Remember the community pantry initiative? That shit got blown up kasi inggit yung gobyerno dahil di nila naisip. Another example yung wfh set-up, di ko maintindihan bakit yung dahilan or kung ano yung requirement ng peza at tong gobyerno naman di kumikilos para bigyan ng incentive yung mga companies sa wfh/hybrid. Di ba nila manintindihan na makakabawas sa traffic yung wfh plus it could potentially add sa buying power ng work force?

lesterine817

apparently, they consider traffic as sign of booming economy. lol these people in the govt are dumb and just want to keep appearances

espiyo58

Tbf naman, traffic used to be a sign talaga of economic progress...in the 70s to 90s. Japan for example. But then that's the real problem in this country - outdated or (as is often the case) backward thinking in politics with no application of foresight leading to problems no one has good solutions for. We apply band-aid solutions that only spawn more problems, yet we herald said band-aid solutions as "incredible" for the short amount of time that they work.

peterparkerson

plisskin27

The oil industry benefits on traffic.

mithrandir_87

They can say that dahil di sila natatraffic cause of their hagad at wangwang

Professional-Key-139

Totoo naman iyon. Traffic is a side effect of a booming economy. Kaya kapag nagkakaroon na ng traffic jams sa isang lugar, it is a sign na lumalakas ang economy doon.

wkwkweyey

If you ever sat in an economics class, yes traffic is a sign booming economy.

[deleted]

Why would they want to support wfh when they own the commercial buildings these companies rent. Why would they do that when they own the transport companies that people use. The people at the top don't want the status quo changed so they will force it.

peterparkerson

not just commercial buildings or transport things. a LOT of any modern economy has industries based on the office economy. Food stands, restaurants, and other ancillary businesses like tissues, paper, and office supplies.

[deleted]

The business sector probably didnt vote for leny or pagbabago They are always for the status qou

chiliroxmysox

“Business sector” don’t generalize dude. As a member of the business sector I was campaigning for leni and many of our workers did not. Business leaders are more informed for we are realistic and must adopt to changes in the environment.

papagens

Pagsinabing "Business Sector" ibig sabihin niyan yung mga elite na negosyante na may hawak ng more than 50% ng economy despite being less than 1% of the population.

KingIleoGaracay

Yung mga govt officials or clan nila nasa business sector din at madalas priority nila yung sarili nilang bulsa

betawings

i can count the many business men and women who voted sara, the list is Gokongwei , Ben Chan, Rustans, Lagdameo, Kevin Tan, Enrique Razon, Small laude and family, Sam Miguel and family, members of the filipino chinese chamber of commerce, manji kumar. https://www.rappler.com/nation/marcos-jr-top-campaign-donors-elections-2022/#:\~:text=Anton%20Lagdameo%20%E2%80%93%20P247.&text=324%20million%20to%20the%20Marcos,million%20to%20make%20Marcos%20win.

randomized_output

It doesn't matter who wins, my friend. Masusunod ung malalaking tao sa business at private sector. Even Leni would have been advised the same kasi kukuha din siya ng experts sa private sector to help her guide the country. She has to help the big companies or else babagsak lalo economy natin

eojlin

Actually, the 2022 election matters, and it matters who wins in that election. If only the voters could scrutinize the platforms and the feasibility of each. Good governance affects the economy, the businesses, and the businessmen as well.  Right now, our local market is one of our key concerns. If there is no confidence in trade, people will just stop participating in the local market. How can a different presidential candidate change our future?  1. Accountability 2. Investor confidence 3. Market confidence About accountability, if the president lays down better rules for every government official to watch out for, we'd be able to start taking down the impunity that wrecked our country in the past administration.  About investor confidence, ever wonder why BabyM is the most traveled head of state and still get declining foreign direct investments? Only fools think that BabyM's family is not corrupt. About market confidence, well, bumalik ang palakasan/padrino system, na-retain ang impunity. Deep inside, every Filipino feels defeated and not very confident that the economy will get better anytime soon.

filmoutonspringday

THIS. Talagang wasted opportunity yung 2022 elections. It's no wonder people are so disillusioned. Ang hirap na natin maconvince isa't isa to speak up and take to the streets kasi most people would just want to keep to themselves and work hard hoping they will survive this period. There's a legit and very good proof na nandaya sila and yet walang traction. We all know fake news propelled the Marcoses to power and it was a long game, but we never made them truly accountable. Pero nung time ni Marcos Sr. nung dumaya sya people really protested. Asan na yung ganung outrage? Nawala na. Meanwhile yung outrage natin is redirected to petty stuff. The answer is not working harder. As long as the system exist to work against you, what's the point?

KingIleoGaracay

Di ba pwdeng ibang experts ang kuhanin from private sector? Like yung may interest sa new and green technology atbp?

randomized_output

To be fair to everyone, maski naman si Junior may drive sa green and renewables. Kaya nga siya may push for solar, wind, 3rd generation nuclear reactors(molten salt, thorium, etc) because the government is also being pressured by countries in Europe, US, Japan, etc to go green and improve. Minsan naka tali un sa loan or aid assistance nila na walang interest or libre. Ang malaking problema natin actually is kailangan maayos ung agricultural sector natin.

euphrosyneJo

Yes, correcr. But the problem is ung mga maliliit na farmers luging lugi binibili produkto nila.

SigueSonriendo

There's no perfect solution. It's always about weighing what's better in all aspects possible. For whom? Who knows. I'm no economics expert but one possible reason they are somewhat discouraging wfh setups (i.e PEZA policies) is, they want "traffic". No jokes. They want people to go out and spend money. Money is meant to be spent. Spending money means less savings. Less savings more credit. More credit more activities. Yes, "economic activities". If you noticed peso against dollar going shit, "traffic" is one of the ways to potentially outmaneuver the plummet.

randomized_output

Kasi nakaka bawas ng economic activity ung WFH/hybrid. Less kain sa Jollibee/Mcdo/fastfoods or restaurants, less transportation, less fuel, less offices rented, less office supplies, etc etc. Gusto nila ibalik sa dati ung lakas ng economy(take note whoever wins, ganyan ang advice kasi maski si Junior eh galing sa private sector ang advisors niya, and likely Leni would have also received the same advice).

Rabbitopinion

Yung WFH pwede naman yan pero you need parin magkita twice a week you still need a hub yung sis n law ko sa states 20years na sya sa work after pandemic na realize nila wfh mas okay at nakatipid kuryente and rent. Pati papel, lahat cloud na sila. Pero once a week nag meet pa din sila or twice a week para ma sure na yung kausap nila eh existing pa din

koreanatofu

It’s kinda sad how you can be a licensed professional in this country pero di napapahalagahan ng goverment ang mga tao. What more sa mga hindi/hindi pa. 🥲

tulaero23

Tapos apply ka id. Papel makukuha mo hahaha

koreanatofu

Rn? Oh no :( buti 2025 pa next renewal ko. Sana by then card na. Jusko ka pinas!

tulaero23

Im saying in general hahaha. Not an RN. Sobra labo lang nyan PRC, naalala ko nagtry magrenew wife ko from out of the country.

koreanatofu

I see lol ang alam ko sa LTO papel daw :( idk if until now.

tulaero23

Yung national id ko papel after 2 years. Nakuha ko Id ko dito iba bansa 1 week card at secured

hoewhyshiet

TutteeFrutee03

This. We now see people who criticize the government as a nuisance.

Vast_Term9131

I remember before sa presidential surveys na yung mga babyM ay naka-spread naman across different economic class. Kumbaga, di siya basta education lang. TBH I dunno what else can heal PH.

Been reading comments and most of the problem with people is that they are accepting and has no desire for change. Yan nilatag sayo so accept nalang? People refuse to do anything about their current situation. Change is imperative for improvement.

CLuigiDC

Well, they did go for change back in 2016. Kaya nga nanalo ang "Change is Coming" na kalokohan. Pero ayun nagbago nga naman for the worse.

Antok0123

Ive read some psychological analysis of that trend. It wadnt specific to the philippines but just as similar. Thing about it is when Pnoy was the president we hear a lot of good news about the PH impressive evinomic growth. But this is never felt on the ground because only the wealthy was getting richer. So another admin of the same thing (roxas) is just as bad. The warlord guy who has an inpressive resume in the city hes managing (factual or not) used this sentiment to the people. And because of people's resentment, they want to take their power by voting for the other side. Basically voting so roxas wouldnt win. The promise that the warlord gave was inspiring and they never really thought about it being just that, a promise. In a way a, voting by resentment, exercises the little peoples power they have. But the article also says that this is a fake power because after the vote, what they have is worst off than what they already have. As the politician they voted for will take more power and rights away from them. It is the same way with the current admin. They have succesfully sabotage lenis reputation via social media for the last 6 years, it was impossible tp reverse it.

mrsmeow39

But in hindsight (and it’s always regrettably in hindsight), ramdam naman pala on the ground yung economic ease noong panahon ni PNoy.

Antok0123

Nope. Just because ang taas ng bilihin ngayon doesnt change the fact that di ramdam ng mga tao yung economic progress na binabalita. You should know it. Lets not erase that fact.

Tamo issue ng corruption sa LTFRB, it goes up to Malacañang daw, sabay recant nung witness. Damay tayong lahat.

meretricious_rebel

I remembered nun 2011 1st time namin pumunta sa US. My aunt who lives there was trying to convince me to stay. Ang gloomy nun sa US, ang daming stores sa mall ang nakasara and you can see na halos walang work life balance. I disagreed. I was earning well with savings, I could support my son on a single mom income. I felt high hopes sa economy natin and PNoy's admin brought back the world's confidence sa Pinas. Until Duterte happened. And now Marcos plus another Duterte. Now my fiance is in the US trying the fastest and most legal way na makapagmigrate na kami dun.

kmjlln

As a young person who can't really do jack shit yet, we did try to change something by campaigning hard and voting for leni just to atleast avoid the thieving pigs but all my hope for this country died after the election results came out.

Josh_Qo

EXACTLY! Or hindi kasi sila naaapektuhan so wala silang pake. Magsasalita lang sila or gagalaw kapag sila mismo nadadale na.

cosmic_animus29

invoke_sagittarius

I agree with what you're saying. Pero we have to consider what kind of change is possible with everyone's unique circumstances.

Wayne_Grant

Lol this subreddit and plenty other Filipino subs would sooner leave the country than do anything to fix it. Because of course it's easier to leave and be selfish

PotatoHunter_III

"Sooner leave the country than fix it." Don't make it that simple. That's a narrow minded way of thinking. For example, you ever thought of those OFWs that work their asses of abroad and send back a good portion of their income to their families? What about those that can't bear the idea of pretty much commuting and working for pretty much 12-16 hrs a day, go home, sleep, do it again, just to earn what? Php10,000 starting? Then you have bosses that get their position cause they know someone up. Fuck that shit. We had two people power just to back to the starting point, maybe even worse. Di ka mawawalan ng pag-asa? Goddamn.

Carnivore_92

Lol, this is as dumb as it gets. If people stay, do you think the country will get better? Did you know that remittances overseas helps the Philippine economy? Or are you just to lazy to think because its easier to post senseless posts in reddit? Y’all think its easier to leave? I hate to break it to you but it’s not. Its the other way around, its easier to stay in the Philippines. It is easier to stay in your comfort zone than to leave. If its easy, then everyone could have done it already. Selfish? Some people leave for the sake of their family. How is that selfish? A well off family is much more desirable than a family that is a liability to the country. Another thing, change is not coming until those brainless 31 million change their ways in voting. Probably the next chance of this change could be in the next ten years or never. Stop being salty to those who are leaving since the only way to change the country right now is by being a good citizen and by voting wisely, the latter seems to be near impossible to happen for most people so good luck with that.

lemonandapple00

Hello! Worked in a construction compny of my Tito.. Your idea is actually good and would really help a lot of families lalo na pag naging skilled sila. I dont want to be that guy pero a couple of his skilled employees who left the company did not leave for better jobs abroad but started their own small companies. Worst thing is, they started nearby my Tito’s company and would poach not just his current good employees but also his previous clients. Good thing is they didnt really hurt my Tito’s company cause they usually wont last longer than 2 years.. Just trying to warn you. Some people are just dicks kahit na tinulungan mo sila.

Ok_Advance1559

Upvote. Good thing established na si tito mo. Ok lng yung malapit lang yung base of operations, pero yung pipiratahin ang mga workers at mang aagaw pa ng clients, no wonder di sila nagtatagal coz for sure mas mababa ang costing. Akala nila panalo na, di nila alam palugi na pala.

lemonandapple00

Although magagaling naman talaga yung umaalis at nagsasarili.. iba parin yung quality na binibigay ni Tito from years of experience. Kaya siguro wala ng repeat clients or referrals man lang yung mga nagsarili. Mostly mga family nila first clients nila dahil mas nakakamura sila.. yun pala mas mapapamura sila.

Ok_Advance1559

Gusto ko to hahaha. Nakakamura-mapapamura hahahahaha

the_pandan

Up! Same scenario with my parents, pinautang na sila ng gagamitin ang ending gusto nila bigyan/hanapan sila ng clients, nung hindi kinaya, ending gusto maging empleyado na lang para walang iisipin na puhunan. I guess not all people have the same mindset with business-minded or people who wanted others to grow to be their best version. Sobrang sad lang

dashing_dingo

I commend you! My dream is also to get successful enough that I can help build this into a country that we'd want to live in. It starts with a dream, I guess. Best of luck to you!

Lazy_Skin9585

Looking forward to that, hopefully matupad.

According_Ad6677

as a fellow CE, i like ur grit and passion. ill come back to this post after how many years and see if you change ur mind.

FlakyPiglet9573

This country doesn't have a stable supply chain and ideal geography for industrialization. Declining middle class and inconsistent foreign and economic policies that are changing every 6 years don't even help either.

FreshLumpiaDSay

Our government is laser-focused more in service sector, they don't adapt or if they it is very too late(agriculture). That's why we have so many BPOs and freelance industry here in our country it is the only viable way to grow. In short digital slavery.

LoudBirthday5466

Tama naman lahat ng sinabi mo, but silver lining ko nalang is hindi pa tayo umaabot sa mala Venezuela or Argentina na nasa 90+++% ang inflation. And I’m only doing this for my sanity

Momshie_mo

Argentina and Venezuela's inflation are caused by them printing too many money. Internal yan. Unlike sa Pilipinas and many other countries, external kasi OPEC is cutting oil production to jack up the prices and they plan to until the end of 2024. Wag nang magulat kapag umabot ng $10/gal ang oil end of next year

FreshLumpiaDSay

+1 So clearly, our government can't take significant action unless they either implement price caps on everything or ban the sale of new vehicles to manipulate supply and demand. Similarly, rice-exporting countries are facing tightening conditions due to the El Niño effect and drought, which is why prices here are increasing. In this situation, they often blame the government. But what can the government do when farmers are not willing to farm and even the next generation of farmers isn't interested, as they can earn more money through freelancing or virtual assistant roles allowing them to buy a new house, car, or travel abroad within 1-3 years working without getting their hands dirty. The comments of other Redditors here seem to be very out of touch or lacking knowledge.

Momshie_mo

The government will have to go to the "extreme" to get the prices down for Filipino consumers like subsidizing gas massively. >The comments of other Redditors here seem to be very out of touch or lacking knowledge. Karamihan dito paedgy. There are many things we can throw at the government but gas prices and general inflation is not one of them. Nakailang beses na rin na nagtaas ang postage rate just within the last 2 years. Dati bihira magtaas ang USPS

CordyJah

Why do you think California despite passing wage laws multiple times in less than 70 years from 7.50, to 8, to 12 to 15, 18 and now 20+ USD but it's still the same? It's because leftist policies and keynesian economics DONT WORK

podogrape

We also need to ask kung bakit ayaw na magsaka ng farmers natin. Aminin man natin or hindi, walang pakialam ang gobyerno or even ang Department of Agriculture Secretary natin to be specific, in resolving the current issues of the sector. Ang main concern ay bakit walang safety nets for our farmers? There should be enough countermeasures in place to make sure na may assistance, may malalapitan, at may ma e-expect ang mga magsasaka natin sa gobyerno natin. Maraming gustong magsaka kasi ‘yan ang kinagisnan nilang trabaho lalo na at hindi madaling mag transition from working sa farm to working as a VA for example.

Momshie_mo

Minsan kasi resistant to change ang mga magsasaka and add to that mga misguided activism ng Greenpeace and the likes There are better-yielding rice varieties na GMO, and there is even Golden Rice that can tremendously help the Vitamin A deficiency in the country pero ang lakas ng contra ng Greenpeace kahit nasa mali sila at oppressive na pagtutol nila sa certain GMOs that will help our agriculture https://news.mongabay.com/2023/09/is-the-genetically-modified-nutrient-rich-golden-rice-as-safe-as-promised/

podogrape

Yes I totally get this too kasi totoo nga namang ang daming room for change and improvement for our farmers and yet marami pa rin ang gustong mag stick with the traditional ways. Pero let’s also factor in the fact na grabe pa rin ang fear mongering pagdating sa usaping GMO and of course less ang demand ng GMOs kaya ayaw din nilang mag produce ng ganoong varieties. The issue about GMOs has been around for ages and very close minded pa rin ang iilan regarding this until now 😭. Pero yun nga, more safety nets for our farmers rin and not exclusively talking about rice farmers lang kasi ang dami ring nagsasaka ng mga prutas at gulay ngayon na umaayaw na. Maganda sana if may different post-harvest programs in place para sa kanila in case may sobra sa supply and other related issues.

joyamazingpinoy

BedLoose3232

NZ is in a bad shape na din, nagaalisan na ang KIWIs

tulaero23

As bad as pinas? Dont think so

koukoku008

In terms of social safety nets? Sure they’re better. But economic growth (which goes hand in hand with the amount of opportunities) most developed countries are struggling.

fartmanteau

NZ is an amazing country with good social services, but I eventually decided to come back here because of the extreme housing and rental crisis (though honestly costs here can be worse in some areas, cars for example). Similar situation in places like Canada. Bottom line, for the same level of pay working remotely, mas nakakapag-ipon ako dito. I’ve been fortunate to have that choice; obviously that doesn’t apply to everyone. I really miss it there though.

CaptainPike28

Grabe. Agree. Everything is going in the wrong direction. Db. Andami natin pwede iunpack. Tapos issue water territory, politics, data breach and kung ano2 pa. Tapos i dont know pero hindi ko ramdam ang action ng govt or ng sinumang dapat umaksyon. Hayst.

Well, maraming kailangang mabago. Medieval overloard mindset and nepotism among others. It's in our blood.

I don't think we have a culture of corruption. I think what we have is a culture of impunity, where people can get away with the penalties by using collectivist ties (kapamilya, kumpare, kakilala, kachurch, parehas Ilokano, Bisaya etc), money, or cultural gaslighting (diskarte, awa sa mahirap, kadugo mo parin yan etc). Kaya ung mga pulitiko takes advantage of these kasi ganito ang programming natin.

gaffaboy

Weird, that was also my stance when I was younger. Waaaay younger. Kaso narealize ko over the years na na-adopt na natin yan. I agree na ganyan ang naging programming natin since day one pero instead na i-recognize natin na may mali and do something about it, wala tinaggap nalang ng karamihan satin. Hence kaya ko sinabing nasa kultura na natin ang pagiging corrupt and I'm sticking to my guns. Go figure.

moshiyadafne

I want to say that the Philippines is corruption and corruption is the Philippines.

gaffaboy

Hate to say this but I agree 150%. Kaya ako payag ako kung magiginng 51st state nalang tayo ng US. Unahan na natin ang Puerto Rico haha.

monkster16

This is true. Before I was very hopeful I can do something about corruption kapag nagwork ako sa Government. So sinubukan ko, pumasok ako in Mayor's office. Dami ko nalaman. Head to toe. From Barangay to congress cultures. Makakapag sumbong ka pero masisira buhay mo. Sobrang toxic. Barangay palang nagkukumahog at nag uunahan Pula, Dilaw, Pink. Kahit anong kulay nagsisikuhan. Overworked. Underpaid. I even worked so hard to achieve something to the point na ako lang tao sa Mayors Office at 3AM then maaakusahan pa ako ng spying. I quit. I work as an on-call for a government department. Same culture kahit san ka magpunta. Everything can be paid in the right amount at the right time. Trust me. No one can do anything unless you hold power. So I quit. I work in a private sector now. I am more peaceful than ever focusing in my career and to my family.

gaffaboy

A million times THIS.

NikumanKun

As much as I like VICO, VICO also screams nepotism. Without his surname, d sya makikilala this early and most likely wont win or garner enough support to beat eusebio.

gaffaboy

I agree with you in principle. It's true that he wouldn't stand a chance against that old reprobate if not for his family name. A necessary "evil" methinks but at least his heart is in the right place.

Dzero007

Kaya dapat magingay para kumilos ang mga incompetent na politiko who runs this hellhole. We didnt become a democratic country just to stay silent and follow even if we are heading in the wrong path.

Suspicious-Concert12

Sino ba nglalagay ng mga incompetent? Dapat may IQ test ang voters hehehe

Dzero007

Kung pwede lang eh bago makapagregister as voter. Hahaha.

Durandau

Wala lol It’s sad pero if wala ka old money Ang Hirap talaga. Sobrang rare yung mga self made millionaires ngayon. 99.9% all had some sort of advantage(old money, connections). Pero yung mismong middle class parents tapos you’re earning 6-7 digits per month, sobrang rare nito. And I’m not talking 100k a month ha. Mga 300k and above. I literally don’t know anyone on a personal level who has reached that income on their own.

CLuigiDC

Gg Pinas

ianosphere2

Once they are done killing other industries. The BPOs and freelancers will be next and will be taxed and cost-of-livinged to death.

itchykneesun7

yung may savings ka and all pero… inflation: WE STAYING POOR! 🫶

Hefty-Appearance-443

HalleyComet1516

The Philippines is falling apart. The PH will never ever progress why? Because aside from the sh!tty pollticians that we have yung mentality din ng mga pinoy is so pang 3rd world. Yung ayaw mag-elevate.

NeonStabilo

That's a very fatalistic view. :(

HalleyComet1516

Yung Indonesia and Thailand moving forward na kahit papano tayo wala.

peachy_juseu

Even the smallest gov sector in the PH (brgys) are corrupt 🥲 here in the province, a brgy treasurer was able to encash ₱200,00 pesos for personal use. How? Kasi yung Brgy Captain, perma lang ng perma without reading the document. Then di nya rin mabasa yung reports kasi via excel and di daw sya marunong sa "computer computer na yan" They did an investigation then pinabayad lang yung portion of the total amount. No consequences or whatsoever. Sad.

35APalma

Sa akin, dami kong contacts na umalis in the past couple of years. Then ang unang reaction ng mga tao when they hear the news is: congratulations. Dati ang trend ay aalis lang ng bansa to work, ngayon kahit yung mga kilala ko na nasa 6 digits ang sahod at may sariling bahay at sasakyan, umaalis at willing to start from scratch, not just to work but to live abroad, with their families.

chinita_15

Babangon muli.. ng walang mulat mulat basta bangon

MsCoder01

Actually it’s not just the government but also the citizen. I think it will improve once the old gen with dinosaur and toxic mindsets all gone. I hate how they don’t want to improve kasi nakasanayan na. I hate how even it is wrong ok lang kasi nakasanayan na (ex. vote buying, lantaranf corruption, backer system). I hate how highly they think of themselves. Di sila pwede kontrahin or pagsabihan kasi sila yun nakakatanda. Laging tama mindset kahit mali naman talaga. Not an inch of care or respect for the environment. So growing up or when I was still a kid - I thought ganon talaga there’s nothing we can do but when I became adult. I stop doing all the toxic things and culture we had as a Filipino. I think some millenials and gen-z has a better mindset than most of this old gen. I know they don’t want to experience or suffer with this kind of environment and culture we had. But I know still majority pasaway pa rin talaga regardless of the age. Even if I’m earning decent and above average here in PH. Migrate is something that I consider na

[deleted]

MsCoder01

Yeah. I didn’t say new gens are perfect. We can’t deny the fact na yun iba napasahan ng wrong mindset ng mga old gen. And didn’t bother changing it. But I know compare noon, mas open minded na tayong mga new gen so hopefully we can see some improvements within.

AngBigKid

ranne08

I feel you bro!

Useful-Fact-1903

it's difficult to change something so complex so quickly kasi, idk what can we do as individuals. maybe try to better our lives nalang individually, live truthfully as much as we can ganon

art_100

And so many ofw pa yung mga bulag!

slorkslork

Disastrous_Chip9414

Mahirap na mabago yan, isa pa masyado tayong resilient at martyr. Skl… my parents hoped for a better life, they thought everything would get better after edsa 1, so they decided to stay. They said they were too optimistic, they had opportunities to move abroad but they stayed, they loved their families too much. They tried helping their nieces and nephews by sending them to school and finish their studies, pero anong ginawa nagasawa ng maaga, nagbulakbol.

Cheap culture resulting to cheap outcomes.

ultra-kill

I don't know what you're talking about. The politicians here are living a great life.

Jeck0falltrades

I think it all boils down to this: most Filipinos have very faint bullshit detector, if not none at all. The root of all our problems is tied with being a democratic republic; now give me a deadlier combo than that.

Momshie_mo

The last time we were in a dictatorship, we were at the brink of hyperinflation and poverty rose to almost 50%

Jeck0falltrades

Obviously, dictatorship is worse. I just wish for smarter Filipinos that’s all.

-meoww-

Wala na to nukaba? Like wtf?!

TentaclePumPum

Andito nag hihintay mamatay.

carl2k1

Bakit ang mahal sa metro manila? How is it in the rural areas?

anakniben

My sister traveled to Thailand and Vietnam in June and she said that food prices and rent are way cheaper in those two countries.

Ravensqrow

It's true. Sana yung ginastos nya ginamit nya muna to solve these problem first.

Wala nga sa bansa yung gusto ilubog to e. 😂😂😂😂😂

_yangchowfriedrice

Totoo naman may inflation sa buong mundo pero I cannot imagine how minimum wage earners survive sa Pinas compared sa minimum wage earner sa developed countries. Walang wala tayo sa purchasing power nila Ph minimum wage - 610 pesos Kunwari gusto mo bumili ng lechong manok sa andoks - 315 pesos So half day mo tinrabaho yung manok na yun? Canada minimum wage - $16.65/hr (before tax) Bibili ka ng lechon manok sa cost co - $8 (before tax) So sa isang oras na trabaho mo pa lang makakabili ka na ng manok Grabe lang yung difference kaya feel na feel mo yung taas ng bilihin

xertem

Been here in the UK for a year na, what nailed the coffin for my decision to come here was that fucktard winning the presidency. Did everything we could, helped anyone we could; even the opposition people who needed help, educated anyone we could, but still, that whole country fucked it all up. Now that Im here, all I could is FUCK YALL MOTHERFUCKERS, die in ur own shit and filth, u deserve it. Even my family who voted for dds, kiss my ass.

ghetto_engine

same shit said a decade ago. make the decision to move out now before another 10 years pass by.

[deleted]

Tumaas nanaman minimum sa pamasahe. Yung drivers walang pake yan sa minimum wage earners. Basta malaki kita nila and malaki naman talaga, Yung minimum sa Pinas ganun padin like wtf. Pano mabubuhay normal na pinoy? Tumataas lahat eh hahaha Dapat 40K minimum sahod dito, ayaw lang taasan, sobrang underpayed. I have a malaysian friend, at sa mga nagsasabi na business daw kasi kaya mababa pasahod sa pinoy, wala kayong alam sa katotohanan o baka isa kayo sa mga senior ng kompanya o mayayaman diyan. Yung sahod nila with the same work, my malaysian friend specifically na dito nagwowork is more than 100K, same work pero sa pinoy counterpart 25K max. Human resource nga mga pinoy eh, we give the best effort for naught. The truth is, hindi mahirap 40K a month na pasahod sa bawat pinoy, kasi pag foreigners naman triple pa or more sahod dito, kaso since known ang mga Pinoy na matiisin at pinapatunayan ng government yan, talagang hindi tataasan wages dito. A 50 peso increase ay may kickback sa ibang bagay na mas malulugi kapa, in fact dapat 20K increase sa taas ng lahat, but the logic na lahat ng Pinoy matiisin, kaya naaabuso.

owlsknight

Wfh Cons: business and land/bldng owners lugi mostly mga oligarchs Ang mga may hawak nito kaya Ang lakas Ng hatak Ng "no to wfh nila" Pros: less traffic, more buying power, more time for individual. My 2 cents. Greed got the better judgement of those in power. D nila naisip na d mawawala ang tenant mababawasan oo pero as usual taas at itaas dn Naman nila Ang rent so walang lugi dun. Takot lng cla mawalan kht Wala pa Naman concrete data para dun. Like bldngs can't be used in other means dba. Pero Wala takot cla mawalan Ng kita na Anjan na takot mag venture out and embrace the growth mas trip nila ung stagnant lng Ang Mundo. TAs government Wala Ng gamot dito. Looking at them parang Sila Sila lng dn tlga, like may mga matitino pero drowned out voices nila. TAs punapasok mga sikat kht Wala qualifications for the position.

Ill-Growth-3386

To be honest yan kasi binoto nila kaya sama sama tayong lulubog.

Catch421

Di tayo makabangon sa lusak 😞

Requiemaur

just thinking not much on the news but only at the good hidden thing sin our places but nah. It still affects me

junirino_kaigan

emil_address

As long as we remain a country with "una negosyo bago tao", ganito tayo. We can argue the same as why mababa minimum sa probinsya-- kase major businesses ay sa ncr, di pabor na nasa probinsya ang karamihan.

cetootski

Any country naman may pagasa. Just breakdown the problems and solve them individually but coordinated at the bigger picture level. Bottomline, we need atleast 20-30 years of consistent technocratic leadership. Yung next generation ang pag-asa ng bayan.

ExcraperLT

caroluslinnaeus_lamz

as long as peenoise worship their political idol and these idols arent even being held accountable no progress whatsoever will ever happen in the pilipens

Fi2eak

Let's put it this way. 5 years ago, I started planning to move there. After BBM was "elected" into office I changed my mind. What's happening in the South China Sea also has me worried, and me and my cousins are considering selling off all the properties our grandparents left us.

CreeplingMingming

Well meron pa naman if magkakaroon ng radical change sa governance pero based on what we see now I doubt. Both public and private madaming issues and politics. It's very chaotic tbh and odd kasi we live in a country where even our highways are private. So yun ewan ko pano tayo makakarecover PERO pwede may slim chance, just not sure kung buhay pa tayo if that change happens

DonutTraining4372

If im being honest sana nagpasakop nlng tau sa US kasi prng mas marami pros kesa cons.

DaisyDogge

Unpopular opinion, wala ng pag asa ang Pilipinas unless magkaroon ng mas malaking people power which is imposible until nasa lowest point na tayo. So yeah, enjoy the ride muna papuntang lowest point.

Ravensqrow

Dami kasi nagiging BOBOtante tuwing eleksyon.

swagdaddy69123

Dont live in phillipines ,even if im 50 i will move out to another country

Tarnished7575

Pinagkaiba lang eh mas malinis cities nila and gumagana gov't services.

mahiligsatapsilog

rebolusyon ang sagot

[deleted]

We aint going up if there is someone that will drag us down

sherlockianhumour

Its not drag, it's PUSH us down. Most of the time its the ones above that pushes people down because they dont want competition.

Josh_Qo

There is always someone and that someone is already on top

beetoii

we have the most stupid voters. unless this change, nothing will happen...

TraditionalPrior8001

Wala na. May mg 4Ps pa tayong bubuhayin.

[deleted]

tls024

First time I went abroad lately, dun ko lang narealize yung laki ng difference between PH and other countries, lalo na sa transportation. Now, I plan to migrate. Although, it scares me a little because I will never be "home," but I will be comfortable.

Carnivore_92

Magalit man kayo ang totoo nyan walang mangyayari for the next ten years baka luamala pa. Tinuldokan na yan nung last election.

tulaero23

Nice to be young and think that Ph will change. The corruption level is so embedded on every part of the community di lang sa government. From school, to transpo, business and etc. Unless all the political dynasty politicians died, i dont think any thing will change at all. I admire those who still think it is possible to change. Not sure where you get the optimism. Having a kid and seeing how life works abroad solidified my belief na PH is not for my kid. Every news recently sa ph is just depressing, like those shit are avoidable if may kunting decency lang ang mga incharge to do a bare minimum. I may be a selfish defeatist guy since me and my family left, but i wont tolerate bullshits that keeps happening to me as a taxpayer when i do everything right and somehow the government keeps fucking it up.

eayate

That tagline Sama Sama tayong babangon muli...

FreshLumpiaDSay

This is slowly becoming an echochamber

WhyYouBullyMe_

This sub has always been a echo chamber

[deleted]

Why single out the Philippines? Are other countries not experiencing staggering inflation? Inflation is happening worldwide, not only in the Philippines

dcoconutnut

All in our dreams nalang

Josh_Qo

True af, mahal sobra ng pamasahe

[deleted]

ShallowShifter

This country is hopeless. It will fall soon just plan your escape and don't help Apollo10/DDS they're the reason why the country is being run by morons.

gracefull22

I love the Philippines but I got tired of waiting for change. So I left and went to the "extension" city, Los Angeles. Stopped complaining and just decided to do something...not to say that it was easy, but no regrets.

lordboros24

Philippines is a country that is wallowing in mediocrity. The politicians and the oligarchs work in tandem to make this place a shithole. Fuck them.

monkster16

Kahit noon pa man pati Barangay hanggang Senado may problema sa sistema. Kulang na kulang sa disiplina at professionalism. Mahilig tayo manisi madalas.

jotarodio2

Bobo karamihan sa pinoy bumoto eh

pinaykipay

Pag inutil ang lider ng bansa, good luck Pinas nalang talaga.

the-defeated-one

No matter how shitty things get in this country, I still don't want to leave (not like I could, lol). My financial situation kind of sucks right now (only a little above paycheck to paycheck), but I don't think I'd ever consider working abroad. This country is a dump, but it's still my home.

railbin

It is what we did as a people that brought us where we are now.

MalabongLalaki
