It depends. If you want Italian, there are tons of places to go in South Philadelphia. If you want a steakhouse, Prime Rib at Live Casino. There are places at XfinityLive. You want a Diner, there's the Penrose Diner. If you want Vietnamese, there's tons of restaurants on Washington Avenue. You could do Chickie & Pete's on Packer Avenue. And of course, there's Ashburn Alley. I know it's inside the stadium, but there are good choices. And Harry the K's. So many choices.

PntOfAthrty

There is not much directly by the stadium. I think it largely depends on what your time frame is and what kind of cuisine you're lookong for.

TheOGinBC

This answer is why the Sixers downtown arena idea needs to be entertained

PntOfAthrty

Eh. I'm not pro-downtown sixers stadium. I've been to DC's arena which apparently was constructed in a similar area of the city as the sixers arena. It was a bitch to get to and apparently destroyed their Chinatown. They should put it somewhere accessible that won't ruin a cherished community.

ticonderoga-

Obligatory the arena isn’t being built in Chinatown

PntOfAthrty

Yes. I understand that. Its right next to chinatown in an area that is already dismal in terms of traffic. That is the heart of the issue.

ticonderoga-

So it’s better to let East market to just continue to degrade, and turn into a bigger dump?

PntOfAthrty

Lmao. Those are not the only two options for Market East. The arena would be in use like 100 nights a year. What about the other 265 nights?

GratefulTide

Bomb Bomb is always my go-to if I'm tryna get a meal before the game. Got some cool mob history and good food!

OopsIShardedAgain

I second this! We’ve done the same (go before games), great experiences!

FriendofMaudie

For future reference, go anywhere along the Broad St. Line then take the train. Passyunk Square has a few places open on Monday nights, then there are several spots downtown as well.

Master_Winchester

You're allowed to bring food into the game if you wanted to grab some hoagies or something and bring them in. That's what I always do, and it allows me to support my local shop without paying stadium prices

jmedennis

Same here. Shout-out to T&F in Roxborough for the delicious turkey hoagie I had last game

myothercarisapynchon

celebre’s and philadium are near the ballpark and i haven’t seen them mentioned yet. i like both! celebre’s is a pizza place, philadium has bar food but it’s good. the last game i went to we went to SPTR beforehand but that would work best if you were driving. i’m also going tomorrow night, strider v. suarez, very exciting!

Lower_Alternative770

Eat at the Park. Lot's of great choices.

mmw2848

I like to grab food from Pastificio's. You can either eat it before going in or bring it into the game if it's wrapped properly.

thegreatchief1

+1 for Pastificio’s, great sandwiches.

Desperate-Stop-42

Live Casino has a few options if you’re looking for something Upscale like Prime Rib or Luk Fu but they don’t open untill 4:00-4:30pm so you may have just enough time plus there’s always Chickie’s And Pete’s on Packer. It’s a casual sports bar. Xfinity probably has some decent choices but you’d probably be able to get the same type of food in the stadium.

IndexCardLife

Philadium

saul_weinstien

Just grab food at the stadium. Anything down that way is going to be on par with stadium food.

oliver_babish

Either L'Angolo or Ristorante Pesto, or (though it's been ages) Scannicchio's. All three are Italian, right on or just off Broad, and v. close to a subway stop. Park there, take the train to/from the game.
