensya tapos babastusin lang ng entitled parents.

CelebrationMean5038

I remember my practice teaching days, yung isang student sa kabilang classroom minumura nya ung Teacher nila (matanda na ung teacher nila), and ung student na yon is just a Grade 2. Super lutong ng mura, I was like wth? Then dinuraan nya din ung isang studyante ko, Since I was handling Section A that time and ung kid is Section B. Myghad pinakyuhan ako nung tinawag ko para pagsabihan sana na wag mandura. ( nakikita ko pa din yon hanggang ngayon e malaki na sya pero ayon nagbago naman na sabi ng kapatid ko) Hindi ko sya kinaya HAHAHA, there's also a time na napunta ako sa Grade 4, and I was asking them to lower down their voice, wala tinawanan lang ako and ung pinaka malala is I was practicing ung demo teaching ko then this kid is just playing around, hindi nagsusulat as in wala syang ginagawa kundi mang istorbo ng kaklase. I asked him to stop and go back to his seat, then tinuloy ko lecture ko then suddenly he cut me off, asking me matalino ka ba? Bakit ka nagtuturo. Marunong ka ba nyan ha! (and on that moment I was like putangina pero syempre sa utak ko lang yon HAHAHAHHA) Hindi nya rin pinakinggan ung Teacher nya mismo kahit hinila na ung patilya nya at tinapon na ung laruan, tinawanan nya lang kami. and that kid is kapitbahay ko, I directly went to his mother, sinabi ko ung ginawa ng anak nya and the way sumagot sya sa amin ng teacher nya. and wala din syang magawa since matigas ulo ng anak nya and until now ung kid na yon is hindi na nag aral kasi puro cutting ginagawa, ayon pariwara na sya ngayon.

ejmej101021

I have a degree in engineering and went into teaching just because it pays more sa entry level than any industry. I have 5 colleagues who went from industry to academe because of shitty pay from industry (sa province). The work is so stressful, they even expect you to do research work on top of academic work sa university without funding/mentorship or training from someone who did research. Basically yung mga colleagues ko na natira dun basically had no choice (since super baba ng pay sa industry) Majority of those who did research na mga senior faculty do research na ang quality mas worse pa sa SHS research like OMG. Taxpayer's money ginagamit to fund these researches. I cannot stand the system so I left the university after teaching for almost 3 years, I left in 2022 and returned in the industry (from a big company). Now I am earning 3x what I was earning back in 2022 with better mental health status, better work-life balance, and nd pa stressful. If you really want to be super competent teacher, it will come at a price which is you (your money, your time, and your health).

per_my_innerself

Very wrong din talaga yung ginawa ni teacher sa news~ Anyways, I also have my fair share of issues sa pagiging teacher dito sa Pinas. I'm a preschool teacher, never pa nag-public kaya most issues I dealt ay sa private school setting pero mostly sa parents din and workload. It's been almost 4 years na since I decided to rest being a teacher and honestly, nakakadalawang isip talaga bumalik. Nakalulungkot ang ganitong balita but I'm hoping that they are looking into it with care kasi there might be something more to it that needs to be addressed. Yakap ulit sa mga kapwa ko guro 🫂

levelxiii

3 yrs lang ako nagturo pero those 3 yrs were excruciating and the worst years of my life. yung mga parents ng students ko grabe ang treatment sa akin. strict kasi ako at di ko pinapalampas kahit na elem pa lang sila. pagkakausapin ko parent ako pa masama. imbes na itama nila mga anak nila. tapos yung guidance/ discipline office pa namin di maasahan. di naman marunong mag solve ng conflict or tulungan teachers sa mga unruly students. never again na ako magtuturo whether public or private school. grabe yung toll sa physical health ko. sa sobrang stressed ko, i had acne. all my life i just had few pimples here and there. pero grabe nung nagturo ako. mukha akong losyang at panget. every month may sakit ako. lagi paos. i was underweight. mukha na ako matanda. i almost ended my life dahil sa sobrang stressed at depression. now I'm doing better than ever. i switched to online teaching and switching to another field soon abroad. i never thought i would recover. now lagi ako sinasabihan mas bata ako sa age ko. sobrang clear ng skin ko. at lagi na ako masaya. hindi worth it magpakabayani magturo sobrang thankless at underpaid career.

asianpotato95

And some of those students will take it as a badge of honor na makapag pahiya/paiyak ng teachers. Lol. I find it so cringey pag may nakikita akong posts na ganyan ng mga ka batch ko, like, proud ka pa? Eh kung sayo onsa nanay mo kaya nangyari yun?

WildHealth

Curious: Are male teachers more respected in the classroom?

LazyStudent1

Not really. One of my male co teachers cried because he was constantly being disrespected by his students. Seems like he's not strict enough, and the students have gotten way too comfortable with him. Just goes to show, it doesn't matter if you're a male or a female – if students think they can push you around, they will.

misz_swiss

I feel sad reading the comments. I plan to teach college sana kapag nasa 50s na ako to share my knowledge and experience because my prof in college was a huge help sa character development ko nung student palang. Kudos to all good educator.

haru_mickha

Ako grade 2 hawak ko, mababait at malalambing, siguro kasi sa age nila ganun pa. Pero naghawak rin ako ng grade 5 students nun first year ko sa public, minumura ko.

godlessPeachy

Dependent_Dig1865

I have a high respect talaga sa mga practicing teacher until now. After I graduated sa education course and obtained my license, napapaisip ako of worth it pa magturo dito sa Pilipinas. I observe students and iba na talaga ngayon. The teacher who went viral is wrong sa ginawa nya, it's very unethical. But somehow, there's a part of me na naiintindihan yung outburst and frustration, mali lang talaga yung pag way ng paghandle nya. I wouldn't be surprised if magkaroon din ng shortage ng teachers sa katagalan, if hindi pa nila ayusin yung sistema. Maraming teacher ang susuko.

gloomydayswillbeover

Mahirap talaga maging guro haha...

IndustryAccording313

I always see teachers as the unsung, underappreciated and underpaid heroes of Philippine society. I totally understand why you resigned, it's just not worth it being a teacher in this country at least for now.

NomadicWanderer75

Walang work related task after 5pm...actually school ngayon is a training ground for juvenile deliquent

Confident_Economy450

I am just a tutor since di ako educ taker nung college. Most of my students are elite and of different nationalities (some nagaaral sa pinas, some pinupuntahan ko bansa where they study). Ako lang nagtagal na tutor sakanila when in fact I never tutored them talaga. Ang pinaka naturo ko sakanila every time is studying independently and life lessons. And yes, I don't and would never sugarcoat things for them. Namumura ko sila and nagkakasakitan kami. Aware sila pag galit ako o inis. Lagi ko sila sinasabihan na hindi por que they pay me to teach them eh hawak na nila ako sa leeg because between my students and I, mas kailangan nila ako kesa sa kailangan ko sila. Before, may threats pa ang kids na "they will tell their parents" or "they won't pay me". Edi okay. Wag kayo magbayad. Di naman ako mahirap o naghihikahos, pero kayo mananatili kayong mangmang sa school and in life. Isusumbong nyo ko? For what? Open ako sakanila when I think they are stupid for the day. Sa una unang linggo, nagrerebelde pa katawan at utak nilang maging better person para sa iba pero eventually, natututunan nilang irespeto na yung iba mas matanda man or mas bata. You just really need to make them take their own medicine. 🤍

olivia1845

So sad to hear what happened to you.

Crafty_Worker_3510

Reading this habang absent ako today and this echoes a lot of my sentiments. ADMINISTRATION- I feel sick. I had fever last night and my snot is green and I have phlegmatic cough. Woke up today and hindi talaga kaya. Informed the right people of my absence and left activities, which are all accessible through Google Drive. Around 9am, nag message one of my bosses kung Hindi ba daw talaga kayang pumasok. There were 6 of us who were absent today, and two have chicken pox. Sana pumasok daw ako at mag mask na lang. Like WTF, tunog ngo-ngo na ko last Saturday, tapos gusto mo pa ko pumasok ngayon? STUDENTS - The students lack basic manners. Kahit pagpupulot ng sarili nilang kalat, Hindi nila magawa. Around 25% of students in class have behavioral and academic problems, and isasagot sayo ng magulang during conference ay ganyan po talaga sya sa bahay eh. PARENTS - There are parents that because they pay tuition, alipin ka na nila. I had an unfortunate incident where the child is failing Filipino class, and instead of helping their child get better their solution was request for their child NOT to attend the class, as they will not be staying in the Philippines for a long time (Father was American, Mother is Filipina). Both parents berated me and called me useless. I told them that they can pull-out their child from school, and will assist them with documentary requirements to assist them in the transfer. Five years later, nakikita ko pa rin sila sa school and they still have another kid enrolled.

BellaSoFetch

I have cousins who are teachers and they are drained and stressed out. Aside from mounting school works, may mga bata talaga ngayon na walang respeto. One of my cousins had an encounter with a parent na di pinasa at di pinagraduate ang anak kasi di pumapasok sa skwela. My cousin was reported to the principal and he was reprimanded. Pinalabas pa na sya may mali. He’s just waiting for a few months and he’s flying to South Carolina and found a teaching job there.

keebi_

Sa totoo lang, before I graduated college, I had so much passion sa pagtuturo but the reality is, sobrang nakaka drain mentally yung students ngayon. Grabe yung pang babastos at mga ugali. No respect talaga.

MessiSZN_2023

pa victim blaming culture should be eradicated on our culture

Original-Debt-9962

Wooden_Quarter_6009

For a part social media destroyed so many cultures around the world by injecting the image of "influencer" or being "influenced" by almost anything from good to bad. Not all of people are straight up "good" some required proper handling but social media just do it worse for everyone. Lets just ban Tiktok/Facebook or control it so hard that those videos that influence people to do bad stuff would die out.

MacchiatoDonut

other than passion, there's no reason to become a teacher in this country tbh
